Anyone else trying to lose weight for TTC?

TandTandTTC · 22/05/2011 10:08

I'm 5ft 4 and 11st, used to be 9 1/2, been on and off weightwatchers and now heaviest I've been- know I should lose weight and get fit (now get breathless running upstairs, used to run 20k a week) but it's just SO HARD! Emotional eating, seeing friends with kids/preg Envy , AF arrives, Wine vicious circle! I know I'm not HUGE in the scheme of things but would like a) to be fit and b) to have less to lose after (hopefully) baby! Urgh, I'm a moaner aren't I- I know what I need to do, just no willpower!

Ringing any bells for anyone?!

Nah, just work out how many calories you burn shagging, then get the Kama Sutra out and find the highest-energy position... Wink

Colleen that is great loss Smile

Hello purple - I was on the same medication and also went from a 12 to a size 16. Nearly off them now (reduced gradually each day as had awful side effects when came off them before!) so hope weight drops with healthy diet etc etc. Same for you.

About 2 months ago I dropped from 225 to 75 over 2 weeks, then 4 weeks ago from 75 to nothing. Not entirely sure if my doc knows what he's doing but after a rough couple of weeks things are settling down. Dp reckons he can see a difference already

Here's to drug-free weightloss

Well TTC better burn some serious calories. We decided on a one shag a day policy this summer. Btw 30 day shred DVD almost killed me this morning

My sister has that dvd and she said it's hardcore but she did well losing weight!

Gosh purple that is a big drop so quickly - admire you for that as I got so ill dropping the dose (not the illness that I took it for!!) with side effects that have had to do it so slowly this time. But great Dp so encouraging that it is helping already Smile

purplepidjin · 16/06/2011 23:46

I am now realising quite how awful the side effects were! I've spent so long just coping with low-level depression that I've forgotten what normal feels like. The anti-d's were a result of having my house and bedroom smashed into 18 months ago by very thick thugs looking for next door Hmm One lovely bout of PTSD later and I'm not entirely certain which way is up!

DP is taking me by surprise. I'm used to the previous successtion of feckless wastes of space who thought support was holding your boobs up so you don't have to wear a bra...

colleen well done - fab loss - remember that you're second SW week is the tough one so don't be surprised if you maintain... I gained 1lb and then lost again the next week ....

purple lovely to have you with us and well done for getting off the anti-d's... and for finding such a lovely DP

So what is this 30 day shred thing?....

Off to Finland later so won't be posting until Monday.... have lovely (skinny) weekends :)

Enjoy Finland Envy I will be in Essex for a VW show. Camping with a stinking cold might be a useful weight loss plan...

Hi all,
I'm thinking about joining Weight Watchers again. I did it before we got married about ten years ago and lost about a stone in 4 months.

Anyone here go now? What do you think?

Report
ColleenEatsVeg · 17/06/2011 19:22

Thanks knitt it is a very hungry week for me and I am eating loads, I think that's a TOTM thing. Boo will "try" harder next month lol.

Pip, any weight loss group is a great way with support. That being said, I've done weight watchers before but now with the pro points it's so different I couldn't get my head around it.

I'm now on slimming world for two reasons: first it's natural and promotes lots of good food and not just low fat/low cal processed food. And two because you can continue SW the wholeway through pregnancy and breast feeding.

Havea, that sounds great but what does it mean?

Report
havealittlefaithbaby · 17/06/2011 20:23

The diet? It's curves weight management. Lots of cash gone into the research. Basic idea is as you diet you slow down your metabolism. There's 3 phases to curves weight management, phase 1, 1 week 1200 calories a day. Phase 2, 3 weeks 1500 calories. You lose weight during these phases but obviously it slows down. Phase 3: food! 2000-2500 calories a day.
In that time you.note how low you got and go back up max of 3lb. Eg this time I started at 13'5. Dropped to 13. Eat way back up to 13'3 then back to phase 1 til back down to 13. And so on.for 2 weeks. Each time you gain it.takes longer. Then.back to phase 1 to lose the next half stone (ish).
Food wise its very healthy, its low gi, food combining (ish, not too intense). Lots of fresh food, good mix. It is tricky to start with but they show you a dvd and you.get a book.to follow. I also have a weight management coach at the gym who I check in with each time I go, she advises when its time to change phases. It is complicated but it seems to.be working!

Days post ovulation, fertility friend (pe futility fiend as it's known!). FF is a charting website, you put your temp and other data and it creates a chart that helps you track your cycle.

dpo = days post ovulation, I think.

Gosh, curves diet sounds very scientific. Am going to try and swim once a week to help my loss, but have a bad leg so can't do too much exercise however swimming should be ok.

Crikey, I have a whole new language to learn!

I'm AF+15 I think?? While we're not SWI (ooh, I know one! ) is it wrong that I kind of want to have had an accident? Blush It seems like a long time before we're going to be in the position to do it on purpose Blush

Thanks! Enjoy the swimming keziah. Don't think I'll boot camp this week, just aiming for 3 workouts to get back into it. Family fat club weigh in I have maintained (but I know I've lost and gained in accordance with Curves!), aiming to go back to beginning of diet this week and then can aim to lose more pounds - would really like to shed 1/2 stone by 1st July when I have my first fertility appt so I'm just under "obese" category!

3 sessions sounds a lot - liking your "just to get back into it" Smile you are very motivated. That sounds like a good goal - my BMI was 31 when I first saw the consultant.... my aim is 25 (stuck at 28 right now).

Hey

Back from finland ;-)

Had a fabulous time although probably ate too much... I had a great run - it was a relay race and the first leg runner came back in about 900th position. I brought us up 140 places which everyone was very excited about. The 3rd leg runner brought us up another 40 places and the final leg runner lost us about 50 - we all really enjoyed ourselves though - and we're already planning next years trip!!

Weigh in at SW tomorrow - dread to think what it's going to say... definitely overate :-(
