So, after almost turning myself inside out giving birth to DC1, we've decided to take the plunge and try for another. Thought this would be a good place to share excitement / terror / general state of knackeredness. Just watch your feet as you come in. I haven't had chance to tidy the lego away yet and you know how much it hurts when you stand on it.
Glass of Wine anyone?

Thanks for the advice.... guess what I'm look at on Amazon Wink

Haleana · 04/10/2011 20:42

Good call. I think they're cheaper on there too. So are the sticks!! Happy shopping! x

YankNCock · 04/10/2011 23:18

You might want to check ebay too, I'm sure I've seen those monitors being sold.

Today was my test day, BFN, but still no period and temperatures still up. I'm 12DPO, and with my other two pregnancies I didn't get a positive until 14-15DPO, so still hoping. My luteal phase is a bit weird, averages 11 days, but has been as little as 9 days in the last few cycles.

Congratulations to thedogwalker and Haleana!

turnwest · 05/10/2011 10:22

congratulations thw and Haleana, maybe we re on a roll and the bfp are going to start pouring in!!

Well, dh and I have both been ill and in the end have missed out on our ovulation day, I think, so I think i m going to be waiting a while longer!! Fingers crossed though it happens before christmas, I d love to be pregnant at christmas.

RIBS · 05/10/2011 11:27

IM OVULATING IM OVULATING!!
Ive been doing the sticks and i got a positive result last night!! day 43 - I was running out of room on my temp & ov sticks chart!!!
I didnt think I was ovulating.

SWI'd like mad last night!!

How long do you ov for (im very new to all this testing malarky)?

Numberjacker · 05/10/2011 14:01

Hi all, massive Congrats to Haleana, hurrah!

I went to GP yesterday morning, as 6 months now so wanted to see if they recommend anything (eg vitamins as short cycle). And also to have it on my records, in case we go back for further help in the future. Wish I hadn't bothered. They won't consider any tests until 12 months (fair enough). But then she said they could do tests after that, but we wouldn't qualify for any treatment anyway as we already have 1 DC, so not much point then!

So going to make extra, extra effort this month with the old SWI!

Onwards and upwards...... X

YankNCock · 05/10/2011 19:41

Numberjacker, I think B6 is supposed to be good for increasing luteal phase length. I experimented with it myself and increased it by 2 days in one cycle. Sorry they weren't very helpful. I went to a fertility clinic with XH years ago, and we'd already split up by the time I got an HSG to confirm my tubes were clear. Blood tests showed I wasn't ovulating, but I know from charting that I do ovulate, just not every month, and often quite late. You can gather a lot of information yourself with charting!

RIBS, with the sticks I believe they detect a surge in Luteinizing Hormone, which normally happens 24 hours before you ovulate. Basically, you want to have the sperm waiting to fertilise the egg the minute it pops out. Eggs don't survive very long (less than 12 hours I think?), but sperm can survive a few days. So you've done the right thing by shagging like mad as soon as you saw that positive result.

I am still in fecking limbo, 13DPO, negative test, temperature still up.

Clandy · 05/10/2011 21:46

Aww numberjacker so sorry to hear you had no luck at the docs but like you said it's on record for future appointments... Not that they will be needed as you will be well and truly up the duff by then Smile

Having a wobble over here today. Feel like I am thinking dd isn't enough by wanting another.... Sad maybe just hormonal as af is imminent (late!!) I think she will love being a big Sis but in reality she is going to hate it she will have to share all the attention and she won't understand. Sad sorry to bring down the mood after two bfp's!!

Numberjacker · 06/10/2011 07:53

Nonsense Clandy, we're all here for each other for the good and the not so good, so if you are feeling funny about something this is where we can help. Is this your no-trying cycle or is there a chance you could be pg?

Try not to worry about DD. She will be a different child again in the nine months it takes to bake a baby, so I bet you'd have a doting older Sis, when the time comes X

RIBS · 06/10/2011 11:24

I agree NJ. Its always a concern how they'l react. But in the long run I do think she'l love a bit brother or sister. Im an only child and determined that my DD wont be - its crap!

Mine is 3 now and is having conversations with imaginary brothers and sisters, keeps asking me to hold her sisters hand too, downstairs and accross the road. Bless her.

Its bloody frustrating when your body just wont work property tho. Ive got a gynae consultation in 2 weeks, im hoping that the sticks were right and iv ovulated and managed to nail it this month. Its hard not to get your hopes up to.

If your having an hormonal episode Clandy do you think you should maynbe test??? (keeps fingers crossed 4u)

thedogwalker · 06/10/2011 11:43

Just popping back on to see if everyone is ok. RIBS exciting stuff, hopefully the swi has done the job Smile. Number sorry to hear the Docs wasn't that helpful but I'll second Clandy and say that you won't need to go back for help, you'll get your BFP soon.
Clandy I'm not an expert but I think by the time you have LO, your DD will love having a LO around. A real baby and not a doll, just try stopping her from taking hold of the LO.
Hope some of you have BFPS soon, take care xx

YankNCock · 06/10/2011 14:16

Bah, temp took a big drop this morning and AF usually follows, so I stuck my mooncup in in anticipation. I hate being right Angry Sad

Where is the 'Waiting to SWI' bench? Shove over and make some room. I've brought chocolate buttons to share.

nearlymumofone · 06/10/2011 17:18

Yank have saved a place on the waiting to swi bench, though hopefully you won't need it. I don't take my temp or anything so I don't know what any of that means, but it ain't over till the fat lady sings, so fx for you.

Numberjacker · 06/10/2011 19:10

I'll scoot along the bench too, I'm in that zone too!

By the way, what is a mooncup?Confused

YankNCock · 06/10/2011 19:29

Numberjacker, this is the wonderful Mooncup!

I've only had it for one period, but I was an instant convert. Heard about them on MN. Excellent if you hate pads, and none of the dryness/irritation issues as with tampons.

nearlymum, thanks, but am sure it's over for me this month. Unfortunately we will have a houseguest during the time we need to SWI. DH will have to come home from work at lunch or something when DS is napping and houseguest is out!

Clandy · 06/10/2011 20:59

Aww thanks Grin think I was having a bad day yesterday. Very hormonal at the mo, cried my eyes out today as heard that Steve jobs was adopted!! Blush def af on way. Yes numberjacker this is the month we were not trying and fairly certain it's af not bfp!! However if af stays late for a few more days we can try swi next month Grin if I can buck my ideas up that is!!

Clandy · 06/10/2011 21:01

Oh p.s... I have heard good things about said mooncup but I imagine it to be like one of those silicon egg Poacher cup thingies so am far to put off Grin

Clandy · 06/10/2011 22:42

Slightly silly perhaps but I have checked out the one child family board on parenting... Should not have haha. People were saying how they have one perfect child so do not need two. now I feel as if I am saying dd is not perfect and not enough for me.... Sad but she is it's just that I want another one, not just to be her little brother or sister but because I made one so perfect I want to give the world another one!! Please someone give me a friendly slap/reality check/chocolate.........

YankNCock · 07/10/2011 00:03

I don't know about a reality check, I need one myself sometimes. Some people really do feel that way about having only one child. Most likely some others say it to convince themselves they are happy with one. I have the same conflict, DS is absolutely perfect and wonderful (PFB much, me?) and I worry that I wouldn't be able to love another child as much. But my friends with two assure me this is not the case, and I believe them.

You don't have to need two children, but you want them. We need to stop overthinking it!

YankNCock · 07/10/2011 00:05

at 'egg poacher'

nothing like that, but one person I know described it as a 'DIY hysterectomy'. Honestly, it's great, g'wan, you know you want one. £18 and you never have to buy tampons/pads again!

Numberjacker · 07/10/2011 15:04

Hmmmm, not sure about this mooncup. What do you do if you need to change it at work? Just pop out of the cubicle and give it a rinse? Or do you have to have a spare in your handbag?
Ooh I sound like such an old woman don't I?

Hope you're ok Clandy. Am sure DD would be fine as a only child, but just imagine having two that would entertain themselves (eg at the beach) you'd be able to sit down and put your feet up!

kblu · 07/10/2011 15:08

Hey ladies, just checking in again, hope you are all okay! Two more days until I can test, bloody hell i'm bricking it. Starting to think now i'm not pregnant this month but then we haven't been trying all that hard and DH works shifts so it makes timing very difficult. No sign of AF just yet. How are you all, anyone due AF this weekend?

YankNCock · 07/10/2011 15:25

Good luck kblu!

Numberjacker, I've heard from more experienced mooncup users that you just give it a wipe and put it back in, or you bring bottled water in with you and give it a little rinse. I'm at the stage where I still wouldn't want to empty it when out on my heavy days, but I've not had to yet. It holds a lot, so you can get away with only changing it every 6-8 hours.

I personally do a very dignified trousers-round-ankles shuffle to the sink and back (separate toilet in our house). I'm not selling this at all, am I? Hmm

kblu · 07/10/2011 16:35

:o

Erm nope! haha!

Clandy · 07/10/2011 19:43

Aww thanks I am fine just having an episode of craziness.... They have been known haha. I know it's the right thing and it's what me and OH want so much just feel bad that DD will have to adjust to a new situation that I have forced upon her as there is no other time when she is not absolute number 1 iyswim.....

Anyway it is the weekend so onwards and upwards to better and more fun things.... Plus 2 ww til half term GrinGrinGrin
