And so it begins again.....

OP posts:
DizzyKipper · 09/10/2011 07:50

Here you all are! I kept checking the old thread yesterday and telling my OH "they're all really quiet today".

Welcome to the group munkii, although like Scrambled said you've picked the wrong thread if you're expecting a long wait, just by being here you are in fact pregnant already and it won't be long before you get that pee-stick endorsement Wink

Can anyone tell me if it's usual for your temp to go down during the LP? It's the first month I've started temping and it's a bit disconcerting to see my temp decrease the last 2 days after not all that impressive a jump to begin with. I've also noticed by BBT is colder during the day than at night Confused - I decided to take my temp during the day out of curiosity and I'm only around 35, is it normal to be warmer at night than at day?

DizzyKipper · 09/10/2011 07:51

*my, not by

musicalmrs · 09/10/2011 09:05

Scrambled - that recipe sounds delicious! DH and I often have home made popcorn to accompany our movie nights (we have Lovefilm - cheaper than going to the cinema we tell ourselves!). However he likes his plain... so I'll just tip his out when next making it, and add the cocoa, sugar and cinnamon!

In fact, tempted to make some when he's out later, just because it sounds so delicious (and I'm craving sweet things at the moment..!).

Imps7 · 09/10/2011 09:33

Oh my gosh, a whole new thread - I didn't realise until I wrote a long message on the other thread and MN then had the cheek to tell me that it wasn't accepting new messages. Anyway, here's a potted summary:

Yaaaaaay Late! Congratulations my lovely on a well deserved BFP. I have absolutely everything crossed and am Brooking No Argument Whatsoever that this Little One reads the instruction manual properly and gets stuck in and stays there for the next 8 months.

Welcome Shiny! And congratulations on your automatic pregnancy which is your prize for joining the thread. You are positively glowing!

Hope you're all having nice weekends - I did some painting and bread baking yesterday and today we're off for a walk and a pub lunch. Lovely.

PopcornMouse · 09/10/2011 10:17

Generic I'm so glad you've been given the news you wanted! Time to get smacking :o

Late Yaaaaaaaaay! Congratulations :o

Dizzy I think it's the comparison between temperatures taken at the same time of the day that matters, not any fluxuation in a single day iykwim? Maybe someone with more experience can tell you about temps going down post ov, I'm not sure Hmm

According to FF I haven't ovulated yet, I'm CD18 which was my big dip last month. Bit Hmm and Confused that I might be having an anovulatory cycle :( Wine Need to whip out my OPKs at lunchtime methinks

PopcornMouse · 09/10/2011 10:18

munkii I use the cheap-o amazon tests (£6 for 30 iirc) and they work fine for me too :)

CakePigeon · 09/10/2011 10:29

Morning all

popcorn and dizzy are you able to post links to your chart so we can have a good stalk and see what we think?

dizzy that is a bit weird, my temps have always been loads higher during the day but I guess if you're bundled up in duvets etc at night that might explain it?

popcorn maybe you'll just be a day or so late this month?I never ov on exactly the same day I'm not sure if that's a bad thing

Biscuitsandtea · 09/10/2011 12:41

I thought I had lost you all.

My suspicions were raised when I saw there had been no posts for more than 24 hours on the old thread......

Um, can't remember what everyone had written

Late - don't worry about not graduating - I still haven't fully graduated (post on this and the brooking pregnancy thread) and I'm 16 weeks gone on Tuesday :)

Incidentally - here is the link to the brooking thread if Late or anyone else wants to come and visit - we are very friendly :)

And Scarlet is right - the freak out room has been really good and supportive - as Scarlet says, everyone there has suffered m/c in one way or another and everyone has different experiences but it is great to get you through those early weeks so please feel free to pop in :)

shinyblackgrape · 09/10/2011 13:15

Hi all - hope All going well. I'm just recovering from a leeeetle bit too much red wine last night with DH. It's one if the first weekends we've had this year with no wedding planning!

A quick question - is it worth doing the deed the day after ovulation or us it game over pretty much on the day? I've got an iPhone app which has the day if ovulation as the last fertile day. Was a bit surprised as thought the day after would also be a fertile day too

GenericDietCola · 09/10/2011 13:15

Thank goodness I've found you all! Congratulations Late - of course we all knew you were preggo but I'm glad the peestick has endorsed it. We will be brooking no argument that the bean stays put this time until it is well and truly cooked.

Welcome Munkii - you are already pregnant simply by joining the thread, so now we just have to wait for your BFP. Won't be long.

Thanks Little for starting the new thread - it is definitely your turn this month and I'm so chuffed we are cycle buddies again.

I am on day 9, so started the SWI with Conceive Plus this time. A bit messy, but not unpleasant and I'm sure it will do the job now that my womb has been declared fabulous. Thank you everyone for your nice messages on that subject.

Chocolate popcorn sounds yummy! Here are some homemade chocolate cookies to go with it... Oh and I love Mr K French Fancies! Save me a yellow one please.

shinyblackgrape · 09/10/2011 13:25

Good luck Generic! Because I've know you all for at least 24 hours I don't feel the least embarrassed to advise that we had a practice last night with the newly purchased Preseed. Is that similar to conceive plus? We were quite surprised how er slippy it was! hopefully will have the hang of it by next week (the important one!)

I do hope this hasn't put everyone off their French fancies!

Biscuitsandtea · 09/10/2011 13:29

No need for embarrassment here Shiny WinkGrin

I never tried Preseed, or conceive plus (but I think they are similar) but from what I've seen on here a lot of people find they don't need to use as much as the instructions say?

I'm not sure about the day after ov question. I thought it could take up to a day for the egg to journey out, so if it's at the end of the fertile period, it perhaps wouldn't hurt to have a safety bonk - can't do any harm? Wink

shinyblackgrape · 09/10/2011 13:40

I think we definitely won't be using so much again. DH was too nice to say but I'm not sure hiw much of a turn on it was for him when he heard me squelching back from the loo - ready to do the deed!

Definitely will be having a safety bonk!

Biscuitsandtea · 09/10/2011 13:47

Also shiny your iPhone app will just be based on average cycles so you might not even ovulate when the app thinks you will so I'd keep going after the fertile period if I were you. Especially since you're all enthusiastic and newlywed-ish Wink

I reckon you'd be doing well if you were doing every 2-3 days for most of your cycle and up it to most days over the fertile bit.

DizzyKipper · 09/10/2011 14:09

Yeah I've taken temps at the same time each morning for charting purposes - normally at 4am since my body keeps insisting I should wake up at that time Hmm. I am normally quite cold at night, despite keeping close to OH, being surrounded by the dog and cat, having a nice big duvet and also now introducing a blanket - so perhaps that is it? My chart for anyone who wants a nose: Hopefully this'll work I didn't think to start temping until we were getting to the fertile period, so lots of data missing.

Popcorn you might just be running a little late, how many days is your cycle normally?

Shiny I would keep doing the deed throughout your cycle rather than relying on ovulation predictions. I've read a few different answers to how long your egg survives for without being fertilised, some say up to 12hours, some up to 24 - I'd err on the side of caution and presume less. So if you are completely and utterly sure of when you ovulated then the following day probably won't be too much use, but if it's just an app assuming for you based on averages it's best to ignore it and keep it up throughout the cycle. Also me and OH started using preseed for this cycle, even half a tube of it was far too much for us (in fact I didn't tell OH before I put it in, he was a little surprised to say the least Wink). I just use the minimum that I feel is necessary.

Happy rat smacking to Generic. Is conceive plus better than preseed?

Biscuitsandtea · 09/10/2011 14:30

I think I meant what Dizzy said Shiny buy she put it much better Smile

munkiii · 09/10/2011 14:30

Afternoon all
Well I have just ordered my opks, thermometer and preseed online so any advice as to how to use them welcome! last night was the beginning of tic number 2.
I remember reading that you only needed to use a very small amount of the pressed?
It took me 16 months to conceive DD and the doctor already suspects an ovulation, sorry iPad autocorrect........ So have been fast tracked to fertility clinic. We have an appointment in December.

munkiii · 09/10/2011 14:32

TTC obviously..... Although I may end up with a tic by the end of it all!

PopcornMouse · 09/10/2011 16:02

Dizzy & cake my cycle varies between 28 and 31 days, so not overly long considering how late I OV. Here is my chart, I shall dash downstairs and do an OPK now because I forgot to do one earlier www.fertilityfriend.com/home/chartywarty

Shiny I agree with Biscuits - safety bonks are the way forward! If I SWI just on the days the MN app says I should, I for one would miss my fertile window entirely :o

dreamfeeder · 09/10/2011 17:22

shiny, you need to embrace The Shagthon- I think I did 13 out of 15 nights round anywhere near when I could hve been fertile (and am 12 weeks upduffed with twins!!!). I couldn't be certain when or if I'd ovulated (still breastfeeding DD)

shinyblackgrape · 09/10/2011 17:26

Blimey Dream! You must be like the Don round here!

Twins is very exciting! DH and I were noting today that we are putting lots of thought (and effort!) in to the conception (fun?!) bit. However, neither of us are very sure about the "looking after the baby bit". I mean, we have absolutely no experience of looking after babies unsupervised and for more than 24 hours. Twins might finish us of!

I think I ovulate a week on Monday. Annoyingly, I need to go to London this Tuesday (i.e. 6 days before ovulation). However, hoping that wont matter too much!

dreamfeeder · 09/10/2011 17:32

Twins would probably have finished me off for the first ones.... It is daunting enough and plenty hard enough looking after one first time round I found! I'm pleased they're not my first, but 3 under 19 months, and poss under 18 months (with 51% of twins being prem) is also daunting.....

The looking after is very hard but very lovely. As you're on here already you'll be able to get loads of tips too!

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 09/10/2011 18:31

On the Preseed v Conception Plus topic - we got our 2 BFPs after using Conception Plus, nothing with Preseed which we'd tried first (and we only switched because Boots didn't have and Preseed at the vital moment). We didn't use the prescribed amount because it was totally over the top and would have taken ages to mop up afterwards...! Grin

Shiny, keep at it every other day well before & after ov, you just don't know how long your DH's fellas will last, or how long your egg takes to travel once you've laid it... so many variables!

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 09/10/2011 18:44

Imps, I was so sure we would be Bump Buddies after both getting BFPs on our shared cycle (I feel a bit bad that I've had 2 since we've been on these boards and you've yet to get yourself on the score sheet thanks to the evil witch) But you can be a month behind me, that's ok Wink

DizzyKipper · 09/10/2011 18:52

Thanks for that info Late, very interesting - kind of makes me wish I'd gone for Conception Plus now, although since I'll be getting my BFP in a week it doesn't really matter now Grin

Cheers for the chart share Popcorn, I imagine your temp will spike soon and you'll be in the LP.

munkiii I've not used OPKs before but have read that you're looking for the test line to be as dark as the control line to indicate ovulation. And also that some women use it twice a day around when they suspect they'll ovulate so as not to miss it. With the thermometer you're trying to get your body's temperature at rest - so first thing when you wake up after at least 4 hours sleep. Try not to get up/eat/drink before as all of this activity can increase your temp and give an inaccurate reading. Did you get a thermometer that gives a reading to 2 decimal places? Also preseed, I save it for around the fertile timespan since I figure it'll be wasted used too early or late. They come with an applicator that's easy enough to use, you'll probably find 1/4 of the applicator is ample.

Also Dream very impressed with your shagathon efforts! And I thought I'd been doing well.

Shiny I'm also worrying about the actual parenting bit (as weird as this may sound I actually have a bit of a baby phobia - I always get scared I'm going to break them). But MN will help when the baby gets here Smile.

Just had a sharp pain in my right side around my hip and have been having mild cramps earlier in the day. Implantation pains surely?
