Bloody hell...I'm going to have to extend this to shag month if I may not even ovulate until day 40-something. I'm not sure I'll have the energy once work starts again!

Gillster · 24/04/2014 17:09

So just been to the FC. There was some initial confusion as to why we were there even though they had made the appointment. Anyway once I have the op I need to request treatment on CD1. I then take drugs to thicken the endometrial lining and have a similar number of scans as before. We currently have 6 one cell embies in the freezer. They will take four of these out to defrost as they like to take double the amount that they intend to put back in (i.e. 2 in my case). They only let them divide once before putting them back into me (which is effectively a day 2 transfer under normal circumstances). They cannot re freeze the embies so once they're out, they're out. If it fails then we wait another three months and defrost the final 2.

ladybunnikins · 24/04/2014 18:09

That's great that they'll put 2 back Gill, let the palace preparation commence!

Gillster · 24/04/2014 18:43

Some major renovations are required Lady!

beakybeak · 24/04/2014 20:11

Gill that sounds like a good plan, do you feel any happier having a plan in place? It's flying round, may next week! You will be back in in no time.

Boodle I do not envy the prospect of shag month!

Lady how are you feeling for tomorrow?

Tiger are you feeling any better today? I've been pestering dh for a holiday since you all keep talking about them :-) we have agreed to go on a lovely NY/Vegas type hol if there's no impending bump by Christmas.

How's everyone else? We seem to be missing a few berries lately!

greatbigbushybeard · 24/04/2014 20:27

Go gilster and boodle with the mammoth shagging! just thinking about it tires me out! I find it so weird that we're all trying to dtd loads and then there are people like my work colleague who say it wasn't planned and surprised them. I suppose it's just a case of getting lucky and some people are just more fertile than others! Still, when someone says it was a surprise I really want to ask how?? If you didn't use contraception then how is it a surprise... I suppose for us it would bloody be a surprise!! Maybe it's just me on that one!

Really interesting reading about other people's cycles post Ivf, I hadn't even thought about that bit. I suppose with the huge cocktail of drugs we've been taking and tinkering it's only normal that our bodies would take a while to get back to normal.

How did you find the side effects of Ivf lady and boodle? Dh was asking me earlier. I've found recently I'm quite bloated and a bit sore around my abdomen. Also have had some strong headaches, need a wee a lot etc. I don't think my moods have been too bad.

Know what you mean boodle re after 2nd go of throwing towel in. We get three gos, will just have to cross that bridge when we come to it. I think if this fails, we would probably have another go etc but in the end if it doesn't work I think I am coming nearer to coming to terms with it and being happy with my lot. As you say luxuries etc, why not. Life can be good as just the two of us. Feel quite close to dh at mo and do feel you know what, it wouldn't be all that bad just us two.

Going for my scan tomorrow. Feel a bit like I'm on the precipice of something. It's going to be tricky with work, I've almost got to have two plans for the kids, plan a and b according to whether I'm in or not as I've got some assessments that need to be done by me. Proving tricky trying it fit it all into what is quite a short term.

tigerdog · 24/04/2014 20:29

gil sounds like another step in the right direction! Great that they'll put back two.

good luck for tomorrow lady!

shag month boodle bloody hell. That would be a sterling effort.

Well beaky I am feeling better, as I'm out of the office and no work for 11 days! whooop! I really have had enough of my job at the moment. Looking forward to a busy day tomorrow: acupuncture, pedicure and wax to ensure I am holiday ready Grin as well as packing and sorting out a load of house stuff. Will also spend some precious time with the fur baby, as I am feeling very sad about leaving her at the kennels Sad. NY/Vegas sounds great - do it!! We did 3 weeks in California prior to starting ttc, thinking it would be our last holiday without a baby....oh to be that hopeful again!

tigerdog · 24/04/2014 20:33

good luck for tomorrow bushy. I agree, it seems incredible that someone can get pregnant by surprise, just by dtd once and being a bit careless, whereas we are at it like rabbits for weeks on end, and nada. My sister got pregnant at a very young age, by having unprotected sex just the once. It was a scandal, but I have a lovely 11 year old nephew now.

ladybunnikins · 24/04/2014 21:08

Thanks all, good luck Bushy. Feeling bloated is the only side effect I've had but today my ovaries have felt quite painful. I had an admin day at work but decided to come home because it was painful to walk/sit in a chair. I know last time they said I was at risk of OHSS so drinking lots of fluid and eating protein.

Gillster · 24/04/2014 22:18

Good luck Lady and Bushy for tomorrow.

I felt quite bloated and sore Bushy and was uncomfortable for a few days afterwards.

BoodleDoo · 24/04/2014 23:04

Bushy, I had some headaches and bloating to the point where I felt quite uncomfortable as we went towards egg collection. I had a general malaise going on which I couldn't really pinpoint. I suspect it was physical side-effects plus mental fretting.

Shag month may just have to be. Had a little bit of pink this morning but it's gone again now. Just hope body doesn't play silly buggers for too long!

beakybeak · 25/04/2014 08:28

Good luck for EC today Lady and Bushy are you in today for a scan? Good luck if so Grin

barkingtreefrog · 25/04/2014 09:25

Hellloooooo!!!!! Last night of honeymoon here! On wifi trying to work out what to do with 10 hours to kill at the airport between flights...

tiger we did california last summer! It was amazing!! I've already told dh that if we're not diffed by july we're booking flights to canada for christmas!! Keep up the expensive long flight holidays until there's a reason not to!

I'm quite chuffed with myself for keeping to the wheat free diet while away. Apart from a quiche and cheesecake that our friends had cooked for us when we stayed with them (and I ate as I thought it would be rude not to even though she offered me the previous night's left overs!) I have kept it up. Hopefully it will help!

IUI appointment next Tuesday..... Ridiculously excited about finally doing something that might actually work!!

I would say normal mn service will resume from monday but the short 4 week half term is manically busy, I reckon it'll be the next holiday before I know it blatantly not as I'll be waiting to see if the iui works so it will drag on and on

beakybeak · 25/04/2014 09:32

Tiger ( and anyone else with weird AF after HSG) just wanted to ask you about your cycles post HSG, you mentioned a really short one, can I ask you was it still "proper flow" rather than just spotting? Sorry re the personal question and also the tmi... It's just mine has been just spotting and it's very light, only on tissue no liners etc needed at all, and it's old blood. I've not had a proper bleed at all although there has been a small amount of red blood briefly first thing for 3 mornings. It's completely stopped now too. Anyone have any idea when I should count cd1 from as well? Confused thanks berries!

Enjoy your day prepping for holiday Tiger I hate leaving my puppy too, wish we could bring them with us!

beakybeak · 25/04/2014 10:08

Barking how exciting that you are getting started! Fx the next 4 weeks will fly over and will have a very pleasing ending!

Did you get to do a sky dive in the end?

ladybunnikins · 25/04/2014 10:21

Hope you had a good holiday, Barking, despite the weather, and good luck with the IUI appointment!
Last IVF I got 22 eggs but the quality wasn't great. This time we were hoping for quality over quantity but they retrieved 26! Last time my oestrogen level was 4000 before trigger and this time it was 19000 so I'm hoping that's an indicator of egg maturity. I've been warned about OHSS and if I develop it we may have to freeze the embryos.

barkingtreefrog · 25/04/2014 10:59

beaky no skydive, despite trying on 4 different days. Weather far too shitty. Missed a cycle for no reason not that it was likely to make a difference.

The appointment is just our first contact, but I'm due to start AF by the end of next week and am desperately hoping that means we get to start straight away.

lady bloody hell, what a number! Everything crossed for you.

tigerdog · 25/04/2014 11:04

beaky I did have brown blood spotting post hsg but then a normal full flow on day 33 - and my cycles are usually 27-28 days on average so it came very late. The short cycle was pre hsg so no explanation for that one.

barking hello! Exciting times ahead! Hope you had an amazing time, I'm with you on packing in the holidays!

26 eggs lady!? Two bakers' dozens, impressive. Fingers crossed the next steps go well and OHSS stays away.

FC rant coming up. Just received a letter cancelling my appt in May and offering me one at a different time that day. This is the third time they have done this! I pick a time which means I can avoid taking a day off to attend and then they change it at the last minute. This appt was booked in Jan ffs and they change it now! Grrrrrr. And they are so rude and unhelpful...if I can't make that time then I have to wait until October apparently.

Anyway off to acupuncture now. Hopefully that will help me calm down!

HampshireBlues · 25/04/2014 11:11

Good luck Lady & Bushy take it easy this afternoon.

beakybeak · 25/04/2014 12:07

Wow Lady that's a great Easter egg haul! Fx for excellent quality and no ohss, when will they contact you next?

Barking shame about the skydive but at least you had a lovely time anyway.

Tiger that is so rubbish! I can't believe the next one would be October. They really just expect us to drop everything for them, but of course we have to as we wouldn't want to miss an earlier appointment. Could you maybe complain and see if you can keep the original time?

ladybunnikins · 25/04/2014 19:17

Beaky they'll phone tomorrow to tell us how many eggs are mature and how many have fertilized.
Bushy how did the scan go?

BecauseIsaidS0 · 25/04/2014 19:32

Fingers crossed for you, Beaky!!!

greatbigbushybeard · 25/04/2014 22:14

Hello! Had scan today and we're on for egg collection Tuesday-eek! Very exciting!! She said lining was very good ( get me!!) and could see 15 follicles, so the estradiol level must have been high for this to go ahead.

Fantastic lady! Perhaps you can give me some pointers. All they've said to me about egg collection is not to wear nail varnish, and no eating on the morning and I can drink water til 8.15. I don't know whether I'm to bring a dressing gown, slippers. I expect it's no makeup but not sure about the rules on deodorant, moisturiser etc, meant to be good to avoid perfumed products. Can you tell me what you did? Also is it like a mini op so you're gowned up etc? How are you feeling? The notes made me laugh as they said no driving and no cooking for 48 hours. Now there's a cast iron excuse to get out of kitchen duties!!

barking so exciting to hear from someone on the other side of the world! sounds like you've had a great time, wishing you a safe flight home, seems to have gone really quickly.

tiger unfortunately I think it can be some medical staff receptionionists who can be a right pain.I think the power goes to their heads and they become real jobsworths.

Had some real classics at work today that I thought I'd share with you berries: up duff colleague on telling other colleague reiterates the non planned part and how she'd have liked the gap to have been longer between children. She then tells everyone her friend is pg too, apparently she went away for a weekend to try!! Someone else said crikey I'd have needed to go for months of weekends and said that she had miscarriages etc and hers were very much wanted. Later in the day got asked my new colleague do I want children, tried to side step it as best I could.... Er yes, in fact I'm currently undergoing Ivf and if you lot think 4 mths is a long time to wait to get pg you should try 2+ fricking years- put that in your pipe and smoke it..was what I wanted to say but didn't!!

Feeling really tired now so better go tidy up etc.

ladybunnikins · 25/04/2014 22:37

That's great news, Bushy! So will you be doing your trigger shot on Sunday night? I was told that roll-on deodorant was fine, just no aerosols and perfume/aftershave (for both of us). I didn't wear moisturiser just in case! Had to change into a disposable hospital gown and I was told to take a dressing gown and slippers. Went into theatre at 9am, monitoring on, cannula in, IV antibiotics, oxygen mask, legs up into position and then a lovely sleep. Woke up, got into a bed, cannula out, cup of tea, surgeon and embryologist came to speak to me and then on our way home at 10am. Feeling OK now, still bloated but much better than yesterday.

ladybunnikins · 25/04/2014 22:48

Oh and DH provided his sample when we got there. He was told to "get rid of the old sperm" and abstain for about 2-3 days before the sample.
