TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies

Clareinthemiddle · 29/08/2015 13:29

I have been ttc for 10 months. I'm 34.
Took it very easy the first few months and then went for it with OPKs, no caffeine, reduced alcohol and got my BFP in May, but sadly mmc at 12 weeks (a few days before my scan). The little thing had not made it past 5.5 weeks :(
Took July off to recover and then back on it again in August. Heard/read a lot about increased fertility the few months after a miscarriage so was really convinced August would be my month, but af arrived yesterday. Absolutely devastated.
Can feel a very lonely place, especially as I either have friends who conceived within 1-3 months, or those who always knew they would have issues so started with IVF a few years back and have thankfully all been successful. I guess I just thought I would have an easy ride, as my sisters did, but no such luck.
Thought it would be nice to share the journey with others dealing with similar situations or with success stories after a miscarriage. Please say hello :)

Clara that's amazing! its so great you've had a new pregnancy confirmed, yay!

vap, your bloods are great, love it xxx

Brenna24 · 28/11/2015 10:05

Dancing those are progesterone levels. They should tell you if you ovulated or not that month. They should rise to over 30 for the day 21 test from a basal level at the AF tests.

mascaraisamust · 28/11/2015 11:28

Hi all, sorry I've been a bit quiet. Things have been hectic.

Vap great to hear about your levels, got everything crossed that the spotting clears up soon for you.

Clara great news.

As for me I'm taking each day as it comes. I'm still really cold (went to bed in a vest, a tshirt and a hoody), still sore, had one really intense shooting pain in my ovary region, it took my breath away last night it was so sharp. No bleeding/spotting. CB yesterday still saying 3+ and I'm 6 weeks today. Think I need to get past the 7+5 where I started to mc. Feeling it will be an anxious few weeks. 19 days until my early scan Smile counting down the days and hoping all is ok!

Hope everyone is is ok and getting on alright. Where is everyone at at the moment lost track!

Vap0 · 28/11/2015 11:37

mascara that sounds scary! And so may days until your early scan and your safe phase, hope you manage to keep your mind off it. I should be having my NHS early scan w/c 7 Dec, so a little earlier. Well. So long as no red appears before then. It's torturous this waiting isn't it! My danger day is today. We started mc last time on 4+6 which is today...... I know the likelihood of it happening on the same day are very slim but it's still a milestone to get past. I'm still poas like a lunatic every morning hoping to see a darkening line. Today's I'm not so sure if it's getting darker....

How is everyone doing?

Any more poas people for ovulation or pregnancy?

mascaraisamust · 28/11/2015 12:12

I might call my gp on Monday and ask if I can get an early scan as I just feel anxious at the minute. A bit confused on my due dates too as Ovia and baby centre are saying 6+6 as my LMP was 11/10 but I didn't ovulate until 20/10. Not that it makes a huge difference! Right need to try and chill xx

Vap0 · 28/11/2015 13:38

those dates sound right to me, you're exactly 2w ahead of me and your lmp was exactly 2w before mine. I don't think it matters when you ovulate as they say it starts from the 1st day of your lmp (unless you're massively irregular) even though you haven't conceived it's just the way it works. They may change it at your dating scan. Have you booked your booking appointment yet? I'm going in a little earlier than normal because of it being Xmas week. I'm booked in on 16th Dec. From what I've heard it is a totally tedious process where they ask you 1000 questions over the course of an hour and don't scan you or do anything other than dip your wee. At least I know this and so am not excited about it.

Try not to worry about your scan or things going wrong (easier said than done I know). And also even if you can't get in for your scan any earlier it won't stop anything happening. I'm obsessed with seeing a scan though so I'm not practicing what I preach at all. If they won't do you one early and you think it will out your mind at rest have a google of local clinics. They aren't too expensive when you think of the peace of mind you'll have. Most won't do it until 8w though. None of my local ones will do it that early but this Solihull one will. Not sure if you could go there if there are none local to you. Let me know if you want the link.

I've just looked up the time from last mc and it was 9.50am today. I'm officially past danger time in danger day. Just to get through the rest of danger day!

Sophia1984 · 28/11/2015 17:45

Day 27 here. 2 weeks since my strongest line on the OPK and my Glow app reckons my period should arrive today. Last cycle was 27 days long. Have got soreish boobs, some nausea and heartburn and a few twinges in abdomen but don't think I have had as much PMS as I normally do.. Have resisted buying pregnancy tests, so am just waiting it out...

Vap0 · 28/11/2015 18:28

Ooh sophia you're doing really well waiting. When will you wait for af to arrive by before you test? Fingers crossed Grin

Sophia1984 · 28/11/2015 18:34

Getting crampy feelings this evening, so she'll probably be here tomorrow. This is the first month I've actually felt quite relaxed about the whole thing - if it happens, it happens. If not, we'll keep trying. Could also have cramps as I've started taking iron tablets and they have a constipating effect!

mascaraisamust · 28/11/2015 21:04

Best of luck sophia, glad you're more chilled!

Vap not sorted the booking in appointment yet, was almost afraid to go as last time I didn't make it, I was only three days off it and ive tried to not get too ahead in my thoughts this time. My early scan is on the 19th I'll be nearly 9/10 weeks! I could get it earlier but I'm thinking if I make it that far there is a better chance it will be more viable this time. Fingers crossed.

frankiepants1 · 28/11/2015 21:23

sophia you're doing so well not to test, if she doesn't come tomorrow do you think you'll buy one to use on Monday?

so tonight I handed over ALL my pregnancy tests to DH (all 16 of them Blush) - he's been instructed to hide them and to give me one 2 weeks today so I can use on Sunday 13th.

not even had my static smiley yet and already I'm dreading this 2ww! xxx

Northernlight22 · 28/11/2015 21:35

Hi all, quickly checking in - moved house this weekend so it's all a bit chaotic and stressful here at the mo!

Still no AF, haven't tested in about a week now so I may crack open another test in the morning (if I can find them!)

Off to read up on what you have been up to these last few days :)

Vap0 · 29/11/2015 08:43

Morning All

Well, today marks 6w pregnant. We passed danger day yesterday and all seems well apart from the brown spotting that won't just F off. So I'm currently quite chilled out about things nothing that a sharp twinge or whole load more brown spotting won't change.

How are you getting on sophia any sign of af? Or something more exciting?

mascara fingers crossed for you!

frankie well done with the frer amnesty Any news on that static smiley today?

northern congratulations on your new house! Exciting times Smile have you poas today?

Vap0 · 29/11/2015 08:43

frankie what did dp say when you handed them over?

Vap0 · 29/11/2015 09:11

Did I say 6w? I meant 5w

Clarab0w · 29/11/2015 09:25

vap that's great, definitely a landmark to celebrate! And so pleased about your hcg numbers. All good news!

northern congrats on the move - hiding all the tests in moving boxes is an extreme but effective way to postpone POAS!

mascara 7+5 will roll around before you know it. Did you manage to sort an early scan?

I'm booked for mine on 7/12 but I'm not sure whether to push it back?

Clarab0w · 29/11/2015 09:30

Sorry, didn't mean to post yet! Wondering whether to push the scan back as would only be 6+5 based on date of ERPC, but pretty sure I ov'd late because of post-MC hormones so may actually be under 6 weeks then. Last scan at 6.5w showed no embryo so don't want to relive that horrifying wait. If they don't see anything on the 7th, will they rescan me? Assuming I make it that far...so cautious this time.

sophia I salute your sanity, by the way Smile

mascaraisamust · 29/11/2015 10:34

I'd push it back Clara, that's my thinking too. Although I'm 7 weeks from LMP actually I ovulate really late so I know I'm more like 6 weeks. I want to leave it as late as I can this time so I can be sure of a more positive outcome and not scare myself with seeing very little. Closer it is to xmas the more confident I'll be to tell close family too. I'm still going to call my gp tomorrow as I've got concerns and she did tell me to call her straight away if I was at all unsure

Northern fx for you x

Brenna24 · 29/11/2015 10:35

Well done Frankie

So glad you are past your danger point Vap. I hope things stay chilled.

Clara I think you could always phone and try.

We have big white snowflakes falling here. I am a bit chirpier than I have been.

Grapefruit8 · 29/11/2015 10:46

Hello Blushive just stumbled across this thread and would like to join please! We are TTC following a MMC in October. I've seen a name or 2 I recognise but going to have a full read through now.

Brenna24 · 29/11/2015 13:03

Hi Grapefruit. How are things going? I have just finished my first AF after the MMC and am back to TTC properly.

frankiepants1 · 29/11/2015 13:25

Northern I hope your move went well - did u poas this morning?!

vap I am pleased you've passed your landmark and are feeling quite chilled out.

Clara I think if it was me I would want to be scanned after my own landmark day passed - for me thats 7+4 so I will hopefully get scanned (when I'm preggers!) any time after this, then probably a private one before my 12 week one. but only you can make the decision my lovely. hope you're ok.

DH didn't say anything about tests! just agreed he would hide - but they're still sitting there!!! have asked him to move asap as I'm just about to start my 2ww and need the temptation removed! have shown him one frer that he's to give me.......

another flashing smiley for me today too, when I popped the cartridge out the test line is almost as dark as the control, which happened just before my static last month. also the same is me drying up, and I freaked out about not ov'ing last month when that happened. but if it'd going to be the same I should expect lots of ewcm later today and then a static tomorrow. We shall see.
dtd last night and will again today anyway xxx

sundayraspberry · 29/11/2015 15:00

Ooh snow brenna! It's just rainy and vv windy here in the Pennines today. I'm hibernating!

Hope the move went well northern. We moved over a year ago and it still looks like we moved in yesterday! Got soooo much to do to the house before a baby comes, its a little overwhelming.

Really nice to hear you so relaxed Sophia I hope it pays off for you Smile. Is your partner feeling chilled out about ttc too now?

Just wondering how sakura and mountain are? And anyone else we've not heard from in a while.

Hi to grapefruit too x

Sophia1984 · 29/11/2015 15:26

No AF yet... Thanks for your positive wishes everyone :-) sundayraspberry Yeah, he is. I think he's happy I'm more chilled about it too! I don't think he's going to be able to actually imagine having a baby till it's crying in his arms to be honest, but he's very supportive.

Sakura03 · 29/11/2015 22:12

Hi everyone - hi raspberry (waving), sorry I've been absent, I've had a horrible cold for the past two weeks, still got a cough... I've been taking loads of over the counter medsHmm as my throat and head where so sore... Cd23 today and etd is 5th December. Hey, great to hear there are some more BFP's congrats ladies. Dancing seven seas trying for a baby are also sold in tesco and superdrug and possibly other places. I take them and get no side effects.
