bobsyboo I have here my referral letter from the Fertility Clinic (which will be firmly staying on my "current" pile until well after the 12 week scan- you know, just in case...) and it says:

"When should I be referred for investigation or treatment?

Couples have failed to conceive after 2 years with no known reproductive problems"

.... however it ALSO says that you should be referred earlier than 2 years If you are older than 34

Obviously, criteria differ, but I think you need to get back to your GP and start kicking ass. You may not be ovulating as often (it's simple to find out if you are or not), and your eggs may not be of as good quality (incredibly difficult to find out), but it's time for you to get to a fertility clinic and discuss your options. There's a LOT more they can do!

....by the way, your partner has had his test, has he?

Welcome probablyme and melinda!

probably, if you want a glass of wine, I'd go ahead and have one Smile. I did a lot of Googling looking for evidence about alcohol and TTC, and the best I could come up with was a Danish study that found that women who had "less than 5 drinks" a week had a 65% chance of conceiving within a year, and women who had more had a 50% chance. So, obviously it makes some difference. But, is that a huge amount of difference, all things considered? Thing is, TTC can be a long haul, and if you really like wine, are you going to be making yourself miserable for a whole year for not that much difference?

Obviously, it's good to cut down. I must admit I never managed to cut down to less than about 12 units a week myself though!

Had palpitations then, tried to post and got a thread closed message!!

Hi to the newbies, welcome xx

Cd27 here, will see what the couple of days brings. Starting to feel a big nervous. Feel a bit emotional today thinking about Christmas and how I would've been due in 21/12. Really really would love another bfp by the end if the year.

ProbablyMe · 12/10/2014 21:16

Awww Stubborn I think I could be convinced you twisted my arm I guess relaxing is a good thing, stress can't help can it!?! I do need to learn the difference between having one glass and a few however Grin

stubbornstains · 12/10/2014 21:22

Oh gosh tranquility, the last couple of days is always the hardest, isn't it? Fingers crossed...x

Tranquilitybaby · 12/10/2014 22:09

Thanks stubborn I so hope this is our month, third time lucky x

HexyQueen · 12/10/2014 23:07

Fingers crossed for this month, Tranquility. It's so hard after a m/c, dates are always in our mind. I discovered this BFP the week my lost baby would have been 2 years old... Big hugs to you.

Hi newbies (waves hello).

Tranquilitybaby · 12/10/2014 23:13

Thanks Hexy. The December due date is from the ectopic I had in April. Lost my tube too, so doubly distressing x I hope you're feeling ok x

BobsyBoo · 12/10/2014 23:23

Stubbornstains Congratulations! Thanks for all the info I didn't know any of that, my GP just made me feel like what do I expect at my age. It does seem like I'm being fobbed off then. My GP hasn't even suggested testing my OH but having said that he probably won't have a test anyway he thinks because we have one child there can't possibly be anything wrong with him.

Hi Melinda I'm 38 too been trying since January last year.

Tranquility Good luck

stubbornstains · 13/10/2014 12:47

(fighting the urge to track bobsy's GP down and bite him)

Yep, the 3 standard tests you have to do before being referred to the fertility clinic are: blood tests, internal ultrasound AND A MALE SEMEN ANALYSIS (gets into a feminist froth). Seeing as 55% of infertility is male factor (it sez on this leaflet here)......

Perhaps suggest to your OH that spuffing once into a little pot isn't the most taxing thing in the world compared to, you know, internal investigations, monthly symptom spotting, the let down of AF arriving every month, being on fertility drugs with possibly nasty side effects, possible investigatory ops under anaesthetic, the blizzard of drugs and procedures that IVF involves, morning sickness, feeling like a fucking beach ball for about 5 months, weeing yourself, having piles and indigestion, and having to go through childbirth. Oh, and breastfeeding. Grin.

stubbornstains · 13/10/2014 13:38

(I don't know that anyone insists on a female semen analysis....Blush)

Gingerbreadlady1 · 13/10/2014 16:28

Lol! stubborn you're in excellent form today. Had a scan today, there IS a baby in there. It DOES have a healthy heartbeat and it dates at 8+2. Phew, hi to all the new old birds, another recently up-duffed old bird here.

WAAAAAHHHH ginger! That is fantastic news! xx

Tranquilitybaby · 13/10/2014 18:02

Aww so pleased Gingerbread, we need photo evidence please!! :) so nice to read some good news.

No AF so far for me but it would be due today (I presume anyway, early mc was 28 days ago).

BobsyBoo · 13/10/2014 19:21

Ha ha stubborn thank you!

Well I've had the blood tests and the ultrasound but there's never been a mention of OH getting tests, I feel like I've been written of because of my age! The other problem I have is OH has a low sex drive so we could do DTD more we usually manage twice when I have a +opk so you would think I would have conceived by now. Unfortunately we only managed once this cycle at ovulation as he's had Man Flu!

Great stuff Ginger Smile

AnnieHoo · 13/10/2014 19:32

WOo HOOOO Ginger!!!!!!!! Fantastic news!!! What a relief for you ( and us! ) You can get excited now Grin xxxx

Hi to newbies!

I like that this thread is a little mix of old chicks who are preggers, not preggers and everything in between Smile.

Good news from me today is that two of my little embryos made it to day 6 blastocyst, one wasn't good enough quality but the other one has been frozenSmile.

stubbornstains · 13/10/2014 19:42

Ooh, I'm glad you found the new thread annie- I was hoping you were just lying low and Not Thinking About....you know, rather than lost.....Smile

That's good news re: the frozen blastocyst- so now you have a spare heir! (sorry Blush)

AnnieHoo · 13/10/2014 19:58

yes i found you - and i like the thread name!

Im trying to be good like you and inshock and leave it as long as possible to test to see if my period comes first. I'm due to test a week on Monday.

I'm away tomorrow morning with my choir for 4 days so that's good for happiness and forgetting about it all Smile.

HexyQueen · 13/10/2014 21:15

Great news Ginger and Annie!!!!!!!!!

You have really been through it, Tranquility Big hugs x

If you are not getting to DTD that often Bobsy, deffo get hold of some of those Clearblue Dual Hormone kits as you can make sure you try early on flashing days and then a day or 2 later on peak day too. I've got all sorts of health issues so can't spend a whole week each month shagging like a rabbit so had to make sure DTD was timed well...

For all you ladies desperately waiting to get pregnant, here's some comforting anecdotal stats: I'm 42 and in the last 3 years, 9 of my class mates from school have had babies; 6 of my college/uni friends have also recently had babies in their late 30s and early 40s. These are only the ones I know about, there may well be more. It is happening more and more nowadays xxx

BobsyBoo · 13/10/2014 22:12

HexyQueen I tried the ones with dual hormone indicator but had 6 days of flashing faces before reaching my peak, so days wasted getting OH in the mood when it was too early. I've gone back to using the ordinary CB one, I use a Fertilty App too & take my temperature every morning.

Thanks for the stats comforting to know.

xx

HexyQueen · 13/10/2014 22:47

Bobsy I got that too one month, but got a new one and had no probs with it other months. Seems if it's not kept completely flat at all times, wee can get into the gubbins & it gets a bit iffy. Good luck xxx

Gingerbreadlady1 · 13/10/2014 23:14

Thanks ladiesSmile, annie I've been holding my breath waiting for you to come back & update us. Delighted for you, brilliant news.

tranq, keeping fx

For newbies I also used soft cups after sex in last 3 months & fell pg twice, coincidence or not?.?.?.....

Presenting...... gingerbaby

BobsyBoo · 13/10/2014 23:19

Thanks for the info HexyQueen maybe I'll try that one again. Mine was kept in bathroom cabinet in an upright position. Thank you, just been reading more of the thread & read your post about it taking you 5 months to get pregnant & congrats too, I've not managed to read all the thread before. Good advice to read about DTD before predicted ov. xxx

Tranquilitybaby · 13/10/2014 23:38

ginger feel all teary here, such a cute scan pic. X

annie that's wonderful news, fingers crossed for you x

Fx bobsY , could you take a visit to love honey or something to purchase a few things to have some fun with a bit more regularly. Not think of it as dtd, more just having fun together.

hexy, thanks, it's not been my favourite year so far no.

Loving your stats though! Smile

Will wait a few more days and if you know who doesn't arrive, I'll chance POAS. none in the house to tempt me at the moment.

Tranquilitybaby · 14/10/2014 07:40

Oh and by the way peeps, First Response tests are on BOGOF at Superdrug!

BobsyBoo · 14/10/2014 08:59

Tranquility would be a good idea but OH is just not in to anything like that, I think he'd be happy not to have sex again. I tried to do us a nice romantic meal with candles last week but that didnt work out, he was too ill for the mean & to DTD.
