A new snug for us AC ladies Smile

OP posts:
sunnyg · 13/05/2012 09:44

welcome sarlet and sorry you are feeling so rotten. I'd also echo what the other ladies have said in 1) getting a second opinion and 2) taking it one day at a time. I'm now in the middle of my 1st IVF cycle (2 previous unsuccessful IUIs ) and this cycle has been such a roller coaster, as most are. Less than 10 days ago I was told I wasn't responding well and there was talk of cancelling the cycle. Had EC on Friday and they got 12 eggs. Totally shocked. So never, never give up hope.

badger I too have consumed a large amount of choccy this week. Practially suctioned down a whole block of fruit and nut yesterday. Didn't even touch the sides!

scrummy I am sorry the 2nd sac didn't develop but am so happy to hear you've seen that wonderful hb and are focused on your growing baby. That is wonderful news.

AFM just had call from clinic to say now 3 embies that are all of good quality. Didn't ask about grading, perhaps I should have. Her words were' so far so good'. So will be called tomorrow between 8-8.30am to decide if ET tomorrow (day 3) or pushing off till Wednesday (day 4). Is 3 okay at this stage? Does anyone know if you get a choice between putting 1 or 2 back? I know if you get to day 5 they like to only put one back? Is it up to you or?
I'm 35 next month and this is my first IVF but had 2 failed IUIs.

Enjoy this fabulous sunshine all! oxo

Morning

Thankyou for all of your positive comments.

Sunnyg - that is a brilliant amount of eggs, especially considering they were considering cancelling. Good luck for the next 2 weeks. I hope you are managing to get lots of rest and stress free living. It gives me hope to hear that your story - it seems that this situation isn't too uncommen.

Starting to feel better but worse today (if that's possible). I have begun to have very mild ovary pains / twangs with a very mild sense of pressure in my abdomen sometimes when I sit down. Also getting occasional headaches and nausea. So I'm hoping this means some activity is going on. Its strange that I want to feel ill as I think it is reassuring.

Thanks again Ladies.

sarlat · 13/05/2012 11:40

Maple - Thank you for all your good advice. I am beginning to realise that there is so much I don't know about IVF. I guess ovaries are as individual as the person that owns them and they won't always do what is expected. But that doens't mean they are broken. Thank you for reasuring me about my 9 follices that were seen a few months a go. Your story is amazing Maple. Congratulations on your pregnancy and best of luck for the next few months.

Sarlat x

Keziahhopes · 13/05/2012 13:05

Sunnyg that is great news - very happy for you Smile

Hi and welcome sarlat - great advice and support here. If cycle cannot continue or it is likely to have a low response and you NHS funded then cancelling it means you get to have another cycle NHS funded, which is why they talk about cancelling a cycle. Means can tweak protocol, perhaps do surgery first if needed and then have funded cycle again.

Bugsy - I have low protein C, not S. The gp just ignored it! So at least you have a Gp who is looking into things, so hopefully will say if it is relevant ... if you on immune meds already you may find it is already covered! My protein C was linked to factor v leiden, hence the clexane. Great numbers!! Grin

maplecake · 13/05/2012 19:10

Scrummy that's amazing news about the heartbeat! How many weeks are you? I will be 6 weeks tomorrow and have got another scan but am thinking probably too early for a heartbeat just yet?

Sunny I know everyone holds blasto up as the ideal but many women are successful with 2day transfers so I think a 3 day trf would be absolutely grand. It's brilliant that you've got this far and long may the good luck continue :) Look forward to hearing your next update :)

Bugsy sorry I don't know anything about protein levels. I hope you're not worrying too much?

Sarlat Thank you for the congrats. I know what you mean about wanting to feel ill and to know there's activity going on down there. I hope you're doing ok. Just try and look after and be good to yourself and good luck for your scan tomorrow. Let us know how you get on.

Ladies I know what you mean about the chocolate!! It's the only thing that seems to stop me vomiting during the night - that's my excuse anyway :o

Wishing everyone a happy Sunday eve xxx

Pocket1 · 13/05/2012 21:29

Hi everyone, what a lovely weekend we've had Grin

Badger well done for avoiding google - I drove myself crazy on the 2ww. Not long to otd now, sending positive vibes to you my dear.

Sarlat welcome to the thread. I'm afraid I don?t know enough about your symptoms to give any advice. But I hope your appointment tomorrow helps.

Scrummy how lovely to see that hb Smile

Sunny that all sounds pretty good. Regardless of whether you go for day 3 or day 5 transfer, the best place for them is 'on board' where they will do their thing. go embies go. I was seriously recommended to put just one in for my first round but I am def doing 2 this time (assuming they survive the thaw) given my age (45 Blush) and the previous fail. I believe that ultimately it is your decision regardless of whatever you're recommended by specialists, so just do what feels right for you.

Bugsy sorry I don?t know anything about proteins, did you say you had another appt early this week? Hope you get some info soon to put your mind at rest.

AFM, downreg jab is this Friday, then await AF, then scan etc etc. My accupuncturist has been really fab I'm having weekly sessions now, feel generally much calmer, more positive and ready for it all this time.

Big wave to anyone i've missed.

maplecake · 14/05/2012 13:12

Pocket Great to hear the acupuncture is going so well and so good to hear you're feeling much calmer and positive :)

Well I had my NHS early scan today....and we saw a heartbeat!! This feels like real progress and they've said now the chance of MC drops to 5-10% - although I am trying to banish all such thoughts from my mind. Weirdly, it looks as though it was my left ovary that did the business - which is very strange as all previous IVF scans have shown a VERY inactive left ovary with all the action coming from the right and in the past I've only ever felt ovulation pains on my right side. Not that it matters a jot now - just makes it even more of a miracle.

How is everyone doing? I'm making a very poor attempt to work from home which is very bad news as I have SO much to do but I just don't have the concentration for it at the moment Hmm xxx

BadgerFace · 14/05/2012 14:21

Maple - a heartbeat! That is SO exciting!! Sounds as though the left ovary decided it was time to pick up the slack... Grin

I accidentally got sucked into reading www.twoweekwait.co.uk yesterday which was not overly helpful. Don't think I really have any symptoms so half of me is not expecting much, but then no symptoms can be a symptom apparently... And I did have a weird feeling the day after ET which felt to my uneducated uterus like an embryo burrowing its way into me so the other half of me is expecting my first ever positive HPT...

We shall see!

Better get back to work for now but Monday greetings to everyone.

bugsylugs · 14/05/2012 15:53

maple that is excellent news what are they taking as first day of LMP ?
Badger know what you mean do not go there I had no symptoms.
They have decided to scan me next week Sad not what was agreed 2 weeks ago. They were going to do it on Tues but as appointment at care is on mon pm they are going to do mon am. If we see HB will have to persuade them to do a 9 week scan. Patience and calming thoughts must sort out acupuncture am doing a bit of relaxation and positive visualisation.
Lovely sunny day here enjoyed a beautiful walk.
Positive vibes to all

bugsylugs · 14/05/2012 15:56

Maple re read your posts as thought you said 4/4/12 so that makes you 5 + 5 is that what you get? Mine was 3/4/12 even more I want a scan now Smile

maplecake · 14/05/2012 16:42

Bugsy they're taking 4/4/12 as first day of LMP and according to them I'm 5W5D - although when I've calculated online it puts me at 6 wks today as my cycle is normally 25 days. I'm not quibbling over 2 days!

Sorry to hear about the scan postponement - it will be worth the wait when you see that h.b though :) Good news about all the calming thoughts and positive visualisation. I listened to ZW pregnancy relaxation CD this morning and it really did the trick.

Badger No symptoms may well be a good sign - crossing everything that your little embie has snuggled in very tight. When do you test?

Sarlat How did you get on today?

sunnyg · 14/05/2012 18:59

maple fantastic news about HB. Must be so comforting! Very, very exciting.

Bugsy sorry also to hear about scan postponement. But really glad acupuncture is helping. I've been qoing quite a bit too and also really enjoy it. Got a session booked before and after transfer.

Badger not long now. You have done so well on the bench. I hope I can be as calm as you've been.

sarlet how did you get on today?

pocket thanks for your advice on transfer. Really great you are feeling so calm.

So day 3 here and still got 3! So off to blast Wed! Still so surprised but happy. Was told that seeing all three still good quality (apparently all either grades 1-2, not sure what that means, but think just clinic grading) so on Wed they'll choose the strongest. I guess if I really wanted to I could try and argue for two, although I think that might be tough given that I'm yet to turn 35 (but will do so next month) first IVF and all good quality. I think instead I'll turn my energy to positive thoughts for Wednesday's transfer.

Big wave to everyone else. oxox

maplecake · 14/05/2012 19:31

Woop woop Sunny absolutely fantastic news!!! Roll on Weds! xxx

bugsylugs · 14/05/2012 20:44

Excellent news sunny it is all go on here at the moment

BadgerFace · 15/05/2012 08:48

Great news Sunny!! Good luck for tomorrow. The wee after ET is one of life's best. Grin

I'm due to test in the morning, but am inclined to do it tonight. Would waiting 12 hours really make that much of a difference does anyone know? Would much rather be able to test when I then have an evening to process the results (either way, now starting to freak out a teeny bit about the possiblity of it actually being positive!) than have to head straight off to work...

Hmmmmm.

bugsylugs · 15/05/2012 11:48

Hope everyone is having an ok day. Am now finding it difficult to keep calm and relax and evidence shows it is good foe successful outcome so what if any cd to people use and do you find them helpful. Less nausea today wish I could stop symptom spotting.
badger the problem with testing in the evening is that you wee is less concentrated so more likely to get a correct result. Could you collect your wee in morning and then test in evening I couldn't thinking of you

wellerbabe · 15/05/2012 13:46

Hello everyone. Wow there is lots happening at the moment so good luck to everyone Wink

I got a surprise when I saw the consultant on Friday as my cyst had disappeared and I was instructed to start injecting as soon as I got home. Had to take my box of tricks on an Abba tribute hen weekend but managed to do them on my own without DP! Scan Thu morning to see if I am responding this time so I have everything crossed that my ovaries are in the mood as they weren't having any if it last time!! Angry

Baby dust to all Grin

sunnyg · 15/05/2012 18:04

just a quick one from me to wish you all the best badger for your test. Will be thinking of you. It's a tough decision when to do it. I also know if I do mine coming up before I have to go in for a full day's work I'm not sure how I will be. It's hard to say.

weller great news you have started downregging. Feels good to getting going eh?

bugsy I am using Zita's CD. I find it pretty relaxing. Most times I nod off!

BadgerFace · 15/05/2012 18:17

I think I've mangaged to persuade myself that waiting until the morning is the right thing to do so I don't end up with a false result from not strong enough wee. Guess I'll just go into work late if I need to pull myself together!

Bought a twin pack of tests on my way home, just in case I needed them, even though I was pretty certain I had some. Turns out I had 3 at home. Blush Four spares should be enough, right?!

maplecake · 15/05/2012 18:43

Badger wishing you loads of luck for tomorrow - will be thinking of you.

Weller Fingers crossed your ovaries play ball this time - exciting times!

Bugsy I'm listening to Zita's pregnancy CD. It does the trick for me although like Sunny I too nod off! Apparently it does the job on our subconscious though. I know exactly what you mean about symptom spotting - I've stopped vomiting the last couple of days (although still v nauseous) and therefore get paranoid about what that means. Plus constant knicker watch, are my boobs less tender etc etc. I just have to keep reminding myself that the odds are in our favour and it's all about remaining positive. Hang on in there :)

AFM, well had important work events today - so on my feet for most of the day and had to avoid carrying big heavy bits and pieces to and from venue so looked like I wasn't really pulling my weight Blush
Plus couldn't eat any of the lunch as it was duck liver parfait starter and rare beef followed by chocolate fondant! It's starting to get a bit tricky trying to keep it a secret at work...

xx

bugsylugs · 15/05/2012 19:30

Maple shame to miss that lovely sounding lunch but so worth it. Never mind if they thought you weren't pulling your weight. You can gently remind them / apologise when all is well and you tell.
Badger think it is the best time but so hard with work best of luck
Weller go ovaries go great about cyst

BadgerFace · 16/05/2012 08:11

Thanks for your positive vibes ladies, I managed to hold on until 6am this morning (refused to get out of bed at 5am when I woke up) to test and have my first ever BFP!! I know there's a long way to go yet but it is good to knwo that I can at least get pregnant.

Weller good to hear that your cyst has gone and you are amazing for travelling with your box on tricks and on a hen do no less! Good luck with the scan tomorrow.

sunny hope that everything goes well today.

Maple The food at work thing is so tricky - I had to book an internal lunch lunch for a marketing do on Friday and my initial reaction to the suggestion by our cook was "Yes, parma ham and roquofort salad folled by medium steaks sounds amazing". Then thought about it. Then rang her back to say, actually a green salad and then chicken might be a bit more summery..." What a minefield!

Bugsy I hope you're finding it a bit easier to relax today. Not long now til the scan.

sarlat how are you doing today?

Waves to everyone else!

MiniH · 16/05/2012 09:40

Congratulations badger. fx everything goes smoothly from here.

Whoop whoop sunnyg on going to blasto. Re your earlier question on 1 or 2 they largely seem to let you decide if day 2 or 3 but wiith going to blasto I believe they only do one if under 40. We did two despite being first try and under 35 but clinic was happy to do that as day three transfer. !
Fx for ET.

Nothing to update from me except that ovulation pain post failed ivf is HORRIFIC. Normally I get little twinges but this was worse than when I was taking the meds. Better be producing some top quality egg to justify this pain!!. Still not figured out next steps but am just taking things as they cone for now and enjoying non-bfp indulgences.

Happy sunny Wednesday to all xx

lucylookout · 16/05/2012 10:54

Congratulations badger, what wonderful news!

Scrummy, delighted to hear all the numbers are going in the right direction and how lovely to have seen your bean's hb.

Maple, congratulations to you too. What a lucky thread this is at the moment.

Thinking of everyone cycling or waiting to cycle too. I don't post much but I do check what's going on often.

I'm 30 weeks now and feel like I'm on the home stretch. Don't really have to do much for baby (apart from sort out what's in loft) but do want to move ds into bigger bedroom before baby is born, so am off to John Lewis to choose bunk beds and bedding. Feels like a nice project on such a sunny day.

Hugs to all Smile

wellerbabe · 16/05/2012 11:44
