bobsyboo I have here my referral letter from the Fertility Clinic (which will be firmly staying on my "current" pile until well after the 12 week scan- you know, just in case...) and it says:
"When should I be referred for investigation or treatment?
Couples have failed to conceive after 2 years with no known reproductive problems"
.... however it ALSO says that you should be referred earlier than 2 years If you are older than 34
Obviously, criteria differ, but I think you need to get back to your GP and start kicking ass. You may not be ovulating as often (it's simple to find out if you are or not), and your eggs may not be of as good quality (incredibly difficult to find out), but it's time for you to get to a fertility clinic and discuss your options. There's a LOT more they can do!
....by the way, your partner has had his test, has he?
Welcome probablyme and melinda!
probably, if you want a glass of wine, I'd go ahead and have one
. I did a lot of Googling looking for evidence about alcohol and TTC, and the best I could come up with was a Danish study that found that women who had "less than 5 drinks" a week had a 65% chance of conceiving within a year, and women who had more had a 50% chance. So, obviously it makes some difference. But, is that a huge amount of difference, all things considered? Thing is, TTC can be a long haul, and if you really like wine, are you going to be making yourself miserable for a whole year for not that much difference?
Obviously, it's good to cut down. I must admit I never managed to cut down to less than about 12 units a week myself though!
