TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies

Clareinthemiddle · 29/08/2015 13:29

I have been ttc for 10 months. I'm 34.
Took it very easy the first few months and then went for it with OPKs, no caffeine, reduced alcohol and got my BFP in May, but sadly mmc at 12 weeks (a few days before my scan). The little thing had not made it past 5.5 weeks :(
Took July off to recover and then back on it again in August. Heard/read a lot about increased fertility the few months after a miscarriage so was really convinced August would be my month, but af arrived yesterday. Absolutely devastated.
Can feel a very lonely place, especially as I either have friends who conceived within 1-3 months, or those who always knew they would have issues so started with IVF a few years back and have thankfully all been successful. I guess I just thought I would have an easy ride, as my sisters did, but no such luck.
Thought it would be nice to share the journey with others dealing with similar situations or with success stories after a miscarriage. Please say hello :)

hello, hope it's ok for me to join this thread. I'm 28 and had miscarriage at 6 weeks about 2 months ago after coming off the pill a couple of months before TTC #1. Just had 2nd AF since then and feeling pretty sad about it. Feel like all the excitement and hope of getting pregnant is gone and even if I do get pregnant that I'll just be terrified the whole time. Anyone else feel like this?

I feel like the sadness is just getting worse as time passes rather than better.

Sophia1984 · 22/10/2015 11:11

Hi everyone. Not sure what's going on this month. My last cycle was only 22 days but I think my hormones are still messed up from coming off the pill then miscarrying. I had ewcm on Day 10 and Day 11 and had sex on day 12 and 13. I then had some cramping and bloating on Day 14 and 15. I've bought a BBT thermometer and the Taking Control of Your Fertility book so am going to start charting and see what's going on. I'm currently worrying that either my follicular phase or luteal phase are too short. It doesn't help that the EPAU never really explained what kind of miscarriage I had. There was a fully lined womb but just a speck inside it. Does that indicate it was a blighted ovum that had been reabsorbed? And would that mean that I'm ovulating and implanting ok?

white66 · 22/10/2015 12:00

Hi everyone I hope you don't mind me joining you here, I'm TTC number 2, I had a MMC in August at 11 weeks pregnant. We have been trying since but no luck so far, this month in trying the clearblue ovulation tests. Currently on cd20, I look forward to spending more time with you all

Sophia1984 · 22/10/2015 13:24

Hi white66 :-) So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Wishing you lots of luck for the future x

rhodes15 · 22/10/2015 15:02

I've just found some brown discharge in my pants (sorry tmi) trying not to freak out but am freaking out. Been to doctors who basically sent me away saying if nothing else happens do another test in a week. Terrified this is happening again. The last one started like this too Sad

LondonGirl83 · 22/10/2015 15:42

So sorry Rhodes but it might be nothing! Spotting is very normal apparently in early pregnancy. How far along are you?

rhodes15 · 22/10/2015 15:51

It's super early. Digital test said 1-2 weeks. I know these things happen early on and really hoping it's that's. It's just it's exactly the same brown discharge as last time just a bit earlier on. The doc had ago at me for getting pregnant again so soon. But the Epau nurse said I had to wait one cycle which is what I did. Just have to wait and see I suppose. Not at home at the moment so not been able to see my doctor. Just praying for a good outcome x

sundayraspberry · 22/10/2015 16:19

I'm really hoping it's all OK for you. Could you ring the epau directly perhaps? Flowers

white66 · 22/10/2015 16:25

Thanks Sophia! Oh Rhodes how dare he have a go at you, all you needed. I would ring the EPU and see what they say they may let you book in direct with them if you explain your GP wouldn't help

Sophia1984 · 22/10/2015 16:46

Why on earth would he say it was too soon? Doctors can be so insensitive! Brown discharge is normally old blood, so it's less worrying than if it was bright red, but I know how worrying any kind of blood can be. I would ring the EPAU directly too. Fingers crossed for you xx

rhodes15 · 22/10/2015 16:52

Thank you ladies. It makes it worse that I'm away from home with work. Il try and survive the rest of the week and book in with my own doctor Monday when I'm home. It's just upsetting and really hard to stay calm and relax. Keeping everything crossed .

LondonGirl83 · 22/10/2015 17:25

How far along where you last time? If its not getting any heavier, I'm sure you'll be fine.

When I miscarried the advice was to wait one cycle (which I'm not) just so they could date the pregnancy more accurately.

Given that you actually waited one cycle it sounds like your GP doesn't know what s/he is talking about which is not only insensitive but worrisome in its own right.

rhodes15 · 22/10/2015 17:44

I was 6 weeks along last time so hoping this is actually a good sign. SO thinks it's fine as it's so early. Hopefully it's just a bit of breakthrough. It was a walk in clinic so clearly just wanted to get rid of me!

AprilShowers16 · 22/10/2015 18:58

Hello Rhodes, sorry I hear your de has been so unsupportive! Wen I had my mc the Dr at the EPU was so lovely and said that it would be the worst thing in the world if I got pregnant straight away, it made me feel like she really understood how much it meant to me. Hope everything goes well this time :)

mascaraisamust · 22/10/2015 19:48

Rhodes brown spotting is very normal early on. As others said if it's light and it isn't red try not to worry. It's your body getting rid of old blood. Your pregnant and what happens is out of your control. Wishing you all the best xx

Soo.. My nhs gp called out of the blue to say I'm vitamin D deficient and to call in the morning and get a prescription to take tablets twice a day. Could this have been a TTC issue?!

Sophia1984 · 22/10/2015 21:54

Just saw your post AprilShowers16 Welcome! I think it's totally normal to feel sad. I think we've lost the excitement that comes with TTC, especially when we conceive so quickly and then lose the baby. I feel so hyperaware of my cycle and feel like every cycle I don't get pregnant is a waste, and I know when I do get pregnant I won't be able to relax at least until I get past 7 weeks (when I miscarried this time). It's hard, but there's so much support on here xx

frankiepants1 · 23/10/2015 08:35

Keep managing to delete my posts! Angry

hello April and White!

Van, have you tested?!

Sophia, can you get in touch with EPU to find out more about your mc? its good to have support here too, im glad I've found you all!

Rhodes I hope you're ok? will be harder being away from home, but can only echo what the girls have already said about old blood. thinking of you xxx

cd7 for me and after thinking AF was tapering off I have bright red this morning. sigh - length of time of period doesn't affect ov date does it? I usually have a short period and haven't had AF this long in ages! do I still start testing with cb digi on day 10?

happy Friday ladies!

frankiepants1 · 23/10/2015 08:36

*Vap, stupid autocorrect!

Clareinthemiddle · 23/10/2015 12:05

Frankiepants - yes definitely start opk from 10th regardless as you don't want to miss it if you ov early for some reason.

Oh Rhodes I feel for you. The day I had the brown discharge was so scary, and I was sent away from the epu being told very normal. Sadly I went back at week later when it got worse and I then miscarried at 12 weeks :) Def get along to the epu on Monday so you can put your mind at rest!

Mascara - vitamin D hmm not sure...have you googled?

I had my iron levels checked (ferritin) which came back normal, but only 35ug so definitely on the lower end, and from what I've read that's not good when ttc. But dr said its fine. So hard to know what to believe!?!

I'm on 11/12 dpo. Hate this bit!! Have no symptoms so pretty sure it's a no-go, but willing positive thoughts!

Frankie definitely start opk as normal. I mc a few weeks ago and if you count the start of my early mc as CD1, then I ovulated on CD9 which is crazy early. I started testing from CD7 as I new my first cycle after MC might be weird.

Rhodes I hope everything has worked out okay.

Mascara here is what the NHS say about Vitamin D and fertility. The short answer is maybe it can cause problems based on studies of animals not humans.

frankiepants1 · 23/10/2015 13:33

I hope they come in the post today, were meant to wed or thurs - got them on ebay for £10 cheaper than shops!!! literally like flushing money down the loo!!! xxx

Vap0 · 23/10/2015 15:57

rhodes I'm so sorry to read this. How are you today? Has it stopped? I have everything crossed for you. Stupid doctor! How dare he! My dr said we could start immediately, just to wait until after the bleeding had stopped. I can't believe he told you off! That's all you need when you're feeling desperate.

Welcome white and april
I haven't tested today, I tested yesterday with an ic and bfn. If my frer arrive tomorrow I'll test then or use an ic or both?
sophia good luck with your bbt, I started using one this month and I'm addicted, I love it.
frankie we are going to use the cb ones this month too. Dp bought them after I had a bit of a meltdown on Wednesday about everything. It's his way of helping. Hope yours arrive in time!
claire yes we have been to the infertility unit at the hospital a couple of times. They aren't doing much to help. I've had a hycosy which was all good, dp had a sa which was all good. We are due back in Jan to hopefully be put on the IVF list. They keep saying they will help but then send us away. It's a very long and boring tale of woe.

frankiepants1 · 23/10/2015 16:22

Have had a text from DH to say they've arrived, hurray! now just to not waste any wanting to use them straight away! maybe should buy some ic's to get that out my system! Grinxxx

Sophia1984 · 23/10/2015 18:04

My partner thinks I'm crazy when he sees me 'filling in the chart Vap0! He thinks we should just be trying constantly all month long...

rhodes15 · 23/10/2015 19:03

Vap I'm ok. The brown discharge (for want of a better word) has stopped. I'm hoping that it being so early is a bit of implantation. Am going to go to my doctors and double check as the walk in was so awful! Thanks for all your kind words it means a lot xx
