Folicacid · 31/01/2011 19:08

  1. Lurking in baby names on a daily basis, desperate to post
  1. Checking the baby name statistics for both country and area
  1. Surfing Amazon to read reviews of pregnancy books- but not buying any
  1. Working out how pregnant I could be if I get pregnant this month at key events this year like weddings, holidays

5.Regularly checking the local nursery's website for information

Thank you all for posting this I have been ttc for 13 months and feeling down about it and to top it off a friend has just announced she is pregnant Envy this thread has so cheered me up and also made me realise I am not completly barking mad. I have done most of these apart from the spell buying thing.
Mine is being thrilled to bits with the car seat that best friend gave me for my car as we regularly take her kids in it and saves the hastle of moving seats and thinking how lovely a proper child seat looks next to booster seat which we already have for her older child in our estate car which we bought for ttc oh and refusing to put seats away when not using them as I love them being in the back so much as they kind of complete our car. Just really hoping my boss doesn't see them or ask for a lift anywhere Blush

pecka33 · 08/02/2011 19:26

you cant have orange juice when your ttc or pg?? Omg!! Im always drinking it....

knittymum · 08/02/2011 19:39

No, I think that must have been a special added vitamins one.

jugglingjo · 08/02/2011 19:40

Surely it has folic acid in though doesn't it, which might be good in the early stages, especially TTC ?

knittymum · 08/02/2011 19:45

Yeah, drinking huge amounts of it was one of my unreasonable behaviour thingies, as TTC came somewhat unexpectedly and on the spur of the moment and I had no folic acid tablets in the house! Well, orange juice and multiple pieces of toast with marmite each day!

pigletmania · 08/02/2011 19:53

152 not going to soft play with dd in case I might be pg and will MC a baby doing all that rough and tumble, seriously Grin. I have had 2 MC in the past which has fulled my paranoia.

BabyMaking2011 · 08/02/2011 20:29

love this thread! not even trying tcc yet but am addicted to looking at mamasandpapas website and costing things i might need... have so far resisted buying things as it seems a bit bonkers, but now am trying to justify it in my head based on this thread hahaha

highheelsandequations · 08/02/2011 21:08

This thread is making me nostalgic!

vitamin B6, vitamin d, agnus castus, bee pollen, royal jelly, grapefruit juice pre-ovulation, pineapple juice post ovulation, avoiding aubergine post ovulation, various aromatherapy oils, most of the behaviours mentioned above, ...

Eventually got my BFP last October after 18 months trying, the madness was worth it eventually!

Bumpsadaisie · 08/02/2011 21:11

153 (inspired by this thread and something I have just been testing out myself) feeling your boobs to see whether they are sore AT THE SIDES (progesterone related) or on the nips (oestrogen related i.e. BAD NEWS).

#154 being in a good mood because your boobs are indeed sore AT THE SIDES Grin

Bumpsadaisie · 08/02/2011 21:20

155 spending hours in the FF "chart gallery" and silently muttering to oneself a kind of literary criticism of the charts, as if they were works of art ... e.g.

"ooh, that's a nice looking chart, look at that lovely rise!"

"ooh, nice - textbook!"

"ooh, look at the dramatic tension between the EWCM signs on the one hand and the OPK signs on the other - hmmm, tricky!"

And also commenting as if the charter was a mate of yours who can hear you e.g. to woman who records 10 consecutive BFPs in a row:

"Love, you really are pregnant - stop wasting your money!"

Or to the woman who managed to get "XX" in "BD" on each of the five days of the fertile window:

"Oh well done girl! I wouldnt mind meeting YOUR OH!"

Or to the woman who didn't manage very much BD that month:

"Love, you're not even in the game at that! Come on, get down to it!"

twolittlemonkeys · 08/02/2011 21:32

I am literally laughing out loud at this thread. I have done soooo many of these things. Am trying to be a little bit less obsessed but have already checked out cars which will accommodate a larger family, valued our current car on webuyanycar.com and worked out what we can afford if we save all my wages (only a few hrs a week) for the next 8 months. PMSL.

I have worked out my favourite names (DH hates the choosing a baby name malarkey) without discussing with him - no doubt he'll veto my choices when (if) the time comes.

Oh and I've always said I want to hire a bouncy castle for my 30th (in about 6 weeks) but keep putting off organising it as I'm convinced I'll be pregnant and therefore it won't be a good idea to bounce, plus with all the morning sickness I might not feel up to having a party. I'm that sad...

Idreaminchocolate · 08/02/2011 21:57

#156. Toturing myself by obsessively watching One Born Every Minute (and of course making mental notes re: birth dos and don'ts).

#157. Buying Preganancy & Birth magazine.

#158 No longer buying Pregnancy & Birth magazine due to DH's raised eyebrows and instead standing in the magazine aisle in Tescos reading it.

knittymum · 08/02/2011 22:02

Idreaminchocolate - I'm so glad that someone else is admitting to doing 156. Can I trump you though by adding 'watching it on my laptop with the headphones on so that DH doesn't know I'm obsessing'!

Newgolddream · 08/02/2011 22:43

gumblossom - I can be a little voice of support for you, I havent yet bought a fertility spell from Ebay but I did consider it.Blush

Only reason I didnt was that DH and I share the same Ebay account...and I didnt want him to think I had completely gone mad lol.

pigletmania · 08/02/2011 23:03

159 Dont know if this has been done yet, but constant knicker checking to see the type of discharge you have Grin. Inspired by Zita Wests Guide to GEtting Pregnant.

Bogeyface · 09/02/2011 08:28

160 - Getting massively pissed off with the whole thing, getting pissed as a fart several times in FFH and not even looking at pg tests, never mind buying them. Also, walking round the house in a melodramatic way saying "Well thats IT then, I am just not going to get PG EVER" and then getting pissed again.

That was the month I got pg. Blush

youremindmeofthebabe · 09/02/2011 09:49

#170 to have googled and thought about buying a fertility spell after reading earlier that there are such things available.

Or is that one just me?Grin

youremindmeofthebabe · 09/02/2011 09:50

Oh no, I see it is newgolddream too Grin

knittymum · 09/02/2011 09:57

No, youremindmeofthebabe, not just you!

#171 to have planned out all the meals I'll make and freeze as soon as I get a BFP as I know that about a week after I get it I'll be feeling sick as a dog and unable to face the thought of cooking. I'm thinking stews, mild curries, soups, bolognese sauces...!

#172 already knowing which of my tops will take me a fair way through the pregnancy and which ones I'll pack away as soon as the BFP comes in.

#173 buying a dvd of 'the human body' (Robert Winston documentary series from about 2000ish) so that I can obsessively watch the pregnancy episode.

tinksie · 09/02/2011 14:02

love this thread!!! omg i think this TTC malarky is driving me and my DP a lil bit mental, we have the added complication of being lesbians so are using a sperm donor (at home as we cant afford to use the clinic plus 5 years waiting list where we live!!)

#174 ~ posting a thread on the gay parents topic about what the twinkle in our eye should call us when born....mum and mummy??......mummy x & mummy y??....mamma & mommy or just first names???

#175 convincing myself (& dp) that i am not just getting emotional about the whole TTC & all that entails but it surely is pregnancy hormones causing moodswings when i cry my heart out @ OBEM!!

wish us luck,

jugglingjo · 09/02/2011 15:58

Good luck Tinks and Tigga Smile

And to all you young pups on this thread Wink

Be lucky Grin

JobCarHouseNoBaby · 09/02/2011 16:00

32ish: working out which month would be best to conceive so not heavily pg in summer

33ish: watching OBEM and memorising the midwives names (I live in Southampton)

34ish: lurking on MN even though I'm not a mum!!

Stuffing a pillow up my top to see how I'd look pregnant. Then wearing the pillow all day until OH is due home..

silver26 · 09/02/2011 16:41

I love this thread and have am guilty of many of these mad behaviours Blush

My other one would be:

#176 Drinking loads more fluids so that in addition to running to the loo on my ovulating days to check my discharge (Zita West style), I was also running to the loo on my AF due date to check for a bleed every hour. Sure my boss / DH was beginning to think I had bladder problems.....

The irony is that as soon as I relaxed a bit and stopped driving myself mad with many of the above, we conceived after 12 months of trying and a miscarriage last March.

Absolutely agree with the comments about keeping the humour up - the whole "I've decided to have a baby so it should happen immediately" not happening is so frustrating

Good luck to everyone posting :)
