TTC #1 after miscarriage - looking for some buddies

1000 replies

Clareinthemiddle · 29/08/2015 13:29

I have been ttc for 10 months. I'm 34.
Took it very easy the first few months and then went for it with OPKs, no caffeine, reduced alcohol and got my BFP in May, but sadly mmc at 12 weeks (a few days before my scan). The little thing had not made it past 5.5 weeks :(
Took July off to recover and then back on it again in August. Heard/read a lot about increased fertility the few months after a miscarriage so was really convinced August would be my month, but af arrived yesterday. Absolutely devastated.
Can feel a very lonely place, especially as I either have friends who conceived within 1-3 months, or those who always knew they would have issues so started with IVF a few years back and have thankfully all been successful. I guess I just thought I would have an easy ride, as my sisters did, but no such luck.
Thought it would be nice to share the journey with others dealing with similar situations or with success stories after a miscarriage. Please say hello :)

I've got a CB which I am going to use in the morning as I need to test before this appointment! I'm not hopeful about this cycle though for some reason Sad I'll only be 9/10dpo tomorrow Hmm

I wish I'd have moved the appointment to later in the week but I thought AF was due today, not Tuesday!

mascaraisamust · 08/11/2015 21:21

Or should I hold out....... And go anyway.....

It's a lot of money if by some small miracle I do get a bfp though....

Advice??

Best of luck ladies, someone must get a bfp this cycle!

sundayraspberry · 08/11/2015 21:51

I'd go anyway. If you are preg and you've 'wasted' money on a clinic appointment does it really matter? If you aren't pg you want to get the meds ready for taking as soon as AF appears x

Northernlight22 · 08/11/2015 22:00

Step away from the tests Frankie and mascara .... Naughty ladies!!

I'm keeping myself busy, we're moving house so I'm trying to keep my mind occupied with that stuff not counting the days til I test (5 sleeps!)

frankiepants1 · 08/11/2015 22:12

yep, I'd go with what Sunday says - if you are pg you'll be too estatic to bother about the money and if not you'll want the drugs on hand. I'm hoping it's a waste of money for you!!!

ah northern I know! AF due on Sat for me but I know I will not last until then before I test!

whats everyone's symptoms just now? I'm going mad symptom spotting I think, had creamy cm the last 5 days, and also cramps which have got alot stronger today - have been blooming googling all day - someone slap me!!! (permission to virtual slap, or join me in going mad!!!)

xxx

frankiepants1 · 09/11/2015 06:32

morning all! sorry to post again so soon.......cramps woke me up a couple of times through the night and was convinced AF was here early, but nothing so far.
hmmmmmmm xxx

mascaraisamust · 09/11/2015 07:04

Frankie I was exactly the same, woke up at 3am with cramps. Thought AF/spotting would be here and nothing. Dull ache, feels like AF is on the horizon Hmm test on the side, not done it Grin going to wait until 14dpo as I've now been told by you guys! Temp is 36.64 this morning, expected it to be in the 35s the day before AF is due.

Fingers crossed for all.

Clareinthemiddle · 09/11/2015 07:23

I ditto Sunday's comments. Just go anyway as you'll kick yourself if af shows and you've lost the appt.

I had cramps!!! Felt totally like af was on her way but then nothing.

Fingers and toes crossed for more bfps this month!!!!!

frankiepants1 · 09/11/2015 08:04

oooh girls, all these cramps and nothing - on total knicker watch now! (was bad enough checking cm without now checking for early AF!)

positive thoughts!

(and yes, of course I did a test!!! 7 poss 8 dpo, did I expect any more than a BFN?! just a cheapy tho, im saving my frer for later in the week, just had that urge to poas!! it takes over!!)

good luck today mascara Smile - that's a great sign if your temp is still up isn't it? xxx

AprilShowers16 · 09/11/2015 17:06

Hello here I am 11dpo starting to find it difficult not to test now. I really want to wait until AF is late which I think will be Sunday but not sure if I can manage it - but also can't face a BFN! I had some really bad pains towards the end of last week that kept me awake and some back pain. On Sunday had some stomach pain which reminds me a lot of the pain I felt when I was pg/mc before so that could be a good sign but also worries me that even if I am pg things aren't right. So in conclusion I think I've convinced myself I'm pg but also scared that there is something wrong. excellent.

Remind me who else is testing on soon?

Northern - Friday?
Frankie?

frankiepants1 · 09/11/2015 17:12

such a confusing time isn't it April? I'm constantly swaying from feeling it must be pregnancy symptoms, to then convincing myself it's AF.

I can understand why you're finding it hard to test, I will too when I'm 11dpo - im finding it hard now at 7/8dpo!!
do you have tests in the house? If not could you hold out until Thursday to buy some and then test Friday at the earliest?

AF due for me Sat or Sun, I'll be amazed if I can last until Thursday without testing! (I'll be 10/11dpo then)

xxx

AprilShowers16 · 09/11/2015 17:43

Ah frankie our AFs are due together :) Hopefully they're off hanging out together or something.

What kind of test would I need to test on Friday? Last time I just used standard poundland test to be thrifty. It's actually my bday on Thursday so I don't want to test then and get a BFN but would ideally like to know if it's a BFP before the weekend as celebrating bday with family and would like to know if I can drink.

I don't usually get many AF symptoms but to be honest since my mc I don't trust my body anymore!

mascaraisamust · 09/11/2015 18:23

Oh mass testing! Someone will get a BFP this weekend.

Been to the appointment. Had an internal scan, didn't realise that was happening today but all was good, weren't concerned and ovaries looked fine, few follicles but no cysts etc. Letter gone to DH gp so he can have sperm analysis done.

No prescription today though, he wants the SA results back and then I just need to call up once results are through and he will write the prescription with no cost.

Prescribing letrozole though (femara)?? Never heard of this? Instead of Clomid?

No Af yet. Just tomorrow to go!

frankiepants1 · 09/11/2015 19:14

sounds promising mascara, apart from the waiting but doesn't sound like they're concerned about anything, are u feeling ok about it all?

April I would use a first response early results as says can detect from 6 days before AF due - there's an ordinary first response too so make sure you get the early results as they packaging is very similar and I got the wrong one in asda last time - im sure superdrug do a 2 pack for about £9?

haha, a mass test!! This board is going to go nuts at the weekend! there's must be some BFPs surely?! xxx

mascaraisamust · 09/11/2015 19:29

First hurdle is keeping AF away tomorrow, if I get past that then I'll get a little excited even though the progesterone will be keeping it away really, doesn't mean I'll get my bfp

I was a bit disappointed I didn't get the prescription this cycle but I can see the logic in testing DH too. But at least I'll be on it at the start of December if I need it (hoping I can do it on my own this cycle or next). And I've got progesterone for three cycles so that's something.

If I don't get a bfp cycle I am having a month off (not really but sort of). There's loads I want to do and I've been putting it off just in case!

sundayraspberry · 09/11/2015 19:40

I've heard femara as an alternative to clomid tho not sure the difference between them. I'd want to ask the Dr why tho just out of interest mascara.

When are you moving northern? Sounds like a busy time for you! At least you are distracted.

I'm testing weds and then prob sat also. No symptoms at all. Bored. Am hoping if I don't get bfp then I at least get a natural AF otherwise I've got to take provera to induce a bleed before starting clomid.

mascaraisamust · 09/11/2015 19:49

I just thought it was the medical name for clomid but it was only when I came away and looked I realised it was the alternative. Ah well, it's next cycle now so no point worrying.

I'm symptomless too Sunday. Apart from last nights cramps and a bit sore but nothing like when I got my Bfp.

April, you are doing really well not to test!

Sophia1984 · 09/11/2015 22:13

Hello all, been off for a while drinking wine and not symptom-spotting! Pee'd on an OPK today - not ovulating yet, which is good as DP is in a foul mood. I'm trying to 'help' him stop smoking by not buying cigarettes for him when I'm out, but he gets really stressed out without them so has been avoiding me all evening. It's his strategy to avoid conflict/saying something he shouldn't. Hopefully he'll feel better tomorrow... What's sad is that he managed to give up completely when I was pregnant for the baby's sake but started again after our miscarriage. Not sure if it's a battle worth fighting but cigarettes are so expensive!

Fingers crossed for all of you waiting and testing :)

Brenna24 · 09/11/2015 22:26

Fx for all those testing.

Sophia, I hope that he decides to give them up again.

Nona11 · 09/11/2015 22:42

Ugh pulling my hair out.
It's been 9 months now since my miscarriage on top of the stress of that and other events. I caved last month and was prescribed antidepressants which have been a God send!
Was due af on the 6th had a ridiculous light brown tinge when I wiped barely there (tmi sorry!) but that was it no cramps or any more coloured cm after. Tested next day bfn but I didn't test positive until late last time. I've not had a period this late since coming off birth control when my cycles were so off. I'm just debating now whether to test tomorrow or wait until Wednesday when I'll be 6 days late like last time.

I also feel a bit guilty for being upset if I am as the due date would be very close to my last pregnancies due date :/ sorry for the ramble I'm just feeling everything right now.

frankiepants1 · 09/11/2015 23:42

hey nona! no need to apologise hun, we all know how you feel here so ramble away!
good for you going for antidepressants, sounds like they're helping you with dealing with your mc and everything else.
I am the worst for testing early and giving advice on waiting, however in the past if I've wanted to wait a day or so I've put my tests out of the loo and got up and peed as quick as I could, I then wouldn't test without it being fmu so that took care of getting a day out of the way!

so, brand new symptom for me.......I've never known what people have meant when they talked about veiny bbs as never experienced it - until now! just heading to bed and when I whipped my bra off (well, took it off to go to bed!) I noticed definite veinage! has anyone else ever experienced this before? I've had a right good look and I'm definitely not imaging this!

god I am a symptom spotting lunatic! ??????

mascaraisamust · 10/11/2015 06:45

Got a bfp ladies! Tested early on a CB digi. In total shock! Feel different to last time. No real symptoms. Wishing you more bfds this weekend

sundayraspberry · 10/11/2015 07:01

Yey mascara! Sods law with the appointment yesterday worked! Congratulations!

mascaraisamust · 10/11/2015 07:09

I know! He said he'll prescribe more progesterone so it's not all bad. Hoping soooo much this one sticks! thsnks for all your support. Fingers crossed for you all xx

sundayraspberry · 10/11/2015 07:23

Err I admit to being jealous of your bfp so tested myself with ic. Err..Bfp! Grin gonna test again tomorrow with a 'proper' test but tentatively excited!
