About to start TTC#2 - does anyone want to come along for the ride?

Hi there,

So, DD is going to be 3 in June and I'm going to be 38 two weeks later. About a year ago I wanted a 2nd DC but DH didn't. I then changed my mind at Xmas.

DH has now changed his mind and persuaded me so finally we're in agreement and ready to go.

CD1 is due this week and then we can start.

Is anyone else ready to TTC#2?

No action here lately, both myself DH are just so shattered and busy with work. I know we need to make more of an effort in the coming months.....

Anyway, can someone please explain the skittles thing to me?!

thehomesecretary · 26/04/2012 07:49

artura- I'm on fertility friend too but still have the VIP package. Was wondering the same thing. What features do you lose if you just have the free version?

aday- last month I ov'd on CS18 so might be a few days behind you- but who knows what will happen this month!

Adayforthinking · 26/04/2012 11:30

Atura and Secretary, I only had the basic features on FF and DD is here to confirm that it still worked for me!! Grin

Eclair, apparently skittles give you lots of energy and are often used in place of RedBull to keep you awake!! Smile I occasionally have to drive a 360 mile round trip in a day, with a full day of meetings in between and either RedBull or Skittles on the journey home keeps me awake.

Well, looks like Saturday night is going to be our starting point for this month. DH and I are going to buy a nice piece of steak (he's having rubbish steak every night on this special diet he's doing so I said we'd splash out and get a nice piece and both have it) and have a bottle of wine. Who knows, maybe I'll get right back into it and be happy to DTD every night for a week. Hopefully it'll bring us a bit closer... who knows... Hmm

Any plans (other than DTD) for the weekend ladies?!!

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 12:04

we DTD this morning and will do it again when DP gets home from work. Grin

lastboxoftampons · 26/04/2012 13:38

adayGrin at your DH being a self-reliever! I kind of wish mine was! It's probably great for his swimmers. And to think there would've been a time when I would've been insulted Wink here' to steak and Wine enjoy your evening Smile DH is coming here on Saturday, so looking forward to being able to put DS to bed and just walk out of the house (obviously leaving him with my parents)! Lots of yummy dinners in our future! Plus DH has a few interviews while he's here so fingers crossed he gets an offer. I've been in the UK for 8 years and while I enjoy it, I miss home and my family desperately.

something ah, that's the difference then - DH and I are old and rickety Grin he turns the big 4-0 this year.

Thanks artura I guess an egg could implant despite the spotting, and cause a surge of hormones & make everything go in the opposite direction? But prob not likely. Am feeling horrible still with this cold and had a super high temp at 7:30 this morning though up with DS from 4 to 5 Hmm so between that and illness I don't think it means much. I'm only 6dpo so too early for symptom spotting anyway. As for NY, it's nice tobe with my family, plus DS is so happy to be here, loving hanging out with my parents and his cousins, so I'm getting a bit of a break. The flight isn't too bad. DS has done it about 9 times so he's an old pro and a really good flyer. He's just not the type of kid to fall asleep just anywhere at the best of times.

I think I paid for FF one month when TTC DS and the features were really conducive to symptom spotting insanity nice but DH would kill me if he knew paying for it this time is not in line with my zen attitude Wink

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 14:21

my DP is 21 and im a few years younger im the baby of the other thread im on and no doubt the baby of this one! Grin

Adayforthinking · 26/04/2012 14:50

Ahhhh Something, you are definitely the baby of the thread!! I turn 38 in June! I'm the old girl - LOL! Grin

Wow something maybe one of us could adopt you instead if we don't get pg soon GrinWink I'll be 36 in September, so right there behind you aday. I really wish I had children when I was younger but timing wise things worked out differently. I was 27 when we got married, and we were moving countries, trying to find a job, trying to buy a house, etc. in the end we didn't start until I was 31 and by the time DS was born, I was about 6 weeks off being 33. I guess it all happens when it happens for a reason, but in my perfect world I would've had 2, 2 years apart by the time I was 32 or so. Plans, eh? Grin

Adayforthinking · 26/04/2012 16:08

Lastbox, I'm not adopting Something if she's going to DTD on my nice sofa!!! Grin Grin Although it is leather, easily wipeable...

I know what you mean about plans. I was first engaged on my 21st birthday. To think, if I'd have stayed with him I'd have a whole brood by now. I would also be earning a crap wage, have terrible inlaws and no life. But the alternative hasn't been a bed of roses either. My heart was broken many times (once actually by DH about 8 years before we met again and finally settled down) and all I wanted was to settle down and have a family.

Eventually though, at 31 I met DH again at someone's wedding and we got back together. We married in the April before I turned 34 and had DD in the June just before I turned 35. But like you, I would have had them much later given the choice.

So Something never underestimate how lucky you are to have found Mr Right so young, it's what lots of people dream of. Smile

HI Everyone, cirkey it been busy around here over the last few days.

Im 37, met DP when I was 33, before then I had a pretty disastrous lovelife and I had totally resigned myself to being a cat lady with 8 cats and knit them special coats. I think I would have preferred to start a bit younger but all my friends are still at it so I don't feel too old really. Just worry about my aged eggs. And the sleep, old girls need more sleep!

I've got the trail of the VIP. is that feature good last? I love symptom spotting! I was convinced I was up the duff last month, but no joy.
Good luck with those job interviews for your DH.

Im working freelance at the moment Aday, doing financial research and reports. I did a sales job but it was a lot of travelling and not good with sprogs. Just thinking about having no maternity benefits though and wondering if I should be looking for a job quickly.

We are all off to a caravan this weekend, nice weather for it! Will have to try and have it orf at some point as well, and we have to tonight. Need skittles.

StoneBaby · 26/04/2012 19:25

I'm 33. Meet DH 10 years ago. I was 31 yo minus 7 days when DS was born.

I've just taken my 1st pill of folic acid for that ttc Smile My GP only gave me a prescription for 28 days! Hello, I think I need more! next time I'll nag him for at least 6 months

Good luck with your week aday

pickles fx it'll be good weather.

lastbox I'm an expat too. I'm from France but live in the Channel Islands

PipIsOutNow · 26/04/2012 20:08

Hello girlies can I join!!!!

I have DS who is 2 in July and I'm very excited that a very reluctant DH has agreed (tonight) that we can try for another!!! Yay!!! So excited!!!

Sooooo, I'm on CD3 ha!!! Early days yet. Never used OPKs but invested in some already. I came off the pill in January and ever since I have had very random cycles. Last one was 36 days, this one was 32. So I'm guessing OV will be around CD18 ish? Maybe later? Wondering when to start using the OPK? And when to start shagging? Just in case of course :o

I am PMSL at shagging on PIL sofa too!!! I love it when it's somewhere different!! Defo more exciting. May try and seduce DH this weekend on the sofa. Get some SFF in before I start turning into a mental headcase!!!

Incidentally, I am off on hols 10th May and according to a fertility calculator on here that's when I can expect to OV!!! DH will be on hols too but so wil DSD and DS!! Hmm Will have to partake in secret SWI!!!

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 20:30

I met my DP at just turned 17 and had my DS 3 months after i turned 18. we got engaged on the 1st of april this year and our moving into our first home together on tuesday. everynight i fall asleep in his arms and wake up still in his arms. everyone thinks were cute Hmm Grin

meh in real life i am actually adopted Grin so am open to the idea of one of you lot adopting me Grin though if you think a baby is hard you wont want a teenager. especially of the female variety Grin

the most adventurous place weve DTD has to be the beach Blush Grin

lastboxoftampons · 26/04/2012 21:15

Those of you who freelance/work from home, are your LO's in nursery? I've just gotten a pt job, just two days a week, and I'm meant to start when we get back to London. DS is going to nursery. I've felt really strongly about being home with him until this point but I think now a bit of separation will be good for us. Wink I'm just slightly worried about him because he went to nursery for a few weeks at the beginning of March because I had jury service and he hated it. I actually think he was mellowing at the end but it was a difficult two weeks, not only were the drop offs hard but he was waking at night, very clingy, etc. hopefully he'll be okay this time. I think twice a week rather than every day will make a difference. And really, he's supposed to start pre-school in September anyway so he has to get used to the idea.

Ooh, you're right about Something, aday our sofa is only Ikea but it's upholstered! Grin

Pickles I'm with you on the sleep front! As for the FF VIP features, I'm not going to lie, they're fun! You can overlay charts and search other people's charts that show the same symptoms and patterns and whether they turned out to be pg or not, etc. good times Grin Fx the weather holds out for you this weekend.

Stone how long have you been in the UK? Do you make it home often? I get here about three times a year with DS. Lat summer I worked at my old job in NYC for 7 weeks and I stayed for 5 weeks over Christmas so DS is very used to being here and spending time with my family.

Hello Pip Smile welcome.

Something you do sound cute Smile as for adventurous DTD, we're members of the mile high club Blush

somethingwittynot · 26/04/2012 21:27

the PILS sofa is leather so wipe clean ;) grrrr dont you hate competitive parenting and when people just bullshit about what their baby can do? knobs.

StoneBaby · 26/04/2012 21:32

lastbox it's now 10 years that I live in Guernsey. We go to France once or twice a year but my mum comes every 2 months for a week or a long weekend. I would leave my DS at nursery on a pt basis if I was to work pt as I think the social side of it, is important (but it's me and some people may not share my views). I work ft and DS is at nursery ft.

pickles35 · 26/04/2012 21:53

witty - you are really cute!

lastbox - he is in nursery, there is no way at all I could work with him at home. the second I look at a computer he crawls over and starts smashing the keys, even though a second ago he was playing happily. Personally, I think its nice for him as he hasn't got any other children at home, he loves nursery his eyes light up when we go and they genuinely seem to love him. Its around the corner and nice to know I can go and get him whenever I want and hes not too far away. My friends baby is the biggest mummies boy ever and he has just started nursery and settled in within days.

Im well in there with the charts, do you temp? i want too but haven't bothered so far, but I really want something else to analyse. Or else a spit microscope!

Pip - I would start quite early this month just in case, I use cheapy ones and then double check with a clearblue digital one to be sure. Im on CD 19 and no sign yet!

Stone - can you please cross ALL of your fingers? Entertaining a 1 year old and a 36 year old big baby in the pissing rain in a caravan is not appealing!

lovemylittleone · 26/04/2012 23:02

This is becoming quite a busy little thread!! I too am laughing at the PIL sofa image. I have been with my DH since I was 18 (am 31 now) so I'm pretty sure we have DTD on both sets of parent's sofas at some point :)

I was just wondering if any of you have changed your diets/lifestyle much since making the decision to try for # 2?

pickles35 · 26/04/2012 23:56

We should have a prize for the first bfp. Prehaps some nice wipe clean sofa covers... Grin

somethingwittynot · 27/04/2012 08:25

pickles can we fix it so i can get me one of them? Wink when we move were gunna have 8 rooms to christen instead of one room at the PILS and their sofa. DP suggested we tried their bed out Hmm

PipIsOutNow · 27/04/2012 09:01

When is early pickles ? I'm on CD 4 now AF has buggered off thank god the evil witch!!! From CD 10? Xxx

thehomesecretary · 27/04/2012 10:37

DS was actually conceived on my parents sofa- DH keeps saying if we have no luck soon we will have to resort to the 'couch of fertility'!

I work ft and DS is in nursery, he loves it, but I hate not seeing him and am looking forward to taking a career break if/when we have DC2.

lovemylittleone re. diet/lifestyle change, When we started trying in Jan I gave up alcohol, caffeine, started taking folic acid and omega 3... unfortunately I haven't kept it up...maybe it would improve my chances if I did!

somethingwittynot · 27/04/2012 19:55

awful day today. recived a message from a fucking physco on fb threatning my baby with death. spent most of the afternoon with the police Sad

Adayforthinking · 27/04/2012 20:13

OMG Something, who on earth would do that??????!!!!!! Are you ok hun?! That's terrible. If I was you, I would close your fb account for a while... do you really need it?

I hope you're ok hun. Xx
