This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Hi missmamabear welcome to mums net - you may be better posting this on the main forum rather than in here as this thread us for people who have recurrent miscarriage and high nk cells and who are on a certain treatment programme which includes steroids.

freelancegirl · 06/11/2014 13:53

Hello all, sorry for continued ttc struggles. It's not much fun! Big waves to oldbies baking, belly and choccy.

Choccy in response to your question. I guess I always knew I wanted two children so the aim was to try again at some point but yes the idea of going through it all again was daunting. I think, like a lot of things in retrospect, you gloss over the really stressful bits.

I remember saying to myself I would give myself 3 goes after DS - ie out myself thorough no more than 3 mcs but who knows if the goal posts would have moved. It has been truly hard work getting pregnant, taking steroids, feeling sick etc then having another miacarriage and ERPC this time last year, then being pregnant again and having a toddler to look after. I wouldn't relish doing it again! But I also didn't mentally count my miscarriage before this pregnancy as one of my three being that it was a happy accident (can you believe it!) and also turned out to be chromosomal. Then it was another hard slog of a few months to recover and ttc. But anyway...I would say if you really want to try again don't let that all stop you! But maybe give yourself a limit like I did.

I would lone to know how cheerful is getting on as I know she had another mc after a successful pregnant like me.

Hi guys!
All the best freelance-u got ur two dc! Yay!
Had my lh surge today. So will pop my pred in 2 days time. I hope my bfp is around the corner as starting to get impatient and dh is also feeling a bit crap about it all...
Rosa not heard from u in a while
Hope all ok?
Sunny enjoy DTD! It's always better when it's on a weekend! I'm so tired after work it's not very sexy and more mechanical!

Mel3062 · 07/11/2014 05:19

Sunny were similar timings but I've been on 150 gonal f, really suffered with headaches with it. Scan was mon and had 2 at 21mm and an extra large empty one! Last cycle I was on 75 and mr s upped dose and I had several smaller cyst like ones then that are common apparently.
I had to inject mon and Dtd mon, tue which we managed as hubby luckily wasn't away tue like he normally is! Had awful pains yest so wondering if ovulated yesterday Dtd last night just in case though had cysitis too :(
Good luck x
Waves to everyone

Rosa27 · 07/11/2014 08:12

Hi Trying .. I've just been lying low as just had two BFN in a row. The pred is making me feel shattered and bloated so having to mentally pick myself up again. Not sure how long I should / can try..
Hi everyone else.. Lovely to read the positive news...

Tryingno1 · 07/11/2014 12:13

Hi rosa I'm sorry to hear that :(
When u seeing mr s? He usually says to stop at 6 months if no bfp but he might have some other advice-like reducing dose:less days. Might be worth emailing Louise ?
A low salt diet might help retain less water while your on it
Sorry for the bfN. I've had 3 so far and getting impatient...I don't know how I got preg the first 2 times in a month....hopefully one of us new bees will have good news soon

freelancegirl · 07/11/2014 18:41

It took me 5 months with this pregnancy and felt like ages as I too had always got pregnant straight away before. I can't imagine what it must be like to try for a year or more like people often do!

Tryingno1 · 07/11/2014 23:02

Freelance took me 5 last time. I've just finished DTD for 4! And I've it hasn't work we going back to old fashioned every other day...as my dh thinks I'm getting a bit crazy with the charting and the lh surge seeking and cm looking......I think he's right. It's so easy to get all consumed by it...I'm not even sure if I did it as "perfectly" as I would have wanted to...confusingly my cm dried up today but lh surge was yest? I was expecting to ovulate today and so to have lots of ecwm...sorry tmi!

Oh who knows!
Ps when are u due? Is it boy or girl? And which do you already have!
Sigh Confused

Tryingno1 · 07/11/2014 23:05

Ps sigh was for me! Not u! Wrong place! Face for you should be Grin
Xx

freelancegirl · 08/11/2014 07:27

I wasn't monitoring surges etc, it's a bit too organised for me! I've always loosely stuck to the sperm meets egg plan but started on day 8 and tried to dtd every day (yep) for about 10 days. I know theres a theory that this might not bring the best sperm or tire you out but it has always worked for us - even though it did take 5 months this time. And DH is now over 50! You wouldn't believe it looking at him though so I hope his younger looks have also applied with his sperm :) I was almost 38 when I had DS and am now 40 although 39 when this one was conceived.

DS is now 2.4 and this one is Team Yellow so far. I can't quite believe it's happening but hope I stand as proof it can work. Mr S said my nkc levels were in the top 5% that he ever sees in the clinic.

Rosa27 · 08/11/2014 09:00

Trying - hope this is your month. I've no date yet to see the doc again. I should but he wasn't free when next in London and it's hard with work.. Will see before end of year.

Free.. Your story is so encouraging. I'm 38 but still no children. I've also v high and v active nk plus other things hence my hydroxy, thyroid medication and would need intralipids. Worried my eggs are too old and/or few now.. Or stress of it all just taken it's toll. I wonder if should try without pred until BFP .. But how awful would it be if these few days without caused another miscarriage. Hmmm anyway it's so great you've got the family of your dreams.. It can happen Smile

Tryingno1 · 08/11/2014 09:26

Freelance - I think I'm going to do alt day then day 11 onwards everyday as I know I always ovulate day 14/15. So glad it worked out for u...it's a long slog but u got there at the end! Are ur baby making days over u think?
Rosa-I missed out the pred last month and worried I would get preg and it would lead to a miscarriage too....it's so hard to know wot to do. But I'm back to following his plan this month
Waves to others!

freelancegirl · 08/11/2014 13:18

I've had an under active thyroid (hasimotos) since I was 21 too so on thyroxine as usual - just increased from 125 to 150mcg and yes needed intralipids. Has he spoken to you about hydroxychloroquine? I've been on that for both my DS and also this pregnancy. And yes, I'm sticking at two!

MrBrownieGecko · 09/11/2014 18:05

Evening ladies. Just thought I'd pop my head to say hi Blush. I've been checking this thread periodically since we had our DD a few years ago. It's nice to see some familiar names here! Hopefully I'll be able to contribute more as our journey to try and have no.2 kicks off.

freelancegirl · 09/11/2014 19:46

Ooh hello again Brownie, hope all is well! How old is dd now and are you trying again now? Good luck!

MrBrownieGecko · 09/11/2014 19:55

Hi free, DD is two and a half now. I feel a bit of a fraud as I'm not Brownie, I'm her husband. But please don't throw me out! I'll try and get Brownie back on here so she can tell you how our journey has been since DD was born.

Tryingno1 · 09/11/2014 21:21

Hi mr brownie! Def come
Join us! It's so nice for us who are starting out journey to hear of others who have been succesful! Hope you have been enjoying ur dd and excited to start trying for number 2!
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend

freelancegirl · 09/11/2014 23:00

Ooh MrB! Nice of you to take an interest. Hope MrsB is well and of course you're most welcome. My DS is 2.4 and I'm on Pred baby number two already - all going well he/ she should be here by Christmas.

MrBrownieGecko · 10/11/2014 17:08

Thanks for the welcome Trying.
Ah free, are you going to be the first to have 2 pred babies?! That's awesome, congratulations. Fingers crossed for a safe arrival.

After DD was born Brownie had another (early) MC, and then another ectopic which was pretty horrendous. She had to take methotrexate which I believe they also use as a chemotherapy drug and felt crap for quite some time.
Since then we've tried one last time and at the moment she's 11 weeks pregnant ... with twins. Whatever happens we're both in agreement that this is our last throw of the dice after 10 pregnancies!

freelancegirl · 10/11/2014 17:27

Oh my goodness - twins! Ari on here is also having twins. Was that without any fertility assistance? I wouldn't normally ask as my best friend had twins and was asked that all the time and I realise it's quite a personal question! However given our circumstances here hope it's acceptable.

Poor both of you going through the intervening two pregnancies. Especially the ectopic. Sounds awful. I too had another mc after DS and it was the only one I've ever managed to have tested and turned out to be chromosomal. It's tough being pregnant and then miscarrying and then pregnant again when you have a toddler to look after so brownie has all my sympathy in terms of sickness, tiredness and all the physical symptoms.

I don't think I am the first one with the second Pred baby as a few people have found their way to this thread after one Pred baby and then had another. I might be the first to do so as a 'thread member' although not quite sure.

Iggi999 · 10/11/2014 19:05

Lovely to hear how the BrownieG family are getting on - would be fantastic to complete your journey with twins Smile
Although we have finished at two I lurk regularly as I really want to see everyone on this thread reach their happy ending - much positive news in this regard of late Smile though obviously sader news for others too.

Arianrhod · 10/11/2014 21:27

So good to see you MrB and /waves to MrsB, give her our love! So sorry to hear what you've gone through but huge congrats on the twins - was it a shock? Hopefully MrsB is having as much in the way of care and monitoring at the hospital as I've had.

Daisybell1 · 10/11/2014 22:42

Ladies, can I ask a quick question? After dd and then 4 mcs, and testing normal at St Marys, we've decided to try prof quenby. I'm afraid that this is tmi but I surprisingly had ewmc a couple of days ago and have been doing ov tests since - but they seem to be getting paler - have I missed it? I've never done ov tests so don't know which came first - the ewmc or the +ve test....

Mel3062 · 11/11/2014 04:26

Keep testing daisy bell as ecwm can come for a few days beforehand x

Tryingno1 · 11/11/2014 11:37

Hi daisy.
My ecwm comes a few days before. And then stops quite quickly after ovulation. But this changes every month and sometimes I get it a few days after ovulation too.
But I would say a lot of women get it in the lead up to ovulation As its the oestrogen rising, to trigger off you lh to surge. So physiologically speaking that's what should happen...
Keep testing and hopefully it's round the corner
