So, after almost turning myself inside out giving birth to DC1, we've decided to take the plunge and try for another. Thought this would be a good place to share excitement / terror / general state of knackeredness. Just watch your feet as you come in. I haven't had chance to tidy the lego away yet and you know how much it hurts when you stand on it.
Glass of Wine anyone?

Oh Hernia that's amazing news - CONGRATULATIONS!

Two BFPs in one day, this is going to be a lucky thread!

Brilliant stuff!

HerniaGranger · 17/08/2011 20:25

Thank you! I'm quite emotional so blinking away happy tears and enjoying a jaffa cake. I would offer them round but baby needs them.
Please have a Wine on me!

Sorry, I shouldn't get too excited. Don't want to tempt anything bad to happen.

Well done HG and congratulations!!!! here's hoping for sticky beans and lots more BFPs for all on the thread.

HorridCold · 18/08/2011 08:20

Phew what a busy day it was on the thread yesterday - eggs implanting, hormone rushes AND flapjacks!

So, today, for the lucky ladies who are growing LOs, I'm offering some nice calming Chamomile Tea....................................

To go with the MAHOOSIVE crate load of Pringles and Choccy Biccies!!

Numberjacker, thank you so much hun for the sticky toffee, sorted the flapjack out a treat.

It's my last day of the week at work today - hurrah!! I love my Fridays with DD. Off to the Farm Activity Centre tomorrow with her and CAN'T WAIT!!!

So, have we got a break in testing for a few days then?

Hi RIBS, we haven't met! Hope you're Ok.

xxx

Clandy · 18/08/2011 08:38

Ooooh adding homemade brownies to the table! Yes a few days to wait for me gonna be a long few days... Smile oh is bouncing off the walls with excitement have to keep telling him that it is so unlikely but should count my blessings that he is as happy as he is.

How you pregnant ladies feeling today??

HorridCold · 18/08/2011 08:58

Clandy, yes hun, you should absolutely be happy about your OH's excitement! I have just started a thread in Conception about the exact same thing. Whether to continue to plug away at DH or not... It's a tricky one.

Thanks for the Brownies - they're delicious!!! Smile

RIBS · 18/08/2011 11:52

Morning ladies, handing out tea and choc cookies. Sorry not home made, im rubbish at baking. Can do a mean Sunday lunch tho!!

Hope all the preggers's are feeling a bit queasy but not too bad. Anyone else testing this week? having symptoms??

AF due anytime within the next 3-4 weeks!!! As have 5-8 wk irregular cycle. Nothing like bloody dragging things out eh. Constant sex and no wine for weeks, just in case. Really just fancy a wine and bed to sleep, so does DP. So I may be here a while, all alone.

The zits came out in force on Monday tho so maybe ovulating, or does that mean game over?

Clandy · 18/08/2011 12:15

Ah I read your other thread. Made me so sad as you seem like such a lovely person HC. In sure if it is not a def no from oh then you should keep at it. He is prob worried bout u n baby n finances ect... Men after all are the practical ones. I'm sure he will be delighted when it does happen Smile.

Thanks for tea n bics! Waiting is rubbish isn't it I have always been so patient until now. Hope it's ov for you - quick jump dp just in case!! Grin

HorridCold · 18/08/2011 12:25

Thanks Clandy, I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't just ADORE being a Mum. But I really really do and there's not much you can do about that is there...

RIBS, I know what you mean about just wanting a bed to sleep in. You do know though that they say that you should only really do it every other night to give the little tadpoles the best chance to perform... Wink so at least that will give you a nice comfy sleep every two days! Grin Worked for DH and I.

But it does get a bit tedious doesn't it - when DH were TTCing for DD it definitely became a chore and we were only trying for 1 month! Goodness knows what we'll be like if it takes much longer than that! I had a lovely rest after OVing.

Are you taking temps aswell? That's a sure sign to tell when you're OVing and at least you can relax for a bit after that.

Thanks for the tea and cookies!!

xx

RIBS · 18/08/2011 12:44

Im new to all this "trying". Is it your your body temp you take or you ahem inner termperature?

HorridCold · 18/08/2011 14:05

LOL - RIBS, a very valid question! You need a (I think it's called) Basl Thermometer so it should give a reading with 36.77 or something (so two digits after the decimal point) because the changes in temp can be really slight.

Have a look on Ebay (that's where I got mine last time). It can be an 'internal' reading and that's what some people prefer, personally I stuck it under my tongue. But either works!

You have to keep it there for 60 seconds and wait for the beep before you take it - believe me, the days after OVing that 60 seconds will be the longester ever!!

If you are PG, the temp will stay up after OVing, if not, it will start to drop.

However DISCLAIMER don't rely just on this and think that you're not PG if it drops, because other things can of course effect your body temp.

ALSO you cannot do ANYTHING before taking your Temp and it MUST be first thing in the morning. You can't even get out of your bed, that's how sensitive our body temp is. Take it the minute you wake up, so keep it within arms reach of your bed. I've heard that even talking to your OH before taking it can effect it.

I just used to turn off the alarm, take the temp, make a note of it and then get up. If you want to start charting temps and symptoms, try something like Fertility Friend.

All sounds a bit much I know, but for someone like me who's very organised and needs to have things to focus on, it was something to keep me going.

DH didn't know anything about it by the way, I think some men freak at the clinical nature of TTCing!! LOL

HTH hun. xx

HorridCold · 18/08/2011 14:06

Sorry, missed a word out...

You have to keep it there for 60 seconds and wait for the beep before you take it OUT- believe me, the days after OVing that 60 seconds will be the longester ever!!

MichaelaS · 18/08/2011 14:22

hello all and thanks for the snacks. i am eating a mountain of snacks today, if i get hungry i get queasy so that is my excuse.

I did temp charting for DS1 and was on 3rd month i think when we conceived - i also started doing ov tests on the month we conceived, it really helps to know when to be bothered with SWI! :) good luck all!!!

RIBS · 18/08/2011 14:23

Thanks HC. That was very informative and concise. Very impressive! I dont know how the charting thing is going to work for me tho as I struggle to actually get out of bed and dress myself and DD on a morning! Orgainisation is not one of my skills.

Will have a look on ebay tho when am at home and not using works computer for non work purposes!
Yep, cant let DP know about this as have to be very breezy about the whole thing as he'd run a mile at the crazyness which is currently going in in my head!

Also, think may also go for under the tongue method as dont want to get confused on a morn it could end up anywhere! Blush

HorridCold · 18/08/2011 16:06

MichaelaS, as long as it just stays as queasy, that's good! I craved S&V Crisps when I was PG with DD. It's the only thing that stopped me feeling queasy. Was never actually sick though luckily...

RIBS, the charting thing may seem tricky, but once it's constantly on your mind, you may not sleep for getting excited about taking your temp Grin! However joking aside, you may want to google about taking your temp during TTCing because there are quite a few things that can impact it. Like if you're ill or you've had a restless night, those things will effect your temp.

It's funny the things you remember though. I remember staying at a colleague's house in Watford overnight and taking my first post-OV temp and it being higher than the day before. I was so excited but tried to stay calm. But it was DD, determined to make it into the world - bless her! Smile

Ahhhh.... Right enough of that crap.

Currently chewing on a Drumstick lolly, anyone want one?!

Clandy · 18/08/2011 18:53

Oh awesome love drumstick lollies and dd is in bed so won't have to share!! Smile well I am sporting balloons instead of boobies today.... Getting hopes up that this is a sign! Going to be good an not test (repeat until convinced...)

I have no clue boy all this ttc business either its all very complicated so thanks for the advice should I need to start temping I now know what to do Smile honestly mums net has taught me loads Grin

monkeypuzzeltree · 18/08/2011 19:43

Hello ladies, have been running about and not sat in front of laptop for ages. My, my, it has been busy, HG - top news, how lovely that you should find out on such a lovely day!

I can't decide if I have any symptoms anymore, was in a filthy mood earlier for no particular reason, so wondering if its pmt! Not sure when I will test, think I'll try and wait until sunday..... (will be chanting it with Clandy!). And if all else fails, will be buying Ov sticks so that we can SWI at the right time - too tiring otherwise!

Mmm, drumsticks, very nice thank you, it's been a while!

Hope everyone is well and didn't get too rained on today!

HerniaGranger · 18/08/2011 20:01

Hello Ladies - I'm in the bathroom. It's where I've been for most of the day and I'm currently competing for the world record for the most wees done in one day. I'm like a sieve!

Thanks for the flapjacks and chamomile tea, drumsticks, chocolate biscuits, brownies and pringles. Mmmmmmm. They'll slip down a treat after this ice lolly. Brought some for you all, too. (Don't worry, I've washed my hands.)

Feeling really scared that because it's so early on, when I test again at the weekend I'll get a negative. I know I've had a faint positive and I've got genuine symptoms but I'm really nervous.

Will pop back again in a minute - nature calls! Smile

OP posts:
monkeypuzzeltree · 18/08/2011 20:12

HG, that is only normal, try and relax all that you can. And indulge yourself, can't imagine why you want ice lollies though - brrrrr!

HerniaGranger · 18/08/2011 20:23

Thanks MPT. I think I'll relax a bit more after this weekend.
About the filthy mood you were in - I had one too last Saturday and look what's happened to me. Fingers crossed for you.

Oh, and the ice lolly? I can't help it - my mouth is so hot. It's the only thing that genuinely helps cool it down. Was the same with DS
