Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VII

Blackkat · 05/06/2011 14:30

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Hey ladies
Great to see new faces - congratulations on bfps freelance and laf!

lily thinking of you lady, so sorry everything is taking so much longer than anticipated. And can totally understand why you haven't opened the parcels - they can wait! Xx

I have also been having heart palpitations - a bit scary at first but I think it's fairly common. Palpitations and nightmares at the moment - nightmares about mc, about something awful happening to dd, about something awful happening to DH. Horrid horrid horrid. Makes the return of the piles seem to pale in comparison!

Hope everyone else is ok

Velvetcu · 18/07/2011 17:43

helloooo

welcome to the newbies and congrats on your bfps.

Just wanted to say I had heart palpitations really noticably up until around 20 weeks and now I dont really notice it. I always get them around period time so it's definately something hormonal. It's how I can tell the difference between mine and the babys heartbeat on my doppler Grin Am a bit worried it's giving her some crazy idea of a regular rhythm - she might not make it as a dancer in that case!

mattsmama · 18/07/2011 17:55

FREELANCE - Hi - I have posted on an other thread to you but in case you don't see it - Congratulations on that BFP! Great news. Your nerves are totally understandable and don't worry about having no symptoms of pregnancy - that happens with the prednisolone (it masks pregnancy symptoms) and you are on a particularly high dose. I remember feeling exactly the same and to be honest that nervous feeling doesn't go (I am 23 weeks now- I can't believe I am typing that!) and although a little more confident I still feel nervous.

Just take it one day at a time - that is all you can do and I will be keeping everything firmly crossed for you xx

Congratulations laf and freelance lovely news!

I have been having palpitations too.

lily hope things get sorted out soon for you.

I have had my 12 week scan date - it's in week 18!

Minnie74 · 18/07/2011 19:56

Hi everyone

laf and freelance congrats on the bfps i remember you from another thread. Good to see you on here. Hope everything goes well x

I'm getting palpitations too and also really painful heartburn! Lovely! Grin

Having been lurking on the grads thread for a little while and am just about plucking up the courage to post on there. I know I'll struggle to do both (I'm bad enough at keeping up with everyone as it is! Blush) so just wanted to say good luck to everyone and can't wait to see you on the grads thread soon. I'll keep lurking to see how you're all doing- take care xxx

LAF77 · 18/07/2011 20:11

freelance I'm in all day meetings today and tomorrow which will go on very late, so I'm not so obsessed although I'm typing this msg on my iPhone at lunch! Im flying back Wed and arriving Thursday AM, so a lot to keep me occupied.

I felt bad posting my news on the RMC thread so it seems better to be here talking about my thoughts.

I wretched a little bit this morning which is good. Ive never had that happen before. I think that the pg is starting off better. DH thinks I'm crazy to make this statement, but it seems different to me this time.

Freezingmyarseoff · 18/07/2011 21:46

Congratulations to LAF77 and Freelance SO glad to see you here. GrinGrin

YRMOTB another thanks for sorting the list. You better watch out or you will get a reputation for that sort of thing Grin

Hairy I guess that means you did book in in the end.

lily I've been thinking of you a lot. I'm so sorry you now have to wait until they can do an ammnio. I think you are also right to postpone your exams. I was re-reading your post when you said you were almost expecting it. I completely know what you mean, and at the time I almost said I was expecting it too. We got our results last week and I'm also high risk (as I expected). We are going to see the mid-wife tomorrow. Anyway the point being, can we hold hands together?

Big waves to everyone

dooscooby · 19/07/2011 07:44

Morning ladies,
Really sorry to hear that you got a high risk result freezing, I hope the mw mtg goes ok and that they are caring and supportive in talking things through. lily as everyone has said, I really hope you're doing ok x

freelance amazing to see you here. You don't 'know' me but I used to lurk on your 'how are you feeling after mc' forum back in feb/march. I very much hope you'll be here until you graduate with flying colours!

Minnie well done on graduating, hope to dip my toe in the water over there quite soon.

I'm amazed to hear that so many of you have palpitations, makes me feel a bit more normal and less like I've got some serious undiagnosed heart condition!

LILI80 · 19/07/2011 08:06

Hi Ladies

Mind if I join? I got my BFP last week after trying for 7 months following mmc in december.

Freaking out a bit as getting cramps but no sickness which I had with DD and last pg.

Really hoping this works out but I still can't quite believe it. Hope you don't mind holding my hand through this.

xxx

Blackkat · 19/07/2011 09:12

Hello everyone, and welcome to Laf, freelance and to Lili. Here's to a very boring 8 months to you all.

lili so so delighted to hear your news, I'm so glad the time away not thinking about it and focussing on RL resulted in the BFP!

minnie so pleased you've dipped your toe into the grads pond, it's not scary..

Freezing so sorry to hear your results, will be keeping everything crossed for you

Better do some work, but I'll leave some salt & vinegar crisps and potato waffles in the hope that they work for any ms sufferers out there. Someone needs to start a new thread soon.

freelancegirl · 19/07/2011 09:29

Hi everyone, thanks so much for the welcome. Again I feel freaked out just being here but then I guess everyone does and we all have to take it each day as it comes!

Well done on your BFP too Lili80. I think we can all safely say we know exactly how you are feeling. I have been getting some very subtle cramps, even just an 'awareness' of the area and that freaks me out. But then when I feel nothing that freaks me out too. I have no nausea, no boob soreness....

I do recognise most of you too Minnie, Scooby, Hairy, YRMOTB.... having been scouring the boards since March now and have been lurking, talking to quite a few of you too. I've felt a warm glow when I have seen some of you move to the graduates board! Hairy can't believe you're 12 week scan is in week 18! I guess it might make it pass quicker...? Freezing and Lily sorry you are going through more stress too.

And yes it is reassuring to hear we all have palpitations. I am not sure with me whether it is the hard core drugs, the thyroid, the pregnancy...

Mattsmama hello! Yours and Ilovemysleep's stories have helped keep me going. I flicked back to that Pred Thread as well. So good to hear it is all going well for you, 23 weeks - wow. It's also good to hear someone else talk about lack of symptoms on Pred. I did get a faint whiff of nausea yesterday but I had been typing a report on a very wobbly train and it was when I stood up to try to sway my way down the corridor so I don't think it counts!

harassedandherbug · 19/07/2011 10:40

Freelance!!! How lovely to see you here and huuuge congratulations!! Seems not that long since the mc thread, but unbelievably I'm 17 weeks now. We're all proof that it can be done!

freelancegirl · 19/07/2011 10:49

Thanks Harassed! Nice to be thread friends again :) Can't believe you are 17 weeks, that is wonderful. Hope you are feeling ok.

I got a BFP the first month of trying (MC had been mid March, got pregnant again mid June) and am now seeing Mr S, necking a whopping 17 tablets a day. No symptoms at 5.2, apart from a lot of eating and a bit of fatigue. 6 week scan this coming Monday which might be able to tell me more. Half expecting to have to slink back off the board at some stage but I couldn't help but come on here for some hand-holding!

dooscooby · 19/07/2011 13:45

OK, here is another list as we haven't updated since yrmotb kindly sorted it out on Sat! If any of those who have 'graduated' want to move their details then feel free, but I didn't want to bump anyone over myself! Newbies, add yourself in whenever you feel ready for it.

LILI what wonderful news, I remember you from the ttc after mc thread earlier this year. Wishing you an uneventful few months now!

Freezing so sorry that you're going through this too. How did it go with the mw today? Hope it was helpful.

Freelance great to see you on here, hope all is well.

Took the day off today, DH looked after the shop for me so that I could go out for the day with my mum, was just what I needed and feel more relaxed and able to cope. Wish I could just fast forward a few weeks.

Sorry velvet that's my fault-I brianed the list! I noticed that onions has a rather funny gestation too, I'll rectify it but am on phone so can't do it now!

Think I'll leave the list alone in the future -i only seem to manage the plus one additions!

Twittwooo · 19/07/2011 18:50

Hello ladies, would it be okay to join you? it seems a lot of you know each other, and I haven't been on this thread before, so here goes ..

I think I'm pregnant again after having an early mc last month. I say think because I'm a bit scared to believe it, even though the tests are pretty clear so far. I've also been really hesitant to post anything, just in case. Silly, really.

I miscarried at 6 weeks last time, and it's hard to date but I'm guessing I'm only 4 or 5 weeks at the moment. I kind of want to wait until after 6 weeks before going to the doctor again, but maybe I should go sooner. What do you think?

I have so many 'what if' questions swimming around my head. Like last time I did a bit of moving furniture at work. Should I avoid this completely this time? Should I be taking more vitamins? What else can I do to protect this pregnancy as much as possible? I know it's irrational! I'm trying to just relax and go with the flow, but if anyone has any words of advice I'd love to hear them.

freelancegirl · 19/07/2011 22:08

Hi Twittwoo Congrats on the BFP! I am new to the thread too but have 'met' and recognise quite a few people on here from when going through mc and more.

I know how scary it can be to get congratulations but I think here we can safely say it knowing we are all going through the same thing. I am due to get scanned at 6 weeks but am seeing a specialist for very high NK cells so am not feeling so positive. I don't think it's worth asking for a scan before that as it is quite likely it is too early to see anything.

Assuming you are taking Pregnancy Vits with folic acid anyway? I am taking additional Vit D, Omega 3 and baby aspirin on the advice on my specialist but I have heard a lot of people say they can be beneficial anyway.

I think the only thing about moving furniture, doing exercise etc is if a) you seriously overheat and b) you potentially get dizzy, fall over, drop something on or hit yourself right in the area of the baby. Otherwise I am hoping that exercise and carrying things are still ok!

LAF77 · 19/07/2011 23:23

Hi twitwoo congratulations it is a scary and exciting time. I've often rehearsed all the things that I might have done to cause my MCs, but I don't think it was anything I did, or ate or drank, that caused them. Many unknown causes for MC relate to genetic abnormalities I think.

Still have tender boobs, dry heaved this morning, so in a bizarre way, I'm feeling good. I've never felt sick before or noticed such a change in my breasts, so I'm feeling optimistic about the pg. I told DH this and he didn't seem happy about my comments, saying, it is early days. I know that of course, but I'd rather feel happy than anxious. I think I deserve that after all I've been through. Counting down the days (13) until my first scan. I daren't add myself to the list before this date.

Twittwooo · 20/07/2011 08:16

Hi freelancegirl and LAF77, and thank you.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you freelancegirl, I really hope everything works out.

Good news that you're feeling good LAF77, it's definitely better to be happy than anxious! I'm a bit worried because I've had no sickness and I didn't last time either. I'm thirsty all the time and have tender, bigger boobs but that's all.

I have been taking folic acid and vitamin D for a while, but not the specialist Pregnancy Vitamins.

It's good to hear that moving furniture is okay! I'm only likely to be rearranging a few desks, but I wanted reassurance that it's safe. I really don't want to tell my employer during the early days so hopefully this means I won't have to.

At what stage are you getting your scan LAF77? When I spoke to the midwife last month she said they wouldn't give me an early scan because of a previous miscarriage, but I realise I could go private. I wondered if they might do an early scan for dating because I've had no period in between, but I'm not that hopeful!

I'm just trying to take things day by day and to focus on other things as much as possible. I am feeling positive this time, but fighting the worries is difficult!

CollieandPup · 20/07/2011 08:42

Twoo (great name btw) most places won't scan you early bcs if one previous mc- frustratingly. But I would have thought they'd want to date you early if you have not had a period since your
mc. Maybe make an apt to see you gp if your mw was not helpful.

Sorry that some of you are worrying about lack of symptoms. But please try not to, they tend not to
tick in until after 6 wks. Like you I spent weeks worrying I didn't have any, wishing the ms would kick in. And then in did and I spent the next 5 wks feeling like sh*t wishing it would stop. Which it did at about 11 wks and then of course I spent the next few weeks stessing about why it had stopped and wishing it would come back!!!! Grin lol so you see, you're in very good company on here! Smile

Ps my dates are ok! X
