  1. Lurking in baby names on a daily basis, desperate to post
  1. Checking the baby name statistics for both country and area
  1. Surfing Amazon to read reviews of pregnancy books- but not buying any
  1. Working out how pregnant I could be if I get pregnant this month at key events this year like weddings, holidays

5.Regularly checking the local nursery's website for information

  1. collecting maternity wear / baby things from Freecycle while trying to dodge the question 'when are you due'?
KnackeredCow · 08/02/2011 00:03

Folicacid I think it should have belonged on the recent thread re the worst thing your dp/dh had said to you after sex. Except maybe that should be rephrased as the "worst thing you'd ever said to a DH/DP post shag!" Blush He still loves me - I think Confused

sevendwarves · 08/02/2011 00:07

141 being annoyed that both your friend and sister have used the middle name you'd planned to use for your daughter that hasn't even been conceived yet! Blush

gumblossom · 08/02/2011 06:27

Surely I am not the only one who bought a fertility spell off ebay?? Am I?Blush

TanteAC · 08/02/2011 07:17

Grin ah gumblossom, yes, I think you probably are, love!

(actually lauging aloud!)

But rest assured, you have made my week. I will be chuckling in work all day. Hee hee!

What did they send you? Have a mental image of some big fat hairy bloke with a fag in his mouth stuffing envelopes with spells from 'Fairy Babybell' in his box room Grin

Jackaroo · 08/02/2011 08:06

Yep, did most of these, but am here to bring hope, and possibly grief, to all of you as follows:

1 - I was convinced I was pg, so pulled apart a HPT old-fashioned, and YES,there was indeed a very very very faint line on the inside.

2 - it was ONLY 8 dpo, and it was...

3 - A BFP (do you use that expression here?, I only joined since having DS1)....

So, I know I'm just allowing you all to act crazy, but sometimes it really is worth going the extra mile Grin

PS

4 - for DS2 is was dpo 10, but I'd used about 6 tests by the time I got the positive result on day 10

PPS - In between the two pregnancies I did get a block of 4 months where AF was late, my boobs were sensitive and huge, and I felt sick, and it was all entirely in my mind, so it can actually send you mad. If only temporarily. Don't say I didn't warn you.

moodymama · 08/02/2011 10:00
  1. Reading a whole thread about TTC but not even being sure you want to try for another.

Brings back memories of TTC my 1st though, was a long 4 years!

PinkIsMyFavouriteCrayon · 08/02/2011 10:17

Oh dear god, I'm soo pleased I'm not the only loon who did all of these things whilst TTC DD! Unfortunately now I'm even more insane, period is 3 days late (despite NOT TTC and using contraceptives!), have already

  • worked out due date of non-existant child

  • moved furniture around in my head to decide where everybody would sleep

  • carefully researched and selected double pushchair (baby jogger city mini Smile )

  • Had a good long think about toddler bed for DD vs. just buying a new cot for said non-existant baby

  • worked out childcare costs for two children

  • celebrated the fact that I would be on maternity leave over Christmas

  • thought of several baby names.

I'm insane, yea? Grin

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 08/02/2011 10:20

Reading this makes me want to try for a second baby... Despite my DD being not quite 4 months old!

It's so exciting TTC... Now I look back I wish I'd enjoyed it all more instead of stressing and worrying!

This is a brilliant thread!

gumblossom · 08/02/2011 11:46

Tante,(re: the ebay fertility spell) I got a lovely letter which explained what you needed to do(eat more oranges), a little ceremony for me to do as well, and a little fertility charm. I did actually get pregnant, but the spell-caster (white witch) had to re-do the spell twice. Sadly my pregnancy ended at 10 weeks, so I'm ttc again. This time I'm spending less on spells and more on a fertility monitor!

I have also moved the furniture, thought about which traveling "system"(pram plus car seat etc) I want to get, picked names, bought tiny little socks and clothing, and many many more things. Oh, and spent a small fortune on supplements and vitamins and herbal teas, fertility books and alternative therapies.

It just shows the level of dedication we all have - and self-belief - we really believe a baby will come.

I hope we all get our much desired babies!

Got2Dance · 08/02/2011 11:56

Just spent £37 on pre-conception vitamins for me and DH. Shock Haven't had the guts to tell him how much they cost!!

Decided to go for 3 for 2 - if we do get pg this month, will be wasting 2 months of his vits, but decided the reverse psychology may work even if the vits don't!! Grin

shonnomanom · 08/02/2011 11:59

#143. Calculating when said baby should be due then looking at friends with bumps/newborns and wondering if these existing babies will be in the same class as said baby and will be a good friend for baby.

Im very guilty of the Event thing. Recently freaked when calculated that non-conceived baby would be due on the same day as parents 40th wedding anniversary party. Knowing full well that my poor mother is already freaking out at the thought of sil's pfb arriving 3 weeks prior to party.

Although, I thought I was going TTC mad. But pregnant sil is already planning day trips for us to take my dd plus our babies next summer!!

angelicapickles · 08/02/2011 13:37

#144 when you realise the 'few bits' you bought and put in a baby drawer now don't fit and you have to evict handbags so as to create a baby wardrobe :p

BlueCrane · 08/02/2011 14:01

This is all so so true but v good to know I'm not alone in my insaneness...and there was me thinking I was going to stay quite chilled as we TTC'd...Blush!!

MumTumWanted · 08/02/2011 14:37

Having miscarried my second over christmas and debating whether to TTc again, (i have been lurking on the lost pregnancy miscarriage threads,) i stumbled across this one instead and i am so glad, it brought many smiles to my face and has helped me decide i should be joining in all this madness and trying agian thanks laidies, and can i add
#145 Working out how to tell your 11year old your PG again... without grossing them out...

MumTumWanted · 08/02/2011 14:38

forgot to add,

#146 when first starting out POAS both a PG one and OV just so you can rule one or other out DP regardless !

Folicacid · 08/02/2011 14:59

A lovely post maryz, if sad Sad

I know I found it really hard TTC for over a year. Nine years must be truly difficult.

But the thing is, for both of us, it worked didn't it ?

Rejoice and be glad !

But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded !

( Both phrases that popped into my mind from the good book ! - My friend has the second one in her loo Hmm )

If you can enjoy the work, all to the good Wink

MumTumWanted · 08/02/2011 18:07

#148 after working out non existant due date working out which seasons maternity clothes i would need and checking them out online

#149 Deciding not to waste money on new lingerie - already being a wanton sex goddess in the bedroom so no need for props - so check out nursing bras to see if they come in my size

#150 Buying a sleep bra for those painful boobs which i convince myself i have after prodding them countless times a day ( and going so far as to opt for the nursing style one to as this should save some money in the long term...)

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 08/02/2011 18:28

Why why why did I look at this thread... All afternoon I've been weighing up the pros and cons of TTC #2 now!!

DH will blame ALL OF YOU! Lol x

#151. Throwing away a bottle of orange juice when I realised (after drinking half of it) it had added Vitamin A with a warning it wasn't suitable for pregnant women in case our first attempt at SWI was successful last week.

crystalglasses · 08/02/2011 18:50

decorating and curtain making now as I might be too sick to do it next month
