TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies

Clareinthemiddle · 29/08/2015 13:29

I have been ttc for 10 months. I'm 34.
Took it very easy the first few months and then went for it with OPKs, no caffeine, reduced alcohol and got my BFP in May, but sadly mmc at 12 weeks (a few days before my scan). The little thing had not made it past 5.5 weeks :(
Took July off to recover and then back on it again in August. Heard/read a lot about increased fertility the few months after a miscarriage so was really convinced August would be my month, but af arrived yesterday. Absolutely devastated.
Can feel a very lonely place, especially as I either have friends who conceived within 1-3 months, or those who always knew they would have issues so started with IVF a few years back and have thankfully all been successful. I guess I just thought I would have an easy ride, as my sisters did, but no such luck.
Thought it would be nice to share the journey with others dealing with similar situations or with success stories after a miscarriage. Please say hello :)

Ahhhh Sunday!!!

sundayraspberry · 10/11/2015 07:31

These babies had better arrive on the same day or I'll be disappointed!

IrisPurple1 · 10/11/2015 08:08

Morning ladies,

Just caught up on all the posts. Woo Hoo congratulations Mascara and Sundayraspberry!!!! FlowersI'm so happy for you.

Frankie, Nona and April I have my FX for you! I had the AF cramps when I found out I was pregnant too.

I know it's agonising waiting to test, but try and hold out til AF is late before testing, otherwise results can be inconclusive. Good idea Frankie to take them out of the bathroom!

Mascara I'm glad your scan went well. I don't know anything about fertility treatment, Does NHS Choices give any info?

I thought my first AF had arrived yesterday, but I hardly had any blood and now it's dried up. I was 27d post MC and the 11th day without any MC spotting. I'd had sore boobs for those 11d, which I used to have in the 2ww.

Has anyone else had a mini-period or false start the first cycle?

I also had very thick CM about a week ago. It was like jelly and very slightly coloured. I've never had this before. Could this be from the MC or EWCM? Has anyone else has this?

Like April said, you just don't trust your body any more.

I can't wait to start trying again and join you all in the symptom-spotting!

Vap0 · 10/11/2015 08:50

Congratulations sunday and mascara how mammy months after mc were you both?

Brenna24 · 10/11/2015 08:56

Congratulations Mascara and Sunday. I am so happy for you. Grin

Vap0 · 10/11/2015 08:59

mascara quick question
I remember you were having a private appointment and you were prescribed famara (which I hear is a more gentle but still as effective drug as clomid).
Did they not check if you were ovulating before prescribing? Did you know you were ovulating? Or did they think you weren't ovulating "strong" enough. Sorry you've probably written all of this before so had a quick trawl through but can't see.
Also, is your Dr giving you progesterone now? Was that easy to get prescribed? How much is that?
I know you said appointment was £130, how much will the femara have cost? Will there have been follow up appointments? Any ideas on total costs for the month if you had gone through with it?
Sorry for all the questions! I'm at desperation levels!
Very much thinking of getting clomid or femara for December.

Clareinthemiddle · 10/11/2015 09:06

Yay!!! I actually punched the air when I read your message Mascara Grin Fab news and here's hoping for lots more!!!

Frankiepants - yes I've got the veiny boobs this time too. Feels like mine are growing everyday! Positive symptom for sure.

Nona11 - must be so hard being 9 months since your mc, but being 4 days late is a good sign. I'd wait out until Wednesday if you can. I waited it out (some how) until I was 6 days late. Fingers crossed X

aaaaahhhh mascara and Sunday!!!!!! so excited for you both, love love love seeing the words BFP on this thread - Clare you've started a lucky thread!!

so I did not heed my own advice and did an IC this morning - bfn which is no surprise! I'm only 8/9 dpo - I'll save my frer for Thursday (or tomorrow?! aaaaaarghhhhhh!)

xxx

Clarab0w · 10/11/2015 12:34

wow wow wow - two amazing BFPS - congratulations sundayraspberry and mascara! Star Star Star SO excited for you both, that's amazing news! sunday did you test again just for fun?!

wish i could say i felt optimistic this month but combination of it being first month post-MC and general post-MC 'it'll never happen for me' hangover and have to admit to not being very well-behaved, got drunk at a work event last night. it's so hard to behave when you feel like getting pregnant again is such an impossibility.

trying to chart still though to get more of an idea of what's happening in that uterus of mine but still a total amateur! does anyone know if it's normal to have two temp spikes? i had one last week which i assumed was OV (and CM etc seemed to tie in with too), but had a much bigger one today. or is that the booze?! continues kicking self hard

Northernlight22 · 10/11/2015 15:04

Aaaaaaaah!

Congrats Mascara and Sunday!

Mascara - I'm moving end of the month so definitely keeping busy!

So tempted to test early ..... So so
tempted!!

Clarab0w · 10/11/2015 15:10

and frankiepants, never mind that BFN, veiny boobs are a great sign, everything crossed your number's about to come up too!

Sophia1984 · 10/11/2015 16:58

Congratulations both! I had a feeling it would be your month for some reason mascara!

Day 2 testing with opk today on cycle day 9. Been trying anyway :)

AprilShowers16 · 10/11/2015 17:10

Ahhh congrats mascara and sunday amazing news! This is making me want to test early too northern :) I don't think i have time to get into town to buy an early test frankie so maybe for the best

AprilShowers16 · 10/11/2015 17:10

Ps. No symptoms for me today, all my aches and pains have gone so just the waiting game - boring

frankiepants1 · 10/11/2015 17:26

Thanks Clara! I think you needed to get a drunk night out of the way, and we're allowed to feel sorry for ourselves and get drunk - dont beat yourself up about it.
but it WILL happen for you again. charting will let you get to know your body better so can only be a good thing.

Northern and April, I think I'm more than likely going to use one of my frers tomorrow.
cramps and creamy cm continuing, not sure if good signs or just my body post mc still! trying not to get my hopes up, and veiny bbs have gone again! xxx

Northernlight22 · 10/11/2015 17:46

I don't think this month is my no tho be honest, but I'm keeping optimistic!

Northernlight22 · 10/11/2015 17:47

That was supposed to say not my month! Stupid phone!

Clarab0w · 10/11/2015 18:42

ha, northernlight22, maybe it's a freudian slip and it's NOT your no month but your yes month! Grin

thanks for easing my conscience a bit, frankiepants - i know i probably shouldn't be drinking like a fish but kind of in a state of disbelief about ever getting pg again so kind of used it as an excuse. making all the usual never again oaths today though!

can't believe how chuffed i am for your BFPs, ladies. sundayraspberry you said you'd claim any BFPs as a collective victory, so i'm going to follow suit!

mascaraisamust · 10/11/2015 19:26

Ladies I have faith that we can have more bfps this month. In shock. Mc end of August. Had one lonnnng cycle, this is the second cycle!

vap I am ovulating, but not strong enough, which was having an impact on the LP and progesteeone levels. First private appointment was £200, had bloods done at GP after they wrote to them (as they said they wouldn't help me before hand). Low vitanin D3 so got preacribed a high dose twice a day. NHS referal gave me progesterone (which the private consultant said he'd prescribe if they wouldn't). £130 to have internal scan and agree treatment plan yesterday (femara and progesterone) and got the bfp today. He said he wouldn't charge for writing a prescription, I'd just pay the chemist costs.

Last time I got a bfp I used Preseed for the first time, this month I did the same. Vitamin d3, standard folic and cyclogest a few days after ovulation and again conceived the day or after the peak (kept going for three days after)

You can all do it ladies!!

frankiepants1 · 10/11/2015 20:07

mascara you're like a BFP cheerleader, I like it!!! We CAN DO it ladies!!!!

Clara, if it makes you feel any better I had a good few drinks on Sat and am also going to have a glass of red wine tonight Shock

were going through to Edinburgh tomorrow to stay with SIL, not sure if u should test tomorrow morning or just wait until Friday until home? will likely be drinks with dinner tomorrow too so not sure what to do?!!!
xxx

mascaraisamust · 10/11/2015 21:14

Bizarrely my edd is the date I concieved with my mc (or very much around it). Frankie I am definately cheering you on, you've done so well not to test! When is AF due again? I'd do one before you go so you can relax guilt free!

mascaraisamust · 10/11/2015 21:14

Or maybe not, If you get a bfp Wink

frankiepants1 · 10/11/2015 21:27

ah mascara, hopefully now you can think of that date in a different way - never to forget but it's for happier reasons now xxx

and ooops, I have tested! used a cheapy this morning, but really I should know better as they'll have less sensitivity won't they?
AF is due Sat, however I ovulated on CD16 so does that mean AF due on Mon? (14 days after?)
I'm more than likely going to test tomorrow anyway - eeek xxx

AprilShowers16 · 10/11/2015 22:18

Let us know how it goes tomorrow frankie!

Tmi alert but after I posted saying I'd had no more symptoms I went to the loo and saw I had a brown patch of discharge. Seeing as I had that bad pain a few days ago do you think this could be the implatation bleed?
