hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Super ov ladies! Well I had my IUI yesterday at NLC! We thought DH sperm count was low 13 million when we did a test 18 mths ago. Thursday it came out at 123 million. He nearly fell off his chair. He has been taking wellman and a herb called Macca. So my follicle scan with dr gafar at NLC showed 3 - 21mm, 18mm and 12mm. The 12 is prob out but the other 2 he was ok with - uterine lining looked ok so we triggered there and then. 12.30 on thurs and told to come back yesterday. Mr duggs arrived at 1.30 for his "sample" and it was prepared ( they wash and spin it and get best swimmers) and I arrived at 3.30pm legs akimbo and in goes his sperm right into the uterus. Ive started pred and he told me to start the progesterone. I test in 15 days 18 feb. Just b4 our meet up. So it will either be interesting success story or ext step towards IVF for me. If it fails then I know my eggs r not good as the sperm is def there waiting. If eggs no good i need IVF and CGH to find the chromosonally good ones to use. IUI cost £780. Not cheap, but I started dr s programme in sept and been ttc for 2 and half yrs. Just want a baby. Grin anyway thought I'd update you all ladies a little case study.

If IVF is next step - I'd do one more super ov in march and IVF in April 0% credit card calling. Dr gafa used to be head at argc they have amazing success rates but can't see if they do CGH ? Anyone know?

Oh and my exercise regime seems to have fallen off to walk from tube station to desk at work. Shameful. Blush

Ooo that is exciting duggs, fingers crossed for you!
Approx how many times did you have to be scanned pre the IUI and after starting the injections? Panicking about how much time I may need off work (the hospital is nowhere near my work!). Have a lovely weekend.

duggs1976 · 04/02/2012 09:20

Well, as this is my 3rd super ov session, I guess it means I know my response to the letrozole. I'm on 5mg and had scan at 9dpo - 3 follicles - 18mm and 21mm and 12mm - trigger given there and then so literally one scan. Day after we r in for IUI! I know the success rates r low but I am ticking off my list. .

That all happened very quickly! It's good you had 2 ripe follies! The change in your husband's SA is astounding. I have told Mr euro that we are going to try to hunt down some of that today!

duggs1976 · 04/02/2012 10:36

Mr duggs takes high strength Macca you can buy on amazon!! Wink

Pebbles73 · 04/02/2012 11:59

I could get it delivered to Nlc Sue at no delivery charge and collect it when I go for scan or might give Asda a try.

Only just started at the gym again and Zumba class at Xmas so not v fit Snoopy. I tend to be good and go for a few months then when I start ivf stop again for a while.
Talking of meeting up feels a bit weird to meet people have never met but already know the most personal things about me!! :) Is not the kind of thing I would ever normally do!

Duggs I am so excited for you doing iui!! Will be watching this space! Grin
How amazing about DH's sperm count, bet you were really surprised.

duggs1976 · 04/02/2012 16:53

Hey well I'm kind of doing this to re confirm the issue is the quality of my eggs and the best way to deal with that is IVF and CGH. If this doesn't work, next month I'll do a super ov cycle without scan - trip to Vegas for work then if that fails IVF in April. I'm looking into NLC dr gafar as he came from ARGC. I am v interested in te IVF thing mainly because of the peace of mind CGH offers. Especially after my trisomy last march. I'd be interested to hear any of your IVF journey so far pebbles Smile

Hi, all. duggs wow those are great follicle sizes. And that is early in your cycle! CD9?! And you were straight back to have them pumped up there! Well done! No time for messing around! And well done, MrDuggs for producing the goods. My DH also had a good result, and he's rather pleased with himself. So I wonder if that means we're in the same boat, where it's increasingly clear it's my eggs that are the problem? (I already knew that via the amh score!). However, I do think I was on my way this month, and something went wrong, so perhaps there's hope. I've not been sleeping, so I wonder if the stress levels were too much for anything viable!

So it's cycle 5 for me.Got the letrozole for £9.30 at Boots! I'm going to take it as easily as possible over the next few weeks. DH and I have booked a holiday, so I'm afraid I won't be around for the meet up. pebbles, it's weird the first time you meet up with people, and it's a HUGE effort remembering real names, but it takes about 2 minutes to get onto the topics like sperm counts, drug-taking, and then it's just like chatting on a thread but with less time to wait for posts. I haven't met anyone on this thread, but I met free and others on another thread about miscarriage, so we were talking about clotty periods after miscarriage in full earshot of some poor souls who kept looking over at us. In fact, the thread is visiting our first thread baby on Feb 19th, so I'd be double-booked anyway!

Hope you're all having a good weekend. Smile Anyone booked at NLC on Feb 15th? That's my next scan... Who else has a date coming up?

duggs1976 · 04/02/2012 21:13

Jaffa what did dr s say?

OP posts:
eurochick · 04/02/2012 22:07

Maca purchased ;)

I think even the tablet-hating Mr euro was impressed by the increase in your husband's numbers, Duggs!

jaffajiffy · 05/02/2012 08:51

I left a msg for him to ring on Friday. Louise is on annual leave til Tuesday. His letter says I should continue on letrozole if not pg, so I'm on it again and will speak to him hopefully Monday.

Pebbles73 · 05/02/2012 18:05

Please feel free to ask nothing you want to know about ivf Duggs. It generally isn't too bad at all so don't worry.

Oh god Jaffa can see me mixing people up what ith the names on here and real names!! :)

Pebbles73 · 05/02/2012 19:05

Did anyone who is taking metformin find it shortened their cycle? Is my first cycle since mc so not trying but been checking my temp to see if ovulated and I did on day 13 which is really early for me. Normally it is around day 15-19.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 05/02/2012 19:36

Hello. I hope you dont mind me joining.Im not sure if this thread is what im doing buy hey ho!

I'm ttc#2 and have pcos. Have been trying since June 2010. I wasnt having regular periods (over 100 day cycles) so was put on metformin. I had two normal length cycles with late ov and short LP. 7dpo test showed sub optimal results so we are trying clomid to boost ov.

So yes pebbles met shortened my cycle lots!

When is best to time SWI as i took clomid days 2-6 ?? Dr sai days 9-15 but i normally ov around cd24 so guess i should keep going!!

duggs1976 · 05/02/2012 19:52

Yes totally did pebbles. My cycles used to be anywhere between 30 and 34 days ish now they vary between 24 and 26 days. On super ov I am triggering ovritrelle cd9 or 10.

So IVF did it not work for you? How many follicles did u get?

OP posts:
duggs1976 · 05/02/2012 19:53

IZzi what dosage of clomid r u on ?

OP posts:
izzybizzybuzzybees · 05/02/2012 19:55

Hi duggs this is my first clomid cycle so only on 50mg and to get cd21 bloods done.

Pebbles73 · 05/02/2012 22:10

Thanks Izzy and Duggs for the info, was really surprised to ov so early!! Not meant to be trying ths month but inadvertently ended up Avignon sex day before and day of ov!!

Duggs I have had three cycles of ivf. Two cycles I over stimulated (if you have pcos is v common) so embryos had to be frozen meaning that for two f those cycles ended up getting two try's with the frozen. I had tons of follicles last time I did a full stimulating cycle in July, about 50 on one side and 35 on the other. Very uncomfortable and bloated. From those they got 27 eggs which is a lot so had to be frozen. Ideally think you should have around 14 eggs. I have had two bfp's, one two years ago that was a chemical and then another one in September last year that miscarried at around 7wks. Never saw a heartbeat. Makes me feel a little positive as at least I know it can happen. :)

duggs1976 · 06/02/2012 07:03

Oh ok pebbles. So it really is all about quality rather than quantity re your eggs (and mine). Have you read into CGH - array CGH - google it and type in dr sher in california. New life clinic do IVF with array CGH and that is what I believe is the ultimate answer for me. Hopefully the metformin and Femera are helping me ovulate earlier than usual which decreases the chances of our eggs becoming "over ripe". Overipe means aneploid and defective and won't implant or early mc. Getting them out earlier increases the chances of getting a good egg. Failing that - then at least CGH gets the eggs on the table so to speak so a chromosonally good one is selected increasing chance of a live birth. Rates for transferred CGH embryos can reach 80% so I've read.

duggs1976 · 06/02/2012 08:19

Just re read this post and I sound like I am talking to someone who has no idea so sorry for that. Am sure you know all the options, it kind of clarifies in your own head writing it down sometimes!

OP posts:
suemays · 06/02/2012 09:59

Duggs why are you starting the progesterone now rather than at bfp? I have my scan tomorrow eve at my local sonographers as find it hard to get to nlc esp with all the snow! I think I ovd before the hcg shot last month so missed the window by 1 day for swi. Will try and cover all bases this month by swi'ing every other day.
Had an interesting chat with my acupuncturist who told me that chocolate and sweet stuff should be avoided when TTC as it raises insulin in the body which effects estrogen and egg quality. He said if you have pcos it's worse as you already have higher insulin levels.

duggs1976 · 06/02/2012 13:05

Hey yes got told to take prog from IUI - is pretty standard with fertility treatment. Yes I know all about PCOS and chocolate but I still find it difficult to avoid - the metformin helps! Hope all is well
