Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VII

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Good luck lady willitbe and lily sorry about all the worry some of you have been having it sounds like its been a rough week,
I'm starting to go a bit mental as I have my NT scan tomorrow and I'm terrified the sonographer will tell me baby stopped growing weeks ago, FIL is coming to visit tomorrow aswell to meet SIL new baby so if the scan goes wrong I don't know how I will cope with all the baby talk,
Thankfully the scan is at 10 past 9 so no time for mentalling in the morning, hope everyone has an easy thursday xxx

Very quickly running in to say I am low risk 1:859 for down syndrome, 1:11000 for edward 1:25000 for patau.

Grrr just lost post.... will try again!

I am back from the scan and I am pleased to say that the m/c is complete, uterus lining back to normal size (I think the doc on monday made a mistake). It is a relief to know it is all over. The good thing is that it was natural and easy, although sad to think that my body is so efficient at ending pregnancy. I am not sure if we will be ttc again as 10 consecutive m/c certainly have taken a toll on my body, and I need time to consider what we do. However, if we do ttc and I get pregnant again, I certainly will be coming back to all you wonderful ladies. It has been good to be haddocked, and helped. Thank you. (can someone take my name off the list when it is next done, thank you and farewell)

Good news from me, hooray! The scan went well - both babies growing nicely and nearly the same size which is good. Combined test results came back low risk. Am in complete disbelief that we have got this far. I still can't process the idea that we can maybe start to tell other people! It took ages to measure both of them as one was hiding behind the other and they were both moving around so much. Was massive relief that DH could make it after all, would never have kept DS under control by myself. Am booked in for another scan in 3 weeks time to check everything is progressing well.

I'm feeling brave enough to put my name on the list now so will update it in a minute.

willitbe I'm pleased that the scan went well and that you have the confirmation that you wanted, but am desperately sad for everything that you have been through. I will take your name off the list for now, but we would love to see you back here if you decide to give it another go. All the very best of luck with everything from now on. x

Hi to everyone else.

I am doing well had my booking in appointment yesterday and everything went well. Just scan now on 1st august. I did however have a sneaky scan by collegue at work and saw the bean waving away GrinGrin so starting to relax slightly.

I have just received an email from
my friend whom I knew was pregnant and due about the same time as me ( from another friend who let it slip) She knows about my m/c but not this pregnancy unfortunately she had some bleeding and went for a scan today and discovered baby died at 6 weeks. Sad she was 10weeks now. I am the one out of our crowd who has had the experience so I have no problem
In her lean ing on me and glad I was open bout it when it happened but I know dread telling her my news if in 2-3 weeks after scan it is all fine. Sad

Any suggestions?

purpletoes I'm so sorry for your friend. It must be horrible for her - thank goodness she has you to talk to and lean on for support. In terms of telling her your news, it's tricky, but we've all been there - I've lost count of how many people I have found out are pg soon after my mcs. I think you should be straight up with her and tell her you are pg at the same time as everyone else. Hopefully the pain will have eased a little for her by then. Do you think you could frame it in a positive way - i.e. that you had a mc but now you have a healthy pregnancy so she shouldn't be too worried as you are sure the same will happen to her...? I'm sure you'll know the right way to phrase it when the time comes.

Question to anyone: When I did the list, was I meant to change everyone's dates or just mine?

Oh willitbe Sad big hugs to you.

I went for the NT scan today, all looks well, they took a blood test and said that the combined results will be with us in 10 days. My EDD is 14th Jan which is good, a New Year baby. Was mentalling a bit as baby was not moving as much as dd did at the 12 week scan, but mabey its because this baby might be a bit more chilled than dd.

Morning ladies,

Thank you all for the kind messages. They were unable to do the test yesterday as the placenta has moved into a more difficult position. The doctor was extremely good though, and basically explained that he wouldn't try unless he was certain that he could get a good sample, otherwise we would have all the risk and non of the benefit of actually getting test results. We're now booked in for an amnio in 3 weeks time. The waiting is going to be the hard part. At the moment I'm trying to just forget about it all, and forget that I'm even pregnant, its the only way I can get through it I think. I stupidly signed up for a few freebies and newsletters etc when we had our good scan last week and some of the stuff arrived yesterday - its irrational but I feel that by signing up for these things and daring to hope that it was all going to be ok I jinxed it. Had a bit of a difficult moment with DH as he wanted to open the parcels, said he could feel a cuddly toy inside one, but it was all a bit much for me and I've just put them away in the spare room for now. For some reason that was harder than going to the hospital yesterday.

Sorry, I'm rambling now. Going to have a read back and see what I've missed this week.

Willitbe I'm really sorry to read your news. I can't comprehend what you're going through after so many mc.

Purple Lucky you getting an extra sneaky scan at work! Its a difficult one with your friend, but I'm sure it will all be ok, you know what she's going through so will be able to handle things sensitively.

Ladybird great scan news, must be amazing seeing twins on the scans.

Marathon don't worry about lack of symptoms, I didn't feel sick until about 7 or 8 weeks and reading on here its obvious how much it varies from person to person

Thanks for all the advice on friend. Will tell her after 12 week scan but separately to everyone else as we will probably be having a group meet up for dp birthday which is a few days after scan.

Quite excited today officially 10+1 today so further than I made it the last time plus I now own my own set of orange notes! Grin

My best mate is due the same time I would have been before and I asked her to carry on telling me everything like she would of if I hadn't had the MC, even thought it was really hard - I didn't want to ruin her experience for her IYSWIM? Hopefully your friend will feel similar for you Smile Just read your last post and glad you are feeling excited - I can't wait to get passed my MC date, will feel like such a milestone x
