Blackkat · 05/06/2011 14:30

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Ladies, my scan was fine!!!! I don't really know if the news has sunk in yet as I didn't sleep a wink last night. NT measurement was fine too so just waiting to get the bloods done now. Sending the biggest good luck vibes to wiw and I think izzy is also scanning today so will be lurking for happy news later. Thanks for all your support x x

harassedinherpants · 09/06/2011 09:47

doo Yeees!!!! That's fabulous news!!

Good luck to wiw & izzy for today.

My scan is tomorrow and I'm mentalling like crazy about it. One of my worries is that the scan isn't until 2.55 so if/when it's all gone wrong I'm going to be left in limbo all weekend. The epu is at a different hospital 30mins away. So, so worried..... I hate it, I never had this with my other dc's Sad.

Sorry it's a very me, me, me post. Off to catch up from yesterday.

LaraMi · 09/06/2011 10:10

Wooo hoooooo Doooooo! Brilliant news to get us off to a happy Thursday... Wishing the other scannees good luck too!

Harassed - try and be positive - you've had 3 lovely DCs successfully - this one will also be fine!

harassedinherpants · 09/06/2011 10:20

Thanks Lara....... still mentalling though Wink! Hoping the lots and lots of symptoms are a good sign. I feel much worse than when I was 10wks with the mmc, even dh has noticed.

Hairy huuge congratulations on your scan, chuffed for you!

Updiffed yaaay to great scan!! I was also living on Appletise for a while, now it's Orangina Grin.

Collie lovely dress, you'll look gorgeous. Hope you've ordered it!

I need some new flipflops, was thinking Birkenstocks or Fitflops, but has anyone got any other suggestions??

Purpletoes · 09/06/2011 10:40

harassed I would go with fitflops I think they are the most comfortable shoes ever.
Good luck with the scan.

CollieandPup · 09/06/2011 10:46

doo Hoorah on great scan news. Super pleased for you. Bet you?re on cloud nine right now.

wiw poor your darling I?m really Sad that you have been feeling so low, especially as you are usually really optimistic and upbeat. I am sure today?s scan will be fine and I hope it gives you the reassurances you need. If not, I think seeing your counsellor sounds like a good idea. Do you have the day off today? If when you get your good scan news, maybe go and do something nice? Like a manicure? Or even your feeling brave buy a little treat for ickle bean?

Mamara Chloe was a lady on the ttc after mc thread, who is currently taking some time of (but still has a very special VIP bean bag reserved in here). She used to be a child minder and one of the children she looked after ran into her stomach. Shortly after she mc. I think she believes the two are connected and as a result gave up her job. So Sad

hardian lovely to hear from you. Sorry you are mentalling. Wishing mucho good luck for Mondays scan. I think a pre-scan pedicure is a good idea ? the morning wait is awful. My first scan at 11 weeks was at 4pm which was a killer. I think the idea of getting a keepsake box for your things from your last pg is a good idea. I did the same thing earlier in the year which really helped me move on.

harassed darling, all will be fine on Monday I know it. Try not to stress too much over the weekend, it will do you no good (easy to say I know) have you got anything planned that will at least distract you? I think your strong symptoms are a good sign ? mine were much stronger this time too. And the fact they are still there is good.

harassed I have some Birkenstock and love them ? and are the over the foot ones not in the toe ones iykwim. I also have a pair of Havaianas and I love love LOVE them ? like walking on air. And they come in cool pretty colours too! I think if you can find a store / go on their website you can design your own.

Ps I did buy the dress, but I?ve since realised that warehouse thinks everyone is 6foot and I?m a measly 5ft2 (and ½) so its going to be way to long and I don?t know if I?ll have time to get it taken up.

Grin

All fine here. Good strong heartbeat, nice wriggly baby, measuring right for dates Grin Grin Grin

Thanks for all the good wishes. I am starting to think I might actually end up with a baby this time!! Grin

doo fab news on your scan too!! Grin Grin

Best of luck to wiw for this afternoon and harassed for tomorrow x

CollieandPup · 09/06/2011 11:30

Yippeeeeeee!!!!! izzy smashing news!!!! I'm so so happy for you!!!! You must be so relieved. I hope the pre-scan mentalling wasn't too bad. Ues, a lovely beautiful abd cherished baby at the end of it! So happy for you! Areyou able to relax and enjoy the news this afternoon?

Ps harassed clearly brian has visited again as your scan is tomorrow, not Monday, which you said, hence your fretting about bad news dragging over the weekend- sorry. But of course, that will not happen. X

harassedinherpants · 09/06/2011 11:35

izzy that's fabulous news!!! Sooo pleased for you!! x

collie baby brain hey?! That'll last until lo is about 18mths if I remember right..... or maybe I don't remember right and it's until they're nearly 5!! I like ASOS, they always show ridiculously short dresses on Amazonian women so when you get them they're a good length Grin.

Off to have a look at Havianas.....not getting much done today!

dooscooby · 09/06/2011 11:37

Great news izzy. It's just starting to sink in for me-off to do a bit of hol shopping now and then home for an afternoon snooze.

harassed I feel for you with the mentalling-I hope the time until tomorrow passes as quick as poss for you. hadrian you too-treating yourself this weekend sounds like a good idea.

It's so nice that we can all be excited for each other, I'm sticking to only my bf and parents knowing for now, oh and the MIL who DH told last week.

wombatinwaiting · 09/06/2011 11:45

Great news on the scans doo and izzy - really pleased for you. Enjoy your hol shopping doo - what a relief for before you jet off. Izzy - something nice and cold and sparkly coming your way!

1.5 hours to go for me. Have been busy hunting for a new villa this afternoon so at least it's kept my mind off things. Only ended up in the flotation pool for about 30 mins this morning as really felt too hot and didn't seem to be relaxing that well - hmmm.... oh well, at least I got it on a half price offer! Thanks for all your kind words ladies - very much appreciated. Off to see Whose Line is it Anyway tonight so will be a good distraction....

I'm told that fitflops are great for back issues in pg harassed, if that has been or might be a problem for you in the coming months.

Blackkat · 09/06/2011 12:32

YAY for Izzy and Scooby great scans Grin Grin x

Lots of luck to WIW later xx

wombatinwaiting · 09/06/2011 15:24

And good news..... wombatbean is measuring spot on still and everything seems to be in the right place etc. Smile Sonographer was happily showing us the brain etc. and DH and I were both silently shouting "show us the HB"!! Anyway, he got there in the end to much relief from all - measuring 11.8 cm and weighing in at 165g (doesn't quite explain all my weight gain then Grin).

Waves to all and sending harassed lots of love for tomorrow x

harassedinherpants · 09/06/2011 15:41

Wahooooo!!!! I've been lurking for you all afternoon, and it's your fault if I get the sack for doing no work Wink.

Thanks lovely x

hairylights · 09/06/2011 15:52

:) great news on all the scans :)

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 09/06/2011 15:53

Hello everyone, have decided to join the grads thread :)

Great news on the scans today :)

Had a little spotting post sex and have to go in for anti-d. Great. Three hours to do a ten minute job. Although cannot get there tonight so have to go first thing in morning. Oh how I wish I could drive.

Velvetcu · 09/06/2011 17:27

woohooo for all the fab scan news and extra an special happy dance for Izz :)

mamarara · 09/06/2011 17:33

scooby izzy and wiw brilliant news on scans! Woohoo!

Good luck for scans harassed and Hadrian.

Oh my god collie that is such a horrible story. I really hope things work out for her. I have been v paranoid about dd jumping all over me. Mind you have been paranoid about everything.

Hope everyone else is feeling happy and healthy.

LaraMi · 09/06/2011 17:33

Awesome, Awesome news Izzy, Doo and WIW. WIW - hearing your news actually weirdly makes me feel a bit calmer about my own mentalling (i.e. not believing I'm pg any more). Good luck on the villa hunt - sounds exciting though...

Coconuts - well done on joining the grads thread. Have decided I might brave it at 20 weeks (a long way from now!) A fellow rhesus negativer!

On the subject of sex, I need to ask a very personal and direct question... is anyone else NOT having sex at the mo? My DH and I (who are very much in love and fancy each other!) have both decided to abstain just in case. I know it's totally safe - every book, every doc and every midwife says it's fine but we're just so scared of something happening. Anyone else feel the same? (Feel free to smack me with an armload of haddocks).

dooscooby · 09/06/2011 17:41

Hi Lara we're doing the same. Actually felt brave enough to do it on DH bday at 6.5 wks but then once I started spotting later on at 8 weeks I've decided it's too much to worry about. Would like to feel brave enough to resume things for anniversary but not sure how well I'll cope with the worry, romance hey!

dooscooby · 09/06/2011 17:42

Gosh-forgot to say congrats wiw-fab scan news x

updiffed · 09/06/2011 17:51

YAY :o WHOOP WOOP on the great scans girls sooooo -pleased for you all. I know the relief!! ...

Velvetcu · 09/06/2011 17:59

lara we abstained for a week after bfp then couldn't take it anymore!

katherine2008 · 09/06/2011 19:36

hi guys, just back from a week in Italy and thrilled to see everyone is hunkdory - need to go back through the last thread, but sending you all love x

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 09/06/2011 20:13

We have abstained now! At almost 24 weeks, after last night, I think it freaked DH out a bit. He said he is happy to go without. If I'm going to bleed after sex, I'd rather not have any than have to go get jabbed up everytime.

Have been having sex normally, although not as regularly as I'm too damn tired, up until now.
