Scan ok, just one follicle measuring 14mm Smile . The nurse said it was quite common to just get one follicle on the first round but they have had some ladies pregnant with just one. Got to go for another scan and bloods tomorrow as they want it to be 17mm. kitty that will be my 5th dildoscan in 12 days! Hopefully the treatment will go ahead at the end of the week Grin .
Rushed straight from the scan to school, been out on a class trip to the woods all day, straight into staff meeting and then had a quick meeting with the head and deputy to tell them I was going to give in my notice. Phew! What a day!!! Confused I would love a Wine right now but I'm being good!!

happylass · 13/05/2014 17:57

Great news Barking. It only takes one!
Can't believe I've never had a dildocam . Still I shouldn't complain as I'm sure I'll be sick of them once we start treatment!

RevoltingPeasant · 13/05/2014 18:12

Barking excellent! It's a good news week this week.

Will you miss the intermittent dildocams when you get diffed? Will a little part of you think wistfully, 'You know, I've not had a registrar stuff a probe up my fanje in months now...'?

Grin

How did they take your resignation?

Had a slightly pointless day but getting geared up for basting tonight....! Syringes ahoy!

barkingtreefrog · 13/05/2014 18:18

rp the nurse last week actually started off by asking 'have you had one of these scans before?' then obviously recalled my notes and said 'oh of course, you were here yesterday....'

The head actually took it very well to my face and said she understood my reasons. I just told her that I didn't know what the immediate future held but if I ended up with further rounds of IUI, then IVF, possibly onto adoption who knows, I couldn't carry on going through all that and giving the job 100% at the same time. Which is totally true and not just an excuse at all. I didn't tell her I had a job elsewhere as she didn't need to know that.....

winohhh · 13/05/2014 18:34

Happy, I can't believe you've never had a dildocam!! You get used to them!

Barking, great news, fingers crossed the follicle keeps growing!

RP, good luck with the basting!

TheRainDrops · 13/05/2014 19:30

Great news barking - hope tomorrow's scan gives the result they want.

Dildocams? Pah! They're ten a penny, I even managed to squeeze a totally random one in while on holiday last year!

Started packing for holiday this eve - very organised and completely unlike me! We've even booked a motel for the night before we fly as we're on a ridiculous red eye that would've have meant getting up to leave at 3am from our house.
No chance of relaxation holiday diffage as the witch is scheduled to arrive on Monday. Boo hiss!

Tallyra · 13/05/2014 19:31

Ooh, hb pupo!!!! Good luck!!!

winohhh · 13/05/2014 19:40

PUPO hb! Keeping everything crossed!

tigerdog · 13/05/2014 19:58

all sounds good barking!

syringes ahoy indeed rp, get the basting action underway!

Had our follow up FC appointment today. Basically, the deal is one cycle of IVF after THREE years of trying for couples with unexplained infertility, and you only get on the waiting list after the three years, then there is a 3-4 month waiting time for treatment. So we have another 18m-2years to wait/keep trying before we would get any assistance from the NHS. This feels like a really long time to wait on top of the 18 months we have already been trying....should it come to that, of course.

They also offered a laparoscopy to see if I have any issues with endometriosis. This only came about because I said I didn't feel that anyone had adequately addressed my heavy/painful periods that cause me a lot of discomfort. Anyone have any experience of endo?

The other thing of note was the dramatic improvement in OH's SA results. He was above the bar in all areas first time around, back in October, although on the low side of normal for motility. This time his results were excellent, in particular 87% progessive motility (up from 47%) and increase in sperm concentration from 35 x 10(6)/ml to 242 x 10(6)/ml. The only things he was doing differently was taking Wellman conception vitamins, and sticking his balls under a cold shower for a few seconds every day! I think it was down to the vits, OH is convinced that the cold showers are the key (because he discovered this old wives tale all by himself!) but either way its good!

happylass · 13/05/2014 20:29

Great news about the improved SA Tiger. My DP has been on the Zita West vits for a few months so I'm hoping for an improvement. I'll have to tell him about the cold ball wash too [grin{
Your NHS wait sounds pretty much like ours. We can get on the list after 2 years but then it's a minimum of 12 months wait "in case you get pg in that time" (WTAF are the chances of getting pg after 2 years of trying when you've got crappy eggs and sperm?!?) but it's more likely to be an 18 month wait. We do at least get 2 attempts after all that waiting.
Why have I never been offered the ol dildocam ladies? What could it have shown up??

happylass · 13/05/2014 20:30

PS what is this >> Bike for Confused

tigerdog · 13/05/2014 20:47

On yer Bike! Random.

happy I only had a dildocam to check for fibroids etc after going to my gp about heavy periods. It wasn't directly related to ttc, but as we were, the gp thought it made sense to get checked out.

In our area, if infertlity is explained then the wait is only two years for IVF. Seems a bit unfair because after two years you'd think the only reason you might be unexplained is because the problem hasn't been found (rather than there not being a problem). I guess for us the decision is whether we would go private in the interim if we haven't conceived by the end of this year...

beakybeak · 13/05/2014 20:51

Barking good news on the follie! Fx it gets to 17mm ASAP! How've you found it so far? Any weird things I should know?! Keeping everything crossed for you.

Tiger hope your day improved. Great news about your oh's sa! That's a fantastic result! Maybe I can convince my dh to start his again. I cannot believe that your nhs make you wait 3 years, that is ridiculous and then only 1 round. However at least we aren't in Harrogate where apparently they offer no assistance whatsoever. A laparoscopy could help clear up endometriosis if that's what you have Tiger I vote go for it. They can also pick up any other issues they wouldn't know about while in there too.

Happy dildocaming was actually ok, one of the less horrendous things to go through in this process. They told me in mine I had a cyst and adenomyosis - which is responsible for my heavy very painful and -TMI, clotty af's. So I would try and get one if I were you Happy.

beakybeak · 13/05/2014 20:52

Good luck basting RP!

nolly3 · 13/05/2014 20:58

Nice one barking

Good news too on sa tiger. Our wait would be similar, but we're off to pastures new so who knows. Does feel like fucking ages.

I've had one dildocam happy. Which aurocorrects to Moldovan, haha. I have never knowingly shagged an eastern European. If that's where Moldova is. It was to conform pco - I.e. a total waste of time. and def not worth shaving my legs for

feather you OK?

Where are you off to rain?

More excellent ttc advice today from mad friend -"have an affair". Riiiiight.

happylass · 13/05/2014 21:02

Hmmm I have no issues with AF, maybe this is why I haven't had the dildocam? I'll be pretty Angry if it shows something up when we go private. I've had a HSG, would any cysts/polyps have shown up on that? I believe Kitty didn't have a dildocam until she started IUI and then cysts were found??

beakybeak · 13/05/2014 21:28

Happy I don't think the HSG shows anything other than whether your tubes are blocked, whereas the dildocam is a proper internal scan (I also had a normal scan at the same time) but they managed to pick up a lot from mine. I think it's worth having even if it just rules out any other problems.

Nolly what's your friend at with her bizarro advice!! Makes me wonder what state her life is in...! Hope your new FC is quicker and more generous with their IVF etc.

HampshireBlues · 13/05/2014 21:32

Well done Barking I hope it keeps growing.

Good luck with the basting RP

Tiger good job to MrT in improving his SA that's good news. As for the whole postcode lottery and IVF, don't get me started. The inequalities across the country are appalling, local areas should nit be given the ability to set their own criteria, it should be across the board (sorry, will get off soap box now).

Where are you off to Rain?

tigerdog · 13/05/2014 21:57

beaky I think I will go for the laparoscopy. Makes sense to rule everything out.

hb I completely agree with you. It is deeply unfair and the NHS does nothing about it because making it fairer would cost too much money! One national policy would mean lots more people being eligible for additional treatment and an investment of several million so it hasn't been done.

nolly your friend's advice stinks!! Hope you are moving to somewhere with a more generous policy than ours. My home town offers 3 cycles - maybe we'll move back in a year or two!

BlindKitty · 13/05/2014 21:58

barking one follie is great! Two is risking it anyway!

happy I was refused a dildo cam (was told unnecessary). When I started my iui they found I had multicystic ovaries, which apparently shouldn't mean I can't conceive but after 2.5yrs I think otherwise!

TheRainDrops · 13/05/2014 22:05

Cheezus, the difference in treatment on the nhs is just ridiculous. According to the infertility network our CCG funds 2 rounds of IVF but no idea what the wait or ttc duration criteria are until we see our FC in July - and that's assuming my miscarriage isn't counted against me. I also don't know if we're allowed to take any private treatment while we wait, so literally everything on hold till July!

tiger well done to Mr Tiger on his stonking improvement in his SA! I just told MrP he needs to ice bathe his nuts every morning, he didn't look convinced!

nolly your friend sounds cray-cray. I hope that was a joke (although she shouldn't really be joking about this stuff).

happy I had a dildocam as part of my HyCoSy exam, which does much the same as a HSG (except I think a HSG is more detailed?). I then had another while away last year as I have a family member who's a doctor abroad and he arranged for me to meet his hospitals fertility team to see what costs of treatment abroad are like (something I'd still consider) - I was expecting just a bit of a chat but before I knew it I was legs akimbo with a dildocam on the go. I then had various internal ultrasounds for the miscarriage, which was just bollocks as you can probably imagine.

We are off for a week of sunny sun in Turkey. Beaches and relaxation only - no gallivanting allowed. Of course it's just typical that the witch is due but I am not going to let her rain on my parade!

nolly3 · 13/05/2014 22:19

She is mad. And has 2 kids . But to be fair to her she was also pissed and didn't know what to say when she got an honest answer to the 'so When are you guys going to have a BABY for gods sake' question.

Holiday wine at least, eh rain? Or gin - as it'll be hot. Can you tell I fancy a drink? Oh is being sanctimonious about weekday boozing having failed to.keep loving partner to healthy ttc lifestyle

happylass · 13/05/2014 22:35

Thanks for the dildocam advice ladies. I guess I'll have to wait for our appointment at the private FC and see what they say there. I'm guessing if anything treatable shows up I can always go back to the NHS.
Lol at the impromptu dildocam Rain!! Holiday sounds lovely, ours is ages away!
The NHS provision here is quite generous despite the shitty waiting time. 2 cycles for under 40s and 1 cyle for 40-42 year olds. Plus couples are entitled to treatment if only one partner has a biological child which I think is quite unusual.
Angry at your friend's comments nolly. People really do say the most ridiculous things!!

tigerdog · 13/05/2014 22:37

Actually, I have done some digging and there is a draft policy revising the access criteria to two years of trying across our local CCGs. So perhaps only a further 6 month - 1 year wait after all.

rain your CCG should have a website and they usually publish the policy that would answer those questions.

RevoltingPeasant · 13/05/2014 22:47

HB you would love my GP.

Me: So if it came to ivf, how many cycles would I get?

Her: One.

Me: Oh that's a shame. I know it's more in other places.

Her: No, it's the same everywhere. Otherwise it would be a postcode lottery.

Me: Um, well I think it kind of is.

Her: No, because that would be a postcode lottery and we don't have those on the NHS.

Me: right Hmm

So now you know: everywhere is the same.

Assuming that is a TdF Bike?
