morerum · 06/06/2014 12:26

calling that's brilliant so happy for you!
ginger sorry I missed ur comment yesterday yes we are sill decided on the 2 names we picked earlier
better ive got to go to the hospital this afternoon and get a sweep the policy says mw cannot do it before 40 weeks and im 39&5 weeks. ive also to get an early induction as the only date the mw could give me was 20th june and she thinks that is too far away.
so hopefully baby will be here for the beginning of next week!!!!!

BetterNotBitter · 06/06/2014 13:54

So when will the induction be morerum?

CallingAllEngels · 06/06/2014 14:02

Only Hmm was that the new guidance in the NL is NO ALCOHOL at all. Not even one little glass of wine. Think I had 4 glasses of wine over my whole pg with DS but was made to feel that even that will be harmful.

Oh well, off to prom tonight for school - hoping not to fall asleep too early and that my dress still fits

CallingAllEngels · 06/06/2014 14:04

Oops, where did the beginning of my message go?!

Scan went really well. Measured spot on for my dates so 28th December is due date. Bean was wriggling and waving at us. Managed to get next appt early evening so DH won't have to miss work and DS can come along (the mw for our next appt will be the one who delivered him!).

HungryHorace · 06/06/2014 16:54

Engels, that's great news :-) You must be so relieved.

Morerum, that's really good news. Let's hope the sweep works so you don't need inducing. But good to know it's going to happen sooner rather than later.

And yes Better, I'm free!! It feels very good!

morerum · 06/06/2014 20:28

well I got a sweep today which I must admit was quite uncomfortable he was very thorough!Blush

im 2cm dilated and they are sure ill go into labour over the weekend but have booked me for an induction on thurdsay morning. all systems go and im not afraid to say im bricking it!!!!

HungryHorace · 06/06/2014 21:13

Oh my god! How exciting!

Keep us updated :-)

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 06/06/2014 21:44

Ooohh yey Rum!! Sorry it was uncomfortable, but the end is in sight and it will all be worth it! Yey our first baby!!!! Do keep us updated!

OP posts:
Kt1991 · 06/06/2014 21:59

Good luck rum keep us updated!!! :)
hungry hope your last day went well :) enjoy your time off to spend with DD :)
Glad you had a good scan calling :)
mrs, the meal at TGIs sounds good, will nice for you all to be together before your next arrival!
Good to hear from you again ginger really pleased you had a lovely few weeks :) sorry AF has arrived again, but agree with mrs you should take your mum up on the offer to see someone privately. Hope your DHs apt goes well next month was it?
Not much to report here atm! Feeling hormonal again this week though so going to chat to the midwife when I see her in 2 weeks. Had a really nice day with DS today, usually it's quite stressful taking him out especially without the pushchair, but he was so well enhanced today, and very polite :) my mum treated us to a nice lunch too :)
What's everyone for planned for the weekend?
Apart from rum who might be having her baby!

Kt1991 · 06/06/2014 22:01

Sorry auto correct that was meant to say behaved not enhanced!

BetterNotBitter · 06/06/2014 22:27

Hurrah morerum I'm so pleased theyre not going to leave you ages, hopefully induction wont be needed but at least if it is they arent being awkward about leaving it weeks!! I soooooooo hope baby gets a wriggle on for you over the next day or so!!! Thinking of you :) good luck!!

mrsm22 · 06/06/2014 23:07

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok and ready for the weekend.
Morerum - Great news that you're already 2cm and have had a sweep. My midwife said you can't have one until you're over 40 weeks, how come you've had one a bit earlier? I'm getting offered one at 40 plus 5 but must admit I'm scared. Did it hurt during and/or afterwards? Was there any bleeding? I have a sneaky feeling your baby will be here by Monday! How exciting to have our first baby on the way! I am bricking it too by the way, so you're not alone there. I'm mostly worried about my DS and how he will be when I'm in labour as he only wants me at bedtime. You always assume you'll give birth through the night, I wonder if anyone actually gives birth during the day. Keep us all posted anyway and thinking of you xx
Hi Hungry - Welcome back to being a full time mummy! How does it feel?
Hi Kt - I'm glad you had a nice day with your DS and he behaved. My little monster wouldn't go to bed tonight til nearly 10pm, it was exhausting trying to get him off to sleep since 7.30 pm. Feeling hormonal, moody, emotional and all of those things are very normal. I'm not sure you're midwife will do much but confirm that it's nothin to worry about.
What's everyone doing this weekend?

SwedeAway · 07/06/2014 04:02

Hi everyone, so winter has arrived here with a bang! Minus 4 yesterday morning, terribly cold!! Glad it's weekend, it's been a very long week. Went for a very nice work lunch yesterday. A law firm took us out and I ate like a pigBlush today mil, dd and I are driving to the Freestate where dh's grandparents live on a farm. Going to stay there until Monday. Looking forward to it even though its a bit sad as its a bit of a good bye trip. Less than 2 weeks of work left. Very sad about that but at least I have my job waiting for me in Jan should things change which is a bit of comfort I guess. Not looking forward to the long haul flight being pg and alone with dd but we've done it quite a few times now so fingers crossed its not too stressful. Anyway, going to get ready now, got a 4 hour drive ahead of me today so want to get on the road as early as possible.

mrsm22 · 07/06/2014 06:58

Morerum. - How are you this morning? Anything more to report yet? I'm really excited for you, just can't believe you are or were already 2cm yesterday. Will your DH be having two weeks off?
Better, Kt and Hungry - are all your DH's going to be taking two weeks off, or less or more?

morerum · 07/06/2014 08:48

hey all, well I was abit crampy last night and this morning ive been sick and had a bit of a show. stomping about like a bear with a sore head nobody can escape my wrathAngry
I hink things are progressing was 2 days after sweep with dd before things got going so im hoping for the same.
mrs dh wont be taking anytime off as he won't get any pay but he is out working just now and put in afew extra hrs last week so he should only be out for afew hours each day next week. both our families are really close by so ill have lots of help of needed x

HungryHorace · 07/06/2014 09:18

Sounds promising, morerum. Good luck!

Mrs, I hope you have movement soon too. :-)

It's lovely knowing I've got 7 more months off work. I'm so tired after my stint at work.

Quite busy with appointments for both me and DD the next few weeks, but at least none of them are too early in the day!

mrsm22 · 07/06/2014 12:06

Hi Morerum - Good stuff! That all sounds promising, especially if you've had a bit of a show. Things must be going to happen soon. I never got a show with my DS, is that just the plug coming away and is it pinky? At least your DH won't be out for too long each day. We are in the same boat as my DH is self-employed so we don't earn if he's off. Hoping he will be off for 2 weeks though (sadly with no pay).
Hi Hungry - Yay you've got 7 months off! Will you definitely go back after baby 2? They say it's a lot harder to go back to work when you have two. I'm due back to work in April next year but hoping to leave before that if we can afford it.
I'm due in 6 days but thinking I'll go overdue. I see the midwife on weds at 39 plus 5 and then the week after I see her again at 40 plus 5 when I can have the sweep, which I'm thinking I should probably have.
I feel like all I've done is eat this pregnancy, i hope I'm not going to have loads of weight to lose but imagine I will. I'm normally a nice petite size 8 but I've eaten so much as I'm always hungry and all I've fancied this pregnancy is chocolate (some nights I've had two Twirls, one after the other) and mental cravings for chocolate digestives so I reckon I'll have a lot of weight to lose. Hungry and Morerum - have you fancied bad things like choc or biscuits?

HungryHorace · 07/06/2014 12:44

I've eaten loads of biscuits and cake. This baby is 50% confectionary products! :-/

I have to go back to work as I'm the main earner, and I need to get qualified too, so I can earn more! :-)

DH is having 2 weeks off. He will finish my mat leave too when I go back. I think there'll be 14 weeks left to take.

mrsm22 · 07/06/2014 14:45

Biscuits and cake! Me too and just generally anything sweet. My baby will be 70 percent chocolate. He certainly will like chocolate anyway.

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 07/06/2014 20:59

I have been checking back in all day to see if any updates from Rum, I'm so excited!!! Hope you are doing ok and things are moving along for you.
mrs I personally would recommend having a sweep, they are pretty uncomfortable, but I don't know of any risks really to having one, and I had one the morning I went into labour with DD at 40 + 9 so it might have got things going. Hopefully all your biscuit and chocolate eating will have just gone into making baby grow and you will be right back to your size 8! Smile

Swede your weekend sounds lovely, hope you have a wonderful time even if it is bittersweet. What an amazing job you have too that they are happy to leave it open ended for you to see what happens. Brr to the minus 4 though! Not long now and you will be heading into a Swedish summer!! It hit 22 degrees here today apparently! (Ignoring the morning thunderstorms and torrential rain...) How long is the flight?

Engels so glad for you that everything is ok. Hope you feel you can start to get excited now! How nice you will see a familiar midwife too! Do you think you will listen to the advice about drinking or just do what you think and feel is best choices for you? I think many countries are mixed on opinion, and people too obviously!

Glad you had a good day kt, and well done to your DS for being well enhanced! Wink It makes everything so much easier and better when they behave well doesn't it! My DHs scan is on the 25th of this month, hope results don't take too long to come back to us.

mrs I think you are right, it will be worth making some phone calls to enquire about private care if nothing else. Also I'm with you on the little monster at bedtime! DD has decided she doesn't want to go bed anymore, and we have tried every technique in the book, but it's still hit and miss. I think this spells the end of daytime nap, we have done pretty well to get this far, she will be 2.7 tomorrow, but I don't feel ready to give up those 2 free hours every afternoon!!! Does your DS still nap during the day?

SwedeAway · 08/06/2014 04:30

Hey Ginger, yes turning out to be a very nice weekend. Lots of family around which is exactly what I like and need right now.

Flight home is not too bad. 11 hours from Joburg to Amsterdam and then 1 and a half hours from Amsterdam to Gothenburg. As long as DD sleeps for the majority of the first flight (which she usually does) we should be ok.

Yep certainly looking forward to some summer!

So excited to get more updates from More!!!

morerum · 08/06/2014 06:36

hey all nothing to report everything has stopped!

mrsm22 · 08/06/2014 07:11

Good morning everyone, we have acquired a new tv for our bedroom, it's far too big really but yesterday my DH insisted it getting set up in our bedroom. Sadly DS loves it so now wants to spend more time sat in our bed watching the big screen (I can see this is not really going to help with getting him in his own room)! DS woke up this morning at 6.20am wanting the tv on so him and me are now sat in bed watching CBeebies while DS has a bot bot (bottle obviously). We are watching Pingu. I'm so tired and could have done with a bit longer sleep. I'm getting so tired lately which must be because I'm hopefully near the end.
Morerum - Like Ginger, I have been constantly checking in since yesterday to see if you've had any developments!! What's happened then? It's a bit confusing if things seem to have stopped but I'm still sure something will happen this weekend. Keep posting so we know and keep positive. I think we are all thinking of you xx
Hi Ginger - very interesting what you say about your DD and the sleeping. My DS will be 2 and a half at the end of this month so only just slightly younger than your DD. What is your pattern with DD, what time does she tend to get up each day, when is her lunch and nap etc and what time do you normally take up to bed? I'm just curious to see what others are doing . My DS usually wakes up between 7am and 8am and has breakfast (at the moment he has toast and sometimes a Banana with orange juice), he won't try cereal yet. Then late morning he has a bottle and usually a sleep late morning which can be anything between 11.30am and 12.30 as he's tired by then. I know that's lunch time really for little ones but he usually sleeps then for an hour and a half to sometimes two hours, then wakes up for lunch which most days he has around 2pm. The problem is I bring him up at 7.30pm most nights for bed or sometimes stretch it to 8pm if I don't think he looks tired but it is taking til between 9.30pm and 10pm to get him to sleep most nights. Last night he didn't go to sleep til 10pm and I was gone myself.
Some days he can wait til after his lunch and fall asleep around 2pm but the problem then is he can nap til nearly 4 and I can't get him to bed a few hours later. It's a difficult one as I thought toddlers were meant to still have a nap until the age of 3. My DH suggested yesterday that we maybe try lose the nap when new baby comes as he might be more likely to go to bed on a night, but I still think he will need that nap at some point in the day. Ginger what do you do? What does everyone else do re the sleep/nap thing?
Is everyone having a good weekend, apart from Morerum who is patiently waiting for something to happen? We didn't do much yesterday as it poured down with rain all day. Today we are going for that meal for my mums bday. It should be nice with my mum and dad, me and DH, my sister and her partner, my DS and my sisters 4 children. My DS loves seeing my sisters children, who are 4, 6, 8 and 10. They all look after my DS and my 6 year old niece is a bit like mother hen with him, she likes to carry him round and always kisses him. She'll be sitting with him making sure he eats today.
Hurry up Morerum - let's get our first baby here safely and happily and soon! It's so exciting eagerly awaiting the news.
Oh Ginger - yes I think I will have the sweep but that won't be this coming weds but the weds after at 40 plus 5. I had one with my DS but it didn't do anything that time, but you never know this time. I just don't find it very pleasant and I feel a bit uncomfortable with a midwife I barely know just going down there and doing what they do. Does that sound stupid, you'd think after giving birth once I'd be fine with anything but I still hate smears and anything invasive.

CallingAllEngels · 08/06/2014 12:19

Hello everyone! Having a lazy day today. Going out to cinema later with 2 friends and dinner. Seems to have cooled down after the scorcher yesterday.

ginger it's great to hear what a lovely month you've had. This time we're with the same mw practice. It's standrad that you see all 4 of them throughout your pg and there haven't been any staffing changes since last time round except someone to cover ML at certain times. So have met all, of them before - one of them delivered DS and one confirmed my last mc. Lovely to deal with people sho know whe we are.

I ignored them and had a glass of wine in Friday night thoug Blush not that I make a habit of it (our fridge is stocked with non-alcholic soft drinks and beer though atm all I seem to want is milk!). I will treat myself to a glass of champagne at my best friend's wedding later in the year though.

Regarding naps, DS dropped his naps the summer before he turned 2 in the summer last year. It was becoming a battle in the afternoon. Sometimes he is tired but I don't let him fall asleep even when he's nodding into his dinner! He will sometimes drop off if in car in afternoon and then he is more difficult to get to bed.

mrsm how ocme oyu are doing all the bed times?

CallingAllEngels · 08/06/2014 12:27

Posted too soon mrsm !

Till DS was 2 I did 6 out of every 7 bedtimes. Partially because it strated that way since I was bf till 6 months. Later because DH couldn't cope with his depression. When he hit 2 and started becoming difficult (which coincided with my last mc) I put my foot down and said no more. I felt like I was taking on so much more to support DH but he wasn't doing the same to me when I needed it.

We agreed to take turns and it was hard, but it sounds like DS isn't settling well sometimes even when you put him to bed so what do you have to lose? At first DH was very quick to ask if I could do his turn because he was tired Hmm but I stood firm and said no...I was tired too! When DS started having huge problems going to sleep or staying bed (he was fine in cot but move to big bed was a disaster) we had to go back to basics. First staying with him, lying on the bed till he fell asleep, then to the chair next to his bed, then end of bed, then by door, then outisde door and evantually closing door and going staright downstairs. Tookmus probably 2 months to get outsidenthe room and ds would call from his bed to make sure we were still there, and another month till we could just say good night and leave.

You're 9 months pg and it sounds like you're still doing most of the work!
