Freak Out Room For Those Newly Diffed Up After MC Part IX

LAF77 · 27/09/2011 08:52

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

13 weeks today,13 weeks today! Grin jumps up and down and runs around in circles Grin so now I'm officially in 2nd trimester, right? nevermind my belly is still flat

Biscuitsandtea · 17/11/2011 12:32

Whoop whoop Lime Grin

KatAndKit · 17/11/2011 16:02

Yay!! Congrats on reaching the second trimester limeflower that is a massive milestone! I wasn't showing at all at that stage either. It popped out for me starting around 15 weeks.

PieMistress · 17/11/2011 22:06

Whoop lime great news! :) :) :)

When I was pregnant with DS I didn't tell work till just before 17 weeks. That was in the days of stomach muscles and lots of exercise!! If I get that far with this pregnancy am sure I will show much sooner !

lady I haven't booked a scan yet, should be 8w on Monday. I'm just shitting it basically and too scared! Have you decided what you are going to do for your birthday this weekend? How old is your DS? (apologies if i've already asked!)

Happy Friday everyone, the weekend is nearly here - whoop!

LAF77 · 17/11/2011 22:23

Yay limeflower for making it to the second trimester. The worries don't end, but they do subside somewhat.

lady I don't think you would regret the doppler, if you find one at the right price. My placenta is anterior, but it is at the top. I've had no trouble finding the heartbeat. I still use the doppler twice a day (avoids swinging haddock) I can feel him kicking, but the movements aren't a regular pattern and it reassures me more than anything else.

I have indulged in some wine as well. I couldn't resist having a glass when DH ordered a bottle of Cloudy Bay for his birthday celebrations. I'm a big fan of NZ wine. I hope that you find something nice to do to celebrate your day. Warp speed to 20 weeks, here we come!

I'm definitely showing. I've had comments ranging from, "neat bump" to "you're massive"! Thanks!

I love the aqua blimps moniker. I think I'll call myself that whenever I put on my cossie!

LimeFlower · 18/11/2011 08:34

Thank you :)
Kat I thought I had a wee bulge a couple of weeks ago but now it's gone :(
Pie my work involves some heavy duty stuff which mw asked me to avoid so I had to tell them at work so from now on-lighter duties only(hopefully)
LAF I wouldn't mind a glass of wine or a nice ale.As for wines call me a snob but prefer french ones-don't like stuff like Echo Falls or Blossom Hill.Californian ones were not so good for me either.Plenty of beverages here and I can just have a sniff...

Spoke to people at work,a bit surprised but not too much, was given some stuff to read (ML related).MIL started talking about baby shopping.Knowing my state of mind I won't go buying anything until I'm nearly popping :o
Have you bought anything yourselves?

LAF77 · 18/11/2011 11:22

lime the bulge will be with you shortly!

My hand has been forced on some of the baby things. My neighbours are moving and were selling some of their baby things (infant car seat, baby bath, monitors, clothes), so I felt like I should help them out and take some of the goods. If circumstances didn't dictate, I'd be waiting for a lot longer before I had anything in the house. I've hidden it all behind the sofa, so I can't look at it.

Happy Friday!

Hello everyone,

Sorry I?ve not been on in a while. Have just been totally wiped out the last few days. Typical routine at the moment is come home from work, be sick, eat a little bit of food and go to bed really early!

litlady So, so sorry to hear your sad news. Hope you?ve had lots of RL support to help get you through this tough time.

Knitter Very jealous of your weekend in Venice, it sounds lovely! It?s really interesting to hear that you can feel movements so early on as I have been feeling slight flutterings over the last week, and am only 9 weeks! Part of me thought I must be mad, but another part of me thinks it can?t be anything else. It?s in the right spot and doesn?t feel like anything I?ve ever felt before.

Confu3ed Excellent news on your hormone levels. Hopefully your scan on Monday will make you feel a bit more positive too. Hope you?re managing to sleep a bit better these days.

Lady Yay for heartbeat! Grin Hope you?ve got some nice birthday plans in place now!

Lime Hope the doctor sorts you out and you feel better soon. Great news that you?re now in the 2nd trimester!

Kat and other aqua blimps! Aquanatal sounds great. Wish I could go (when I'm a bit further along) but unfortunately the only class near me is on a Tuesday lunchtime, so I?m at work. Would love to go swimming in general but with the morning sickness at the moment that could be a disastrous combination! Grin

Pie I was so nervous at the thought of booking a scan, but I think it?s one of the best decisions I?ve ever made as I?ve been a lot more relaxed since. All rationality went out the window and I had convinced myself that as soon as I booked the scan it would all go wrong! I know things can obviously still go wrong even if it all looks good at 8 weeks, but it was such a relief to know that it was all ok up to that point and it wasn?t another mmc. So I think you should just go for it and book it! (Easier said than done, I know!)

I?m off to a friend?s wedding this weekend and was trying on dresses last night trying to work out what to wear. Only one dress fits me now! Fortunately it?s quite a floaty one and not tight around my belly, as I look more pg than I am! Must just be bloating, although it feels quite firm.

Sorry for the mammoth post ? will try to catch up more frequently in future!

I am now going to attempt to update the list and in a flurry of positivity I?m going to add myself to it! Shock

CatAmongstThePoppies · 18/11/2011 12:12

OK, here is the updated list! I've not done this before, so I hope I've not totally messed it up. Let me know if any of your dates are wrong. Had a quick look on the grads thread and saw that Irene, Cep and Katherine have had their babies, so have taken them off the list. If anyone else wants to keep me company at the bottom of the list then please add yourselves in!

Hi everyone,

I'm loving the aqua blimp conversations! I'm hoping to start a class in the new year, all going well.

I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow and have my scan a week today! Only a week to wait. Hopefully by then I'll be able to come off the 'thinking of' part of the stats - I'm not sure when people usually graduate from that section but hopefully for me it will be soon as it feels a bit odd still being on there!

Waves to everyone, sorry for not name checking but I've enjoyed reading all your updates. xx

KnitterNotTwitter · 18/11/2011 14:20

Twitt I took myself off the thinking of section as soon as I was pg - personal preference as I wanted everyone, including myself, to be forward looking. That said we are 'thinking of' you - with fingers super-crossed for happy news at next weeks scan...

all going ok here - I keep having freak-outs where I convince myself that it's all gone wrong and then the bean gives me a good poke to say 'oi' so that's very reassuring. Must try and not do this on a daily basis though... feel free to fling assorted aquatic life in my direction... not too many shell fish though - they hurt!!

Twittwooo · 18/11/2011 14:57

Thanks Knitter .. I will do that now, so here is the updated list! I wasn't sure of the 'done thing' in the circumstances but somehow it doesn't feel right to be on there still. Hopefully I will be brave enough to add myself to the proper stats in a little while!

Just delurking whilst you're talking about the 'thinking of' section, as it took me a couple of weeks after my mc to notice I was on there and it felt really lovely to have been acknowledged. Yes, I guess I could come off too now though!

I am lurking as ever but got another bloody BFP a few days ago, first time trying AGAIN after the second mc of the year. Third pregnancy of the year feels faintly ridiculous and of course too early for any real comments at this stage as only 4.3. Already dreading an early scan (6 weeks ish probably) with my autoimmune/high nk cells treatment plan. If any of you lurk or are on the Pred Thread you might know this already!

So good to see everyone else up ahead of me is going well, might come and chat further down the line. Will see how it goes. But thanks for the 'thinking of', it is really sweet. Big waves to all xx

Biscuitsandtea · 18/11/2011 21:31

Freelance - how lovely to heat from you! Glad you've got your BFP - and keeping everything crossed that this one sticks!

Hope the treatment plan goes well - are they looking after you?

Think of that BFP as the first hurdle - first of many to be fair, but we just have to keep crossing off each hurdle one at a time.

Good luck xxx

Biscuitsandtea · 18/11/2011 21:32

hear from you, not heat Blush

freelancegirl · 18/11/2011 21:38

Heat is good too. I am posting live from LA :) Had a rather busy few days when had to call around here trying to sort out intralipids and a rather surreal afternoon sitting in a fertility clinic in Southern California wired up to a drip for several hours to make sure I could emulate the treatment I would have had at home. But yes, they are looking after me and I have an arsenal of drugs to pop every day. In the meantime just trying to enjoy the holiday and keep the mentalling to a minimum. Not always easy but at least am definitely having a good time outside of the whole pregnancy thing!

Glad to see all is going well for you xx

LAF77 · 18/11/2011 21:45

freelance I will be thinking of you and hope that things work out this time. The treatment sounds really complicated in LA, but glad that you've found someone to help you. X

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 18/11/2011 21:46

Oh gosh, so you're on holiday as well?!

How did you sort it all out to get the treatment while you were away?

It sounds complicated, and not your average holiday! Certainly one to remember!

Glad to hear that they're looking after you xx

freelancegirl · 18/11/2011 21:50

Def not your average holiday! All rather surreal. But my brother lives here and am with my mum and dad too so it's all very supportive. DH in England so had to email him to with news of updiffedness before legging it around trying to find the right docs :)

Biscuitsandtea · 18/11/2011 21:54

Gals you've got lots of support out there then! Poor DH though - bet he'd love to be there to hold your hand? When do you go home?

Am keeping everything crossed that this all works out Smile

freelancegirl · 18/11/2011 22:00

Thanks ladies!

Will be back home on Tuesday. Just working out when I can face a scan - 6 weeks, 7 weeks or after. They like to do it early on the treatment but I don't fancy that whole inconclusive thing again much, so might leave it until 7 weeks as surely something should be there by then if it were going to plan.

Biscuitsandtea · 18/11/2011 22:17

Is there anything they can do (eg adjust the treatment or whatever) if they scan earlier? Or is there a good reason for wanting to do the scan earlier?

I know what you mean about the inconclusive scan thing. We managed to hold out until 8 weeks so we'd know one way or the other, but obviously we weren't in the same position of being under treatment for it. So it is a tough one for sure!

So I figure you'll be 5 weeks when you get back? Have you been in contact with your clinic here?

freelancegirl · 18/11/2011 22:41

Yes the clinic know. 5 weeks on the day I arrive back - 22nd Nov. Clinic actually trialing me on something new having mc'd again on the treatment first try. He had only tried it with one other person and that is working so far. So am on a pretty intricate cocktail of drugs.

Clinic told me off a bit for going to my EPU for scans after the first inconclusive one with them. In this case it didn't matter as no foetal pole was ever seen (could have even been 'just one of those things' and maybe unrelated to NK Cells...who knows...?) but he said that in some cases when he has seen a heart beat that might be slow or similar he has had to adjust medicine and been able to act. Whether anything can be saved or not I have no idea! I think I am just going to have to bite the bullet and go at 6.4 and hope for the best. Lets face it, no scans are going to be easy are they!

Twittwooo · 18/11/2011 22:43

Lovely to hear from you freelance and fingers crossed that all goes well for you this time. I hope you're enjoying your holiday too.

This is my third pregnancy of the year too and I think I know what you mean about it feeling faintly ridiculous, but hopefully it will be third time lucky for both of us. xx

freelancegirl · 18/11/2011 22:43

Ooops. I seem to have rejoined the freak out board when I was determined not to Grin but it is nice that you are interested and sorry to hijack to everyone else xx
