Anyone else trying to lose weight for TTC?

I'm 5ft 4 and 11st, used to be 9 1/2, been on and off weightwatchers and now heaviest I've been- know I should lose weight and get fit (now get breathless running upstairs, used to run 20k a week) but it's just SO HARD! Emotional eating, seeing friends with kids/preg Envy , AF arrives, Wine vicious circle! I know I'm not HUGE in the scheme of things but would like a) to be fit and b) to have less to lose after (hopefully) baby! Urgh, I'm a moaner aren't I- I know what I need to do, just no willpower!

Ringing any bells for anyone?!

Hey well done. That's ace after a holiday! I had another 2lb loss this week Grin am going to 5 body combat classes this week too. Getting so blooming broody but know I can't until I'm a healthier weight Sad

Crikey! I did body combat for a while. I loved it but it was hardcore! Well done on the 2lb loss. All going in the right direction. What is your goal for ttc?

A lose of another 2 stone. I am finding it difficult to stop eating choc thou. What about you?

Diet and ttc alongside each other. First Target is not to be obese (only a few lb to go). Ideally will lose another 2 stone in total but desperately hope to be pregnant soon!

Can I join you? I want to move my BMI out of the "overweight" range before trying to get pregnant, to the tune of about 2 stone.

I was doing Paul McKenna for awhile and liked it but it kind of fell by the wayside. I could really use some motivation!

I'll motivate you cheerful. I'm off to the gym now and really can't be bothered! It takes the edge of waiting to ttc waiting for a reduction in my waist size. Half a stone off now, will be happy with another 2 now. Best of luck Grin

I've fallen off the waggon completely.in last 24 hours! Pizza and cider last night (pre-testing torture of Hsg and fanny cam today), 3 bags of minstrels tonight (post testing). Feel ruddy awful to be fair. Back on it tomorrow tough!
Welcome cheerful! Pull up a cross trainer, join the fun! I tried to do Paul Mckenna....only maintained one habit which is not feeling I have to finish my plate!

Hi ladies, can I join this thread (too!)? You all sound skinny - I'm at the higher end of 15sts and only 5'4" - so short and tubby - though I don't think I look as bad as I sound LOL!

I've been eating healthily for the last 3 weeks and only had the courage to stand on the scales yesterday. Gosh I'm a coward. Anyway, I'm ttc and although I'm keen to try and lose weight before I do, if I don't, then I'm not going to have a breakdown about it. Though, given my age (I'm 43 - 44 in September), losing weight would obviously help before ttc. I'm just no good at weighting waiting (pun intended) :o

However, I do intend to continue eating healthily while I'm pregnant and try not to pig out on cake (oh how we love thee, cake!)...

Mmmm cake! Welcome to this l
I was 14 stone + two years ago. It's been a slow process to get where I am! (About 13 stone, same height as you). Exercise is key for me.
Delighted to report that despite stuffing my face not really trying last weight am a lb lighter on the scales at the gym tonight. Big push again this week!

I struggle with exercise as I have a dodgy back and had to have double knee surgery 4 years ago after my cartilage decided to go all useless on me - I finally find that I like running, start training for the marathon, and then find out I have rubbish cartilage. I'm falling to bits LOL!

Have you tried aqua fit? Always hilarious and supports your joints! Bless you.

desperate isn't sure at this point whether she should say anything about eczema and allergy to chlorine... :o

I'm stuffing my face - but with good stuff - vegetables, pulses, fruit, steamed fish, and I'm bringing in walking - it's about 35 mins walk home from where I work, so I did that last night. The humidity was a sod, but I managed it ok. If I did that three times a week I'd be fairly happy with myself at the minute.

desperateoldie67 · 01/08/2011 14:21

Ok, so I stepped on the scales and have lost 2lbs since last week, so in general, I'm feeling a little more positive. Then I'll going to ruin it all by getting updiffed next week LMAO! Actually, the timing would be absolutely hideous if that should happen, but then if it's meant to, it's meant to...

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I'm feeling a bit flat by the whole ttc lark at the minute - I really should avoid websites that give statistics for how difficult it is to conceive when you get to my age :(

Excellent work desperate! I have gained 3lb eek! Combo of poor diet, minimal exercise and booze (way too much wine on Friday!). Back in it as of today. Went to the gym (good start) and did healthy food shopping.
Remember desperate you are not a statistic!!

Thanks Faith. I was going to walk to work this morning, but it's really muggy already and I don't want to arrive feeling ick before I even start LOL!

I'm good with what I eat, but rubbish at the whole exercise thing. I've got an appointment at the docs on the 16th to help me quit smoking too - that's a HUGE step for me as I've smoked since I was 17. Scared about doing it as I know it's going to be hard, but I want to do it and not just for a potential baby, I need to do it for me too ('cough', 'splutter') :)

My sister has stepped down smoking wise using this. Saved her a fortune. Still got nicotine so not like totally quitting but there's no smell, no tar, no rocket fuel!! Good on you for quitting, apparently it's the thing that affects your fertility the most!

Hi Sorry I've not been on for a while, laptop broke! I'm glad to see that everyone is doing well. I've had my first reassesment at Gymophobics although I'm still the same weight (boo! at least I haven't gained any) I have lost a total of 7 inches from around my body and my BMI is down which I am very happy about. It has really motivated me and I'm going to try harder with my food.

Bump cos people mentioned this topic elsewhere. Where did everyone go? I'm not doing too well since I got back off holiday...not gained much but certainly not losing atm! Decided not to worry this week, bank holiday and all approaching. Agree with weight management coach at the gym, start again next Tuesday.

I'm trying to lose weight before TTC as well. My BMI is 29. The recommended is 24.9 so I've got some work to do. It's do tough. My husband says we eat pretty well so it mainly comes down to exercise. I'm so ready but I also want to be healthier/more fit and want to enjoy pregnancy without my weight insecurity getting in the way. I think the hardest part for me is that my periods have been really inconsistent since I've gained weight. I'm at the point where every late period gets me hopeful that it's actually missed and I'm pregnant. Even though I'd like to be at a healthier first. You are certainly not alone!
