And so it begins again.....

GenericDietCola · 22/10/2011 20:23

Hi Munkii or is it DrMunk? Nice to meet you too - holiday was fab thanks. Hope you are doing OK.

scarletfingernail · 22/10/2011 20:29

Welcome back Generic your week away sounds lovely. Can't wait to read your confirmation next week.

Biscuits Sad I hope you're not coming down with something, there are some horrible bugs about at the moment. Good to hear the cramping's stopped.

I'm waiting for DH to get DS settled in bed, then I'm forcing him to watch Strictly with me recorded from earlier. I might even treat myself to half a glass of red wine tonight. Oh how our Saturday nights have changed Grin

GenericDietCola · 22/10/2011 20:35

Hi Scarlet your plans sound lovely to me! We're watching Derren Brown recorded from last night and I'm resisting wine after having had a glass or two each night on hols.

Biscuitsandtea · 22/10/2011 20:43

We're watching Strictly too Smile (while DH manfully polishes my share of the pizza too - taking one for the team there Wink)

Am looking forward to my bed though SmileConfused. Am sure I'll feel better soon, but thank you all for your lovely words xxx

TheLittleFriend · 22/10/2011 21:08

Welcome back Generic

And sorry to hear you're not feeling great biscuits.

Shiney I really understand your need to poas so early. When we were first trying I always did, I think it was a bit of a novelty then. Just don't let the bfn get you down.

Welcome to Beedle too.

OP posts:
ScrambledSmegs · 22/10/2011 23:11

Welcome back Generic. And welcome to the thread, Beedle. You're sure to get that BFP now you're on this thread!

Hope you feel better soon, Biscuits. Being ill sucks. .

So, quick question for the charting\ovulatory experts please. I got EWCM on Saturday, pretty sure I ov'd on Sunday evening, positive OPK on Monday. The crosshair on my chart has now popped up on Wednesday just gone. We managed a couple of times at the weekend but I've had fiery painful cystitis off and on since Monday so no more SWI since then Sad. FF seems to think my fertile days were Sunday to Wednesday. Did we mess up? Am a bit worried.

CakePigeon · 22/10/2011 23:23

generic! glad you're back safe and sound! I like York, I grew up near there. cannot believe you're making us wait until next weekend pfft!

scrambled if you're sure your opk was positive I'd say you ov'd Monday night/ Tuesday so swi on sunday/Monday was perfect timing

BartletForAmerica · 23/10/2011 07:27

Just popping in to say hello and to say I'm still Brooking No Argument for you all here. Welcome to the newbies - look forward to seeing you next week on the ante-natal thread!

DizzyKipper · 23/10/2011 08:10

Hi all, sorry I've not been around much - been so busy and finding it so difficult to keep up with the thread, it moves so fast!

Glad to hear you had a good holiday Generic, but even better to hear that your boob ache has just confirmed preggoness a la Imp's rules, tis always good to get back to good news Grin

shiny I think it's wise your DH now has control of the pee-sticks, testing a whole week early is somewhat eager to say the least lol if you can't resist the compulsion to test early then it's probably better to get cheapos online - I think there's 30 x 10mIU sensitivity ones for around £4 including P&P on ebay.

Popcorn sorry to hear about the temp drop, did it go below the coverline? Want me to give the evil witch what for if she pays you a visit? I've really had enough of her.

Smegs even if you did ov on Weds (and you can't trust FF completely on this) I'm sure there were still plenty of your DH's troopers around to complete their mission - having had the time to get into position and lie in wait. So you'll be fine. But try not to worry too much about what FF says anyway - I'd be more inclined to believe the OPK than FF as I know how much FF can change their estimated ov day.

Congratulations on the normal test results Maybe and Far.

Welcome also to the newbies - it'll be good to see you on the antenatal thread when you get your peestick endorsement Grin

Sorry to anyone I've missed, I know there must be some one and also probably lots of excitement I've missed as well - just finding it so hard to keep up with the thread. Who was our physics expert again? Perhaps you could help design a device to slow down time?

Phew, now really got to tear myself away from the computer. Have to completely blitz the house before starting on a roast dinner as the inlaws are coming round for dinner later. Should be fun but very tiring. Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

PS. The little kipper is still so far so good and we've just reached the 5 week mark Smile

shinyblackgrape · 23/10/2011 08:13

Morning lovelies! I went to sleep last night at 9 so have been up since 6:30am today. I feel like I'm the only person in the world up at the moment!

Not much news here to report. We had a friend visiting last night for a few hours and I had a few glasses of wine. Does this officially make me a "Bad Person"? I'm kind of thinking that, in future, if the brooking doesn't work and there are other 2wws that I'd rather just have a drink during them (within reason of course!) and just act "normally".

Is this OK to do? I have seen on other threads that people have cut down or given up alcohol during the 2ww and some admirable types aren't drinking at all!

shinyblackgrape · 23/10/2011 08:21

Dizzy ! - I was wondering how you were!

I have to confess: DH does have the First Responses. However, he does not have the Amazon cheapies! However, I have managed to resist using them as (obviously too early!) and have convinced myself they wont work anyway at this early stage of the game.

PopcornMouse · 23/10/2011 08:52

Just a quickie from the train, will catch up properly tomorrow!

shiny i drink during my 2ww and i think a lot of us do - ttc is difficult enough without being perpetually sobetrain

AF has arrived, it's all over for popcorn for yet another month. Hello 9th cycle :(

PopcornMouse · 23/10/2011 08:54

sobetrain, that's a new one Mr predictive text Hmm

Stasi · 23/10/2011 09:02

Well, it's back to CD1 for me today. Temp drop and AF :(

I always get bad cramping and backaches too, makes CD1 officially the worst day of the month ever. We have friends coming over for dinner tonight though, so good food and good company will help.

I am officially past the 2 week mark on the wedding countdown. It was two weeks yesterday and I still don't have my shoes, hair, make up, jewellery etc. decided on! So a busy couple of weeks ahead of me, then predicted ov while away on honeymoon, which I'm hoping will be 'our month'. Fingers crossed!

I'm going to go make a big amazon order of conception stuff, get a more accurate thermometer, some of that preseed stuff, and maybe some ovulation tests. Anything else people would recommend?

Generic really hope your boob ache is the sign of good things to come! I had no boob ache this month, and am not pg, therefore since you have boob ache you have to be pg!

Biscuits really hope you're feeling better today. My OH has a tendency to finish off my food when I don't eat it. Always makes me wonder if secretly he's glad I'm feeling off colour... At least he likes my cooking though.

Dizzy congrats on the 5 week mark, when will your first scan be? I've always imagined early pregnancies must feel very strange. You can't feel it or see it, you just know it's there - and other people don't. I can't wait to experience it and see what it's like for myself.

Shiny I wouldn't say you were a bad person at all. There's only so many things in your life you can put on hold 'just in case'. My OH is quite strict about me not drinking in the 2ww (and sometimes the rest of the month too), but I think that's because I've forced him to watch soo many baby documentaries, and the last few have all been about alcohol. As long as you don't over-do it I'm sure everything will be fine.

shinyblackgrape · 23/10/2011 09:17

*Popcorn" - Ach....rubbish. I've decided I'm definitely drinking - you said what I was scared to say but was worried about sounding like a lush!!

We're off to York at the end of November and have some lovely meals out planned. I'm not missing out on the vino for them!

Stasi - how exciting re the wedding!!!!! DH and I just got married 5 weeks ago so still love a bit of wedding chat. I ov'ed on our wedding night I think or the day after. DH was up for consumating the marriage on the night but I was absolutely shattered so we missed out!

Stasi - this month we used Pre-Seed and it was good for internal use but seemed to evaporate very quickly externally. Also, according to DH it seemed to create almost no friction internally which was different So we got some conceive plus (from Boots. It's on amazon though if you want to look) and prefer that

Stasi · 23/10/2011 09:24

We've been using Conceive Plus for a while, just wondered about trying something different. With Preseed being mentioned here I thought I'd give it a shot. Maybe I'll get both though, compare and contrast and all :)

OH won't let me get a digital fertility monitor, and it's unlikely it'll add anything to the CM and BBT tracking I already do. I just wish something could take all the guessing out of this ttc business and make it fool proof!

DrMunkenstein · 23/10/2011 10:07

Ach sorry popcorn and Stasi hope you are ok.

Nice to see you dizzy, has it sunk in yet? Wonder how ninja is?

I drink during the 2ww also, not loads just the odd glass of red.

generic I think achy boobs is a positive sign!

I did my bulk buy on amazon a while ago and I got cheapy OPKs which aree giving me the results I want and also a thermometer to start charting next cycle if this one is unsuccessful. I also bought pressed, but as others have said you only need to use a little bit. I like it, and so does DH.

As for me? Well I shall do an OPK later but as. I have had two days of positives I expect it will be negative. Will be indulging in a few security shags over the next few days so just in case! I can't give you a predicted AF day asa my cycles are so strange. Sorry! I know that's part of the fun. But if no AF by CD40 or so I shall crack open an Internet cheapie.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/10/2011 10:44

I've been married for over 2 years but I still love a bit of wedding chat! Good luck with the last couple of weeks of manic organisation Stasi. Sorry to hear AF turned up (silly hag) but conceiving on your honeymoon sounds PERFECT! it will absolutely be your month this month, so welcome to day 1 of your pregnancy! (For the newbies- your pg progress is counted from the first day of your last period, therefore cd1 is actually week 1 of your pg!)

On the 2ww drinking front, surely it's absolutely impossible for any alcohol in your system to get into the embryo until AFTER implantation?! Between fertilisation and implantation (which is basically the 2ww) there's no direct link between the little bean and your blood stream. So as long as you're not drinking CRAZY amounts, which might throw your cycle off, I imagine drinking at that time is fine? Now in the spirit of full disclosure I should prob admit I didn't drink at all during my last 2ww, even though we were on hol and going out every night. But that's just the choice I felt most comfortable with. Personally I think whatever women choose to get them through the torturous 2ww is absolutely fine!

Sorry to hear AF is also harassing Popcorn. Evil witch. Don't lose faith, your BFP is just around the corner!

possiblemaybebaby · 23/10/2011 11:47

Morning all!

Welcome newbies, you will all be pregnant by default, just by joining this thread Smile

Popcorn what a bitch she is. Though, welcome to day 2 of your pregnancy Smile

How has the various baking been going this weekend?

How id DD Dream? Much better I hope.

I drink during the 2ww. Just a few glasses of vino, not crazy on the shots, but it is true, bean doesn't take anything from your bloodstream for a while. Even my midwife friend told me to get drunk and it will happen, so, if it is from the horse's mouth..... Grin

DrMunkenstein · 23/10/2011 11:48

Can I ask a question?

OPK positive AGAIN today? Surely three days in a row a bit strange?

NinjaChipmunk · 23/10/2011 11:50

Morning! Feel like I haven't been on MN in an age! Life seems v busy this week and next. We are currently without any central heating until at least thursday and also had a temporary blip with our hot water. Plus we've been going to primary school open days for DS. Oh and my work moved offices last week.
Really sorry to hear AF got you popcorn and stasi thats sucks. She just doens't get the message sometimes does she?
generic nice to see you back and glad you had lovely hols.
I'm doing well, still no really symptoms of anything except possibly thirst and wind (still) but I'm only 4+2 so I'm not really surprised. Think I'll leave off calling the MW to book in till end of the week, it still feels a bit early. Mind you either it's coincided with me putting on weight or I'm already stretching in some ways as my jeans are too tight! I think maybe i may have just eaten too much recently.
Right, I'm off to start a spreadsheet to compare and contrast primary schools (gulp) and to organise a casserole and take DS into town to see Captain Barnacles from the Octonauts at the bookshop. Busy day ahead!

Will try to pop back on later!

possiblemaybebaby · 23/10/2011 11:52

Ninja you are superwoman Grin

Generic I completely forgot, how are you? Welcome back! How was your holibobs?

Munk How many DPO did you think you were?

DrMunkenstein · 23/10/2011 12:02

Not a clue maybe that's the trouble...

Have a good day Ninja glad the little one is settling in nicely!

possiblemaybebaby · 23/10/2011 12:04

Hmm. Have you considered a pg test? Could have been that your body may have geared up to ov, then changed its mind and ov'd later?

DrMunkenstein · 23/10/2011 12:10

Again, not sure! I had AF start 1st October, so definitely not pg... Far too early! My shortest cycle ever was 26 days.

!?!?
