sorry about bfn metal :( but at least now you can enjoy your wine!

my dh had an appointment with a urologist today (referred by my gynae consultant) and she said there were no blockages or anything, and 'no reason he couldn't father a child'. on last SA results the morph wasn't too good (2%) so I was surprised, but apparently as he produces a lot of ... liquid Blush... that makes up for the lower percentage? some positive news finally Wine

You'll never f-ing believe the latest! Dh had a letter from the clinic today saying there had been a 'lab error' with his first sa back in April. The report should have read ZERO instead of 100% for antisperm antibodies! WTF!!! I really don't know how to feel right now, I feel physically sick! Knowing that we are not 100% infertile and no point trying. We are officially UNEXPLAINED! 4 months of thinking we knew the score and accepting our fate as icsi candidates. The depression I've been under, that dh has been under, thinking he's a useless piece of crap when there was nothing drastically wrong! What the hell happens now!? We've told our bosses and parents we need ivf! How am I supposed to keep my cool on Tuesday at our appointment!? Will they tell us to Bugger off until the 2 year mark now after all this hell?! I really do feel like I could throw up right now!

I am so shocked Victoria at what you've just posted so I can't begin to imagine what you're both going through! It really is unbelievable and they gave no idea the emotional impact these "errors" can have on people's' lives when they're ttc.

I would demand a full written apology, an investigation into the lab error and preferential treatment in the fertility department or else you will seek legal advice for the trauma you have both received.

Mam31 - Good luck for your HSG next week. I look forward to hearing how you get on. Sounds like we're at similar stages in the process.

omfg Vic. I would demand retests too! and I would definitely be seeing a solicitor before Tuesdays appointment. and if they dare hint at making you wait tell them no f'ing way. get your hsg if you haven't had it yet (I only remember you mentioning us) and get a new sa for dh. my go told me if test were fine we'd have to wait til 2year mark but my clinics website says to go to go for referral after a year so check your clinics website! I am both amazed and appalled for you. after all the issues you've had you really should consider suing.

Just dropped in to see how you're all doing. Haven't read back all the way but just saw vic's post. I simply cannot believe it! It is good news but HORRENDOUS what you have both been through. You need to make your feelings known. I'd maybe prepare by writing things down as they may blind you with science and 'good news' at your appt and you won't get to say what you want to say as they'll tie you up in knots.

Also - and I know this is no reassurance to you now - but you and your DH have been through something awful and were solid. Good for you.

I'm so sorry you've been through this; so sorry. Good luck on tues x

Hello ladies, been away for a couple of months as needed head sorting out. When I left Vic had just had news and OMG!!! What utter bastards!!!! Give them hell on Tues honey, you guys have been there and back thanks to their cock up.

We are still bloody no where. Got told by gp we have to wait over 2 years for referral and he had absolutely zero sympathy as took him and his wife 18months to conceive their first.

Anyway, I started seeing a therapist last week who is trying reflexology and massages on me to try and bring my body back into balance. No idea if it will work but quite happy to have a massage once a week :-)

Not got time to catch up with all posts - but please tell me someone has got a BFP while I've been away??? Hope to catch up with you all soon x

OMFG Vic I can't get over the incompetence. I'm very pleased for you but so so sorry you've had such appalling treatment along the way. I agree with Lil that you should write all your events down, along with feelings so that you can say it all at the appointment. Hopefully that'll make you feel like you've dealt with it. I doubt you would get far by instructing a lawyer, but an apology and prioritised treatment could be demanded to make up for it. The department need to be aware how it's affected you both. On the plus side I hope it's made your DH want to dtd like rabbits lol...

Little bit of good news for me - af has arrived! This is great because a) it's exactly 3 weeks since the last and not 7 months in between and b) I was dreading having to take the notheristone to kick-start a bleed and now I don't have to. I've done really well on my diet and lost 2lbs in 2 weeks and I think it's really helping with the cycles! I spoke to a friend of a friend yesterday who has PCOS and spent £250 on a private consultation and says it's the best cash she's ever spent - she's now been referred back to the NHS clinic, seeing the same consultant as who she'd paid privately, and has been popped to the top of the waiting list and she feels like they're now taking her more seriously than before after throwing a bit of money at it. I'm ringing tomorrow to book in. I'll still stick to the diet but want to start scans/HSG etc asap to be ready to get clomid. I don't know if that's an option for any of you, but thought I'd say as £250 I don't think is much to spend to get seen more quickly!

vic I just don't know what to say, you've been treated so badly by the NHS it really beggars belief! At least it was good news about your DH's sperm, try and hold on to that thought.

I've just come back from my GP and he's agreed to run some initial blood tests as we've been ttc for six months now since my mmc. Even though I'm pretty sure the tests will all be fine and show that I'm ovulating, I'm feeling quite relieved that I got the ball rolling with the investigations. (And it means we won't have to fork out nearly £700 for a private fertility assessment!). So, back on Friday for day 3/4 test (although it'll actually be day 5, but that was the only appointment left this week!) and then I'll have to figure out when my day 21 test should be once I've got a +opk.

Morning ladies. I have been taking a break. Cycle 18 about to come to an end. Can't quite believe it. I pretty much gave up on it a few cycles back, no poas no counting days. No hassling DH to dtd. Eventually got a gp appointment after months of trying and going for blood tests today. SA next week. Have been drinking FAR too much, not taking FA. Ugh. On a positive note have lost a stone. I now have more of a healthy plan and am gearing back up to a bit of obsession......i can feel it coming!

MB1985 · 02/09/2014 10:12

Oh notta you sound the same as me!! Drinking loads, no fa, no poas, but managed to lose just over a stone this summer so a plus side to everything and all that!! Good luck with bloods and sa next week. I really don't want to end up feeling like I did a few months ago...in a much better place now thanks to not obsessing all the time I think.

Sorry for being me me me, I'll read back soon I promise... So appointment this afternoon...Just as expected.... Sending me for a hsg. The nurse actually suggested having a lap as she thinks I might have endometriosis. There are things they can see in the lap that they can'tsee in hsg and can 'zap' any endo they see. However, I opted for hsg first which will happen next cycle. She also gave me a dildo cam and saw one massive follicle on my left ovary fit to burst any day. Does the lube they put on the dildo can kill sperm do you know?!

Oh talking of sperm. We've gone from thinking dh having duff sperm to him actually having impressive sperm. Nurse said the motility had INCREASED 24 hours later in the dish/tube wherever they keep them. His morphology has increased from 2% to 5% too! Must be something to do with the vits.

So now, its me that probably duff :-(

Someone was saying about antibiotics for the hsg? I've been given some to take on the day, just one dose.

Hi ladies I have been lurking for a few days and wanted to share my story of NHS incompetence after Vicky's awful stories! Finally dragged DP kicking and screaming to the docs for his SA, he dropped his sample off and phoned for the results and they said we had the wrong form and the wrong pot so have to do it again! How can the pot be wrong?! Is it a spermicidal pot?

Rant over.

Reading all your posts has been super helpful so thanks all xxx

Hi ladies. Just an update from my hystero- something (similar to hsg) that I had yesterday for those of you who are about to get yours.

I arrived at the hospital in a bit of an emotional state (this is very unlike me, but think the thought of the procedure alongside the lengthy ttc process took its toll on me).

The hosp staff were amazing and could see that I was petrified, they were so sensitive and kind. DH was not allowed in the room at the time of the xray but I know others on here said they were allowed in. So he waited nervously outside with one of the 3 nurses going out a few times to reassure him which was lovely.

So it was a consultant and 2 nurses, they did like a clean, put a catheter (not sure of spelling) in, and explained everything to me and when I might feel a pinch or some pain. They very slowly inserted the dye which was about 2 mins even if that of niggly Sharpe pains across my stomach (bizarre feeling). But it was over in 15 mins and I could get dressed.

No mention of antibiotics, but I did take strong pain killers one hour prior to the procedure.

When I stood up to get changed out of the gown, I was a bit shocked as I got light headed and started to bleed quite a bit. But the nurse said this was not uncommon and that sometimes gravity hits when you stand up causing a lot of blood initially. Also I have a tilted womb so there was a bit more maneuvering with the instruments to find my cervix, so that may have caused a bit more bleeding.

The bleeding was heavy for an hour then tailed off to spotting and still spotting today. Also took painkillers throughout yesterday as had some cramping. But back to work today feeling ok.

Most importanlty- I have no blockages, everything appeared normal and I was told to crack on with ttc asap!!!! Which I did this morning!!

All in all, it was a very short moment of pain and discomfort to get a good result. I am also fearful of hospitals so I probably found it to be worse than it actually is!!

Hope this helps and does not make anyone
