TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies

Clareinthemiddle · 29/08/2015 13:29

I have been ttc for 10 months. I'm 34.
Took it very easy the first few months and then went for it with OPKs, no caffeine, reduced alcohol and got my BFP in May, but sadly mmc at 12 weeks (a few days before my scan). The little thing had not made it past 5.5 weeks :(
Took July off to recover and then back on it again in August. Heard/read a lot about increased fertility the few months after a miscarriage so was really convinced August would be my month, but af arrived yesterday. Absolutely devastated.
Can feel a very lonely place, especially as I either have friends who conceived within 1-3 months, or those who always knew they would have issues so started with IVF a few years back and have thankfully all been successful. I guess I just thought I would have an easy ride, as my sisters did, but no such luck.
Thought it would be nice to share the journey with others dealing with similar situations or with success stories after a miscarriage. Please say hello :)

Fantastic news mascara and Sunday I'm so excited for you!!! AF showed her face right on time on Saturday, so it's cd4 here and nearly 6 months after mcSad... I felt so low on Saturday but now I'm better and want to cut out sugar and get back into running, losing some weight would do me good to be honest.

AprilShowers16 · 11/11/2015 07:57

Sorry to hear that sakura glad you're feeling a bit better now though. I've been trying to use TTC as motivation to be a bit fitter and eat better. Have you heard of Madeline Shaw? We used her book and there are quite a few of her recipes that have become staples for us now. Just bought Jamie Oliver's new one but not as convinced by it yet

frankiepants1 · 11/11/2015 08:07

April I don't know alot about implantation bleeding, sorry. fc it was though - is it the weekend you're testing?

Sakura getting fit and cutting out sugar can only be a good thing for you, and will help your mood and energy levels too - I love running so will be good to have someone to talk about that with! ?? (can't run until the weekend as have torn a muscle ??)

so, BFN as expected for me this morning. I think I'm just preparing for AF to come now. I know it's early at 9/10dpo but I think these cramps can only mean AF for me and I don't want to be getting my hopes. not feeling positive today girls!! xxx

frankiepants1 · 11/11/2015 10:00

my smiley faces have came out as '??' - must remember to stop using them xxx

Sophia1984 · 11/11/2015 10:22

Hmm think that getting a BBT thermometer was a bad idea for a recovering hypochondriac! I've noticed sub-97.7 temps on 3 days and am now freaking out that I could have an underactive thyroid and that is why I ha a blighted ovum. I have had problems with fatigue for years but am not overweight and have no problems with hair loss. I'm worried now about TTC this cycle in case I get pregnant but miscarry because of this. My mum has thyroid problems. Will make appointment with doc but should I continue TTC before I find out? Or am I just being over-anxious when most of my temps are in normal range?

MountainMouse · 11/11/2015 10:30

Congratulations on the BFP's!

Sorry about the AF Sakura. Definitely agree about doing more exercise, I need to get on it too.
You don't sound like out yet Frankie.
I'm not sure about implantation- sorry April,

I'm 7 dpo. So just waiting. Boring.

Sophia I was worried about thyroid problems and ask the doctor last time I went and she said she thinks I would have much more ill or have more problems. But when I had a blood test she test thyroid incase. I'd say get a blood test just to be sure? But keep ttc at the same time- the results should come back quick hopefully.

Brown bleeding Confused

Sophia1984 · 11/11/2015 11:21

Oh mascara :-( I know how worrying it must be but could be totally normal. Sounds like old blood? Fingers crossed xx

frankiepants1 · 11/11/2015 11:43

mascara sounds like old blood, hugs and fc for you xxx

Clarab0w · 11/11/2015 12:06

Hugs, mascara, know how frightening that must be but sure it's normal and everything is as it should be. Sorry you're having to ride this out though x

sundayraspberry · 11/11/2015 15:50

Ditto what everyone else has said mascara. Hoping it's okay for you. Could it be anything to do with the progesterone you're on, kicking in and doing its job? X

Clara I think getting drunk post mc is obligatory! Repeat as necessary! Don't know what made me test yesterday, I was half asleep still, call it intuition. Of course you can claim collective victory Smile I'm still hopeful for some more bfp from this thread soon tho. Good luck to all Star

Iris I had a v v light first af. Had only stopped spotting from the mc a week earlier so thought it was just that again.

Clareinthemiddle · 11/11/2015 17:46

Oh Mascara it could well be delayed implantation bleeding, esp if brown. Can u go for an early scan?
My colleague bled loads until 12 weeks and all was fine. I know how terrifying it is though. I am knicker checking every loo trip Confused

Sophia - definitely get bloods done to rule everything out.

April - could well be implantation. How many dpo are you now?

Im nervously creeping towards scan on Monday. Waves of nausea, cramping on an off. Trying to stay positive all will be fine!!

mascara Im so sorry to hear about the brown spotting/bleeding, I do hope it is nothing to worry about. Thinking of you.

sophia are temps below 97.7 bad? I have lots of those. Temps attached. You've got me worrying now....

Wishing the time away to my blood test and the results to see if ov actually happened...

Brenna24 · 11/11/2015 19:27

Hugs Mascara. It could well be old implantation bleeding. Scary for us though after previous experience. Fx all is ok.

I spent last night with my niece. Unless there is a miracle it looks like she has just miscarried. She has a scan on monday to find out (had a scan on saturday which showed a small sac and couldn't see anything else, booked in for the monday 9 days later in the hope of seeing growth, heavy bleeding with clots and cramping monday, tuesday and today). It is not looking good but we need to wait to monday to find out for sure. At least she knew about mine and called me for support, so she is not alone.

mascaraisamust · 11/11/2015 22:53

Seems to have disappeared for time time being. Going to retest on Saturday before this family party x

MountainMouse · 12/11/2015 08:09

Mascara- glad it's stopped and fc everything is fine.

Brenna so sorry for you niece- she is lucky to have you there supporting her.

Sakura03 · 12/11/2015 09:02

Glad to hear the brown bleeding has stopped mascara. I went for my first run (jog) in ages this morning yay! So glad I did. I've been thinking about going back to my doctor as it's almost 6 months since mc - I came off bc Jan 14 and I'd like to have one of those scans where they can see if your tubes are okay etc. (Can't remember the name of the procedure). Dh is probably going to have a sa I'd think which he'd hate but hey ho. I phoned my GP yesterday and I'm booked in for 1sr December.

Clarab0w · 12/11/2015 10:45

mascara - thinking of you, hope everything is okay and so glad it's settled down. hope this pregnancy is very boring from here on in for you.

frankiepants have you caved in and tested yet? anyone else POAS this weekend? i've got a sore back and cramps so think AF might show up early given that this cycle will probably be a bit messed up...will be massively disappointed if so but at least i can get on with things next month.

rhodes15 do you have a scan tomorrow? if so, fingers crossed it's all good news.

and brenna, so sorry to hear about your niece, but mountainmouse is right, she's incredibly lucky to have someone who understands by her side as she goes through it.

AprilShowers16 · 12/11/2015 11:13

frankie I think I'm going to test on Sunday, that's when AF is due so not sure if I should wait for Monday though

brenna so sorry to hear about your niece, one of the hardest things about my mc was feeling so alone and not really understanding what was going on so it really is so good that she has had you to talk to, let us know what hapens at her next scan so we can be thinking of her

I had an amusing moment yesterday when DH tentitvely asked me about AF. Turned out he had spotted a tissue with some pink nail varnish on it in the toilet and panicked!

Have had a really good week this week where lots of other things in life seem to be going well and falling into place, a BFP would round things off nicely! FX

DancingAngel15 · 12/11/2015 13:06

Hi I am TTC #1 also 5 months now after MC ! My mc was in June at 10 weeks.
I am now taking pregnacare conception tablets and using ovulation test sticks !
I have BD before and after LH surge! I'm still trying to get the hang of it !
I'm getting really frustrated and annoyed each month that goes by!
Specially when there's people around having babies and close friends becoming pregnant !

Would love to be your TTC friend :-)

My name is Amy & I'm 24 almost 25 :-)

DancingAngel15 · 12/11/2015 13:08

I also will have a 1st cousin born on the same day my due date would have been !

Sophia1984 · 12/11/2015 16:19

Hi Vap0 - apparently it's mostly important that your chart shows a change after ovulation, which I think yours does :) I think the digital thermometers aren't as accurate as they claim, as I got my partner to test it and he apparently has hypothermia! The average range of basal body temperatures is meant to be between 97.7-98.2 Fahrenheit, but apparently normal temperatures may be different from one woman to another. I'm such a hypochrondriac I think it's a bad idea for me to have another thing to test and worry about!

Brenna24 · 12/11/2015 18:10

Welcome Dancing

I normally range between 96.5 and 97.5 and I always feel warm. Everyone is different.

Vap0 · 12/11/2015 18:14

sophia you made me laugh! And you've put my mind at rest Smile
Temps today suggest I've ovulated.
Welcome dancing, sorry you've had to join but pleased to have you.
How is everything getting on mascara

Brenna24 · 12/11/2015 18:17

Thank you everyone for the good thoughts for my niece.
