TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies

Clareinthemiddle · 29/08/2015 13:29

I have been ttc for 10 months. I'm 34.
Took it very easy the first few months and then went for it with OPKs, no caffeine, reduced alcohol and got my BFP in May, but sadly mmc at 12 weeks (a few days before my scan). The little thing had not made it past 5.5 weeks :(
Took July off to recover and then back on it again in August. Heard/read a lot about increased fertility the few months after a miscarriage so was really convinced August would be my month, but af arrived yesterday. Absolutely devastated.
Can feel a very lonely place, especially as I either have friends who conceived within 1-3 months, or those who always knew they would have issues so started with IVF a few years back and have thankfully all been successful. I guess I just thought I would have an easy ride, as my sisters did, but no such luck.
Thought it would be nice to share the journey with others dealing with similar situations or with success stories after a miscarriage. Please say hello :)

omg vap, what fantastic news!!! I don't check on this post for a couple of days and there's a bfp already! congratulations hunny xxx

who's all testing this week - April? Northen? I've got everything crossed girls!!!

Brenna have you had anymore symptoms? could possibly be implantation that you felt, are you testing soon too?

Turi big hugs to you girl, sounds like an uncomfortable procedure, but glad it wasn't painful for you. wishing you all the best for 2016, its your year. and I can't believe how insensitive some people can be, especially in that profession! hope you're ok.

Dancing almost ov for you, get doing that baby dance!! almost the 2ww for you too, hope it's quick.

sophia I can't believe that happened when you went for your blood test, I'd have been in tears. hope you're ok. when do you get your results?

Clara and Panda, it is good to feel my cycle going back to normal too, im lucky I suppose that its happened so quickly. I'm usually 28 days, very occasionally 27 or 29 and this cycle was 29, so fingers crossed it's the same this time.

so, if I recorded 13 days from ov to AF should I normally have a 13day luteal phase then?

decided I went a bit ttc daft in my 2ww there, was constantly on Google and going mad symptom spotting, and I can't do again this time. yes, I'll still symptom spot and keep in with you girls, but I need to take a little step back and remember to live my life at the same time. I'm going to get my head stuck in a book for distraction, cook a bit more and of course I can run again now so that's like therapy in itself as well as keeping me fit and healthy!

Clare, how are you feeling lovely? xxx

sundayraspberry · 17/11/2015 22:48

Congratulations vap! Fab news! Btw I got my bfp on an ic at 11dpo and didn't even need to squint! I'm hoping it's a sign of strong hormones.

I'm really sorry to hear you've got to take a break from ttc turi, although I think it's great how quickly you've been seen about the fibroid. Fx you get a date for surgery soon.

Hi to everyone else, and hi to panda too. Good luck to all Star

Clareinthemiddle · 17/11/2015 23:07

Yay Vap!!! Fantastic news!!!

Frankiepants and Turi - I'm doing ok thanks. Waves of nausea have definitely hit over last few days and still feeling knackered most of the time, but all good otherwise.
Had scan last night and it measured exactly 7 weeks with a tiny heart beat. Huge relief and I was v emotional afterwards. I was just so nervous after last time but so far so good. Long road though...

More bfps on here please!!!! Grin

Congrats vap! Still no sign of AF - will test again tomorrow

Clare that's fab news! X

AprilShowers16 · 18/11/2015 07:14

northern me too, have you done any tests yet? I thought about picking up a test yesterday so I could do one this morning but changed my mind so going to hold out until tomorrow. Currently on cd 32 fx for us both!

Amazing news about the heartbeat clare what a relief. Hoping everything is very boring and normal from here on out :)

frankie good idea to keep distracted, this group is great for support but not so good for distracting us from TTC. Do you have any books in mind to read? Maybe we could post some recommendations!

IrisPurple1 · 18/11/2015 07:57

April you're being so good! I've got all my fingers crossed for you.

Welcome Panda. Your story sounds so sad, but this seems to be a lucky thread, so I hope your luck changes.

Frankie i like your positive message! I'm currently reading Gallows Curse by Karen Maitland. I love her books.

Sundayraspberry thank you again for the advice. I would second that it's best to contact the midwives rather than GP. They are the specialists, and they're generally easier to get hold of.

We've decided to wait another month before trying. Hopefully it was an AF but it just didn't feel right. So, CD10 and off to buy more condoms tonight!

Good luck everyone [flowers ]

frankiepants1 · 18/11/2015 08:29

April and Northern fc for good news from you tomorrow, and well done holding out so long - you are my inspiration for next month (although after buying in the boots bogof deal my stash is now up to: 9 frers, 2 superdrug early, one clearblue early and 5 ic's!)

Clare thats great to hear, what a relief to see a little strong heartbeat! will you get scanned again or will it be your official 12 week one next?

Iris I havent ready any of her bookd, will maybe need to try if come recommended! I'm reading one called The Last Days of Disco just now that's set locally, its really funny and as I started about 3 months ago I really need to finish! got a load on my kindle to keep me going a while!

have a great day girls xxx

AprilShowers16 · 18/11/2015 13:44

frankie my book recommendation is The Farm, just finished reading its. It's about a man who's mum gets committed and he's not sure whether she telling the truth or mentally ill. Sounds depressing but it's actually very intriguing as your not sure who is telling the truth or not.

My trick for waiting to test has only been buying tests the day before I want to test and being too tight to buy expansive tests.

As anyone been to see anything good in cinema recently? Thinking of going next week and open to suggestions (seen spectre)

frankiepants1 · 18/11/2015 16:11

sounds good April - excited now about getting stuck back in to reading! DH is nightshift tonight so going for an early one I think Wink

I think I will need to hide my tests as these were such a good deal and I shouldn't waste them! I could very well need them over the next few months and if I pee on them all in month one then not so much of a bargain!

xxx

Brenna24 · 18/11/2015 19:23

Frankie I am due to test on Saturday. Sitting on my hands until then.

Good to hear you had a heartbeat Clare

mascaraisamust · 18/11/2015 20:08

Clare fab news, mine is booked it nearer 9 weeks just before xmas. Did you have it done privately?

Brenna fingers crossed for you!

Vap congrats again!

Loving the book recomendations

frankiepants1 · 18/11/2015 20:12

fc for you Brenna!!!

April, not been at the movies in ages, no recommendations sorry!!! xxx

Vap0 · 18/11/2015 20:28

claireinthemiddle I've lost track a little with where you are up to. How many weeks and days are you? Did you go privately for your scan or did you manage to get one with NHS? Pleased to hear about your scan.

I've been having cramping today. Hoping like mad it is nothing. But I think after you've been through a mc you will always worry more with every twinge. I dread going to the loo and inspect the loo paper worse than looking for Ewcm.

Hope everyone else is going ok? Looking forward for the testers updates! That frer deal sounds like a bargain but yes, only if you can use only 1 a month. Maybe give them to dp and ask him to hide them and ration them to 1 a month and not to give in. Although I don't know if that would work for us.

Let's get a couple more bfp's before Xmas! Flowers

Clareinthemiddle · 18/11/2015 23:11

Vap/mascara/frankiepants - I'm 7 weeks and 2 days. Went privately as even though the gp gave me a letter to take along to the epu for an early scan, I couldn't get a specific appt, which can mean a 2-3 hour wait, and my experience the time I found out about the mmc was pretty horrific there. I would have gone sooner but the clinic advised to wait until 7 weeks to definitely detect the heart rate. They managed to get it externally as well.
Nhs 12 week scan on 22nd Dec. Not sure if I'll last until then so may have another 1 in between. I know it's silly in a way as a scan won't prevent the worse happening, but it's about the anxiety and trying to keep relaxed.

Are you planning an early scan Vap?

OP posts:
Northernlight22 · 19/11/2015 06:44

Still no AF here .... I'm wondering now if the static smiley I got was accurate on CB. Yesterday's test negative so will try again tomorrow morning

Vap0 · 19/11/2015 07:04

Good luck northern what kind of tests are you using?

claire not sure if I'll go for an early scan. I know they can't find a heartbeat before 7 weeks so won't be fussed before then but who knows. How much is a private scan? My brother in law I'm sure would do me a scan, he is a radiologist but would not want an internal one from him Blush. As you say, it doesn't stop the worst happening so I suppose time will tell. Can't wait to pick up this pregnancy pack! So is the 12 week scan the official 1st scan you would normally have then?

Clareinthemiddle · 19/11/2015 08:16

Hi Vap, yes the 12 week scan is the first one you get through the NHS unless you have a history of problems or are going through IVF.
I paid £100 for my scan in London so not cheap.

Norther light - how many dpo are you?

Dh accidentally bought test strips rather than sticks so a bit of a rush this morning trying to find appropriate receptacle. But it looks like a very very faint bfp! We could both see it but it is very faint. I've attached a photo but not sure it will show, the line is in between the test line on the right and the line where the type of paper changes on the right. Going to test again tomorrow an hopefully get a better result

TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies
AprilShowers16 · 19/11/2015 08:24

Oops I meant the test line on the left!

Brenna24 · 19/11/2015 09:01

That looks like a bfp to me April Grin congratulations.

Sophia1984 · 19/11/2015 09:50

Frankie Just realised I got overexcited about wine when I replied to you! What I meant to say was 'glad you're looing after yourself with exercise :)

Just got call from doctors - apparently my thyroid level is 'normal: no further action' but my ferritin levels are low. Explains constant tiredness but not miscarriage. Have appointment on Monday so will try and get figures for thyroid test so check they're not borderline. Not pregnancy-related, but am so tired of fatigue and brain fog I'd love a solution'!

Clarab0w · 19/11/2015 12:14

wow, april definitely looks like a line to me too! congrats, lady! beautiful news. keep those BFPs coming, ladies!

POAS this morning as now on CD30 and no sign of AF. BFN, obviously. even though i had a very stern chat with myself about first cycle post-MC being a total unknown and possibly still have weeks more to wait to return to normal (let alone conceive), there was still a part of me kind of hoping. oh well. will just resign myself to waiting for AF to make an appearance and try again next month.

in the meantime, i'll celebrate all your BFPs and good medical news Wine

Vap0 · 19/11/2015 12:49

Omg april amazing! Congratulations! Fantastic!!! Woo hoo! Flowers

More positives please!!!

Feeling very tired and crazy hungry today! Had a stronger line on ic today. Testing every other day? Can't wait to get a nice strong line! Grin

Brenna24 · 19/11/2015 18:39

The Witch is taunting me. I still have that overhot feeling i got last time I was pregnant, on and off through the day. However, I also had the usual signs AF is on her way - after a couple of days of constipation, bloating and cramps yesterday I was on and off the loo all day pooping (sorry TMI). The cramps have gone and I was expecting AF this afternoon or evening. I had one tiny bit of red when I wiped about 2.30 this afternoon. Then nothing. I had that weird huge cramp on monday lunchtime that wasn't normal for me. I have utterly no idea whether I am pregnant or just getting AF with extra hormones left over from the MMC that are playing havoc in my system.

Brenna24 · 19/11/2015 18:42

Clarab0w I am on CD34 after my MMC, I am normally about 29 or 30 days but ovulation was a few days late and I think I am due between today and Saturday. Your first cycle may well be a bit longer than usual. I am kind of wishing AF would just hurry up and arrive so that we can get started TTC, especially as if she is any later this month my fertile window will be right when OH is away for a week for work next month.
