Thanks for that kipper I feel sorry for my postman when the huge parcel arrives!

DizzyKipper · 09/10/2011 19:15

You might also want to check out this site munkiii, it has lots of useful advice

Biscuitsandtea · 09/10/2011 19:30

Dizzy we've had loads of BFPs on this thread that have used Preseed too so I'm sure one or the other might do the trick for you. I forget who had been using preseed but I'm sure someone clevererererer will be along to put me straight?

Also Dizzy, Shiny I really wouldn't worry too much about the looking after the baby part - i mean obviously you do need to look after the baby when it comes but I had literally zero experience of children when we had DS. I mean ZERO experience. We have no nieces or nephews. I had a few friends with babies but not living that close so I perhaps saw them very occasionally. And then I would have a terrified 'cuddle' with the baby where I was absolutely scared stiff until eventually they cried and went back to their mummy! Neither DH or I had ever changed a nappy when we had DS - but we knew we wanted a baby. Shiny if you've looked after a baby on your own for 24 hours you are streets ahead of where we were! But we knew we wanted a family and figured that the practical operational stuff would come along in time!

And it has. DS is now 3 and I think we're doing OK! Between books, ante natal classes, plus the friends we made at our ante natal classes and now things like MN (although I've only been on MN since June so muddled along without it mostly!) you'll get loads of info. So much of childcare is knowing your child too, so you can't prepare for that really until your child comes along.

That's what I reckon anyway.

Oh, and I'm 15 weeks pregnant and v v nervous about having a newborn again. It seems like such a long time ago and I can't remember what to do with them. You get used to a toddler being able to walk and talk etc and express what they want, and being able to stand and sit on their own and I am bit nervous about a 'floppy' newborn again, but if I figured it out from zero knowledge once I reckon it must be a little bit easier the second time around as it must be brining something back? Perhaps?

dreamfeeder · 09/10/2011 20:14

dizzy, me AND bartlet on this thread both got our BFP (and my twins) first month of preseed. I rate it!! We used about a 1/4 to a 1/3 of the amount recommended.

The looking after does just come. People kept saying 'The baby needs a routine' and I'd think yeah, but what?! How often is this baby meant to want boob, how many naps does she need, and for how long, and am I 'ruining' future 'good' sleep patterns by walking her to sleep in a sling for 9 months (it didn't, she's fine now- until her recent/current up-in-night for hours bad patch- but all the books said that the sling-walking would indeed mean I'd do it forever!!!)

biscuits, we need a freak-out thread for general use I think. I don't feel justified on yours after one early mc at 5 weeks before DD when my fears are more about a twin pregnancy now, but I'm so busy worrying about something going wrong I don't have time to worry about the TWO newborns yet... And I can't stop worrying!!

Biscuitsandtea · 09/10/2011 20:20

Agreed Dream - you get loads of good advice that just totally contradicts the one thing you find that works for your child. I think though that in general there is no right answer not even my mother's. And that's an important lesson!

As long as you're not doing anything harmful or neglectful then most things are ok. You worry whether A or B is better in a particular situation but probably there is no better answer, they're just different. Smile

dreamfeeder · 09/10/2011 20:37

I worried about whether I was doing the right thing til the cows came home re:feeding, sleeping (esp my walking to sleep problems where she'd sleep no other way), but EVERYONE told me not to turn to Gina Ford. I had a sneaky peak at The Baby Whisperer when I was given a copy and The No Cry Sleep Solution but nothing was 'perfect' for my family, and a lot of them reinforced my worry I was doing the wrong thing. I don't think i was, as DD naps in her cot, goes to sleep in it by herself at night, seems generally happy and is thriving weight-wise.... Sadly, there really is no manual!

CakePigeon · 09/10/2011 20:49

My DH looks after children for a living so our DC will be fine I just worry about being out-parented by super dad here! Hmm

popcorn this cycle seems totally different to your last one but your temps seem a bit all over the place so it's hard to tell - keep shagging I reckon!

munkiii · 09/10/2011 21:16

Thanks for the advice regarding my box of deliveries.

I had never changed a nappy, or winded a baby or changed their clothes before DD came along. But I agree, you do just get on with it don't you? We muddled through, DD has health issues which made everything much more difficult, and it continues to be that way.

We will all be brilliant, whether this is the first, second or second AND third for Dream. And I am brooking no argument.

Ooh get me, my first brooking!

I am also replenishing the French Fancies as we speak....

DizzyKipper · 10/10/2011 07:16

Good and bad news for me.
Landlords have agreed we can go 3 weeks without paying to take out the deposit, that's along with the 3 weeks they've already said can be rent free. So that's something. We still need to be looking at raising at least another K though. Bad news is temp has gone down again, still above the cover but only just. Suspecting I may have progesterone issues - which was also what I suspected caused the MC. Time will tell - tis my bday tomorrow so would it be wise to PIAR?

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 07:19

Dizzy good news on the house front Smile

How many dpo are you? I don't know a lot about temping though sorry Sad

DizzyKipper · 10/10/2011 07:22

FF thinks I'm 5, however it's missing a lot of data and just putting a few estimated in would change me to 7 (which I think is more likely).

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 07:29

Ah probs too early to PIAR then even if tomorrow is 8dpo. No point in giving the pee sticks the chance to get the upper hand, although we all know you are clearly updiffed Smile

Happy birthday for tomorrow - are you doing something lovely? xx

PopcornMouse · 10/10/2011 08:24

Omg, I thought my lack of baby know-how was my dirty little secret, I didn't realise so many people are inexperienced when they have kids :o I, too, have literally never changed a nappy. I have held a baby once, and cried the whole time. An even dirtier little secret is that I actually find babies kind of thoroughly boring. If we could skip the first 6-12 months I'd be a very happy camper.

Cheers cake! It spiked today so I reckon I'm probably now LP. I honestly think I had an implantation dip 11DPO (CD29) in my last cycle but it was just too late for the bean to settle in, so it's taken ages for my temps to drop to what they were pre-OV last month. -OPK yest so assume I just missed it when I was working Saturday. panic about anovulation over, I'm not fretting we didn't squeeze in enough SWI :o

PopcornMouse · 10/10/2011 08:25

I should clarify, the baby cried the whole time, not me. I loved it :o

NinjaChipmunk · 10/10/2011 08:41

Here you all are! I thought I'd lost you all. Hello munkii and welcome back properly.
Will be back later as currently on phone on the bus and typing not easy!

farfallarocks · 10/10/2011 08:55

Morning all, just popping to say HUGE congrats for late I dreamt you had got a BFP and low and behold......

Welcome to the newbies!

GenericDietCola · 10/10/2011 09:35

Morning all.

Don't know what the difference is between Conceive Plus and Preseed but I just went with CP because it is cheaper and I am tight. Now I've had my scan though and am brooking no argument for this month, I'm sure it is immaterial.

Day 10 now, just waiting for eggy and smacking lots of rats in the meantime.

Solars · 10/10/2011 09:36

Mornin' ladies, i've found you, phew, was worried for a moment.

Welcome Munkii

Sorry i've not been around a huge deal lately, RL has been getting a little busy. I've been organising a surprise party for DH, which I'm so pleased to say went down really well yesterday and the poor guy was thoroughly shocked, have to say I never thought I had it in me to lie so professionally, he never had an inkling and i've been organising it for a couple of months!

Have to say I don't temp so can't really help you ladies with the charts unfortunately.

I'm going to need your advice ladies on what you count as CD1 here as it crucial to taking my clomid tablets. Sorry for tmi! Yesterday evening I had brown spotting and blood on wiping but no real flow, this morning I am in full flow (grrr!). So was wondering which day you take as CD1, yesterday or today? The clomid tablets need to be taken from day 2 to 6 so i'm not sure when to start them. DH was saying I should take CD1 as yesterday, although he's a medic his speciality is head & neck, complete other end! I was thinking of taking the tablets in the evenings as supposedly if I do suffer from any of the scary side effects listed they would have less of an effect overnight whilst sleeping, so not sure whether I should start them this evening? Confused

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 09:49

Solars I always thought that CD1 was counted as when you were in full flow. Could you perhaps phone the clinic and ask them?

Tricky one though granted! I vaguely recall something about taking the clomid in the evenings too - isn't it in case you get the nausea etc (was that the side effect?) so you could sleep it off?

If it is possible though to phone the clinic I would just explain what you've had and see what they say?

Solars · 10/10/2011 09:57

Biscuits that is what I thought and I would have counted today as CD1 but just wanted to make sure and when DH said yesterday I started to get confused. I have tried ringing the clinic but they are only open Tuesday to Friday from 1pm to 5pm!!!! I guess I could try ringing my GP. But thank you :)

Solars · 10/10/2011 10:05

Yes Biscuits nausea is one of the side effects, which I'm not too worried about but others include blurring of vision, spots or flashes before the eyes!!!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 10:08

eeek on the side effects! Definitely best to be in bed for that one!

How frustrating that the clinic is only open Tuesday - Friday and only in the afternoon - very annoying!

Is there a thread on here about clomidy people? I thought I had seen one somewhere? I wonder if they would know.....

PopcornMouse · 10/10/2011 10:09

solars I agree with Biscuits - spotting doens't count as AF, so count from today (FF always re-starts the cycle with proper light/medium/heavy flow, but not "spotting") :)

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 10:11

There is a clomid thread here - maybe worth an ask?

Solars · 10/10/2011 10:14

Thank you Biscuits I will ask on that thread. I'm Inclined to agree with you too Popcorn...
