Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VII

Blackkat · 05/06/2011 14:30

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

congrats everyone on the scans!

Have been wondering myself as to whether or not to get an early scan as my MC was a blighted ovum and the pessimist in me is thinking I would rather find out sooner than later this time.
My symptoms aren't as extreme as last time so fingers crossed.

thinking of you harassed tomorrow.

CollieandPup · 09/06/2011 21:37

wiw YAY Grin for fab scan news!!!!! What a great day all around! How are you feeling now it has sunken in? I hope a little better.

lara we are so on the same wave length!! I've been worrying about this again myself. We're still not doing it, but dh is keen to resume. Now we're past the early stages I don't feel quite as anxious about it, but I've really just not my mojo back at all. I have promised dh some action soon, but I'm just so bloody shattered.

harassed did you buy some flip flops? Hope you're not doing too much pre-scan mentalling? What time is it tomorrow?

purple I felt the same about an early scan. I had alot of cramps and some blood early on so managed to get a 6wk scan with epu. Then I had a private at 10wks, which actually pushed me to 11. The first scan was reassuring, just knowing it was all in the right place, but I can't beging to describe the reassuraces the private scan gave us. Best money I ever spent.

Hope everyone else is ok? Is anyone else around my dates totally knackered?had to have a nap last 2 nights after work! I am just zapped of all my energy!!! I thought this was the easy bit??? Confused

CollieandPup · 09/06/2011 21:42

wiw also meant to say that's AMAZING they know they weight!!!! 165g is a good weight. My little chart says 100g at 11.3cm! Grin I want to know what my baby weighs!!! Envy

harassedinherpants · 09/06/2011 21:53

Plenty of mentalling going on here collie, can't help it. I've had a pain tonight, any other night I would've convinced myself its stretching, but tonight its meant obsessive knicker checking. Also sobbed at Born to be Different. Those kids are so brave!

I've bought some worn once Birkenstocks for just under £20 on Ebay. Figure I can afford some fitflops too now!

Scan is at 2.55pm. Really worried that if something has gone wrong then I'll be left all weekend.

Thanks for all the good wishes x

harassedinherpants · 09/06/2011 21:56

purple meant to say that I had scans at epu at 6 & 8 weeks. If you can get one, go for 8 weeks. Heartbeat will def be seen at that point and we saw arm and leg buds too.

cep · 09/06/2011 22:07

evening ladies.

So so pleased about all the great scan news, so happy for you ladies.

hihp am keeping fx for tomorrow hon. I keep getting sharp pains but it's so close to where i'm getting the spd groin pains i don't even know where they're coing from so i worry anyway.

lara we're not, have to admit we'd done it so often when ttc, it was nice not to have to. (i know that sounds really bad) Plus i've been so tired, and then worried cause of pains etc that we just haven't. Dh is working loads so he's always knackered. Doesn't help that we go to bed at different times.

CollieandPup · 09/06/2011 22:37

harassed I'm sure the pains are fine, I've had lots throughout. Most der growing pains. fx for you tomorrow. Hope the morning doesn't drag. Hopefully you won't need to worry about the weekend and will instead be a&e to relax and enjoy it.

lily06 · 10/06/2011 08:07

Morning ladies, haven't posted for a little while but have been trying to keep up with this thread anyhow. Great news on all the good scans recently.

Does anyone take anything more than paracetamol and/or codeine for pain relief at the moment? I suffer from frequent migraines brought on by shoulder/neck pain, and I'm usually on ibuprofen & triptans which manage the pain. With only paracetamol & codeine to take I ended up in bed for 4 days, unable to do anything to shift the pain. Physio really helps but its private and I can't go more than about once a month at the moment. I have a consultant appt coming up in the next few weeks so my GP has advised me to ask them, but wondered what anyone else is doing? Sorry for the me me me.

CollieandPup · 10/06/2011 09:04

[blush ] just read my last post and can't believe I said a&e, ment to say able...to relax!! Good luck harassed thinking of you.

lovely to hear from you. Sorry I can't help re the pain killers, sorry you've been so unwell. Could you visit a pharmecist you tryst or maybe ring gp?

Happy Friday all. I'm off today Smile but a day full of housework for me Sad

CollieandPup · 10/06/2011 09:05

Doh stupid phone and typos!!

LaraMi · 10/06/2011 09:05

Morning All... Good luck for the scan today, Harassed!

Splitting headache in these quarters today. I seem to get them every day and they last hours.

CEP - I also had a weird stabbing pain near top of groin area (left hand side) during the night last night and momentarily this AM. Not a bad pain (actually it might not even be strong enough to be classified as a pain) and it's only occasional but it made me go: "WTF is that?!" Hopefully a growing pain... Worried it's something else.

In a bad mood today. Want as little interaction as possible with everyone in the office. Bunch of tossers! FD just came up for a little chat about my event budget - wanted to smack him...

Sorry for me, me, me!

wombatinwaiting · 10/06/2011 09:21

Thanks for all the good wishes ladies and yes, definitely feeling better and much more relaxed now, especially after a lovely morning swim in the sea and french toast and bacon at the sailing club for brekkie! Grin

collie - I wasn't too knackered in my first trimester, but seems to have days when I'm feeling really wiped out after work in this trimester.... Oh and is your little chart available on-line somewhere about weight / height?

Sorry lily can't help with the pain thing other than suggesting something like yoga as you get a lot of relaxation time and it may help with the shoulder / neck.... otherwise can you get a referral through your GP for some NHS physio and combine it with your private physio.....?

Would go with what the others have said purple about an 8 week scan (if you can last that long!)

We've been about the same with sex, probably a little less, more down to general tiredness / busyness rather than anxiety about the bean....

milkyways · 10/06/2011 10:57

Big congratulations to izzy wiw doo! Great news!
Also good luck to harassed for today.

No bed action here either since bfp! Don't really feel up to it!

Hope everyone is doing well! I have my next scan on Monday - I am trying to keep positive but very hard after that dream I had this weekConfused

CollieandPup · 10/06/2011 10:58

wiw glad you're feeling better. I am very Envy of your morning, sounds looovely! It's another gray day here! Sad here is a link to that chart.... Although it's only a baby website and not a medical publication.

lara drink lots of water for your headache. I've been getting easily dehydrated. Go and take a long lunch break too, and treat yourself to a decaf coffee and muffin? Grin

I've just cleared out half my wardrobe again of things that no longer fit. And I've already done it once at the begining of the summer Sad

Anyone else getting annoyed at peoples comments on your size? I'm constantly being told I'm huge, and have been asked 3 times if I've had a scan and if there could be 2 in there!! Angry also people commenting on how much I'm eating (!) and one woman that it took her 18 years to lose her pg weight!!!! Why why why would I want to know that, especially given I'm sooooo HUGE!!!!

LaraMi · 10/06/2011 11:13

WIW - very envious of your lovely sounding morning. DH and I nearly moved to Dubai a few years back and I am pushing for him to do a stint in Abu Dhabi within the next couple of years. Would love to wake up and see the sea (instead of dodging dog poo on the pavement as I rush to catch the train hiding under my umbrella).

Collie - my wardrobe is very empty now. It's too cold to wear maxi dresses too so am living in jeggings and leggings.

I was in my garden last night and my neighbour shouted across the fence how big my boobs have become... Since when is it acceptable to talk about my body parts as if I am public property. (Plus I'm still able to wear the same bra so they're obviously not that much bigger). Yes, I also have people telling me my stomach is getting bigger. That is making me utterly paranoid, especially considering how un-pg I feel.

lily06 · 10/06/2011 11:34

Collie how rude, how come people think its ok to say that kind of thing when you're pg? Lara ditto re the boobs commment Shock

I've been inhaling vast quantities of food too this week. So far this morning I've had a bacon roll plus two choc chip brioche....and I'm counting down the minutes til I can make lunch. I'm overweight as it is, and had this notion that it would be great to not put on any weight while pg so that I would emerge a sensible weight at the end. However..... So, I'm living in one pair of cropped jeans, one pair of linen trousers and two waterfall style cardigans that thankfully hide a multitude of sins.

Currently I'm a bit freaked out by how excited my friends and family are about this pg. My sis is off on holiday tomorrow and commented about bringing something back for her niece/nephew. And my mum has started knitting already. Am I alone in feeling more apprehensive than excited? At this rate I will be ready to start buying things about a week before they are needed!

Morning ladies (well it's nearly afternoon)!
Good luck today harassed - not too long to go now before your appt.

I've v shocked at the size and boobs comments a few of you have been getting - people are big mouthed and weird aren't they. I think I will try to stay well and truly underground for a bit more time yet to try and avoid idiotic and rude comments.

Sorry to hear about the pain lily - only think I can think of is the ibruprofen skin gel rubs which I'm not sure whether you're allowed to use? Or heat and cold pads, but I guess they might not be too good either?

On the subject of pains etc, I keep getting this sensation like something is pushing on my cervix, it's not really painful just uncomfortable and a bit worrying. anyone else had something similar?

galwaygal · 10/06/2011 13:03

POOH PIGLETS and ARRRGGGGG. Sorry just needed a little vent. I had a massive BBT temp drop well below coverline today, with slight spotting and cramps...... arrrrhhhhh. I know that it is just a matter of waiting and that it can go any-which-way, but right now I am on the down part of the emotional rollercoaster.. Please someone slap me and tell me that it will all be absolutely fine!!!!!

YouremindmeoftheBFP · 10/06/2011 13:04

Hello all.

Iirc, the comments on size etc never stop. First everyone says, ooh aren't you HUGE! (best was from a friend who put on 5 stone with her first, I put on just short of 2Hmm) Some people say, ooh, you aren't very big at all! (the kind ones), and once you have the baby, everyone switches from commenting on your size to comment on the baby's, big/small/looks like dad/looks like you (these comments will be different from everyone). It's irritating until you start ignoring it all, which is much easier said than done. Having said that, I have already put about 6lb on, which is the result of stopping running, I think, I was running around 20 miles a week. That along with the nausea that only abates momentarily after I have eaten something.

harrassed Good luck for today.

updiffed and hairy excellent scan news.Smile

I am on the countdown now to my 12 week (and first) scan. Only around 10 days left. Shit. What if there's nothing there and it's a uti making me pee 4 times a night??

I need a maxi dress or other frock for a wedding. Nothing too patterned. Posh wedding. Any Ideas? Doesn't have to be maternity, just suitable for disguising a fatty tum tum. I am 5'8 and around 10 stone(atm)

On the subject of sex, we haven't had any. Although dp is getting slightly antsy now, so may have to be soon. I've jsut been so knackered!!

Waves to all, I'm trying to keep up, will try harder..

YouremindmeoftheBFP · 10/06/2011 13:07

galway A one off temp drop doesn't mean anything in isolation, which you KNOWSmile. But it must be worrying for you. Ignore it all and I'm sure tomorrow's will be back up. And stop temping lovely lady, you'll drive yourself mental x

CollieandPup · 10/06/2011 13:29

gal like yrmotb said a one off temp drop could be anything but most likely nothing. I understand your worry though, I carried on temping after my bfp and had a couple of freak outs after the odd drop. I can only second yrmotb's advice, STOP temping. It's exhausting and really only stresses you out. I had the same advice off these lovely ladies and once I stopped I started to relax.... A bit. Smile

yrmotb I bought a beautiful maxi dress for a wedding last year, from Ted Baker. This is this seasons version - mine was cream with butterflies. I had lots of lovely comments and loved it. I tried in on the other day and it hides the bump well, mine just doesn't fit my boobs anymore.

CollieandPup · 10/06/2011 13:33

lily we were talking about this the other day. I'm starting to get used to peoples excitement but it's still hard to pretend to be all excited when I tell people, or they ask how I am.

If you don't want gifts, tell them to hang on the them. MIL turned up to my house at 14 wks with lots of gifts of SIL bcs she couldn't wait. I freaked me put and I hated having to open them. So now i've told dh, no more gifts. I'm barely ready to buy the odd thing myself, so I'm with you.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 10/06/2011 13:51

Hi all,

Good luck to harrassed this afternoon. FX for you :)

Re size comments. I don't understand why everyone thinks it is suddenly ok to comment on it. I just don't get it. In a non pregnant state my boobs are pretty small. They have definitely grown since being pregnant. The amount of people that have said that they are massive now is beyond belief. They never commented on the smallness before so why now?!

Have been to hospital for my antid this morning. Really efficient service, really impressed. Within 15minutes of being there I had had a full antenatal check, bloods taken, urine checked, bump prodded, BP/pulse, fetal HB. Bloods were sent off, refreshments provided which was lovely, cervix checked by my PCOS consultant which was really nice as he actually remembered me and congratualted me after all the difficulties conceiving. AntiD administered and home for lunch. My mum took me and even she was given drinks and DD was given cups of milk. Really nice to have something positive to say about the labour ward :)

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 10/06/2011 13:59

I seem to have gained two days on the list. Am only 23+6. Is everyone elses wrong/right?
