Hi everyone,

Here's our shiny new thread continuing from the old 'who wants to buddy up' thread (sorry, don't know how to link). I'm sure some regulars will be along in a minute and also anyone else who is ttc and would like some company is very welcome to join- we're very friendly!

Thank you everyone for your comments. I tested this morning and of course got a bfn. I am in Wales now and have brought a test with me. Won't do it unless I'm late now. Fx for Tuesday. Thanks again everyone. I'll keep you all posted on progress.

Has anyone realised that if we conceive this cycle there may be a possibility of a leap year baby. My EDD would be 24th Feb.

I was in the same school year with a leap year birthday person, in our last year when we were all turning 16 she was turning 4, as she had of course only had 4 birthdays!

Violet yes I have and I haven't ovulated yet, have you? I have also thought about a leap year baby, I haven't checked my EDD, you have tempted me now! :)

Issie mine should be between the 4th and 6th, my apps are disagreeing with one another hmm maybe I shouldn't have more than one fertility app...

Omg I hadn't thought about the leap year, my EDD would be 29th so leap day!! Though unlikely that would be the birth day as would probably have a c-section so a few weeks earlier.

My EDD would be 26 February but as I'm not sure of my cycle length, it could be anything!

I'm trying not to get too worried about the fact I haven't ovulated yet.

Violet I'm using ovia, I really like it but I can see myself getting obsessed with it!

Hello, please can I join you?! Have caught up on the thread, but not on the previous one (sorry!). Very new at this, and still studying all the acronyms!! DH and I are ttc #1, just coming to the end of cycle 2. Af is due tomorrow, but I got impatient and tested yesterday... got a bfn and doubt anything miraculous will have happened by tomorrow! Close friend is expecting a boy in Oct, so she spent last night regaling me with their name choices, pram choices, birth plan choices...grrrr!

Hiya Chocfireguard welcome! You never know, some people don't test positive until AF is a week or more late, hope AF stays away for you. But if it doesn't theres a nice bunch of us here to chat too! Does your friend know you are trying?

Pink I'm also worrying about the fact I've not ovulated yet or more that the opks are very very light at the moment and its CD12. But then I worried about it last month and I did get a positive opk on CD15, so theres time yet and I'm sure no need for both of us to be stressing!

,Issie are you smeping again? I've pretty much managed to stick to it so far - done CD7, 10 and 12.

Hi choc, welcome. Sorry you got a bfn, that sucks Sad especially with your friend expecting. It's baby-central around me at the moment, with lots of 'we were just seeing how it went and boom, pregnant first month!'- grrr, how lovely for you. Not bitter much Wink

violet think I'll try and stick to SMEP. Dtd today (cd9) and will try every other day now until positive opk then the 3 days in a row thing. Fx!

Haha, Issue, bitter and twisted we shall be!! Violet, nobody in real life knows as I don't want to get other people's hopes up or tongues wagging... SO nice to have somewhere to come and share the total obscenity of it all!

In my naivety, what is SMEP? Grin

choc SMEP is 'sperm meets egg plan' and is basically just a pattern on dtd that is meant to be really effective when ttc. You dtd every other day from cd8, start opks cd10 and when you get a positive OPK you dtd 3 days in a row, skip a day then dtd once more for luck. (Is that right violet?)

Yes that's SMEP, Chocfireguard four of us from thread 1 tried for the first time last month and two got upduffed, so not bad odds really from our extremely small scale mn smep experiment.

Love it!!! Thanks ladies! I shall be following to the letter. For the past 2 months, I haven't used an opk (just made DH dtd every 2-3 days, then every day for a week from cd10), so wanted to this month, and now know how!

Violet, are you still waiting on a positive opk? Any luck?

I might try SMEP next month if I don't get a BFP.

I didn't use my opk today but will in the morning.

Nicky Yaaaayyy your back! Glad you got things sorted with OH and are back to ttc. Where abouts are you in your cycle?

Right well Sparkles got her bfp and so did Looking and Maybe and Firsttimenewbie. Also Brooke but we are waiting to hear back from here about her viability scan in a week or so's time. Brooke if you are lurking I've got my fx'd for you and hope your ok hun x

I'm currently CD13 and not yet ov'd.

choc pink hopefully youve both been lucky this cycle and won't need to try smep.

Choc hmmm your system sounds promising. Maybe just bring the opks back and then start your week of dtd when you get a nearly positive opk and then your definitely concentrating your efforts at the right time. I'm debating whether or not to stick with smep or try to improve it with a 6 day dtd-a-thon starting from tomorrow until sunday. Hmmm decisions decisions...

I'm cd10 now (31 day cycle) so another 6/7 days until Ov, started the opks today.

Violet, a woman after my own heart with the marathon dtd-ing! I did worry, though, that the quality of sperm may be reduced come days 5/6/7 tho... Maybe do a combination of that and smep, and have one day off somewhere in the shagfest??

congrats bfp ladies.

I'm a little confused as to where I am in cycle as had a massive 2 week bleed 2 weeks ago then I've started bleeding again yesterday (only light) ....so I'm confused at min.

we are just did when we fancy at the min ( which is more than usual for me lol.....relationship making up is always good lol)....and see what occurs.
we go on holiday in 3 weeks so focusing on that and then will turn into the ttc monster again once back...... x
