TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies

Clareinthemiddle · 29/08/2015 13:29

I have been ttc for 10 months. I'm 34.
Took it very easy the first few months and then went for it with OPKs, no caffeine, reduced alcohol and got my BFP in May, but sadly mmc at 12 weeks (a few days before my scan). The little thing had not made it past 5.5 weeks :(
Took July off to recover and then back on it again in August. Heard/read a lot about increased fertility the few months after a miscarriage so was really convinced August would be my month, but af arrived yesterday. Absolutely devastated.
Can feel a very lonely place, especially as I either have friends who conceived within 1-3 months, or those who always knew they would have issues so started with IVF a few years back and have thankfully all been successful. I guess I just thought I would have an easy ride, as my sisters did, but no such luck.
Thought it would be nice to share the journey with others dealing with similar situations or with success stories after a miscarriage. Please say hello :)

Oh Alehouse I don't think it makes any difference. I didn't have any alcohol, no fizzy drinks, I never eat 'processed' food anyway, ate three healthy meals a day, I was taking all the vitamins. I still lost my pregnancy. I think what will be will be.

frankiepants1 · 15/11/2015 14:50

ah Alehouse, its the same advice I'd give someone else in my position so I've got to listen!!!!

and don't worry about your diet cokes, like Maud I was super healthy when pregnant and still miscarried. We all have something to blame, for me it was running and no matter how I know it wasn't that, I still feel that I pushed myself too far and never will take the risk again.

If it's bothering you though you could always try starting to cut down just now while trying? If not it will probably still play on your mind as much as running will for me - I tore a muscle and haven't been able to run for almost 2 weeks - I saw this as a good sign and practice for taking it easy for however many 2wws I have before my bfp!!!

Cd 29 today, was trying to hold out until tomorrow morning to test with a standard test but bought two today and caved and took one - solid BFN. No AF though and I tested in the afternoon so hoping that's why. Feels a bit like AF is around the corner though but the last few times she's been dead on 28 days

MaudGonneMad · 15/11/2015 16:12

It seems Alehouse/AuntBess is a PBP. Fuck sake. Getting some sort of kick out of trolling miscarriage boards.

sundayraspberry · 15/11/2015 16:54

Seriously!? Some sick people out there! Good riddance!

Clarab0w · 15/11/2015 17:19

Sorry maud, what's a PBP? (Newbie)

MaudGonneMad · 15/11/2015 17:19

Previously banned poster.

frankiepants1 · 15/11/2015 18:01

Why would someone do that?! sicko Angry

well, im out ladies - she officially got me. I knew all day something felt different and here she is! I feel so sad, last month was great cos I felt like I was returning to normal after mc 22.09, and now it's just a reminder that I'm not pregnant, AGAIN.

At least she didn't show up after I'd wasted more money poas tomorrow morning!

AprilShowers16 · 15/11/2015 19:08

Sorry to hear that frankie feel like it's only a matter of time before she gets me too. Have a drink or two :) x

frankiepants1 · 15/11/2015 20:25

April I have a bottle of red and s big bar of dairy milk for tonight!
fc she doesn't appear for you hun.

anyway, I've always wanted a September baby Wink (if I had been pregnant this time my due date would have been 7 days before my little boys birthday! would have been an expensive time of year!)

I've been out for a run to clear my head, and once I've had a good cry in the shower I'm all about the positivity! I'm here to cheer you girls on and focus on next month.

Thanks for all your support and encouragement so far girls, I'm really glad I found you xxx

Northernlight22 · 15/11/2015 20:28

So it's cd34 today, solid smiley face on CBD on 31st Oct but still negative on FRer and no sign of AF

Hmmmmmmmmm

Northernlight22 · 15/11/2015 20:29

Sorry to hear that Frankie ... Enjoy your bottle of Red!

frankiepants1 · 15/11/2015 20:38

ru testing tomorrow April if AF hasn't shown?
Northern, have you tested yet? xxx

MaudGonneMad · 15/11/2015 20:39

Just heard from two friends that they are both expecting their second baby. I'm happy for them, but it still hurts. Had a little cry.

I did an ovulation test earlier, to see where my body was at. It came up as a very strong positive - do they pick up hcg hormone does anyone know?

frankiepants1 · 15/11/2015 20:49

Sorry Northern, I posted before I refreshed the page! Blush how long is your cycle usually?

Maud I have heard of so many pregnancies since mc, we're meeting with a crowd of friends on Sat and one is about 14 weeks. I just keep thinking 'I should be 17 weeks. ........'
with most other people tho I keep reminding myself I don't know their struggle (I know the friend I'll see on Sat hasn't struggled) in ttc - she doesn't know about my mc and I'm now reluctant to say given she just announced last week. But one of our other friends going can't conceive naturally, which she does know about, and I hope shes ok about it all.

I have heard opks pick up hcg but don't have any experience of it hun, sorry.

I'm off for my 'glass' (ahem) of red Grin

xxx

Brenna24 · 15/11/2015 21:06

So sorry Frankie

Maud, I believe the OPKs do pick up HCG too as it is very similar. Maybe POAS for HCG tomorrow morning.

Today I went to one of my great niece's christening. It meant getting up before 6 this morning and driving 260 miles in total in terrible weather, but another great day was had. My brother went too with his family and my older sister (the one who is the grandmother). Plus my step mum and nieces and nephews. I am very lucky with my family, friends and in-laws. It makes me all the more determined to bring some of my own into the mix as our families are so wonderful. It would be a great environment to bring kids up in, both in scotland with my family and in italy with the in-laws. What a pair of amazing places to shuttle between.

AprilShowers16 · 16/11/2015 07:50

frankie yup tested again this morning, bfn again.

northern it's so frustrating isn't it? I want AF to just show up if she's going to so I don't get my hopes up

I'm on cd 30 , the last two cycles have been 28 but when I was pg before I didn't test until 35 which is when I got the bfp

Northernlight22 · 16/11/2015 08:14

Cycles usually 31 days but I've only had 2 cycles since my mc and one of those I didn't really know how long it was because of the mc.

Lying in bed now debating testing again..... Think I may wait til tomorrow x

Pandapop1 · 16/11/2015 09:05

Hi Ladies,

So sorry to hear about all your losses :(

We're TTC #1 also after 3 years of fairly traumatic miscarriages (partial molar, one ruptured ectopic where I lost my tube, MMC at 12 weeks etc.. etc..)

Every TWW sends me slightly mental and then if AF arrives it's almost as bad as going through another loss.

We've had all the tests and we've been told repeatedly it's just been bad luck. We're really starting to feel the pressure though. I'm now 35 and husband 40.

Anyway, just wanted to say I totally sympathise with everyone here. The new baby / pregnancy announcements are especially tough to deal with.

Nice to know that I'm not the only one going through all this.

xxxx

Brenna24 · 16/11/2015 09:18

Hi Panda. Sorry you are here but welcome. That sounds awful. I hope the next one is your lucky one. If it helps 35 is still young. I didn't get married and didn;t start ttc until 37. I'm going to be 38 in January.

Sophia1984 · 16/11/2015 10:31

Sorry for your BFN Frankie :( Enjoy your wine. Glad to hear you're taking care of yourself with wine.

Welcome Panda (to the club no one wants to be in). I'm so sorry to hear what you've been through - it sounds awful. You must be very strong.

I've just been to doctor to ask to get my thyroid checked as I m constantly tired and brain foggy. I have a history of anxiety/depression so whenever I have any other symptom they try to blame it on stress.

Turns out when I had bloods done a few years ago I had some signs of hypothyroidism, but was never told! If I find out I could have been being treated all this time I will be livid! Also worried as we have been very actively TTC this month and untreated hypothyroidism can cause miscarriage :-( Got blood tests tomorrow, so hopefully can start treatment ASAP if they find anything.
