okeydokey, my period was due on friday, sure enough it showed up friday morning. it was all average etc, but without any period pains. carried on bleeding saturday until about 6pm. then it stopped. nothing yesterday. nothing today. Ive had none of the normal stuff that goes with my period (headaches, backache, cramps, moodswings) and Im a bit worried. I dont feel pg and refuse to get my hopes up, but this is a bit weird tbh.

I know very well what you're doing now lissie. It probably goes 'right ignore it, don't think about what it could be, arsing bloody reproduction just up the arsing spout, but what is it, what the hell is it, why, what is happening'. That sort of thing?

I wonder if an anovulatory cycle would result in a lighter period with fewer hormonal side effects?

I think even with a woman with no fertility history, nature throws a curve ball sometimes and you have a weird period. Of course it's harder to believe that when you have the history.

I'm not helping I suspect.

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 11:51

pmsl showy, you know me far too well! my cycles have been squiffy for the last year, but i dont think ive ever had a 2 day period before! I definately ovulated and had a 14d leutal phase. arses. if it doesnt restart tomorrow I will waste a tenner buy a HPT, just in case.

The poundland ones are fine you know. Grin

I'm glaring at your ovaries/tubes/uterus too. I'll probably be arrested.

Maybe it's the sudden sunny weather. I hope you find out what's happening asap. And everything that comes with that...

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 12:06

ah, but you see, I wont trust the result, no matter what it is. bfp? ah its only a poundland peestick. bfn? ah, its only a poundland peestick.

I'll get an asda own in the hope that it'll kickstart murphy's law Grin

and thank you.

Do Poundland do them? Really?

Good luck Lissie. From lurkage I know you've been in this game a long time.

LineOnTheLeftOneCrossEach · 11/04/2011 12:10

Yes. They cost £1.

For 2. Grin

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 12:12

they do aries, they are the dipper ones though. personally, my hpt of choice is asda or boots own brand. Grin and thank you. 5.5y and counting

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 11/04/2011 12:18

I was going to ask how much they cost.

What's the general consensus on tesco's own? Not that they've ever said anything to me than "No! Feck off."

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 12:21

Ive found them pretty good. tbh, theres not much in the tests. CB are shite. they are the only HPT's that CAN give a false positive! FR I wont buy on principle (see "a word about early testing" thread Wink) and I luff the ones in a pink box (cant remember the name) that gives a pink dot rather than a line. I used them when I was upduffed with ds.

OP posts:
LineOnTheLeftOneCrossEach · 11/04/2011 12:22

I think they're all much of a muchness tbh. They do what they say on the tin. If you take them from the first day of a missed period then largely you'd expect them all to be fairly reliable.

The only ones I'd every caution against really are the +/- ones because I know they've caused the odd problem with reading them accurately. And I don't like CB digital because they're taking the piss with their price tags and that conception indicator thing causes a lot of heartache when it doesn't neatly skip across from one reading to another on the right day.

I buy ebay cheapies, £2 or something for 20 and have never, ever had a problem with them.

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 12:25

oh god, the CBD ones are the work of the devil.

I hate fecking "claire" with her smuggery. "can you afford to guess how many weeks pregnant you are?" "no. thats why I work it out based on my lmp and ov dates"

twonk.

OP posts:
chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 16:18

and now i feel sick. see, this is why i was grateful to my period for arriving on time.

do you think it'd be worth testing or would it be the desperate act of a ftc junkie?

OP posts:
Ruggettee · 11/04/2011 16:24

I think you should wait a bit longer.

Was your period the normal intensity? My last couple have lasted 2 days heavy, then nothing, then an annoying amount of spotting. I'm on clomid, so know I'm ovulating, but since it was heavy, I knew that I'm not upduffed, even though it only lasted 2 days.

However, a quick HPT can't hurt can it?! Wink

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 16:32

it was normal, maybe a little lighter than normal. heavy enough to require a regular tampon (normally I'd use super) and a sanitary towel at night but I wasnt caught unawares by it (like I normally am - iykwim)

how long have you been on clomid? I had really REALLY heavy periods on clomid and bad ov pains. produced mega-follicles but twas outweighed by the anti-christ possessions that accompanied it. and the fact that I looked so crappy that I'm shocked that dh could even muster enough desire to have sex!

OP posts:
Ruggettee · 11/04/2011 16:38

I'm on round 5 now....and have doubled my own dose this time to 100mg as kinda bored by nothing happening!! I say I'm definitely ovulating, but was only checked on the first cycle of course. And, like you, my period is very heavy (at least for 2 days!)

Completely hi-jacking your thread now.....did you have the 21 day progesterone test to confirm ovulation? Cos the one I had was 31 and he said over 30 showed ov'd. Not a very good pass mark, though! Do you know if the higher the no the better (?) ovulation? Ok....you either do or you don't, but seems strange to be only just over the magic 30.

And you produced mega-follicles.... Grin

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 16:43

I didnt have bloods with clomid, they did follicle tracking instead for the first 3 cycles. I only have one tube and tend to ovulate from my tubeless side but my first cycle I had 16 follicles (iirc)was advised not to ttc unless I wanted to give birth in a box under the stairs, which I totally ignored. we reduced the dose and the next cycle I had 7, but it was 4 on crap side, 3 on good. I did get pg on my last cycle though and that cycle I had about 8 follicles.

OP posts:
Ruggettee · 11/04/2011 16:47

Flipping heck!!! 16!!! Shock I was impressed with my one big one and one small.

Glad I've doubled my dose now!

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 16:50

I reacted pretty badly to the clomid though, i was stuck in hormonal hell for 6 months. i felt so sorry for dh. I even woke him up one night to bollock him for going to the pub.

one night 4 years previously.

tbh, i think the only reason my cons gave it to me was because he was a bit flummoxed.

OP posts:
Ruggettee · 11/04/2011 16:54

That's not so good then. Why did you stick with it for 6 months?

I get hot sweats and insomnia around day 7-10, which is really annoying cos then I'm knackered for the 12-14 window when we're meant to shag!!

Have they found what's wrong with you now? I notice you said you'd had a number of miscarriages. Sad And have you got a DC?

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 17:09

tbh, I stuck with it out of desperation. I would quite happily dance round the M25 naked carrying a bucket of maggots if I thought it would get me another baby. we've been ttc for 5.5y now, ds is 6 at the end of the month. since he was born Ive had 13 mc's and an ep, Im under a RMC cons who is about as much good as a chocolate toaster and have kind of reached that point where my mastermind subject would be mucus and nipple pigmentation, but am oddly detached from the process. I would love to be pg again, but I know that doesnt guarantee a baby and I havent the energy to get excited about it anymore. we dont even actively ttc in a "we must have sex tonight, then stick my legs in the air while visualising the sperm meeting egg" way. we say, "ah, dya fancy it?"

OP posts:
Ruggettee · 11/04/2011 17:15

Bless your heart. Sounds like you really have had a rough journey. I really hope you get another DC.

Know what you mean about being willing to do anything. Desperation is a funny thing!

So....are you going to test then?! Grin

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 18:04

eeek, I will get a test tomorrow and poas on weds i think, if only to rule out another ep. i genuinely dont want to. but i need to put my mind at rest. and dh has asked me to Wink.

how long havre you been ttc for?

OP posts:
Ruggettee · 11/04/2011 19:38

15 months....I've got PCOS and DH poor sperm. Next stop IVF....

Have you been down that road, out of interest?

When I've decided I've had to take a test, I've now pee'd and then legged it and got DH to look at it. I don't mind the BFN, but hate the way it stares up at me, gloating. At the beginning, when my periods were all over the show, I tested lots, you see. Now I am determined not to look at one til he tells me it's BFP!!!

chocolatecoveredlissielou · 11/04/2011 19:42

we were turned down for IVF because of the mc's. the probability of it working isnt great, at least not until my cons gets his head out of his arse and sorts out some proper tests/help/drugs.

IKWYM about not wanting to know. Im the other end, everytime i get a bfp I chuck it against the wall and cry. and cry. and cry. my last bfp I didnt tell dh for almost a week, i couldnt bear it.

OP posts:
Ruggettee · 12/04/2011 08:51

Oh that's horrible for you. Knowing that your BFP always spells the worry about mc. I can't imagine how hard that would be. Sad Is your DH supportive?

It is surprising that you're under a consultant and he hasn't figured out why you keep mc'ing. Is this NHS or private?
