How did the appointment go Dor?

FriendofDorothy · 15/02/2012 17:36

It went really well. Lovely Dr. Just really matter of fact and didn't have a go at me about my weight. Didn't expect to have a dildocam though. Ovaries and uterus look fine so that is good news.

Next steps... he wants to check my tubes at the start of next cycle, not quite sure what the procedure is... although I suspect it is going to be on the morning of the day we are due to go to Jersey so I hope I won't feel too unwell afterwards. Then if the tubes are ok he wants me to go on Clomid.

I feel quite positive, at least something is happening!

CaveMum · 15/02/2012 17:49

I'd imagine the tube check is an HSG. It's a bit like a smear test and they flush fluid through your pipe work and X-ray you to see if they can see any blockages.

It's not painful, a tad unpleasant and undignified but nothing more Grin. I went straight back to work after mine.

eurochick · 15/02/2012 17:59

Hurrah Norfy!

Dor I agree with what Cavey said. It's probably an HSG. Ideally you have it between stopping bleeding and ovulation so you don't need to miss a cycle. Does that help with timing?

I felt fine after mine too. I walked the journey home from the hospital (around 15 mins or so).

FriendofDorothy · 15/02/2012 18:29

Yeah that's definitely what it is. He said they like to do it right at the beginning of a cycle, so in about 4 week's time. I suspect he would have done it now as the timing is right but he needs to have a slot in his clinic.

CaveMum · 15/02/2012 18:42

The one thing I will say is don't assume the worst if the scan shows a blocked tube. Mine did and I was very upset. I then had a Laporoscopy (where they put you under a general anaesthetic and stick a camera through your belly button!) which showed no blockages at all. The HSG can cause your tubes to spasm and contract, making it look like a blockage.

Cavey I have heard that a few times about HSG. Hopefully it will be ok but we will wait and see.

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 15/02/2012 19:31

Ah dor I'm so pleased you feel things are moving forward. My Hsg was rather uncomfortable and I think I went into spasm Confused but I am definitely the exception from what I've read on MN
bugs that dinner sounds great. We had homemade burgers :)
I'm so shattered. I'm covering for someone else with one day's notice so I still have stuff planned for my usual job I can't cancel. Exhausted.

Boobs are normal. I've never suffered with sore boobs at any stage in my cycle. Think they're too small to ache Wink

Temperature was still up this morning, so we'll see what it is like in the morning. I normally have 2 or 3 days of falling temps before droid kicks in, so as long as it stays up there is hope!

Yes, not sure I'll ever watch that programme actually...to raw at present, if when I finally do get doffed I would rather go in naive, after I've dropped I'll still find it hard to see other's casual attitude towards baybees and ttc, so I won't then,,,,
cavey if your temp is stil up you're definitely still in the game! When is droid not expected?
The worst of my droid is over now thank goodness. Downgraded pain relief to paracetamol. Anyone else find when droid is in town they find it harder to sleep in same bed as their OH? I'm so flipping fidgety and hot! Poor fella, I know I disturb him!

CaveMum · 15/02/2012 21:38

I find it reassuring actually. I've always been a bit frightened of giving birth, so seeing what actually goes on makes me feel more informed IYSWIM.

Droid is due anytime between Friday and Tuesday! My last two cycles have had luteal phases of 14 and 16 days, so I don't know what'll happen this time! I'm under instruction from the nurses at the fertility clinic to test on Day 42 if no droid, which will be Sunday.

jewelsandbinoculars · 16/02/2012 08:59

dor glad your appt went well. and nice one on the i/v north. here's to a good day, peoples.

CaveMum · 16/02/2012 09:52

Well pardners, temp has dipped a teeny bit this morning (0.2c) but is still above the base line. Cramps have gone away, so who knows what is going on!

I am determined to hold out until the weekend before I pee on anything. Having no piss sticks in the house is truly the way forward! If I had any I'd have peed on them all by now!

eurochick · 16/02/2012 11:22

Cavey I am the same. I used to be terrified of pregnancy and birth. I find reading birth stories and watching OBEM helpful apart from the brutal forceps horror show that was on last week .

0.2 does mean anything either way.

Howdy etc. Well done for not accidentally knocking some piss sticks into your basket in an unnecessary supermarket trip, cavey. It's not long till Sunday. And noone would blame you if you accidentally bought a stick and then accidentally pissed on it on Friday, either.

£2 from Primark is my beach bag rule, bugs. By the way, did you see my thank you for the sweets? I think it may have been a bit vague, so you might not have realised it was meant for you.

I finished them off this morning for a healthy breakfast...
