how is everyone? I've only one week till due date and really fed up!
mrs how are things with your sister? xEnvy

Noyoucantwatchpeppapig · 01/06/2014 22:04

Thanks for congratulations Smile due date will be end of jan.

HungryHorace · 02/06/2014 07:19

Congrats, Noyoucant! Excellent news. :-)

Kt, I'm vaguely ready. Just need to pack my bag / get my date and I'll be there!

Better, yes, I meant birth options. Do you have a choice as you're high risk? And are you intolerant to liquid iron too? How long does a transfusion take?

Morerum, poor you. I hope baby comes soon. Will they do a sweep for you?

Hi Winnie, good luck TTC. :-)

mrsm22 · 02/06/2014 07:55

Hi everyone, I hope you've all had a good weekend. It has been really got here especially yesterday.
Noyoucan't - I remember your name. Congratulations! You must be thrilled.
Morerum - how are you and how's the rash? I can't believe you're due on Sunday...eek! Please post as soon as anything happens won't you?! I'll be 39 weeks on Friday this work so hopefully not much longer for me (I hope)! I saw my sister on weds last week and then again on Saturday we all went to my mum and dads and the kids all played together. Feeling much happier that we are friends again and that she will be around when I have my new baby. She's very busy with work but we are texting and speaking a lot too. Don't get me wrong, I don't forgive what she did on my DS's birthday last year but at the end of the day she's my sister and I hope this time things will be different.
Hi Better - how are you doing? If you have a transfusion does it take long and do you have to stay in hospital or can you come out the same day?
Hungry - not long for you til you finish work. Roll on Friday!
Hi Kt - how was your weekend, did you get to the park?
Sadly it's raining here today at the moment but I have to go do a good shop this morning and then see what the rest of the day brings.
I'm a bit worried about my DS not being in his own room when baby comes as baby will be in the cot next to our bed. I hope it's not going to be a nightmare. I have tried again with my DS to get him on his own room but he just won't and is a very self willed little boy. I think it was Kt who said that he will probably want to go in with my new baby when he goes in the nursery so I'm hoping for that. Out of interest, when does everyone plan to put baby number two in their own room? I plan to do it early this time round. I think DH blames me for the reason DS won't sleep in his own room, says I shouldn't have kept bringing him into bed with us but you make mistakes and you learn from them, especially first time round.

SwedeAway · 03/06/2014 06:26

Morning all. Sorry been AWOL lately. Have gone through probably the most difficult 6 days in my pregnancy. So two weeks ago I had to take a blood test (checking for rubella, anemia etc). They also tested my AFP levels (used as a marker for spinal issues). Got the results back on Wednesday last week and my AFP levels were considered high risk. I totally freaked out. I have spent way too much time with Dr. Google to not know what Spida Bifida would mean. My anomaly scan is only on the 12 June but as I am leaving for Sweden on the 19th June, I really did not want to wait until the 12th to find out if something is really wrong because then it would limit my options. There are only two fetal medicine specialist in my province here, each have a waiting list of about 2 months for an appointment. But I got my gyno to call them both and beg for an appointment as I just could not stand not knowing. Got an appointment for yesterday which was a cancellation so really lucky for me (however waiting since Wednesday has been an absolute nightmare). Good news at the scan though, he did a detailed scan of the baby and especially the spine, millimeter for millimeter and he confirmed that there is no risk of Spina Bifida. All in all the baby lookes great, all measurements fine and everything is there that should be there so as far as checking everything he did a great job. The relief was undescribable I tell you. When I got home I went to bed straight away, I was so tired from all the tension and stress. Anyway, it just shows that you can have a high risk blood result for no reason what so ever.

HungryHorace · 03/06/2014 07:48

Oh Swede, how stressful on top of everything else. I'm pleased all is ok for you.

Really not long until you leave now. How are you feeling about it? What was your DH's family's reaction in the end? I know you were concerned about it.

I hope everyone is ok today. :-)

SwedeAway · 03/06/2014 10:08

Hi Hungry - Yes its like 16 days until departure. Feeling very stressed about it but mainly due to the fact that I have about a million things to do and sort out as well as working right up until the day I leave.

DH's family has been amazing actually. They are all very supportive of me and DD which I totally did not expect. My mother in law is actually flying up from Cape Town tomorrow to spend a week with us which will be nice (especially since DD loves being with her so it allows me to rest a bit).

Think it will all come into perspective once I am back in Sweden. I need time out and I need to think about what I want to do and what I want out of my life. I am certainly not relishing the thought of raising two kids on my own and would rather save the family unit if it is possible. Only time will tell what will happen with us but I think a breathing space for everyone is what is required at this stage.

mrsm22 · 03/06/2014 14:17

Hi Swede - So sorry about what you've been through this week and so pleased for you that your baby looks healthy and well. On top of everything you're already going through, you really didn't need that extra worry. I wish you really well for your move and hope everything works out for you.

How is everyone else doing?
Morerum - anything happening with you yet? Only 5 days til your due date.
I'm 38 plus 4 days today. Will feel a lot more real on Friday when I can say just one week to go! Til the due date that is, anyway.

BetterNotBitter · 03/06/2014 16:22

hungry I'm really hoping that as long as things are ok at the next scan (18th) then I'll be signed off high risk and will just be able to go the midwifery led unit for a low risk birth. In which case it's just a normal birth, I'm at no extra risk during labour just during pregnancy. If things aren't ok at the next scan, I'll be scanned weekly with a view to emergency section at any point. 2.5 days left for you!! And a week tomorrow until you know your date!! Wow, these pregnancies have flown over. Do you have a list of stuff you need to get done before baby comes once you're on mat leave?

How are you doing morerum? How's the rash? At least you could literally be any day!!

I'm fine thanks mrs were just trying to get our last bits and pieces done before I get too big. How are you? Might be worth having a big push to get your ds in his room before baby comes, 2 in the same room could be tough if you get a frequent waker of a newborn!! The transfusion itself was just half an hour, but I was in hospital for about 6 hours.

Gosh swede the last thing you needed on top of everything else. So pleased baby looks well. I totally know the feeling, spina bifida was the main concern with mine too because of my coeliacs disease which us why I had to have the high dose of folic acid, they did the same at my anomoly scan at 20 weeks, literally checked each mm. The relief was huge when they said it was ok. We didn't even really dare get excited about the pregnancy until after that. How are you plans progressing for heading back to Sweden? Good news about dhs family and will be lovely for you to have a weeks help from mil as you prepare to leave. Then when you get back you can hopefully relax until baby arrives.

morerum · 03/06/2014 16:23

swede goodness youve had a rough time lately, Thanks glad things are ok with the baby xx
mrs I'm not holding out much hope of going early amd will prob be late I will beg the mw for a sweep on friday.
I've had a lovely day with dd today went to softplay and then the cafe then watched her playing outside was nice having a wee day to ourselves will be very rare soon enough!

morerum · 03/06/2014 16:26

crossed post better lol x
I hope things are ok with youust be quite stressful have loads of test all the time. x
my rash is hellish but as long as I keep taking the pills and using the creams its bearable x

HungryHorace · 03/06/2014 19:21

Swede, that must've been a relief about the inlaws. Makes for a more pleasant departure at least. And leaves the door open should your DH come to his senses.

Morerum, Fx your midwife gives you a sweep this week (or you go before). Was your DD late or early? I hope your rash buggers off.

Better, good luck with your scan. Would be lovely to be able to use the MLU.

And yes, exciting week ahead now with my date and finishing work. Starting to worry about the ELCS now. DD didn't cry when she was born as she was ill. Dreading this baby doing the same as it was horrible. :-( Need to not worry though as the odds are in baby's favour.

winnie1981 · 03/06/2014 21:44

Wow swede, what a tough few days. I remember having a long wait for some test results, it's a horrendous wait x glad all is ok tho x

SwedeAway · 04/06/2014 03:30

Thanks everyone. Yes the wait was horrible, a million thoughts goes through one's head for sure. Found it double difficult with everything else going on but now much better so can start focusing on the move again.

Can't believe so many due dates are approaching, exciting times! I am 21 weeks now so more than half way, yeay! My mum is having baby fever for sure (she missed so much of DD as she was born here so think she is now going to make up for it) and has already bought a pram. I think it's a bit premature but its exactly the pram I wanted so cant help being excited and very grateful. Went through all of DDs baby clothes the other weekend to see what can be reused. Lots of pink stuff so packed a few black bags and gave most things to an orphanage here, lord knows they need it. Still left with quite a bit though which is good. Strange though as I now have to rethink as seasons will be opposite. Instead of having a summer baby he will now be born at the start of winter so will have to equip myself for that. Urgh, haven't experienced a Swedish winter for 16 years and dreading the coldShock.

mrsm22 · 05/06/2014 19:40

Hi ladies, how's everyone doing? I'm 39 weeks tomorrow! I've got the wobble going on when I walk and can't walk very fast anymore, it's getting a bit more uncomfortable now. Took DS to the park today and I was hobbling and wobbling after him like a big pregnant duck. Hope D day comes soon!
Hi Morerum - Any signs?

morerum · 05/06/2014 20:01

mrs nothing to report im afraid Sad Sad

mrsm22 · 05/06/2014 20:22

Not long to go now though Morerum! I'm pretty certain I'll go over my due date again. I was 12 days over with my DS and I reckon this time will be similar. In seeing the midwife next weds and then the weds after I'll be offered a sweep at 40 plus 5. Just deciding whether to have it or not. I don't fancy having the sweep but if it gives you a chance of possibly avoiding induction then I might go for it, although not pleasant at all. What about you?

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 05/06/2014 20:45

Hi everyone, I am back! I have had an amazing couple of weeks taking time out from ttc, not even thinking about any of it at all, and not feeling sad or anything when I saw a pregnant woman or new baby! It has been so nice to not constantly be thinking or fretting about it, and not having to dtd on demand, or worry what day it is, life just went back to normal, having fun with DD and DH. It all ended rather abruptly though on Sunday with the early arrival of AF. Obviously I knew she was coming but I wasn't expecting her to be early and it threw me off guard a bit as we were out for the day! I guess she came early because I stopped taking the B6 this month, so it left me with a 23 day cycle. It threw me right back to thinking about infertility though, my messed up cycles and how it is now time to get back on the horse (so to speak!) after a month off. On top of that a friend has just had a baby girl and her photos are all over fb, she has a little boy aswell who is nearly 2, so the photos of him with his little sister, and their family of 4 has reminded me how badly I do want a baby. It was so much fun having a busy social life and being able to get away and do things, but I would trade it all in in an instant to be able to have a baby. Well that's me back to it now anyway, got DHs SA test at the end of this month, and got my referral letter for gynae appointment, the waiting list is still another 6 months! So I am thinking about booking a private appointment, no idea how much that will cost though.

Cannot believe how close some of you are! Rum you will have your baby so soon! Are you all settled on those names you mentioned a while back? Are you going in for a sweep tomorrow? It will happen soon enough for you and that nasty rash will disappear!!

Mrs so happy for you that you are back on speaking terms with your sister. Shame you had to be the better person about it, I think it would be a similar story with me and my sister if we ever fell out, she is so stubborn and headstrong! Glad you got it all worked out before DS2 comes along, and your parents must feel happier about it. Haha I remember the pregnant wobble! Hope it happens soon for you, are you still taking the rl tablets?

Swede YES to being half way! Amazing! You poor thing having to go through all that with the tests, brilliant news that everything is fine though. Gosh I can't believe how soon it has come round that you will be moving back to Sweden. Will it be a hot summer you will be going in to? Bet DD will love a proper cold winter, especially if it comes with snow!!

Hungry arr last day of work tomorrow!! Woohoo for you! That has flown! Seems to be a bit of a theme to this year...! Will you do anything to celebrate tomorrow night? Or just sleep! Smile Sorry can't remember if you have said, have you been given your ELCS date yet?

Better glad you are ok and everything is going well for you and baby. Hope you get signed off as high risk, that would be a relief I bet. How is DD reacting to your growing bump? How old will she be when DC2 is born?

kt wow only 10 weeks left at work! Yeh! Do you know if you will go back to work after DC2? Hope the sun is still shining for you where you are and you are feeling ok now!

Noyou I remember you too! Many congratulations, that is brilliant!! How long were you trying for in the end? Any special circumstances the month that worked?

Any updates from Engels recently?

Hello to the newbies too, and sorry anyone I have missed! I guess we won't be hearing from windy, she'll be right in the middle of baby land now!

morerum · 05/06/2014 20:48

mrs im 39+5 tomorrow and im gonna beg my mw for a sweep! I need this baby out its killing me spd, sciatica, heartburn, cankles, itchy rash, peeing every 5 minutes im done plus ive really been neglecting dd I feel so bad! I know it's imminent but I just can't wait any longer plus I just wanna see my wee bub x

mrsm22 · 05/06/2014 21:46

Hi Morerum - I know all those feelings, well not the rash that you've sadly had to cope with but I also would like this baby out now and dying to meet him and see what he looks like. I'm only 4 days behind you and I really really don't want to be induced.
Hello Ginger - I was thinking about you thinking you'd be having a whale of a time. I'm so glad you've had a good time out enjoying yourself and enjoying time with your DH and DD too. It's a shame that you've got your AF and that's bound to make you sad and think about things. If it's going to be 6 months on the waiting list to see a gyno, I would look into going private. I saw one after having my DS (she was wonderful) and it isn't as expensive as you think. Sadly you're not in Leeds or I could recommend the gyno I saw (if you want details of who I saw just ask and I can give you her direct number etc, sorry I can't remember how far you are from me). I have private health with my work so luckily didn't have to pay but got a breakdown of all the costs and an appointment to see a gyno, the first initial consultancy appointment where you go have the initial chat with them was less than £200. If I remember correctly it was about £160. I would have paid for it myself if I didn't have the private cover through work, which I pay for monthly (it comes out of my wages before I get paid every month). I can't remember if I said at the beginning of the thread in September but you know I had a difficult and long first birth with my DS, which ended with forceps and bad rear etc. Well I was really worried as I started to need to wee all the time, the feeling never went away and this started at the end of feb 2012. I had DS at the end of December 2011. It was awful, I couldn't go anywhere without needing the loo. It was awful and it got me very down. At first doctors thought it was a water infection but antibiotics didn't work so I decided to go private and see a gyno and she was brilliant. I saw her once and we discussed the birth and my problems and she organised some private physio sessions and gave me loads of help and reassurance. All it turned out to be was over active or irritable bladder caused by traumatic birth, and by June I was back to normal!
Yes I'm pleased about me and my sister. Like yours, mine is very stubborn and self willed too, so yes I still am a bit annoyed that it had to be me who made the first move but at least things are now much better. It's my mums birthday tomorrow so planning on going to see my mum with DS tomorrow to take her present and think my sister is going after school with her kids. Then on Sunday tea time we are all going for a family meal to TGI's, there will be 11 of us. I have organised this as it's mums bday but also because it's been a while since we've all done something together, what with me and my sister.
I'm drinking raspberry tea every day. Did you do that when you were expecting your DD?

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 05/06/2014 23:23

Ah that sounds lovely for your Mums birthday, and how nice for her that you will all be together and getting along on her birthday! Last family gathering before the new addition comes along!!
Yes I had rl tea with DD, think I started drinking one cup a day at around 38 weeks, then increased it the closer, and beyond, I got to 40 weeks. I think it helped me have a quick labour, I went into hospital at 4pm and was 5-6 cm, then DD was born at 7.20pm! In hindsight though that might not have been such a great thing as I too tore very badly, and am still suffering repercussions now.
Thanks for sharing about your gynae experiences, that sounds pretty uncomfortable what you went through, it's crazy the things no one tells you about post-birth and how it can affect your body!
my mum did offer to pay a few months back for an initial consultation with private for me, so I might take her up on that offer now, I thought I would at least get my bloods etc done first with the GP. Do you think it would be worth taking out private health care cover now before I start all this? Would it even cover infertility? Or would it just work on a pay as you go sort of thing? We don't have any spare money so I think I am just dreaming with all of this to be honest!
