The former thread proved full of sadness and most vexatious disappointments, wherefore we know not :(. Therefore the BESH will be donning their empire dresses and enlisting the assistance of Captain Wentworth and his admirable breeches and Mr Darcy smouldering damply in his transparent white shirt both of whom with their pleasing countenances and sound judgements and enormous fortunes, in short both of whom are everything a young man ought to be in the expectation that happier times may be ahead for the BESH.

Yes, I am being chaperoned. There was no way I was doing this one alone. The scan should have been at 9, but due to a massive train cock up (i.e. there are none - how feme appropriate) I am now rescheduled for 11, because when I called they said they couldn't fit me in if I arrived late (irritating as they have kept me waiting for every single appointment). So I am now back at home a very unladylike sweaty nervy mess, having spent half an hour running betwixt train station, cab office and bus stop (was on a bus when I called the clinic-had to get off and walk home). Not the best start to the day.

Ooo, a harpist in our midst. One girl at school played the harp. I was always fascinated.

Hello Bessie, goodness me, what a pleasant surprise! Yes it has been a while, but hey ho, mustn't grumble, stiff upper lip and all that. Hope you're ok and sorry to hear about your mc. Twelve weeks must have been pretty awful :(

Thanks ladies. EmBarryo isn't going to make it. The gestational sac hadn't grown at all (was about half the size it should have been a week ago and it's now 1/3 of the size it should be). The 2mm yolk sac had turned into a teeny weeny 2mm embryo, but it should be 8mm by now. There was still no heartbeat. They said I can carry on the cyclogest and be rescanned in a week, but the most likely outcome is miscarriage. We have talked about it and decided to stop the drugs and just let it happen. Having read the entire internet, I don't think I have ever come across a good outcome with an embie this far behind at this stage. It just seems kinder for all concerned to let it go now.

Despite the news, I'm actually doing ok. I did a lot of crying after last week's scan and sort of grieved then, so I am taking this in my stride at the moment (I am expecting a relapse when the bleeding starts though). Bye bye emBarryo. You were loved and very much wanted.

I'm so sorry Euro Sad Just take things easy and look after yourself.

I've got to go back to the clinic tomorrow morning, I've got one follicle of 14mm and about 12 hovering between 9 and 12 so they don't want to leave me too long. I suspect it will be Trigger Time tomorrow!

Well the icing on the cake is that I now appear to have cystitis. Confused It started feeling a bit ouchy down there about 10 mins after my scan this morning. I think the probe thingummy must have squashed my pipework or something. I am currently necking large amounts of bicarb solution and trying not to vom. Irritatingly, it is not something I am particularly prone to (I have only ever had it 2 or 3 times in my life and the last time was more than a decade ago I think) but I have never managed to shift it without antibiotics. Arsebiscuits.

Rie your message was very touching. I was tempted to flippantly give a virtual moon in response (thereby losing my dignity!), but that would have tainted a lovely message.

Now that would not have been very ladylike and moreover would have been very difficult in an empire line dress.

Sympaffies on the cystitis. It really is the work of Satan.

Faith will be able to advise you on waterworks treatment Euro, but you are right it is a final kick in the teeth.

HWHNN is coming back this evening anyway as the nurse kept emphasising that the more sex we have before Ov the better. All well and good, but sometimes it's logistics!

Ouch cystitis.....what a kick in the crotch euro. I would be running off to the GP for some antibiotics as I've never been able to knock urine infections on the head without them. Take a wee sample with you. Avoid cranberry juice because its acidic and can actually make symptoms worse.

Report
ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 07/03/2013 18:18

Water. Lots and lots and lots of water.

Why are we advised to drink cranberry juice if it is acidic and makes the wee hurt more?

Exactly rierie. Medical consensus is that cranberry might help prevent urine infections (although the research of recent times had put that into question) but its been picked up and interpreted as 'drinking cranberry juice when you have a UTI'. Snot true!

bugs thanks for the tips. I actually stocked up on towels and painkillers a week ago because I had quite severe cramps after the first bad scan, but didn't end up bleeding. I really hope I can manage to do it naturally. I've already emailed my acu lady to see if there is anything she can do to help.

Sorry to hear about the sore fanoir. What do you think it could be?

faif the timing is really bad because I'd like to see if I can kick it tomorrow. It has eased off a bit since the bicarb but is still there mildly. But if I wait I doubt I'll be able to get a gold dust Saturday appt so it would be a completely miserable weekend. Hmmm.
