My acupuncturist recommend Zita West Vitaman and fish oil (vita dha I think). Been taking them for a couple of months. Can't say how effective they are, but i have seen posts on mumsnet saying they helped. they are expensive

m33r · 14/06/2014 09:40

blue DH and I on sanatogen pre conception and have been for a month (we've not been 'trying' owing to lap). No idea if they're good; they were the ones on 3 for 2 when I went into boots. Not cheap.

I have my reflexology appt today... Cd 2 so I'll have a whole cycle worth. Will let you all know.

lil1ady · 14/06/2014 15:04

blue eyes fertilaid contain more than any of the normal ones in boots etc. I ordered them online. dh has been taking them for about 4months with no bfp, but he is pretty rubbish at remembering to take them. plus they help count and motility, there's bugger all to be done for morphology it seems, and that's his biggest issue.

silverine · 14/06/2014 16:26

Hi ladies, can I join?

Been on the ttc after mc and the buses (high blueberry and mama) threads but I need to admit to myself now how long it's been.
I'm 31 now, DH and I first started ttc in May 2012, got bfp end August 2012, found out at 12 week scan in Oct 2012 development had stopped at 10 weeks.

We were very upset of course but thought it was a one-off so determined to get straight back into ttc. Got bfp#2 in early Jan 2013, very apprehensive of course. Was given early scan at 10 weeks but again it showed growth was 2 weeks behind.

So after 2 MCs, we decided to take a break and do some investigations. The GP did the basic blood tests but of course would not refer us to specialists until after 3 MCs… so we paid for some tests abroad: thrombophilia, vit D, antibodies, thyroid, sperm screening for DH… all came back negative except vit D but were prescribed some just-in-case things like baby aspirin, high-dose folic acid, vits, etc.

So we’ve been ttc again since July 2013, nothing until a BFP in march 2014, only to be followed by a bfn 2 days later… The GP wouldn’t even count it as early MC, only CP, which was upsetting, as we still wouldn’t get a referral!

We’ve been even more determined since then though and put all into it – I started acupuncture in March (before the EMC), temping, mucus watching, dtd timing, even cough syrup – and still nothing! So after last month’s bfn I went to the GP to ask for a fertility clinic referral, as we’ve been ttc for more than a year, even if you count since MC2. Waiting for the appointment letter now. Really hope this is out month and we get a bfp obviously but good to know we have this as fall-back.

Sorry all for the essay! Sorry for not name-checking, need to read back to get to know you. x

xBlueberry88x · 14/06/2014 17:27

Hi silverine sorry you have to join us but were all lovely in here

victoria401 · 14/06/2014 18:30

Hi silverine, welcome to the group. Seen you in the buses but I left after a crap diagnosis of male factor infertility! Sorry to hear all the rubbish you've been through over the last 2 years, I can't imagine how you feel. I hope you get some answers from the docs soon. We all know how bad GP's are at getting stuff done in this group!

Blueberry, yes I'm ok thanks. Just lurking around with not a lot to say really!

Can't remember where everyone is at the moment, I think I need to write a brief list as my memory is completely terrible! Nothing personal.

silverine · 14/06/2014 20:16

Hi vic yes, I remember. How is it going? Have you had a consultation yet?

Yes, it sucks indeed... After the CP I was feeling very low for quite a while. When we decided to get back into it, we were determined to do everything right, including the acupuncture, etc. I was feeling pretty positive about our chances the last couple of months so was really disappointed when it wasn't happening. Especially given that before our problem was not getting pg but making it stick. So now I'm convinced there must be something wrong...

I hope the appointment won't be far off. The GP said that sometimes rather go through all the invasive (and expensive) tests, they just go in for assisted conception. Anyone been to the fertility clinic in St Bart's in London?

Right, I'm going to read back now. Shall I start from the beginning or around p5 enough?

m33r · 15/06/2014 00:11

Hi silver. Welcome aboard! Your journey sounds awful. Can't imagine you must feel. I've been ttc since dec 2012 and not had as much as an evap line but think that's easier than what you've been through. Hope we can offer some support on here.

Hey vic! Nice to see you.

just a quick drop on before I go to sleep. hi silv I just wanted to say I know someone who kept mc at 10/11/12 weeks and turned out to be folic acid deficiency. she was put on high doses for a while and eventually got pg again and now has a little boy. might be something for you to look into Thanks

xBlueberry88x · 15/06/2014 10:18

Ladies my af could come the day before my gynae appointment if it does do I need to cancel.

My 2nd day is usually heaviest how annoying if I do need to itll be more waiting.

victoria401 · 15/06/2014 13:42

You've been waiting so long already blueberry, I'd go luv. One of the other girls on here had an appointment on her period and it was ok.

Hi m33r! I agree with you, it must be harder to have lost after the initial hope and excitement. But we do have our form of grief too.

silverine · 15/06/2014 13:58

So I've been reading all night last night and still only to p. 4! Sounds like most of you are at some stage of the testing and referral process. Where is everyone at exactly now? Anyone London-based?

lil1ady · 15/06/2014 18:38

I'm in the south west so a fair way from London. had all our tests here and just waiting for appt to see consultant.

xBlueberry88x · 15/06/2014 18:42

Ive got my first gynae app on Thursday ive had blood tests that said im not ovulating.

Dps sa was fine.

Im in the south.

victoria401 · 15/06/2014 20:02

silv I've had my bloods which show I ovulate. Dh has got 2% morphology (suboptimal) and 100% antisperm antibodies. This is caused by a previous infection of injury where the body starts to produce antibodies against the sperm. The abs either attach to the tail so they can't swim or to the head where they can't penetrate the egg. Basically 0% chance of natural conception. A huge blow. We are on the waiting list to see fertility specialist too see if we are suitable for ivf.

I'm also in the south west.

m33r · 15/06/2014 20:17

I've had my bloods and a laparoscopy and DH has had two sa. All fine on all counts. Ttc #1 21 months

stepmama84 · 15/06/2014 20:22

Welcome Silv, I'm quite new on here. I can only imagine what you have been through how heart wrenching and frustrating that the doctors aren't being helpful or understanding.
I myself don't fit the criteria for my area and have gone private.
I'm an hour away from London.

stepmama84 · 15/06/2014 20:27

Oh and been ttc since Dec 2012. Had tests done all clear. Tried to have a hycosy but passed out from pain/ nerve being hit. So had to stop. Decided not to have test and save cash, especially as they can't fix blocked tubes and we don't want artificial insemination. We're saying it's unexplained infertility. Starting first cycle of ivf next month Grin

lil1ady · 15/06/2014 22:36

stepmama this sounds soooo wrong, but I am so jealous that you are starting your ivf next month! I'm fed up of waiting!

stepmama84 · 16/06/2014 08:46

Lil it doesn't sound wrong. I know you're all having to go through the Gp and your situations are upsetting. As soon as I hit the road block with mine I spoke with dh and we decided we would find the money somewhere somehow, taking out a personal loan if need be.
I think he realised it had gotten to the point where we had to do something. It was completely consuming me and I'm sure I wasn't as good at hiding it from him as I think.
Not sure how many rounds we can actually afford but fx for the first round, or better yet a bfp 'au naturelle' before we even start next month! (I should be so lucky)

lildottie · 16/06/2014 17:47

you never know stepmama you wouldn't be the first!

lildottie · 16/06/2014 20:42

oh BTW I nc....its still the same lil here :)

silverine · 16/06/2014 21:48

Hi all
Thanks everyone for the updates! So it seems like that usual route is blood and sperm tests before referral and clinic appointment, then more tests such as hycosy, laparoscopy or hpt. Well let's hope we all have not too long to go before those appointments and next steps!

stepmama sorry to hear about what happened at the appointment - frighttening! Confused Good luck down the private route! Costly but hopefully much more professional and efficient!
vic sorry about the diagnosis. Really rubbish! Have you got a date for your appt yet? Surely there must be a way - at least there is sperm donor as a last resort...
lil takes for the tip! I'm actually on high-dose folic acid as a can't hurt measure.

We've had a strange couple of days. On Sat received the GP's letter that he has referred us to the fertility clinic, but also for me to repeat some blood tests (by the way, I owe it to this thread that I knew which days the tests should be on, the GP had put no specific date! Shock) and for DH to arrange for a sperm test, even though he's had it done (albeit in 2012). So yesterday I had to break it to him that he needs another one, presuming it was because the other one was too old. He got understandably agitated ("oh but I'm all fine, sod them", etc.) cue me turning the taps on... (don't you want this too", etc...)

So then I tried to reason with him, well it's only a back-up plan, just in case and so on, and then he went back to "oh but it's just taking a little longer and it will happen". So in the end we got back to the default position of "we'll keep trying and hope we don't need it but good to have as back-up". Dtd last night and had him rub my belly for luck on father's day!

Just as we got back to normal, we had the GP appointment to ask about arranging the sperm test and it turned out the gp had forgotten DH had done it and didn't need to repeat it after all! I thought DH would be pleased but he's very grumpy tonight as he didn't have his post-early shift nap because of the wasted appointment... ahh, men hey! so sensitive when it comes to tests... Hope he'll be back to normal tomorrow, but the ttc business really is draining, isnt it?!

Anyway, this cycle has been a bit confusing, with temp indicating 2 peaks so not sure exactly when I ov but had my acupuncture today and the acupuncturist said my temp chart was looking good. Been dtd lots this cycle too - EOD since CD6 and every day this weekend, so dare to hope I'm in with a good chance! FX FX FX and sorry for the essay!
