The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

I do I do! I'm bricking it. I can't bare to see another negative. It's so flipping faint :(

GailLondon · 13/08/2014 15:30

Hi all,

I'm a previous thread member, de-lurking to say first of all : marmalade, that's a line! Looks just like the first positive I got at 9/10 dpo.

And secondly to say thankyou to everyone on this thread for getting me through the worst 3 months of my adult life. I still think of you all and wish you all the best on your journeys. I'm now 16 weeks with a healthy happy bean, kicking away merrily.

Also, I have a 2 pack of FRER's left over and dont really want to bin them, if anyone could make any use of them at all I'd love to send them to you, would love it if someone got their BFP on one! I think they are a lucky batch! PM me if interested.

Marmaladecat1 · 13/08/2014 16:02

Gail me me me please please please!
Wow do you really think it's a line?
Oh my word!
So lovely to hear a happy post, everyone here has been utterly amazing when people in RL were shit.

Marmaladecat1 · 13/08/2014 16:14

So I worked out I could be about 11-13 dpo...kind of stopped tracking as this has been such a long cycle

broodylicious · 13/08/2014 17:16

Aaaaah the baby announcement bomb. Face to face. Double shit. In front of three of us who've recently mc.... Can't imagine it was easy for her but ouch, it hurts Hmm

Alwayswaiting · 13/08/2014 17:39

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining.... Had my 2nd mc late July. I thought I was okay about it, but I'm a bit down today. Really want to get back on it and try again. I am trying to say positive, and think of it all as my body doing a reset before I can get pregnant with one that sticks, it's difficult today though. Sorry - I shouldn't moan.

Anyhow, great to read some positives in this thread. And also so sorry to everyone else that's gone through this....

EnglishGirlsReturned · 13/08/2014 17:56

Gail - lovely to see that things are going well for you. Do keep popping back and keep us updated Smile

Marmalade - I can see Something... You def need to get something a bit more reliable to piss on!

broody - the baby bomb is always hard. Sending you big hugs xx

Welcome Alwayswaiting, sorry for your loss. I hope you find some support from us. We've all be where you are and have felt how you feel. The bad days do come and go, but time is a great healer. I know it's cliche but its true.

BlinkAndMiss · 13/08/2014 20:13

Hey congratulations smiliing and marmalade! Brilliant news!

I feel like I'm going poas crazy - actually I am going poas crazy! my DH thinks I've lost the plot. Well after another flashing smiley today I thought I'd get more sticks and test in the afternoon too! I tested but it was negative, but I feel cramps and twinges like I usually get before what I assume is ovulation so I feel like it's very close. I'm cycle day 13 so hopefully it'll be tomorrow. As I posted before, the only times I've got a positive smiley in the last is in the pm and the clearblue dual hormone test is an am test.

Can anyone shed some light on how they work though? Does the monitor use your first test as a marker for all the others? I read that whatever your hormone level it would always test as negative on the first test. If that's the case then wouldn't the afternoon test I did today be useless because even if it was a surge it wouldn't recognise it? If the monitor holds the information then surely I'd be better off with the cheaper dye sticks because if I think I'm ovulating late I can check, with the clearblue ones I can't because it would always be negative if it was a one off test? Last month I did a cheap dye test as a one off, it was positive so we DTD and conceived. It was far later than I thought it would be, about CD 20 or something. It's the dual hormone test and the OPK for the 2 most fertile days that I'm using, both by Clearblue. Sorry for the questions, I'm new at this! I'm going to keep going with the dual hormone test on a morning, I'm just paranoid about missing the surge.

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 13/08/2014 20:26

Ooh marm crack out a frer!!

Welcome always you've joined a fantastically supportive group of lady.

I'm sorry broody that's must have been hard.

Blink - they do use your first stick as a reference. So I alway use ic's alongside in the afternoon.
I think ic's work fine of your cycles are pretty regular, but if your cycles are bit erratic it can be hard to judge when to start using them.

Sunbathing - I wouldn't say yours are too bad. The long one after the mc is pretty normal post mc, your last cycle seems much more like your pre mc cycle. I temp so I know that there have been cycles that I haven't ov'd, plus I ov late. I'm going to take a lower dose and take cd2-6. I think

BlinkAndMiss · 13/08/2014 21:38

Thanks English, I think I'll get some ICs for next month and use them alongside the monitor. My cycles used to regular until about 3 months ago, along with this wtf cycle it all seems very mixed up. My signs are all mixed up too, ewcm one minute, then gone - it's the same with all the other symptoms too. I need to convince my brain that this cycle is a monitoring cycle, not a ttc cycle (if that happens then amazing but I'm not setting myself up for disappointment!).

Oh broody I'm sorry about the baby bomb hitting! it's awful I'm there now too. I'm just avoiding as it's the only way I can think of to cope with my emotions. It's too soon. Just be kind to yourself and do what you need to do to make the sadness disappear for a bit.

Mslad · 13/08/2014 21:58

Broody its awful isn't it? I think that's one of the worst things about having a mc, I don't want to be somebody who's not happy for other pregnant women. I really hope these emotions pass soon.

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 14/08/2014 07:28

marm have you poas again? Keeping everything tightly crossed for you.

blink this is my first month using the dual hormone opk and I wasn't sure why they are the only opk that asks for FMU whereas all the others advice you to test in the afternoon? I'm still no clearer but they did give me 3 days if flashing and 2 days of solid smilies (well the solid smiley stays on the screen for 48hrs) so seemed to work. Although it did put me at ovulating on cd11/12 which is 2 days earlier than I'm used to. Who knows! sebs is pretty clued up on opk's so she should be able to help.

Drum roll please ... I didn't poas AGAIN this morning! With some supervision from DH calling through the bathroom door to check I wasn't. This is a record for me. Feeling pretty good though and not poas so early definitely helps to keep your mind off the whole ttc. I'd highly recommend it!

Tying not to overthink but I've been pretty gassy (sorry, tmi) which is a usual pre AF symptom for me so I have a feeling the witch will be paying me a visit at the weekend.

Before my MC I had. 13 day lp, and I wonder if u should go back to that?

EnglishGirlsReturned · 14/08/2014 07:43

day 4 of flashing smilies..... Hmm

Welldone Oneday!!! Good work.... When will you poas??

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 14/08/2014 07:48

Day 4 English?! Goodness, is it the first time you've used the dual hormone opk? Just keep DTD eod so you're covered!

Thanks Grin I genuinely am really proud of myself! Well if I've gone back to before with my 13 lp then AF will be here on Saturday (I'm 12dpo today) or if I'm now 'normal' with a 14 day lp then it'll be Sunday. So I'm not sure is the answer! I'm expecting AF but so scared of a negative and I don't want to ruin the ignorant bliss that I'm in at the moment ...

Treaclepie19 · 14/08/2014 07:49

Well done oneday, i second that question though... when will you POAS??? :P

Hope you get your peak soon English x

Off for my blood test today, I really hate them but I have to say I'm more used to them after pregnancy and mc. It's a fasting one though so no doubt I'll feel wobbly after :(
On the plus side I've lost 3 lb so far this week :D i was hoping it would come off this quickly since I went on so fast.

sebsmummy1 · 14/08/2014 08:21

Good luck this morning Marm, and good luck Oneday Grin. I decided this cycle to POAS every morning to give myself something to do and take the pressure off of it. Kind of helps that I have no idea what dpo I am or even if I ovulated at all. I have tried not testing at all, testing from 9dpo and now just testing every day lol. For me the most stressful is not testing as I get my hopes up and am then really upset when AF appears.

What's the opk question? I'm not sure if I can answer it but I will try.

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 14/08/2014 08:55

So I'm thinking I'll POAS on Saturday morning. We're going in to London for the day for a food festival so at least I'll be able to comfort myself with some fizzy wine and smelly cheese if it's another BFN.

Are the bloods for diabetes testing treacle good luck. Are you getting any further with your GP with help for the T? And well done on the 3lbs!

sebs this was blinks question:
Can anyone shed some light on how they work though? Does the monitor use your first test as a marker for all the others? I read that whatever your hormone level it would always test as negative on the first test. If that's the case then wouldn't the afternoon test I did today be useless because even if it was a surge it wouldn't recognise it? Anyone else POAS sometime soon??

sebsmummy1 · 14/08/2014 09:41

I've just had a read of the PDF file uk.clearblue.com/sites/default/files/HCP_Publications/Brochures/hcp_aot_professional_brochure.pdf and it does seem to read both oestrogen and LH. You get the flashing smiley once oestrogen rises and it will turn into a static smiley once it detects LH.

If you are getting constant flashing smileys it does sound as though it's missed your surge, much like my cbfm did for me this cycle. It doesn't mean you haven't ovulated, it may just mean you have a short surge. Of course it might also mean you haven't ovulated yet. This stuff is noit an exact science unfortunately.
