And so it begins again.....

OP posts:
DizzyKipper · 10/10/2011 17:35

I used to test a LOT before I first got pregnant, and actually when I got my BFP tested 4/5 days early and proceeded to test another 5 times just to make sure. After the MC I never tested at all and would wait for AF to come by, which she inevitably did. I guess I'm getting more excited about it now as I'm finding it very difficult to wait.

musicalmrs · 10/10/2011 18:32

dream, love the kettle in the microwave! Made me laugh out loud earlier - alongside scarlet's gravy story, making my colleagues think I'm even more batty than they previously thought...

Thanks for the flu jab reminders. I was going to get one anyway this year, as working in 6 schools is definitely a germy cocktail of disaster! Will book it for half term though, so I can suffer the after effects at home...

Dizzy, would also advocate waiting! I never bothered to test until a while after AF was due. With the exception of the month I got updiffed, but that was testing 8days after AF was expected, mainly because she was suspiciously light and fleeting!

dreamfeeder · 10/10/2011 19:08

Hello,

I am SO perky having not vommed since this morning, oh the bliss.

Yes, flu jabs for preggo ladies. There's a thread on here about 'Is anyone else not having the flu jab?' in the pregnancy section, and a medical consultant and a couple of doctors have posted on some of their expereinces of pregnant patiens wth the flu, all wildly unpleasant- up to intensive care level ill, plus one poor MN-er who didn't have it, got really bad flu and her baby died in utero... So sad. I literally read it and picked up the phone!! Arm fine now, so no side effects for me apart from mild arm ache for a few hours, but seriously nothing to fuss about. unless i wake up tomorrow with a sore arm

dizzy, I'm a waiter- AF 6 or 7 days late. I assumed that was why my test was so strongly positive, twins never crossed my mind (I'm SO EXCITED about twins I can't even describe it). i'd say Monday I'm afraid!!!

NinjaChipmunk · 10/10/2011 19:17

dream you need one of the netmums style tickers

Dreamfeeder**

10 hours since I lasted vommed*

TheLittleFriend · 10/10/2011 19:20

Fingers crossed for whenever you do test dizzy

And I hope you don't notice any clomid side effects solars

Musical how are you getting on now, has the bleeding stopped?

Now Generic tbh I have no idea when my egg will pop! If my cycle is 24 days again like last month then I guess it will be early (maybe even around now, but no ewcm at the moment). However, as I think my problem is a short lp, I might ovulate at a more average 14 days. Then just fingers crossed a quick implantation. Sigh. It's a minefield this ttc isn't it! Anyway, we'll definitely both confirm in time for halloween, deal?

dreamfeeder · 10/10/2011 19:24

Ninja, laughing out loud like a fool at that, love it!!! I might have checked when I'll be at the 'viable' stage of 24 weeks- 29th December, HOW will I cope til then?!?

Hoping all ok solars

Waiting for your BFP little

And has anyone seen have recently? Is she Brooking elsewhere?

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 19:27

I think have is not officially brooking at the moment (I've been secretly brooking for her though) - she has popped up on the infertility thread a bit but is sort of semi not ttc at the moment until her DH's prolactin thing gets sorted.

GenericDietCola · 10/10/2011 19:51

Solars I forgot to say well done on the surprise party too - it must have been really exciting planning it all and seeing his face!

Dizzy definitely don't test. You are pregnant, no doubt, but the pee sticks are notoriously hard to convince until later on. After using up all my internet cheapies over the last few cycles I am now resisting until AF is properly late as getting BFN is so hard and you just end up convincing yourself that it was too early and testing again anyway.

Little I think we have similarly short LPs - no sign of anything here either and my last three cycles have been 26, 23 and 26 days. This month our eggs will pop and Just Fertilise and implant in record quick time and we will get our BFPs in time for Hallowe'en (yay!). So There. I hope you are listening AF.

Ninja love the ticker!

shinyblackgrape · 10/10/2011 19:56

Evening All!

Not much news to report here. Got a bit over excited with the delivery of the ovulations stick things and have used two already even though I've not reached the correct testing day. A bit of practise can't go amiss though!

Am starting my folic acid tomorrow too - on your recommendations.

Preseed - we are definitely using less next time DH said he had never felt anything like it. I'm not sure he meant that entirely enthusiastically!

Dream - delighted to hear about the lack of vomming today. Long may that continue!

Dizzy - I've got everything crossed for you! I didn't realise it was possible to test pre period being free. A whole new world is opening up......! I can see Amazon having a dedicated driver to service my orders!

Biscuits - I think I may be one of the manic testers . Any tips for not apart from not buying any tests and sitting on my hands?!

shinyblackgrape · 10/10/2011 19:59

Solars - sorry! I meant to say that really pleased to hear that the party went well. I had one last year for DH and it was sooo much work but so worth it!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 20:01

Ah Shiny I'm afraid my only real reason for not testing early was the thought that it wasn't likely to be positive (it took us 19 mths this time around so the excitement had worn off). And with DS I never tested early because I don't think I realised you could.

I love MN dearly but I do think it makes you want to test earlier because you discuss it more :)

shinyblackgrape · 10/10/2011 20:10

Sooooooooooooooooo..............................how early can one test then?! Grin

munkiii · 10/10/2011 20:20

Nothing to report here ladies, my amazon packages have been dispatched and I found myself eyeing up maternity clothes in mothercare today while looking for a dress for DD.

Lovely to read about all the pg ladies progress, I had the flu jab last year when pg and had a sore arm for a while.

Hope everybody else well, and that plans for sticks end in lines!

Oh and I have a jaunty egg cup that I pee into!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 20:20

Right Shiny,

munkiii · 10/10/2011 20:21

4-5 days I think Solars

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 20:24

Oh, and yes, as munkii says you can test 4-5 days before af due but the earlier you test the more likely a false negative would be. I think the First Response test says it can detect a pg from 6 days before your period is due, but then I think their stats are they still only get say 50% of them or something. So in 50% of cases it would still give a false negative.

Doesn't stop a lotta lotta people testing early though :)

munkiii · 10/10/2011 20:33

My first degree was embryology and I couldn't have put all that better than Biscuits! Grin

GenericDietCola · 10/10/2011 20:35

Listen to Biscuits she is the voice of reason! Please try not to test early - you will drive yourself mad and false negatives are very common unless you wait until AF is due.

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 20:38

Grin Munkii - why thank you Smile

TheLittleFriend · 10/10/2011 21:06

wow munkii do you really have a degree in embryology? You might regret telling us that - you will have the answers to all our questions!!

OP posts:
munkiii · 10/10/2011 21:07

Grin yes, DH made me all my textbooks away when I was pg with DD!

NinjaChipmunk · 10/10/2011 21:08

indeed you are biscuits that was very well put!

tell me how I can make the next week and a half go quickly so I can find out i have a bfp??

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 21:08

I note Munkii that that was your first degree? What is / are the other(s)?

NinjaChipmunk · 10/10/2011 21:09

munkii what a cool thing to do a degree in!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 21:12

Incidentally I have a Maths degree if anyone has any burning pure Maths questions? Please note this does not include arithmetic, which I am awful at.

But anything else, do fire away Smile

No one? Really?

Hmm Ninja, how to while away a week and a half? TV? A boxset of something? I've has season 3 of the mentalist dispatched today, that'll while away a few hours! Definitely need something exciting planned for the weekend coming up Smile
