Hello - newbie here poking my head in. Trying to get up to speed with the lingo - I am in second month of ttc - currently on AF (? AF = your period right?). Am trying hard not to panic as am 39 - reading all the BFP ( big fat positive?) here is very cheering thou. Am trying hard to relax as keep thinking getting stressed and anxious about it will be the worst thing to so but just reminds me of being single and people telling me to stop looking and then I'd find The One. But lovely to feel less alone with all the nonsense going round my head so thank you.

patch77 · 10/11/2014 18:10

Hello

Still here, just been manic with work and stuff. Got my hsg scan tomorrow to see if there are any blocks in the Fallopian tubes. Dreading it. Don't want to go but at least we will then know. All being well with the bits 3 months of chlomid start next cycle (hopefully if consultant gets back to us in time). Another sleepless night tonight thinking about it no doubt. Will keep you posted

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 10/11/2014 18:34

Hi Katie.
I had a friend who concieved on the day after her period finished.
so I am quite sceptical about ovulation tests.

ranchgirl · 10/11/2014 18:46

Hi ladies, sorry, been so manic busy with work. Sorry to hear about AF **Stupid.

I've booked a GP appointment on Friday and had lovely chat with colleague today who has 2 boys from 2 IVF cycles.

I know it's still relatively early (tycoon cycle 11) but I'm 40 in less than s month and I don't want to find out about a problem any later. Been told to exaggerate ttc cycle so might add a few months on Hmm...

On day 7 of cycle today so having an early night to dtd. Finding it hard to be patient and just want to be blooming pregnant so much. Never been so ready to be a Mum.

Being on here helps a lot though so thank you xx

Gingerbreadlady1 · 10/11/2014 20:01

, still lurking on old birds & rooting for you all. Gonna linger till the old regulars get their bfp's...... ......

May I join??? I am 43 and have 3 dcs... dd is 20 , ds1 is 15 and ds2 is 13months. We decided to ttc again and got a bfp but had a mmc . They suspected on the 24th October and they confirmed last Thursday( privately). On Friday I was seen by nhs but their procedure is that I have to go back next week for another scan. I was 9+5 but the pg was only 6 without a growth from the 24th October.... so in limbo but please please let me join????

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 10/11/2014 20:47

Hi Not.
Welcome to the old bird's coop.
I have a 15 year old as well.
Sorry to hear about you mmc.

AnnieHoo · 10/11/2014 21:37

Yay! It's busy on here again Grin!

A very warm welcome to the coop Glacier and Nosoold there are lovely ladies on here and we all support each other. Smile

Yes, AF = Aunt Flo

Notsoold I'm so sorry about your mmc. It's a horrible shock, a few of us on here have been through it too sadly. I hope you are ok, there are also some great threads in the Body & Soul section that offer practical advice specifically on mc if you need it.

ranchgirl yes, i would exaggerate if I were you and be pushy about getting tests done. I feel the same, I'm 41, I feel the opportunity of ever becoming a mummy slipping away each month. I was v v gutted about it all last year and reached rock bottom emotionally. I seem to have come to terms with it now and feel so much better and happier. Lots of encouraging BFP's going on... We'll have our moment!

Hi Patch, hope the scan goes well tomorrow and you get the all clear to start Clomid.

Hello Ginger my old buddy, glad you're lurking. I hope we all make it over to the Old Birds Grads thread one day soon! Smile

notsoold · 11/11/2014 08:46

ilivein and annie thanks for the welcome Smile

ranchgirl hi there!!! Sorry to jump in but if you had the chance to convince them to give you some tests it would be good ....it is always good to know right??

Sitting here and waiting waiting waiting

KatieV130 · 11/11/2014 10:40

Hi all,

AnnieHoo thanks, that's nice of you, I'm also a fan of talking about it, it seems to take the power away from bad things if you talk about them. As you say makes you realise how many other people have had a MC and also then go on to have babies.

GlacierLight, that made me giggle, I totally know what you mean about "don't think about it and it'll happen"!! I know what they mean but it's pretty bloody hard to do!!

ranchgirl and *Patch& good luck with your appointments, fingers crossed.

Notsoold, really sorry to hear your news, that must have been really upsetting. Makes me quite scared about the next time, I'll be a total nervous wreck.

Anyway, must persuade my husband to dtd this week and weekend!! xx

AnnieHoo · 11/11/2014 11:46

Sorry you're still going through the limbo Notsold. How are you feeling? Do you have a date for your next scan?

GlacierLight · 12/11/2014 07:33

Thanks Annie - it feels lovely in here. And think it might help keep me sane. Nice to meet you Katie / definitely agree talking about sad things helps - so good to have a place to find other people in similar situations.

Hello everyone else....Smile

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 12/11/2014 13:00

Hi Glacier.
I've not met you on here yet. Welcome aboard.

GlacierLight · 13/11/2014 17:01

Hi Ghost - nice to meet you tooSmile

I feel like you do ranchgirl - this is only my 3rd cycle of trying and if it doesn't work am off to the GP to lie and say it's been a year as am 40 next year so don't have the luxury if time! Hope your GP is nice.

And that your apt went well patch

Am on day 6 so just a few more days waiting till fertile time. I peed on a stick the first month to check that the fertile prediction on the app I have was right and it was so trying not to do too much of that as I feel I could get quite obsessed with it all.

I read a quote the other day I liked about things may not be quite how we'd like but amazing things will happen. Smile. And then today I won a free smoothie in Tossed.

Hope all ok with everyone else.

Lolababy00 · 14/11/2014 14:58

Hi I'm 40 and would like to join, I had my fourth baby aged 39 and am now trying for number five ... ( my partners second) I had my previous children when I was just out of my teens which was quite hard work ... Really enjoying being an older parent , however found the night wakings a little harder to adapt too this time around ??

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 14/11/2014 17:25

Hi Lola. It's nice to welcome you.
Waves to everyone else.
Saw 3 magpies today which if you're superstitious means 3 for a girl.

Nomio230 · 14/11/2014 18:09

Hi,

I would love to join you all. I am 36 (37 in just over a week) & have been ttc our first for 3 years now. I have just started Clomid & have stocked up on Clearblue ovulation kits, so am really hoping for a good month.

Good luck everyone!

ranchgirl · 14/11/2014 18:19

Evening ladies. Had GP appointment this morning. She booked me in for blood tests so at least we've got the ball rolling. DH is reg at different GPs unfortunately so I need to get him to make an appointment for his sample deposit :-/
Feel better now I've got some hope of help if we need it.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 14/11/2014 19:24

Hi Nomio. Lovely to welcome you.
Y.Y To Ranch. Indeed get the ball rolling.
I've been ttc for over a year. I'm too scared to go the docs though in case something's wrong.

ranchgirl · 14/11/2014 19:59

I'm too impatient! I figured better I know now than find out when it's too late. (40 in 3 weeks and all that... :-/)

AnnieHoo · 14/11/2014 23:01

Hi all Smile!

Welcome Nomio I'm trying for my first too and I've been through 5 months of Clomid, it worked for me on month 3 (sadly mc) so I can tell you it does work!

Hello Lola welcome to the old chicks! Good to hear you're enjoying being an older mum, I'm a bit worried about not having the energy I used to have...

Ghost - haha I do that magpie thing too, it's a nightmare when you see one and can't move on until you've seen the other one! Get yourself to the GP surgery girl, don't be scared, it's good to have a little help and we are all here for hand holding. Smile

Ranchgirl so pleased you've seen GP and feel better for it, hope you get some answers or at least some progress.

I'm crying my eyes out watching Children in Need here so sad but amazing inspirational kids and families out there.

SweetiePrincess · 17/11/2014 00:01

Hi there,

I'm 36 and just started trying for our first. Got PCOS so not expecting it to be easy.
Nice to meet you all Smile

HexyQueen · 17/11/2014 17:05

Hi guys, just thought I'd pop in to see how up all are. Glad so many newbies have found this thread. It really does keep you sane while ttc. Everyone is lovely here. There are quite a few of us who had BFP in last 4 months (I'm 42 & 11 weeks today).

Chart your temp, plus I used Clearblue dual thingumie as cheepy POAS didn't work for me (told me ov'd well too late to do anything). DTD earlier than u think, only needs to be every other day as sperm can live for 5 whole days so better to be in u already if u r an early ovulator; I got upduffed on day 10.

Oh & add a good few months when first speaking to GP, they often don't even listen to you for first 6 months & we don't have that kind of time.
Fingers crossed & good luck.
Xxx

AnnieHoo · 17/11/2014 17:05

Welcome Sweetie! We are a nice bunch here - it's be very very quiet recently though! Smile

Nothing to report here, just trying to keep busy in the 2 week wait... it's dragging on.

patch77 · 17/11/2014 19:32

Had the scan, wasn't pleasant but got through it. The worse bit was the radioactive stuff being put in. Very strange cramping feeling. Hopefully get the results soon......
