About to start TTC#2 - does anyone want to come along for the ride?

Hi there,

So, DD is going to be 3 in June and I'm going to be 38 two weeks later. About a year ago I wanted a 2nd DC but DH didn't. I then changed my mind at Xmas.

DH has now changed his mind and persuaded me so finally we're in agreement and ready to go.

CD1 is due this week and then we can start.

Is anyone else ready to TTC#2?

Morning all,

We've got a few people heading into shagweek I think haven't we? I'm on CD7 but I seem to be having some strange cramps - I really hope that I'm not OVing early because of coming off the pill, maybe I just need the loo Wink. I've only been back on the pill for 4 months since having DD nearly 3 years ago so I hope it wouldn't have gone too much into my system anyway...

I've decided that I will symptom spot, but I won't test until I'm at least a week past my AF due date, simply because my first MC was at 5 weeks so I like to get past that date before testing, just in case... Sad I know it's a mental thing as opposed to a physical thing, but it makes the first few weeks easier for me.

DD was up at 6am this morning - I normally get up at that time and come down and start work, but it is nice to have the first hour to myself - I almost feel invaded when she gets up too! LOL

Right off to get her some cereal and then get her ready for School.

Back later peeps... xx

im due to OV on the 27th having DS has brought my wacky irregular periods to bang on time 28 day cycles good for baby making! Grin

Adayforthinking · 24/04/2012 09:43

Something, I'm guessing you're in full swing then? Wink

lovemylittleone · 24/04/2012 10:13

Can I join? My DD is 3 and we are on 1st cycle of TTC number 2! Has taken a while for us to feel ready as similar to some of you I had a traumatic birth resulting in a 4th degree tear and then back in to theatre afterwards. Consequently I've been told I will need a ELCS next time which I'm actually quite pleased about.

Any of you had the Mirena coil previously? I just had mine out 2 weeks ago so not sure if that might cause a bit of a delay.

Good luck!!

somethingwittynot · 24/04/2012 11:14

all we even DTD on the PILs sofa this morning Wink

welcome love i had a crash c-section and horrific recovery but am aiming for a VBAC

pickles35 · 24/04/2012 15:05

I agree need to start shag week in earnest. Attempt last night ended in failure as we were so tired. DS up all night so after the hen weekend and not much sleep over the weekend I am like a broken woman. I feel like I am going to start seeing things soon.

Good luck with your shag weeks everyone, I think we are going to have another pop when he gets in from work but I dont fancy our chances much.

Its probably a good idea to wait until after AF is due isnt it. Drives me mad though, Ive got a stash of cheapie internet tests and I dont think I will be able to control myself.

do you work from home Aday? I do, its bad though as without someone breathing down my neck when im tired like this its so hard to get any motivation.

Weve decided to try after DP gets in from work about 7. Id rather pluck a chicken to be honest though. Gah!

Adayforthinking · 24/04/2012 20:50

Pickle, I do work from home yes and like you, I'm really struggling to motivate myself at the moment.

I'm not holding out much hope for us this month, Dh and i aren't even talking at the moment. Having said that, its only cd7 and I don't normally ov until cd16 so I've got a bit of time.

Hope everyone else is ok.

OP posts:
BobblesAndClips · 24/04/2012 21:15

pickles hope it goes better tonight, it is so hard to find the energy and enthusiasm when you're both knackered. To be honest, this is the first month I feel like we've given it a proper shot and that's only if I ov'd when I thought, any later than that and there's no chance. So I already have my hopes pinned on the CBFM next month, probably too much really. Hey ho.

hi Cheeky, any more symptoms, cake induced or otherwise? Grin I'm due from the 2nd too, keep telling myself I'll wait til Friday to test but there's no chance of that, I'm an early tester with no willpower

something Shock at PIL's sofa! That's dedication for you.

Aday there is still time to start talking again and hopefully the rest will follow, don't write this month off already. Hope you get things sorted out.

Anyway, good luck to those of you approaching and in shag week already, lots of positive thoughts!

Chores to do now, boo, so back tomorrow, night all

Artura · 24/04/2012 22:09

Evening ladies,

Just got in from a late shift at work. Shattered, and was up at 5.20am with DD. Thank goodness I've passed shag week so no need for "romantic" duties tonight!

Something - were PIL in at the time? Well done you!

Checking fertility friend, it looks like I'll be due on 30th/1st. Have decided I'll wait a week before testing though. Currently feeling grumpy and knackered, is this PMT or just knackeredness? Who knows. Anyone else in 2WW with suspicious symptoms yet?

pickles35 · 24/04/2012 23:00

The PIL sofa action is hard core, you deserve a good result after that!

I am thinking of getting the monitor Bobbles have you been using it long or just starting? I just think I want a new thing to wee on, makes me feel like I am doing something.

Managed it tonight, quite pleased as we were soooo tired.

Good luck Aday hope you sort things out, good you have a little time before O day.

lastboxoftampons · 25/04/2012 02:16

Hi everyone - i am feeling incredibly miserable and sorry for myself. Flew to NY (where I'm from) with DS yesterday to visit my parents. DS didn't sleep much on the plane and not well last night either. Then up at 6am Hmm so am shattered and also seem to be developing a sinus infection :( also FF has given me a possible o date but I'm not sure I'm convinced with the temps. So I'm either 5dpo with well-timed shagging or 3dpo with little chance this month. Either way I had some spotting either 2dpo or day of ov and then some more today after particularly strenuous BM BlushBlushBlush sorry that was way TMI!!! But it all means that my cycle is just so wacky and that testing is in order I think. I have had a lot of spotting in past but on the two cycles I've been pg, no spotting at all so I'm counting myself out this month and going to see the gap when we're back in London.

Sorry for the incredible pity post but I don't think I've even retained anything to comment on!

...except of course PIL sofa sex! Well done something!! Grin

Hope you're all well xx

lastboxoftampons · 25/04/2012 02:19

Oops meant testing to determine hormonal (im)balance and GP not gap! Stupid autocorrect!

Adayforthinking · 25/04/2012 07:26

Could you have OVd earlier Lastbox? Could you be maybe 7DPO - I had spotting at 7DPO with DD I think if I remember correctly.

Still keeping everything crossed for you hun! Smile x

DH and I sent some silly texts to each other last night (as in silly - ha ha - I was in bed watching a girly film while he was downstairs watching TV) so things will probably be Ok after all. But I think we'll hold off until Saturday when I'll be CD11 and will probably DTD every day for a week which will take me 2 days past when I normally OV, just in case. I tend to see the signs very clearly as my CM is always very heavy, so I notice the EWCM easily. So if I do see the signs that I might be OVing early (what with it being the first month off of the pill, for 4 months) I may bring that day forward.

Don't I sound clinical??!! Luckily for DH, in my last PG with DD I was wanting to DTD A LOT, right up until DD was due. I think he's hoping I'll be the same this time. Although we will wait until 12 weeks, just in case there is a risk of MC.

Hope everyone else is Ok today.

So what do you do from home Pickles? I work for a massive American Bluechip Company and do Workforce Management for one of their biggest UK Accounts. I'm very lucky to work from home - I do get lonely sometimes but the benefits far outweigh the negative aspects.

Lafcadio · 25/04/2012 10:31

Morning Ladies

Can I join you? We have a DS 14mo, and have just started trying for #2. I was really pleased to find this thread as I haven't been on MN for ages and came to remind myself what the ov signs were, and found y'all! I can't believe I've forgotten everything when it was such a big deal about 2 years ago getting pg with DS!

Hope everyone's doing well

somethingwittynot · 25/04/2012 11:39

PILS were out at the time but its the first time weve ever done it on their sofa lol. made me feel like a naughty girl Grin

Adayforthinking · 25/04/2012 13:03

Hey Lafcadio,

Welcome hun! Grin You've joined a lovely friendly group. Hopefully we'll all stay in touch until the last one of us gets a BFP!! Smile

I still have some crazy dillusional idea in my head that I'm going to get PG as soon as I start trying - but I fear I will have a nasty shock...

Something, I don't think I'd have been able to relax - I would have been freaking at every little noise!! LOL Grin

OP posts:
StoneBaby · 25/04/2012 15:08

Can I join?
DS is 2.3yo and I have managed to convince DH that now is a good time to start ttc Grin
I'm still on the pill as I have health issues that I need to sort before stopping it but YES we'll be ttc in a few months. I can't wait.

I have however been prescribed folic acid and it feels like a good start.

1st time, it took me 9 months to become pg, the main reason been that I didn't know that on a 35 days cycle, ovulation was at day 20/21. Now I know so hopefully it may be quicker... Hmm

What's the meaning of bpo? I can't seem to guess find the meaning

Adayforthinking · 25/04/2012 16:14

Stonebaby, of course you can join - welcome hun! Grin Do you mean BFP or DPO? BFP is Big Fat Positive and DPO is Days Past Ovulation (in other words the dreaded/exciting/nerve-wracking 2ww - 2 Week Wait!). Or an excuse to spot bizarre symptoms in the hope that they mean that you've got another bundle of gorgeousness on the way! Grin

I've got a meeting in 15 minutes, how dare they set meetings at the end of my day - it's just not on when I'd rather be on MN! Wink

Laters!!

OP posts:
somethingwittynot · 25/04/2012 16:48

we did end up on the PILS beautiful fluffy rug in the end lol. probably smells like sex now Grin

thehomesecretary · 25/04/2012 16:52

Hello all! Another request to join if you don't mind. We have a 14mo DS and have been TTC #2 since January - although AF only started back (I was still breastfeeding) in Feb after I stopped. Anyway, have just come to the end of my first proper cycle and have gone from being totally chilled about everything to googling 'secondary infertility' buying supplements etc! This process makes me crazy!
DS was a happy surprise so I am new to this TTC lark!
Currently on CD5 so am about to start the whole process again.
Anyway...crossed fingers for BFPs all round this month!

lastboxoftampons · 25/04/2012 19:22

Hello Stonebaby, homesecretary, lafcadio and anyone else who may have joined :)

aday thanks so much for your kind words. I don't think I ovulated any earlier than FF says. If anything it would be later.

As for you and your DH, so glad you're on good terms again! If I were you, I'd start DTD every few nights in the run-up to shag week just to keep his sperm in good condition! My DH had an SA when we were last ttc which showed poor morphology - or as he put it "too many two-headed monsters" - so maybe I'm a bit paranoid about keeping things fresh (I've read studies that say sperm start to deteriorate if a man goes too long without ejaculating) there you go, something else to obsess over Grin

Something I'm PMSL about you and you DH on PIL sofa! We might all have to re-read this thread in our shag weeks to get ourselves in the mood Blush Hee!

Adayforthinking · 25/04/2012 19:50

Thehomesecretary, welcome hun! We're a friendly bunch so come and join in!! I'm only 3 days ahead of you on CD8 so we'll be obessessing around the same time, particulary as I normally OV on CD16! So if you end up being a CD14 OVer, we'll be very close! Grin

Lastbox, I haven't got any worries about sperm, my DH is a once-a-day 'self-reliever' LOL always has been, so if anything, I will need him to stop that so he builds up enough sperm - LOL! Believe me, I don't want to start doing it any earlier than I have to! Grin

Do you know, if you look elsewhere on the Conception thread, there may be a thread called 'First Time Frolickers' or something like that. I started that back in May 2008 when we were thinking about starting to TTC DD!! I can't believe that it's still going, nearly 4 years later!! Of course there's no-one on there now from when I started it. We're all together on a Facebook group instead and have all stayed in touch.

Hopefully this thread will be just as friendly and supportive as the other thread. We went through MCs, problem test results but finally every one of us (except one poor lady whose marriage unfortunately broke down due to the pressure of unsuccessful TTCing), had a DC. We even had a lovely Lesbian couple who purchased 'Euro-Sperm' and went down the Artificial Insemination route and now have a gorgeous DD.

So, hopefully this will bring us all good luck.

Babydust for all. Smile

lastboxoftampons glad to be of amusment! me and DP are young and fresh so are allways in the mood Grin

Artura · 25/04/2012 22:48

Good evening everybody,
Just got in and had to catch up on how everyone is doing.
Welcome to all the latest joiners.

Lastbox please keep hopeful despite the spotting, and hope the sinuses feeling better. How's NY going? Don't envy you with that flight...

ADay you've just given me lots of hope with your post about your last conception thread. I can feel my fertility mental-ness rising as I'm now on 7DPO and I'm going to turn into a frantic symptom spotting internet searching monster very soon. Your post reassured me that these things can take time, and fingers crossed it'll work out ok in the end.

And Something thank you for reminding us that DTD should be a laugh!

Right, off to feed myself some skittles before I jump on DP to stop his sperm growing two heads....

Artura · 25/04/2012 22:53

Actually, just checked and I'm 8DPO. Fertility friend just changed back to the basic model (should I splash out or not on the full version)? Hmmm do I need those extra features....?
