Any older mums ttc (late 30s)?

I was just wondering how many of the ttc people were in their late 30s or 40s.

I am 38 and started ttc this year. It would be nice if we could support each other.

I was at a meeting today and was speaking to a fellow colleague who I had just met. We got onto the subject of children. She was 40yo when she married her husband who is younger than she. They decided to start trying for a baby straight away and nothing happened so they tried IVF treatment for a couple of years. Again nothing happened. By this time she was 45yo and they decided to adopt. They were well into the adoption process when she discovered, at age 46yo, that she had fallen pregnant naturally! She gave birth to a healthy baby boy. He is now 5yo and and the joy of her life. She gave up her career (city accountant)to be with him and has taken a part-time job now that he is at school.

I thought I would share that because it really made my day and I felt overjoyed for her. Don't give up ladies.

Thanks Speedymama. Need all the good stories I can hear. x

Hello to all- its been 3 months since I was on on this site, 3 months of false hope and false alarms, but for the second time this year (mc in May) I have a BFN at nearly 43! Nicola 63 , Sideways, Evenhope ( belated congrats by the way how are you doing??) and Anghtase (keep the faith , girl!)I hope you are all doing fine and keeping positive...here is another positive affirmer that you can conceive at our age. This time round , I am trying not to shout it from the roof tops like I did the last- my husband doesn't even know and I am going to try and keep it from him for as long as I possibly can, until well after the nuchal scan. He said that if anything happens again like last time he said that this would be it and we wouldn't try again , so if anything does happen this time , if he doesn't know - I am in with a chance to try again. Though I don't know how many times I could put myself through the heart ache... so many strong women do. Well I am wishing my life away to get past these first few months, fingers crossed everything remains sticky , good luck to everyone else. (¸.·´ .·´

Sorry to confuse - have changed my name. Angsthase was confusing for most folk anyway!

K1K2 - you meant a BFP, right??!!

Just to let you know I too got a BFP and am now 6w+3. At the ripe old age of 39. I too had an missed mc in May.

I got a scan on Tuesday as there was some spotting freaking me out and there was a heartbeat. I have another one in 3 weeks. The EPU at the Royal in London just rock.

I saw on another thread today that Nicola is having an ERPC today. Very

sideways · 07/10/2006 09:55

Juicylucythe2nd · 10/10/2006 13:35

Have just posted my stats on the May 2006 antinatal thread and I'm the oldest.

Now slightly depressed...

sideways · 10/10/2006 13:42

Juicy, don't let that worry you! Doesn't really matter that you are the oldest.

If I ever get my bfp, I am sure I will be the oldest on the antenatal thread too

I'm not sure if I qualify for late 30's, am 36! Assume so. Anyway, question for you. This would have been my 3rd round of trying (would say three months but my periods are 35 days long at least!) and have missed a period. However, not sure I could be pregnant coz AF was due beg. last week, didn't BD since 17th Sept and instead of AF beg. last week got brown slimy stuff (TMI sorry!) I personally think that I BD too long ago for this missed period to be because I'm pregnant, I thought it could be due to the stress of ttc that's doing it. Now, I think I've come down with virus, coz I felt nauseous on Fri, now bloated, pains down below, breathless, feel like someone's punched me in stomatch! Plus got lots and lots and lots of white / clear discharge. Do you think I could still be pregnant??! Or am I just ill?! Sorry for long msg...

PizPizPiz · 10/10/2006 14:49

Frothy, did you bd just before ov ? The brown slimy stuff could be implantation spotting. I'd advise you to test right now.

Frothycoffeegirl · 10/10/2006 14:54

I love your optimism! But I tested twice yesterday, and nothing... also, I tried using those ov. kits, used more than I should just in case I ov. early but no + signs at all! Must have used so many of those sticks. It got me down so much that I stopped, right after what I thought was my ov. time (ending on around 17 Sept). Got really really sore boobs on 21 Sept, then that was it, no AF, just... yucky brown stuff for a couple of days. Do you think I should leave it for a couple of days and test again? Or am I too far after BDing to be pregnant?

PizPizPiz · 10/10/2006 15:05

I always get sore boobs the day after ov, so you might have ov on 20th Sept, after you stopped testing. If your last bding was 3 days before that, you could still have fallen pg if your CM was of good quality. I would keep testing for another week and then go to gp if you still feel funny and keep getting negatives.
Yes, I'm a hopeless optimist and proud of it

Frothycoffeegirl · 10/10/2006 15:07

Thanks Piz, you're a star, I need a lot of optimism at the moment!

PizPizPiz · 10/10/2006 15:12
Smile
Frothycoffeegirl · 10/10/2006 18:19

Well now I can hardly walk for long, it's really sore 'down there' and I feel so under the weather. Has anyone heard of an infection that has these symptoms??

Juicylucythe2nd · 11/10/2006 09:34

Don't recognise the symtoms Frothy - I'd start a thread - either here or on health and see if anyone can help.

Hope you feel better soon x

PizPizPiz · 11/10/2006 11:08

Go to your gp frothy, it sounds a bit worrying.

Frothycoffeegirl · 11/10/2006 12:13

Thanks, didn't have a look at your kind messages until this morning but went to GP this morning, she was pretty sure it's a virus going round. It's just a cruel coincidence that I felt sick, had a bloated feeling, was sore 'down there' and missed a period!! My body playing nasty tricks on me. I'm certainly not pregnant, took so many tests, was due early / mid last week and still no positive. So back to the drawing board... hope you're all feeling well!

PizPizPiz · 11/10/2006 14:10

At least you know what's going on now frothy. Take care of yourself.

lemonstartree · 12/10/2006 16:33

OMG ........ day 26 ( I think) and a BFP !!!!!!!!!

I am so excited , but trying not to be as I have had 4 misc in the past ( also have 3 gorgeous boys) I am 41 and cant say we have been trying hard - we did in the first part of this year but nothing happened so I'd kind of given up>>>>>>>

Juicylucythe2nd · 13/10/2006 08:47

CONGRATULATIONS Piz and Lemoen

Wow - 2 on the same day! Hurrah. Cool. That means you're both June girls, right?

Well, I shall be seeing you on the June antinatal thread. My due date is 29th May, but chances are it will be a June baby and I know more people on that thread anyway, so it feels like my spiritual home and I'm the old on the May thread

lemonstartree · 13/10/2006 08:59

Wow Piz ! congratulations

when is your due date ?

I have no idea when my LMP is - how pathetic is that!! some time mid september !!!! which would make me due end of June IF everything is ok. Dont want to count my chickens.

How ols are you Juicy Lucy ? are we going to make up the core of oldies on the June thread ??

sideways · 13/10/2006 09:11
