Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Great news about the scan Fishandjam, that's great and has hopefully helped to put your mind at rest at least a little bit.
Digi - so glad your scan went well too, wonderful news!
Sorry I didn't answer your question before now, confu3ed, just realised! My 13 week scan (which is tomorrow - eek!) isn't my first, I had one at 8 weeks too. All was well then so fingers crossed things are still progressing well. I'm feeling very nervous about it, but kind of looking forward to it too. x

Twittwooo · 24/11/2011 18:26

Meant to add, I fell this morning as I got out of bed in the dark so I've been worrying all day that something has happened. I have a big bruise under my bottom both otherwise feel okay! So glad the scan is tomorrow, otherwise the mentalling would be awful.

LAF77 · 24/11/2011 19:29

What happy news limeflower really happy for you. There's definitely no need to break the bank! We were married in a registry office, on New Year's Eve in Woodbridge, Suffolk and there was just our parents and my sister there. I wore a dress from H&M. It was very simple and basic, but very intimate. We are still together, nearly 9 years on.

fishandjam glad to hear that things are going well after the scan.

twitwoo thinking of you tomorrow, well done for 13 weeks! I'm sure that if you fell on your backside, the baby will be OK. There is plenty of fluid around the baby to cushion any falls.

Welcome jezza I think that if you can plead your case for a scan at 8 weeks, that is a good move. 6 weeks can be early and prove to be inconclusive, even when everything is OK.

LimeFlower · 24/11/2011 21:44

Thanks LAF I'm thinking about registry office and then lunch/dinner or something like that.Still plenty of time to organize stuff.
Anyway ladies, wishing you nice uneventful (bumpwise) weekend and will catch you next week as I won't have much time to spend on here in the next few days.
Take care of yourselves and your bumps :)

Twittwooo · 24/11/2011 21:58

Limeflower, I don't know how I missed your news but congratulations! How exciting. Low key is much nicer I think, you can tailor the day to yourselves a bit more and make it more personal. Looking forward to hearing all about it! x

confu3ed · 25/11/2011 19:43

Thanks Laf wow is the % really that high? I read it can be 70-90% but I am still terrified, really terrified!

Congratulations Jezza, I would hassle your doctor. I have been really lucky as I have only had 2 concurrent miscarriages but 3 in total, yet the EPU took me on as soon as my GP called, I reitorated my concerns to him and so the referral was easy. The EPU have been great too already had 2 scans and I am only around 6.5 weeks. I have another one in 2 weeks too. I am 35 so that may have swung it?!

OMG Lime that is so amazing! Big time congratulations :)

Congratuations on the scan Fishand that is great news!

Twittwooo I hope that the scan went well. x

Twittwooo · 26/11/2011 08:26

Morning everyone. I'm pleased to say that the scan went well yesterday! The sonographer put me at 13+2, which is a few days further on than we thought, and everything was looking good. Baby was quite sleepy, but we did get to see a bit of jumping. The lovely sonographer kept bumping my tummy to get the baby to move into a better pose, so in the end we got 6 different photographs in various positions!

I was exhausted last night, so although we had planned to phone people with the news we haven't done that yet - will do it today. I'm starting to feel a bit nervous about telling work .. it all seems so much more real now but I'm very happy!

Hope everyone is doing well. xx

whenskiesaregrey · 26/11/2011 20:40

Hello, can I join. I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant after a mmc in Sept. Driving myself insane. Currently lay in bed as I'm having low pains and convinced worse case scenerio every time. Been having weekly hcg at at last check (at 6 +3ish) is measured 37000, doubling every 72. Would love to speak to people who understand the insanity!

Haleana · 26/11/2011 22:57

Hi everyone. I'm new to this thread.

I had my second pregnancy which miscarried about six weeks ago at about the fifth week of pregnancy. Without even meaning to, I managed to get pregnant almost immediately and according to one of the many due date calculators online, I am approximately five weeks pregnant now! Of course I'm basing this on the last 'bleed' which for me was the miscarriage so I'm not really sure whether that counts... And naturally I'm completely freaking out that I'm in the fifth week again which is when I lost the last one. Totally spinning here. Not sure how to feel but I know I'm terrified of going through it again. Checking knickers ALL THE TIME!!!

LadyMaybe · 27/11/2011 06:09

hi ladies, happy Sunday!

It's been so long since I've posted, I'm having to catch up all over the place! Very sorry to hear the news about Ivy's loss.

Freelancegirl Congratulations! I have everything crossed for you, I used to lurk on the pred thread and saw you're on a different treatment. Fingers crossed it works out this time.

Confu3ed and FishandJam yay yay for the good early scans! time will go, one day at a time, and with a bit of luck the next scan will be just as good.

Twittwoo great news about the 13 weeks scan too, lovely.

LimeFlower WOW!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! dum, dum de dum. Dum, dum, de dum.... Fantastic news. And a whole lot to take your mind of stuff now Grin yup, the 'Sod it' line got repeated to myself several times too. There is something awful, terrible but liberating at just acknowledging that you can do what you can, but beyond that, it's still out of your hands whether it works out or not. Oh, and I've been married for 2 years and still don't have an engagement ring Smile - we bought a house, travelled, etc. One day a sparkly ring will appear but I'm not in any hurry for it. Oh and we had a 'high tea' for ours - champagne, lovely dainty sandwiches little cakes etc, lots of flowers, was early spring so lovely time for it.

Digi woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you made it!!!!!!!! oh my god. I feel like I've been tailing you around the conception and miscarriage boards for the last 2 years. I am so thrilled to see you graduate and hoping desperately that I get to follow you on to the grads.

Welcome to Jezza, greyskies and haleana lovely to see you joining the thread and congratulations on your pregnancies. It's not an easy journey by any stretch of the imagination, but the support here helps, for sure.

JezzaJ9 · 28/11/2011 10:34

Thanks all, I just got a letter over the weekend telling me I had a MW appoint on the 16th of December and that I will receive a scan letter soon - its all changed since my last one, so I am on the phone to them today - fingers crossed they will let me have a scan in the next couple of weeks.

Haleana · 29/11/2011 20:36

Jezza Really? I just phoned and told my doctor's surgery I was pregnant and made an appointment with the MW for a couple of weeks time. Didn't get any letter about the appointment or scan... Hmmm. Maybe it depends on where you are in the world! Congratulations though!

LadyMayBe Thank you for the welcome.

I am still freaking out every time I wee. Not sure whether to laugh or cry sometimes. Can't wait for the twelfth week so I can feel a little excited about this.

Haleana · 29/11/2011 20:40

Also, is it normal to worry that I'm not actually pregnant and that it's all a mistake? I did three tests (all positive) but I don't have many (hardly any) symptoms and the ones I do get are coming and going. When I'm symptom free I see it as an early warning of something going wrong. ??

LimeFlower · 30/11/2011 15:36

Hello everybody:)
Thank you very much for your lovely wishes,it seems like everything in my life started to fall into place-at last after 2 very shitty years.

Jezza fingers crossed for the scan and appointment. The waiting...is agonizing sometimes.

Hello newbies,welcome and congratulations :)

whenskies I'm not an expert but your hcg levels sound quite healthy?
heleana I did a few tests because I couldn't believe my eyes the 1st one was so faint.Give the symptoms at least a couple of weeks to develop-you might be one of those lucky ones to not have them at all.

Had all meetings at work,my company has VERY generous ML policies so absolutely delighted about that.Eating like mad most of the days(with a few retching exceptions) and the weight is still the same.Had a strange buzzing sensation in my tummy-surely it's not the bean as it's a tad early?

confu3ed · 30/11/2011 15:52

Hello everyone! Will catch up properly later as at work and on iPhone, but freaking out today as symptoms seem to have gone, well sickness and extreme tiredness I did sleep alot last night but could that cause it?
The wait for a scan feels like forever and I am terrified!!! Sorry freak out over for a while!!!

Twittwooo · 30/11/2011 17:53

Hi Confu3ed, sorry to hear you're freaking out, but if it helps I went through the same kinds of thoughts when my symptoms seemed to go away for a couple of days. They came flooding back before long! I also find that when I'm tired I feel worse, so you could be right. When is your scan? I hope you don't have too long a wait now.

LimeFlower · 30/11/2011 18:38

confu3ed I'll back up twit, symptoms disappearing for a day or two to come back, knicker checking and the other freaking out going on.Some days are better, some days are worse. Now I'm on the wait to feel the first moves soon-so far nothing.Mw appointment next week, hoping to hear the heartbeat then.

Twittwoo - Great news on the scan!! Thank you for the advice, I am praying that is the case for me but just so scared at the same time, and all DP has to say is to stop being so negative!

Thanks Lime, that is reassuring to hear, fingers crossed I will be back feeling sick again later on or tomorrow! My next scan is a week next Monday so feels like forever.

Haleana I feel exactly the same...terrified, I seem to have days where I feel positive then days where all symptoms disappear and I feel awful. I did 4 tests before I accepted it was real, and then the scan and bloods reassured me a little. The heartbeat at the last scan was also reassuring but now waiting for the next one is making me wobble!

Welcome Lollopy, you are totally in the right place for support and reassurance. Congratulations on your pregnancy and fingers crossed for you!

confu3ed · 02/12/2011 16:48

Limbo almost over, called EPU and said I was worried about lack of symptoms and she had brought the next scan forwards to Weds! Really happy that they are so supportive and keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome!

LAF77 · 03/12/2011 10:18

con3ued I hope that your symptoms have returned and you are feeling relaxed. It is so hard. Good news on the earlier scan, but I'm sure that time feels like it is so slow right now.

Happy belated birthday lady I hope that you had a good knees up (well as best as a pg lady can do!) What is the date for your next scan? When can we pull you onto the grads thread :-)

Lime I know your sentiments about bad last two years. It has taught me not to presume or think that things will just happen, but I'm starting to hope and believe. Any further thoughts on the wedding?

I haven't said congratulations to twitwoo but well done on achieving a milestone in your pg. We'll see you on the grads soon!

Welcome to all of the new ladies haleanna whenskiesaregrey and lollopybear Being scared and thinking that you might not really be pregnant is par for the course. You will find lots of good support here.

confu3ed hope you're back to puking or whatever you've had before and good luck for the scan
twit belated congrats on the scan- my brain has shrunk or sumfink...
LAF nothing yet wedding wise, have to write to my family to give them the news and ask for some assistance, don't know their reaction to be honest I don't care

Had the bloods taken yesterday for Downs, wait and see for me now.To all of you who had it-what is considered as "higher risk"?

Was trying some dresses for my festive meal with folks at work which is 2 weeks away-the bump has decided to make an appearance last night sticking out so all the lovely figure hugging stuff is back to the wardrobe or friend (borrowed).Bump has retracted this morning, little bugger.Does my TUM look big in that?

Twittwooo · 04/12/2011 18:55

Thanks all! This thread is mighty quiet at the moment, I do hope everyone is doing well.

LAF - I'm not quite ready for the grads thread yet, but just so I'm prepared (and this is a bit of a silly question), where can I find it?

KnitterNotTwitter · 04/12/2011 23:13

twitt here is the grads thread there is lots going on there at the moment

confu3ed · 05/12/2011 08:12

Rubbish weekend, not felt sick at all yesterday and only for a very short while on Friday and Saturday. Still exhausted though and very sore boobs, but cannot help feeling the worst. I am such a misery at the moment! Oh well only 2 more days to wait.

Sorry for the negative post, I am just finding it so hard to be positive at the moment. \Maybe its all fine and the sick feeling has just vanished, but I am just finding that so hard to believe right now.
