Hi silv

Dh has already said absolutely no to a sperm donor and I don't blame him. I don't like the idea either. We only want a mix of the 2 of us not a random stranger. Eww the thought of someone else's sperm up there, shudder.

No idea how long it will take to get a referral. I wish they'd send a letter immediately even if it was months away rather than wait ages and get the letter the week before or something! I know things like that do happen as my mum was waiting for an appointment and whilst they were on hol for 2 weeks the letter and the appointment came and went and she missed it! If they gave me a date now I could stick it in my diary and count down to it instead of, yet again, not planning the future.

Spoke to my mum yesterday and she asked about ivf. She said is it really worth going through all that? Do you really want a baby that much? How can my mum possibly understand? She wanted babies, she made them. Me month 1, sister month 3. She can't begin to imagine. I need to ask her if she can imagine her life without her kids and her grandchildren my sister has given to her.

Sorry to go on. Needed to say that!

lildottie · 16/06/2014 22:36

vic that's an awful thing for her to say, but try and think about how she meant it rather than how it sounded. she's probably worried about what ivf means you having to go through. for the same reason she wouldn't want to dream of not having you, she doesn't want to see you hurting.

I don't blame you on the donor thing. not sure where we would stand in that but hoping we don't have to. the alternative (for us at least) is adoption, and I think I'd rather our child was part of at least one of us. hopefully we won't have to think about either, and hopefully neither will you!

also agree on the appointments. I wish I couldve just booked it in when they'd finished hsg so I would know when it was! problem is these dr's are a law unto themselves!

silv sounds like you've had about as much fun with gps as we all have! don't be surprised if clinic want a new sa when you get referred though!

I've had a really down day. feeling fed up and like my life has no purpose without the prospect of having a baby. I know there isn't no prospect but I feel so despondent about it ATM. it doesn't help that I'm constantly having to deal with selfish idiots ATM too. wish they'd all just disappear off the planet!

lildottie · 17/06/2014 23:30

oh and I vote to nominate Luna as roll call master!

silverine · 18/06/2014 00:18

lil that's what the gp said too, that they'll most probably repeat it and test for a whole lot of other things too. Bet it will be aaages till the appointment though.
5dpo wed. Really hopeful for this cycle actually. We've been dtd much more, eod at least and kept it up for longer, combined with the acupuncture etc. Really hoping and praying! Blush

silverine · 18/06/2014 00:20

Also lil sorry you had a down day.... hope you're feeling better now Thanks]

lildottie · 18/06/2014 07:34

not sure how my last post ended up in this thread Hmm

thanks silv am doing OK, just trying to keep busy! easier said than done though. hope ur referral doesn't take too long to come through. its the waiting that I hate most. I think I'll start to feel better when I have date for next appt!

victoria401 · 18/06/2014 13:06

Hi girls!

Those who have had nhs referrals to see a fertility clinic, how long was your wait? We are envoking the law of sod by booking a holiday abroad for 3 months time! Really looking forward to it though, me and dh in the sunshine for a week chilling by the sea, bit of snorkling and culture. Making the most of couple time in case by some miracle ivf works and I guess having a taste of the rest of our lives if it doesn't.....

lildottie · 18/06/2014 14:14

Vic my appt can through within about 3 weeks and the appt was only a week or so after that. where have you booked for holiday? sounds like an excellent plan to me!

victoria401 · 18/06/2014 15:27

3 weeks!? Wow! Guess it depends on post code as usual. We live in a massive city, prob takes ages. Girl I know waited 4 months for our clinic back in 2011 but another girl on the forum only waited 2 months last year. We shall see....

xBlueberry88x · 18/06/2014 16:24

hey vicky I think I got my letter after 2 weeks and appointment was about 3 weeks away.

I am so MEGA nervous about tomorrow....AF has shown up yet either arghhhhhh I cried loads last night after a bfn got my hopes up stupidly this month.

victoria401 · 18/06/2014 16:47

Look on the bright side that you're not on af for your appointment blueberry x

m33r · 18/06/2014 17:48

Hi vic. I got a letter after about two months telling me I was in the queue. Then got another one five months later telling me my first appt was in three weeks.

OP posts:
m33r · 18/06/2014 17:50

blue might you still be in for this month then?

OP posts:
m33r · 18/06/2014 17:51

lil how are you today? I get days like that too. Hope it passed; is not, feel free to vent! X

OP posts:
xBlueberry88x · 18/06/2014 20:19

doubt it m33r itll probably turn up with avengance tomorrow when id rather it wouldnt.

lildottie · 18/06/2014 20:33

hi m33r been fairly busy today which has helped, but think I'm about to ov and feeling a bit miffed we can't try this month. although if I am about to ov that's a fairly short cycle for me (cd14 today) so at least AF will show up sooner so we can get going!

Vic it really is a lottery. I'd just phone drs after 2weeks to check referral got sent. then chase fortnightly! no harm in chasing.

blue did u say bfn last night? so not fmu? so not really a definitive test? so you could still be in the game? I think you see where I'm going with this Grin. fx AF stays away, at least for the appt, but preferably for 9months!

Nonconformist34 · 18/06/2014 20:48

Hi Vic, I was called within several weeks of referral being sent and appt was 8 weeks from then. They actually rang me up on my mobile and we were offered a date which suited us both. We could have altered it there and then if needed to which is so much easier than being sent a letter by post and then rearranging it. Luckily, our appointment is the week before we are away for two weeks.

I know what you mean with the holiday dilemma, you get to the point where you can't keep putting life on hold just in case you may be pregnant or now in our cases, in case fertility appointments come up! (You can't win).

lildottie · 18/06/2014 20:56

actually I was same as non - got a phone call and was given choice of clinic and dates then they confirmed what I'd booked by phone by letter.

xBlueberry88x · 19/06/2014 18:40

Well ladies ive had my appointment af turned up this morning as well to make my day even better.

Dr asked lotsa questions and did an internal scan.

Ive got no lumps or growths in there.

Ive got to book a hsg and some more blood tests all needing to be on set days which I cant bloody do this month as ive already used my holiday and half days.

Dr also asked me to loose weight as it might help so appointment booked for September to check up on all results and my weight and then can decide on course of action but he didnt seem worried.

stepmama84 · 19/06/2014 18:51

Hi blue, glad today all seemed quite positive. Fx you get an appt quickly for the hycosy. Smile

victoria401 · 19/06/2014 19:14

Hi blue, you're health should always come before work. Where I work you don't need to take time as leave for hospital appointments. Waiting longer can be detrimental to your mental health and wellbeing. I am aware that its only you in the office at the moment but your boss of all people should be understanding of the need for hospital appointments. He doesn't need to know what they're for.

hope everyone else is well and enjoying the sun x

xBlueberry88x · 19/06/2014 19:18

Hey vicky he wouldnt mind but then the office will be shut.

Ive got 3 months to do the tests anyway so its not to bad

ImaginaryHat · 21/06/2014 17:40

Hiya ladies. Just popping my head in to say hi. Not been around for a few weeks. Went on hol at the end of may and tbh just wanted a break from thinking about ttc for a while so took myself off mumsnet for a bit. Not had chance to read back yet, but just wanted to say I hope you're all getting on OK and everyone who's been having tests etc I hope they've gone well. To all those waiting for appointments I hope they come soon.

silverine · 21/06/2014 17:59

Hi all, how is everyone this weekend? It's been a bit on and off cloudy but we managed to grab some sunbathing this afternoon in the garden. trying to build up a bit of a shield before going away in under 3 weeks' time!
First poas today and bfn on a boots early test. Saving the 1 frer I have left for tomorrow when I'll be either 12 dpo (1 day early) or 9 dpo (4 days early). My temps indicated 2 possible ov days this month so still hoping (despite no symptoms - fool!)

victoria401 · 21/06/2014 19:27

Hi everyone

Lots of sun down here! Baked! My sister and her kids came down today and we went to a petting zoo/adventure playground type place. God they're spoiled stroppy brats. Almost put me off having kids! Although I know my upbringing would be different methods to my sisters, who is also a stroppy cow and I can see where they get it!

Going back to my middle age/retired 34 year old self tomorrow as going to the garden centre and food shopping! Although last night I went to a mind, body and soul evening with mindfulness and meditation techniques. I was surprised how much mindfulness I've already been doing without realising since we got the infertility diagnosis. I've been appreciating what we have got not thinking about what we haven't. I've been looking at the beauty of the blue skies, trees filled with birdsong and the lovely blooms in peoples front gardens as I pass on the way to the bus stop. :-)

Have a nice rest of weekend girls x
