Newly pregnant after miscarriage? Here is a nice place to hang out and swap symptoms and worries until you are brave enough to sign up to the grads thread.

Here is a link to the old thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/1165866-Freak-out-room-for-those-newly-updiffed-after-MC-to-hold-hands-and-support-each-other-Part-III/AllOnOnePage#24507574

Pink - I am envious of anyone further down the pg journey! In fact, today is my first day at work following BFP-news and I am a total bag of nerves! Am so very worried it's not real. I even check my undies (sorry, TMI) for any signs of anything negative every time I go to the loo. I analyse every twinge (or lack of twinge) and am a wreck! I don't know how I'll even get through the coming days or more like weeks till I have a first scan. I am petrified cos I have no symptoms yet. And I'm worried that because I'm so worried, I'll scare myself into MC-ing. Am I normal?!

Velvetcu · 28/03/2011 14:25

lol Lara yes perfectly normal here! Don't apologise for the knicker-checking, it's all part of the neurotic journey. I didn't know how I was gonna make it either (and I still dont't) but I can't believe that I got my BFP over 5 weeks ago now. Time does go by, allbeit slowly. Everyone on here has varying degrees of symptoms so just keep talking to us and we'll help you through.

Can't remember who it was that said how great you all are but I'm adding my "here, here" to that too. Now we need mamap to get this bar open so we can have a RL toast :)

mmmm toast, I'm hungry but have no energy to make myself anything.

IreneHeron · 28/03/2011 14:25

Lara I do know where you're coming from. It does seem to drag so much at the beginning, especially after a MC. Stressing is not going to help but you know that. My mantra has been don't worry about it until it happens. Not the easiest thing to do though. Take one day at a time, and other cliches. Also remember you might not get symptoms for ages, with DS, mine started at about 8 weeks, this time it started at 4 but that goes to show every pregnancy is different.

nickstermum · 28/03/2011 14:33

Lara, have to say whilst the knicker checking and wiping is perfickly normal (still do it now at 21 weeks!!) dont worry yourself toooooooo much that it makes you ill. Your dreams will do enough of that for you!

DH said to me that i would become a self fulfilling prophecy if i didnt watch it... i know he was trying to be helpful, a little cruel but was a bit of a boot up my arse that i needed!! Then at i think 17-18 weeks Dad sat me down for a heart to heart and instructed me that i needed to start relaxing and enjoying my pregnancy - (made me sob!!) but again had a point. For dad to say that, i must have been bad :)

so remember, symptoms come and go, boobs come and go, i have had days where i havent felt pg... and days where i felt blooming... but whilst worrying is perfectly normal, try to force yourself to think "i am pregnant today" (may not be tomorrow!!) but at least i will try and take a day at a time...

hindsight is a wonderful thing = took me til nearly 20 weeks to think like that...... Grin

LaraMi · 28/03/2011 14:37

Velvet and Irene, thank you so much. Reading your posts already made me feel better! It's reassuring too to know that there are other ladies out there that feel / have felt the same and that have been through the same experiences with a positive outcome.

I will be a blubbering mess when I watch OBEM tonight!

Love to you all and a big cheers

LaraMi · 28/03/2011 14:39

Thanks too Nicks! We wrote at the same time so I missed your post... My DH said the same thing too! So appreciative of your support xxx

The Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors. And the Blue Whale. And the Squid. Mmm, salt and pepper deep fried squid.

LaraMi · 28/03/2011 15:22

Owl - your ten commandments are fab and I am ashamed to admit it but I can concur with everything on the list! Can I add another point below point 2)? To be even more gross, after knicker checking and paper wiping, I even examined pee inside toilet today in case there are any remnants of anything resembling the start of a MC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awful, gross and I should be ashamed of myself!

katherine2008 · 28/03/2011 15:48

owl that is a work of flippin genius and deserves to be a discussion of the day. thank you!

katherine2008 · 28/03/2011 15:49

I would also add:
Thou shalt check if your boobs feel sore/tender/heavy so frequently that thou shalt make them feel both sore and tender

owlbooty · 28/03/2011 15:56

Nooo! Better make it 11 commandments, the boob one is an absolute must Grin

Lara bonus points for extra grossness Grin Grin You are not alone in your bog-fixation, trust me on this.

Izzy Hoorah for you being on the list and bollocks to the jinx pixies

Velvetcu · 28/03/2011 16:01

yippee Izz for joining the list

Yes katherine the boob one is a must - I had a panic in the night that they werent hurting so much so gave them a good old prodding!

I'm pretty annoyed with how much panicking I'm doing coz of this flu! I also had a heart sink a minute ago when I got up to get a drink. Loads of goo came out which sent me running to the loo. It's all fine - of course it's gonna blob out when I stand up I've been laying down all day!!!

I keep trying to tell myself that 8 week scan had a hb so 98% chance it's all fine etc etc but it's not sinking in. Arrgghhhh.

nickstermum · 28/03/2011 16:04

OWL -

correction

Thou shalt Inspect the white loo roll in the light of the window (rather than check) Grin Grin Grin

Just brilliant List Grin

Velvetcu · 28/03/2011 16:07

hahaha nix we usually have peach loo roll but I've been buying white for the past few weeks so I can see it more clearly Grin

This is truly brilliant...

What about "Thou must not forget oneself by attempting to self-diagnose by googling gross (and highly inappropriate) phrases on WORK COMPUTER like: 'yellow discharge in early pregnancy', 'position of breast milk glands' and 'mucous cervical plug'"

LaraMi · 28/03/2011 17:01

Speaking of pantone... BTW - the other day, a colleague wanted to borrow my blackberry to google something and I had to snatch it off him cos I had a long, long history of vile search words all relating to discharges colours, cervical fluid etc from trying to occupy myself with conception matters on my commute to / from work!!!

Collie2 · 28/03/2011 17:13

Hi kat and lara congratulations on your bpf. I?m new here to, roughly 5+3.

Dachs so Envy of your oufits with ears. They?re soooo cute! Sorry you have the flu though. Just try and get lots of rest and snuggle up with a hot water bottle.

banana and izzy how are the symptoms going? Still nothing here (!!) Ninu how are you??

izzy well done on adding yourself to the stats. You have inspired me, so I will do the same tomorrow as long as my cb digi goes up to 3+weeks (fx).

Hils good luck for the booking in on Thursday, I have my first apt with gp on weds, but putting off the booking in appointment at the mo?.just don?t want to have to go through that for nothing again. Sad

owl pmsl @ the list. I do ALL of those things AND the boob prodding several million times a day! Glad I?m not alone in being a nutter! Grin at velvet for only buying white loo roll ? me too!! Blush lara I am also guilty of the questionable google searches at work! God I hope IT aren?t monitoring usage??!!!

Back from the lakes this afternoon. Was nice to be away and to spend time with mum. So sad and worried for her, she?s had me cancel our special mothers day meal next week as she doesn?t want a fuss. Sad

Been driving myself mental all weekend symptom spotting. No more brown blood since fri but I?ve had really bad back/pelvic pain over the weekend. I can?t tell which it is which is annoying as Dr google (sorry owl ) says backpain is normal but pelvic could be ectopic, so no prizes for guessing which it must be! Blush Also convinced myself that I had pains in my left arm on Saturday night, so it absolutely must be ectopic, and not because I was lying on my arm in my sleep Blush and Angry at myself.

However, despite the doom self prognosis, I mustered up the courage to book myself in for a private 8 week scan today. izzy we are dd and scan buddies as my 8 week scan is 19/4 too!! Do I remember right in thinking you are in yorkshire? My scan is at the genome screening centre in leeds.

owlbooty · 28/03/2011 17:16

Oh man. If anyone looks at my search history on my work computer I am in so much shit.

LaraMi · 28/03/2011 17:21

Collie, when I read your post I was thinking "of course everything's fine with you, you're worrying over nothing. You will have a perfectly developing little bean in there". However, with myself it's another matter. I haven't done a pg test since yesterday (as shop had run out of cheapo ones and I'm too scared to use a digital in case it says "not pg" even though FIVE other tests came out +ve). Now cos a whole 24 hours have passed since last test I'm worrying that I'm no longer pg. I am bloody petrified. Need to sort a scan out too.

Collie you will be fine - don't they say that brown blood is fine?

Nothing has been coming from my quarters today - no pain, no twinges, no sickness, nothing. I clearly must've made up the whole thing.

OrangeGloss · 28/03/2011 17:22

Tunnocks sorry to hear about your panic attack, can the dr not help?
Mattsmama I hope the next fees days go quickly, it's agonising isn't it?
Grin at Brian for distracting Irene to accidentally fess up! What's a vbac?
Pink the only name me and dh have agreed on is a boys name, I wonder if it's a sign? (pure speculation/fun at this point and something positive to concentrate on)
Good nesting Nix the only nesting I've done is to buy more bedding for our bed and discuss life insurance Hmm
Emoo first a female colleague, then a male friend did the tum thing, which at just turned 17 weeks it ain't that big! My dh liked that I'd seen 4 magpies as I think he'd secretly like a boy
((( Velvet ))) this cold/flu thing I just had was the most ill I'd been in years, proper bed-ridden for 4 days and only just feeling like myself 10 days after that! I think it's low immune system that's surpressed to help bean. I had MW when I was over the worst, she wasn't the slightest bit concerned and found a HB. Just worry about getting yourself better, your bean will be all snuggled until you do :)

I'm currently obsessed with fish, tuna yesterday salmon today :)
Think my dh needs a
