So, after almost turning myself inside out giving birth to DC1, we've decided to take the plunge and try for another. Thought this would be a good place to share excitement / terror / general state of knackeredness. Just watch your feet as you come in. I haven't had chance to tidy the lego away yet and you know how much it hurts when you stand on it.
Glass of Wine anyone?

No. They left me in gunk for eight hours and then when my DH found them in the canteen drinking tea, they came in and shouted at me for disturbing. The whole experience was frankly atrocious so I'll never go back there again. I think I'll be asking my consultant/midwife what they think when I'm next pg but imagine an elc would be the way to go. Trouble is, despite all the pain of my first birth, I don't fancy going under the knife either. And I could be pg now! I don't know - I poas and it comes up very much positive only to fade to negative after a few minutes! What is that about?! I'm several days before my period's due though so am trying to hold out until then before I do another one. What a mind f**k!

sillywmama · 03/10/2011 22:01

Ooh good luck! Def search for birth afterthoughts in your area if it would help you to talk through the options, and understand what happened last time. I saw them the last time only a month ago, there is no time limit in my area and you can ask for a debrief years after the actual birth. Fingers and toes crossed you have a sticky bean in there :) and everything is smooth sailing this time xx

Haleana · 03/10/2011 22:04

That would be lovely. Thank you so much for your support too. I hope everything goes well for you and you tackle dtd with little to no fear after this! What will be will be as they say. We must keep reminding us that our bodies are meant to do this, despite what atrocities we went through last time. Good luck to all of you! I'm off to bed! x

sillywmama · 03/10/2011 22:04

Ps my OH was also traumatised and it helped him too to understand where they made mistakes, against what we just felt was crap care overall.

Right he's here... Steeling myself for action ladies! yikes!

thedogwalker · 04/10/2011 09:13

Morning all
Haleana I'm not great at all the abbreviations myself but here goes
elc - elected c section
dtd - doing the deed
swi - shagging/sex with intent
bfp - big fat positive
bgn - big fat negative
cd - cycle day

hope that is of some help.
well I POAS again this morning and I got the BFP that I wanted, so Yipee, I do believe, now to book Doc appointment.
hope everyone is well. FX for you all.

nearlymumofone · 04/10/2011 11:45

thedog congratulations again! That's great. what a relief! how long were you ttc for? How long did it take you first time round?

thedogwalker · 04/10/2011 11:54

Hi nearlymum. I'm ashamed to say that I conceived DS1 on 1st cycle of ttc and again on this time I've conceived again on 1st cycle. I told DH that his super sperm has met super womb Grin. Not sure how I did it. On both times I started taking folic acid a good 4 months before starting ttc, so that I get a store of it in my body, then I plan when I want a LO, my DH goes away on 4 November for 6 months and so I gave myself 2 cycles to get pg before he left. Luckily it worked otherwise I would have had to wait until next May.
I really hope things happen for you soon, I will keep my fx for you and keep doing lots of swi Grin

Clandy · 04/10/2011 12:39

Congratulations thedogwalker!! Fab news ESP with OH going away Grin

Sorry to hear of AF's arriving/bfn's fingers crossed for next month! Least I won't be alone in hear..... Smile

thing1andthing2 · 04/10/2011 15:02

Hi again peeps!
Congratulations to thedogwalker, that's fantastic. I'm now on cd10 or 11 and got some EWCM (sorry if TMI) so I am hoping to corner DH this evening.
I picked up a pack of 3 pg tests for 99p in the 99p shop! Hurray, even cheaper than the internet ones. Although of course, if I test and it says negative, I'll probably decide its because they're so cheap and I'll run out and buy expensive ones!
Good luck to all trying... how did it go yesterday sillywmama?

sillywmama · 04/10/2011 15:35

dreadful. I am home with awful food poisoning, due to some bad chicken! Nothing happened in the end because we both felt exhausted and sick. DH is poorly too. Romance is totally off the cards. One of us has to man up in an hour and a half to go collect DS from nursery and try to do the bedtime routine without making him poorly as well... gah. :( feeling uber sorry for myself.

saxony · 04/10/2011 17:03

Congratulations thedogwalker
It's lovely to hear bfps but also glad to have some company for this month too.

I am going to swi as much as I can next week!

sillywmama · 04/10/2011 17:47

lol me too! As soon as I've had a nice bath, washed my hair and changed the sheets... next week is our window so in a way it's good that we were sick this week... sort of :)

thing1andthing2 · 04/10/2011 17:54

I'm so sorry to hear you are poorly, sillywmama! Hope you get better soon.
SWI tonight for us and then at the weekend.
Crossed fingers for everyone.

Clandy · 04/10/2011 18:53

Any news for us haleana??? Hope I Spelt your name right on iPhone so can't check....! Blush

Haleana · 04/10/2011 19:28

OMG YES!! candy and silly - I poas and got a bfp this morning!! 1-2 weeks! Can't believe it! It took us a year to conceive our first as I'm poly-cystic, this is our first cycle! Was using the CBFM. Amazing thing that. With the first baby we tried for 11 months then starting using it and fell in one cycle. Starting using it at the beginning of this cycle and here we are again! Oh my Lord.... what now?!!!! How exciting and totally terrifying! Woop! Smile

Haleana · 04/10/2011 19:29

silly so sorry to hear you're poorly. Rubbish! Better now than when you're preggers though. Especially with food poisoning.

thedog congratulations! x

Haleana · 04/10/2011 19:30

Clandy sorry - my typo.

sillywmama · 04/10/2011 19:33

WOOOO! Congrats Haleana!!!

that's amazing news, so happy for you! CBFM have a good rep. Might ask for one for crimbo if we're not in the club by then lol

Clandy · 04/10/2011 19:34

Hehe forgiven for the typo under such exciting circumstances!! Grin congratulations!!

Sorry to hear your not well silly its so hard being Ill when you have little ones, but at least you dont have morning sickness to contend with as well Smile

nearlymumofone · 04/10/2011 19:37

Haleana, that's great news! Congratualtions!! You're making me think I should invest in CBFM.

It's great to hear of the bfps, seems like a few of us have our swi window next week, so fingers crossed x

Haleana · 04/10/2011 19:58

I think everyone who is ttc should have a CBFM. It's great. Good luck to all of you with swi windows next week! I'm still in shock! Can't remember what I am and am not allowed/supposed to do lol!

nearlymumofone · 04/10/2011 20:02

haleanna is there only one kind of CBFM? I think i'm going to have to buy one!

sillywmama · 04/10/2011 20:10

thanks Clandy I'm just glad it's a nursery day tomorrow! I only have to mish out of the house to drop him off then I can veg all day and recover. Back to full force mummy duties on Thursday.

FX for everybody SWI next week :) hehe good to know we'll be in good company!

kblu · 04/10/2011 20:11

Hi ladies, just checking in here, nice to meet you all :)

I'm ttc # 2, first month of trying, AF in five days. Fell pregnant with DS first month of trying 4 years ago and i'm 38 now, DH is 46 so may not find it as easy this time!

Didn't plan on leaving it so longer between DS1 and another but had a very traumatic birth, severe PE and all the rest of it and only just had a birth de-brief to talk it all over. Midwife really has convinced us to go for it again. Must need our heads tested!

Haleana · 04/10/2011 20:24

Welcome kblu, well done for taking that leap! You're in good hands here. They're a good bunch.

nearlymumofone I think there's also an ovulation kit but we use the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. It's expensive (around £100 I think) but the sticks are about 15-20 per pack and should last you two normal cycles. My cycles are long so it was one pack per cycle for me. I really do recommend them if you have been trying a while or if you have a condition (poly-cystic ovaries/endometriosis).
