He's a Luddite, he wouldn't know what to do with a picture message ...

Dor I'm so so sorry. I lost my small and dear dog Fred in October after months of illness which we hoped so much he was getting better from but in the end had to decide to put him out of his misery. Every, every day I miss him. I know I should probably tell you time heals but I'm hoping that honesty is better here as it makes you realise how normal it is to feel so much. I thought everyone would think I was stupid for my devastation but people really do understand that it's an awful thing to go through. The first days & weeks though are the hardest and although I shed a small tear on most days, it isn't as unbearable as it was at the beginning. I hope you get through the next few days ok and send you all my sympathy.

FriendofDorothy · 25/02/2012 23:40

Well I have had a lovely night out with my large extended family. It is my twin aunts 70th birthday so this is a second celebration! I do love being with my cousins and most of them didn't rabbit on about their children all night so it was fab all round!

blonderthanred · 26/02/2012 01:56

Delighted to hear it Dor.

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 26/02/2012 09:00

Glad you had a fun night dottie. Sounds fab :)
What are you all up to today? MSB is making me bacon butties and a cuppa...then we're off to church. Going for a run this afternoon. Woke up smiling because it's Sunday and I'm on that course so I'm not in work for two weeks! Painted my nails to celebrate can't have painted nails at work due to infection control happy days. I feel much more positive these days :)

FriendofDorothy · 26/02/2012 09:09

The Mister has just got in from his nightshift so he has gone to bed. I am going to go to church and then it is my niece's first birthday party. I am looking forward to it, but I was desperately hoping that I would be pregnant by her birthday. The fact I am not has made me feel really sad today.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 26/02/2012 09:50

Sorry about that dor. I do the same for family events/weddings- picture myself there, nice flattering dress with neat bump, graciously refusing any more than a sip of champagne... But instead I've ended up barging myself into you girls saloon.

phoenix. V jealous. Not had my nails painted in ages. Last summer maybe? Sigh. And shall cut them back to the quick today. infection control can bite my arse

Saw tiny baybee yesterday. Was v good and v little. Managed to not appear overly hormonal.

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 26/02/2012 09:58

Think I last had painted nails...Christmas? Always plan to do them, rarely see it through but they looked awful. I've been so stressed I've been biting!
dor I know what you mean. Dnephew will be 3 in September...we started ttc when he was 4 months old. Still trying to be optimistic that I might be diffed by his birthday. Enjoy the party.

Morning all, glad you were able to enjoy the party Dor

Nothing exciting for me today. HWHNN is about to head back to base early as there's been a cock-up at work that he needs to deal with Angry. Not his fault, but as senior officer he has to deal with the fall out. It really sucks when stuff like this happens, we get to spend so little time together anyway.

So my afternoon looks like I shall be doing more reading for my next degree assignment: a report on the uses/applications of MS Excel and MS Access for a business Hmm. Deep joy!

FriendofDorothy · 26/02/2012 12:46

My cousin's getting married on the 7th of July and I am desperate to be diffed by then. His cousin on the other side of the family was pregnant with twins last August when I saw her last and I just couldn't bring myself to go and talk to her. How awful is that?

eurochick · 26/02/2012 13:06

Howdy partners!

Isn't it a glorious day? It really feels like spring is on its way thank fuck .

It is KFZK's birthday so I have been up this morning baking CAKE. He requested a chocolate orange cake, so that is what he got. It has turned out very well actually. I have impressed myself. I had never made it before.

Bugs a pound a week or thereabouts is very doable unless you are close to the lower end of healthy BMI. I did it to shed the few pounds I had gained from too much biz travel in the run up to my wedding. I used a site called weightlossresources.com which costs about £10 a month but has an awful lot of branded foods which makes entering cals really easy. I was only half a stone overweight but lost it at the rate I wanted to - a pound a week.

I never get around to painting my nails either. I don't know how some people manage to do it regularly. I do manage to keep my toenails painted though.

I've given up picturing myself diffed at various events. Meh.

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 26/02/2012 18:19

Happy birthday KFKZ!
Yes has been a glorious walk. MSB pulled his back so we opted for a leisurely walk round a local disused quarry. Got some sunshine, had a good chat. Made me feel positive!
Since we got back I've done my ironing and cooked meals for this week. Now if I'm shattered when I get back from my course - it's an hours travel each way all week I can grab the food I've pre-cooked. Domestic goddess, that's me!

bugs don't be surprised if you lose 2 or 3 pounds very quickly and then the loss stops/slows down for a while. This is quite a normal pattern and you will lose more if you stick with it.

We had burfday swoi today. It was nice not to worry about optimal positions, etc for a change!

I am aiming for a pound a week and I am mainly managing it. Not sure I will this week though!

Not to mention it is my niece's 1st birthday tomorrow. I thought I might be pregnant by the time her birthday came around. Fuck it all. I am on such a pity party tonight! And my Darling Mister is on a night shift tonight so he's not even here to look after me. :(

Northey · 26/02/2012 21:02

I wouldn't lost weight eating that amount, bugs. Are you sure you have the app set to weight loss, rather than maintaining current weight?

I'm 5'11", and myfitnesspal (the calorie tracker app I use) says I need to stay within 1200 calories a day in order to lose weight.

OP posts:
PhoenixFromTheFlames · 26/02/2012 22:23

I've lost weight eating that amount along with exercising regularly. If you plan in snacks it helps to avoid eating crap and keeps you going. Eating 1200 calories a day is miserable. Believe me. It cannot be sustained long term. The body will go into starvation mode after one week.
dor you're entitled to a nice weekend. Bet you're shattered and you sound sad. Get yourself some kip, you'll feel a bit better after some shut eye.

Northey · 26/02/2012 22:26

I read somewhere that PCOS makes it sufficiently harder to lose weight that a sufferer needs to eat 10% fewer calories to get the same result as a non-sufferer.

That may be bollocks, of course.

OP posts:
CaveMum · 26/02/2012 22:34

Northey, that would make sense as there is some suggestion that PCOS is related to insulin levels, hence recommendations that you follow a low GI diet.
