This is a continuation of the "More ongoing and continuing conceptions and follicling ahead of Feisty, Fabulous Forty somethings"

I thought I would keep the title short as there are so many long ones out there.

I thought I would start the new thread so that you don't forget me Grin

Well done on the running BB we are a fit lot!!!! Once is all it takes!!!! [oh, how we all wish it was that simple for us!!!]

Diege so what if you ve ruined their chances!!!!!! What was i told when i faild my exams??? Oh yes its character building!!! What a lot of old shite!!!!

It's along the same lines of "what doesn 't kill you makes you stronger" REALLY, i ask you???? This was said to me after loosing Georgie.!!!!!

so, Diege be nice to your poor little undergraduates we ve all been there!!!! Smile

Mmm....don t know whats happening just hope to god i ve either ovulated or i do later, guess there is still time.Must get some more opks tomorrow.

louisesh · 17/01/2011 16:13

You can see i have failed in spelling!!!! Seems to have happened since i ve stopped working.

Diege · 17/01/2011 17:34

Grin Louise ah yes, character building...only one has actually failed, and a dismal 28% at that, so not too bad on the whole. You've reminded me to go and wee on an opk!
BB I too can hardly move if it's any consolation? I apply the same 'every other day' principle for exercise as I do to ttc-ing, but pain seems worse on day after the day after? Confused. Are you still taking the B6 btw?
Better go and get ds from nursery now; pushing the 6pm finish today Blush

just seen on another thread that Hairy is pg again! Lovely news.

Hope porth feeling ok? Am impressed at all the physical activity going on... admirable stuff!

Am feeling pretty glum, but trying not to feel angry at DH (Difficult!!) as then we'll fall out

hippychick66 · 18/01/2011 13:34

porth so sorry to read all your woes. I too have a depressed hubbie and i can really relate to lots of the things you said. When that dark cloud decends on him it also well and truelly decends on us (me and the boys).

I agree with what was said before. Mext month keep it light and don't tell him when you're peeing on sticks etc. Luckily i don't have a DH who is getting cold feet at the moment but he did have them when we first started TTC #3. he stupidly decided that we should wait for some money that we were due to get and I even more stupidly agreed. I was 42 at the time and here we are now - I'm 44, have had 2 MC's and we're still TTC (why oh why did we have to wait a few months for that money?? Hmm). The money has been spent and we're still in debt so it was all a bit pointless. I think men just worry and look at things differently. We all know the risks (many of us have suffered losses) but we keep going cos we are driven to do so, men just don't always have the same drive.

Sending you love porth and reminding you of our matey lia who is over 30 weeks preg right now and is at least 43 (she might even have turned 44 but i'm not 100% sure about that Blush).

lou i have ovulated on day 8, 9 & 10 over the last few months - so it is possible. But you're doing the deed often enough to cover all bases, you sexy beast Wink.

jolls good news about hairy. She mustbe scared to death but then again you've gotta be in it to win it and better up the duff than not.

GG was just thinking about you last night, thanks so much for doing the list. How are you, chuck? Glad you came back cos i was just about to start traulling MN to come looking for you.

tank hope all is ok. XXX

Nothing to report with me - day 5 so have just kicked the painters out. DH and i had a big row the other day so I don't like him right now but he is trying very hard to be nice to me and I'm sure in a few days when the egg whites appear I will allow him back into the inner sanctum Grin.

LIBBY70 · 18/01/2011 14:33

Sorry haven't been around much. Reading but not posting sorry! Dh v similar in terms of not being v keen on ttc, thinks the children that we have are enough. He has a good point but.............

Thx for the list gg. Am on iPad so can't work out how to update am age 40 trying to conceive no. 4 after 3mmc. On cd10.

Thought I would give you all a laugh in terms of my v low chances of conceiving! I have a bicornuate uterus with one larger "good" side and a smaller "crap" side. After the 3 miscarriages I have been told only to conceive whilst ovulating on the right side!! Paid for scan last month only to be told was ov on lhs so not to bother ttc. Dh has just let me know he is away on a business trip at the key time this month! Would like to be relaxed about it but time is ticking.....

Hope all ok, impressed by everyones fitness activities. Just entered for half marathon (am I mad?????) with the hope that I will b preg and not able to take part!!

louisesh · 18/01/2011 15:29

Oh Libby You ve got your work cut out for you???? I guess the fact you ve 3 dc must give you some confidence it can happen.Good luck with your training for the half marathon.

Hi Hippy time to get busy with swi!!!! Come on girl you can do it!!! Unfortunately you ll have to put your dislike of your dh away for now. There again, you don t have to look at the mantle piece whilst your poking the fire!!!!!!

Porth hope you re ok? Hope things are slowly improving for you XXX

Hi GG long time no see.

Waves at DEige,Curly , Jolls and Gum hope you re all ok.Hope i ve not missed anyone XXX

Well, "whats's occuring" with my body...Not a scooby!!!!! Gave up trying to dephier the lines on the first response opk so splashed out on my old faithful clear blue smiley face opk and no ovulating today.Oh, i m on cd15 actually [ I m a day behind on the list] so either i ovulated really early as we discussed yesterday or i m not ovulating this month.

I ll be so pissed off if i don't ovulate this month as what a missed chance!!!! God i so hope i ovulated early and caught that egg!!!!

Please.please.please let me have ovulated i don t want to have wasted another month.Ho hum......Confused

hippychick66 · 18/01/2011 16:29

lou I think you ov'd early Grin I don't mind the mantalpiece or the fire - it's that fat lumpy bit in the middle that i really don't like. Grin

louisesh · 18/01/2011 17:40

Hee Hee Hippy bless your dh.....We, too now have fat lumpy bits in the middle!!!!!

Thanks for saying you think i ov'd early it does reassure me.As i said i ve not ovulated only once in all the time i ve charted/tested.[does that make sense???]so , surely i must have ovulated this month?? Surely?????? Ok i ll shut up now.Just trying to keep myself positive Smile

Louise wanders away scratching her head!!!!!

nicole333 · 18/01/2011 21:18

Evening all Smile

It's been a while for me too, but I have been keeping up with reading posts. Sorry to hear the bad news of late, life can really throw the shit at times. The strength you all show at these times is heart warming, especially to each other.

I have charted a whole cycle now for the very first time. To be honest I have learnt loads about the wonders of the human body and am a little embarrassed at how much I didn't know. I have learnt that I do in fact have this ovulation pain, but didn't look at it as pain before!

I O'd on CD10, but I am known to have cycles around 24/25 days. The length doesn't vary much from this. The very strange thing is how I felt I just knew when my last fertile day was and when I carried on charting I was right! It just shows how listening to your body can make you in tune with it....Or am I just obsessed now?!

I'm not sure whether I am spotting for AF still though as the flow isn't as normal as it should be for 3rd day, but too much to be classed as spotting. Hmm, I'll wait and watch!

I have a question aimed at us and our age group specifically. I only take 400mcg of Folic acid. This will be my first attempt, so no passed MC or children. Should I be taking any other supplements?
Also, are there any that I should be taking that can help lift my mood? My PMT for the last 2 months has turned into mammoth crying at the drop of a hat/midlife crisis type dramas since I started feeling this need for a family.

Hoping you are all looking after yourselves ok Smile

cerealqueen · 18/01/2011 23:26

Hello ladies?
Can i join your thread please, been lurking for a bit and you all seem right up my alley Smile I was on another TTC thread but concluded that I was the oldest, any my worries are all to do with my age (42, 43 in March) and trying for No2!

Nicole, I'm on muti vitamins and folic acid and make sure I eat plenty of marmite for B vits. There are other things you can take but I've not gone down that road...yet. Some of the other ladies on here will be able to help I'm sure.

I too have had some huge crying thing going on, most recent was on Sunday, it was a very black day for me, have concluded was pre-menstrual (which made it worse) but could not say for sure as cycle has been crazy (three weeks last time, what's that about!!).

I will need some help with the abbreviations and what these list are though!

gumblossom · 19/01/2011 00:07

Hello everyone. Welcome back all you girls who've been away.Smile

Nicole, I take a lot of supplements, but don't know how much they help. I take a pre-natal multi, folic acid (800mg a day),CoQ10 - up to 800mg a day is supposed to be very good for aging eggs, and maca powder - the super fertility food apparently!

I also take fish oil - about 2000mg a day. You can take a bigger dose, and I believe fish oil is very very good for pmt. You could try taking evening primrose oil up until ovulation, then take the fish oil til your period. I used to have painful periods, but never do now, and I think it's a combination of the fish oil and acupuncture that has sorted it out. I think acupuncture would really help with pmt too, but it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

I'm feeling very happy to know I really did ovulate as my temp has been up for three days. I'm having these funny twinges in my boobs which is just like I did in the last cycle before my bfp, so finding it hard not to be excited. I know if AF turns up I'll be a mess, but I'll just have to ride that one out. I have to try to be positive about all this - it keeps me going.

It's been a bit mad in our household - I've been doing far too much taxi-ing about for my youngest dd while my Dh and older dd are away. She's having a sleepover at friends and has had ceveral playdates. My LO has not been happy having all the family away, and made a terrible fuss when I left him home with his older brother while I went to bookclub. Glad I went though, it was good to have some adult time!

Loads to do - want to tidy up before DH returns...

Italiangreyhound · 19/01/2011 01:46

Porth sorry it is a bit crap at the moment. Sad It is at least good that he has told you how he sees things. Even if it is very distorted by his black mood! I was on at my hubby for 18 months to hang the pictures he had taken down when he decorated last summer, no not last summer the one before! But I know, I wouldn't worry too much. So hopefully, in a positive way there are a few things you can do to make life feel easier for him. Which will in turn make it easier for you. Here's hoping.

My period disappeared almost 6 months ago and is still missing in action! Nearly wrote missing in acton! (Acton in London, at least I would know where it was!). Wink

Gum hugs Smile

Louise thanks for asking after me, I am well, new job going well.

Hippy hugs

BB and Diege and all, good to hear from you.

Jolls how are you? Muchlove thinking of you too.

Hamster is still great, my sis asked me how I can love a hamster! what is not to love. He is cute, clean, cheap (now we have the cage) and I love him!

Is anyone watching the biggest Loser/ It's total car crash TV but I think they are learning from it and me on my sofa watching it with a bag of Cadbury Nibbles, I am learning too! Hmm

Too tired to name-check properly so thinking of you only! All of you I mean.

Love to all

louisesh · 19/01/2011 09:29

Hi all

Italian glad your job is going well and you re enjoying your hamster.XX

Hi Nicole hope you re ok? I take 800mcg of folic acid and pregnacare supplements.

Hi Cerealqueen welcome XXX

Porth hope things are improving Smile

Hi Gum all sounds very promising.Know what you mean about dealing with the disappointment at a later stage. It's nice to have some hope and excitement.

Hi GG

Morning Hippy, Diege and Jolls hope you re all well.XXX

Been swimming this a,m.I feel "periody" so am hoping this means i ll be ovulating soon.As cd 16 too early for AF .I will love my body so much if i get a "smiley" face today. We swi last night.I ll let you all know later!!!

I bet you re all waiting with bated breath!!!! God i 'm getting sad!!!! Good job i ll be going back to work in the future!!!!

louisesh · 19/01/2011 09:30

Oh, Hi Muchlove XXX

hippychick66 · 19/01/2011 13:41

lou i totally get your need for the smiley face. Smile As far as I know, I have ovulated every month for the last 18 months that we've been trying (except, of course when i was briefly pregnant). And yet I still NEED to be sure that i am ov'ing.

If someone said "Don't bother with the OPK's just have sex at the right times and save the money and hassle." i know i would be totally unable to do that.

I think maybe it is to do with being in control, if I know I've had the surge and then a few days later i get the BiscuitBiscuit's I feel confident that i tried my hardest. Somehow just knowing the troops are in place is not enough for me. So i totally get your position. If you don't get a smiley face soon I would say you almost definitely did ov early. i once ov'd on day 8. I did have a very short cycle then (21 days) so that would confirm it for you. Fingers tightly crossed for you this month.

I got EW yesterday (day 6 not 5 as I'd previously thought). So will probably start OPK's today. ALso Dh gave me a lovely apology for being so horrid the other day so i may well reward him later too Grin.

Welcome to newbies.

i take pregnacare pre-conception tabs plus an additional 400mg folic. Nothing additional.

Love to all.

italian Am loving the love affair between you and your hamster. Ps. Have a quick look on streetview at Acton - you never know you might see your Auntie Flo wandering the streets Grin.

muchlove · 19/01/2011 14:38

Aftanoon All

Hope you are all well - LOU I didn't get a Smileface this month either I got +s on my IC OVsticks but not the big guns.... but I have had 9 days of higher temps so I am assuming I did OV BUT short of seeing it happen on an internal scan you really can never be 100% sure.....so maybe that means I had a really short surge ??? which I don't like the sound of at all coz that may signify a weak OV I just don't know (anybody???) but as HIPPY says you will find out soon enough .......

Hey HIPPY I also have always got a + for all the months (19 now)that I have been TTC so this was the first time really that it's happened if anything I usually get 2 days of Smilefaces and can usually feel OV on the second day ....I don't like it when my body gets thrown a 'curve ball' gggrrrhhhh and I can't go by any symtoms really either as I am taking Progesterone so thats giving me lots of PG feelings so the only way to know will be to test which I will do tomoz.....

Welcome to the 'newbies/returners' hope your stay is short and sweet and your upduffed soon......

Aaaaahh IG aren't pets just the best .... I love my little dog sooooo much he is the 'love of my life' well after DH and kids....no who am I kidding he is top of the list.....

Hey GG good to see ya round these parts (thanx as always for the list)

Love to all the rest of you

xx

Diege · 19/01/2011 17:54

Hello! All fine here, keeping up with the exercise and on the ttc front (which certainly doesn;t rate in the exercise stakes in the diege household Blush)gearing up for ovulation I think. Very faint line on opk and a bit of EWM which usually means ov in 2-3 days for me Dh away tomorrow and Friday so hoping the egg can hold on!
Gum It does sound like things are getting back to normal (physically) for you, and you never know, those pains could mean something?
Hippy I think we are synchronised again this mth Grin. I'll look out for my boobs being prodded by you again if that makes sense and doesn't sound too pervy Grin
Louise Let's hope the ov has happended, but if not then that will be fine too with all the swi you're doing? Cramping could be early implantation ?
Porth hope you're ok?
Italian I agree, hamsters are very sweet. I have a cockatiel called Harvey that I have fallen out of love with as his screeches are so, well, screechy!
muchlove, I've never read anything about short surges etc being a problem? I'd say a surge is a surge, but I'm no expert!
Nicole I veer on the supplement front from pregnacare, omegas, plus an extra folic acid, to Marilyn Glenville supplements, depending on how flush I am. I'm just on the single pregnacare at present as I am super skint till payday!
Welcome cereal! I'm sure you will fit in here very well Smile

nicole333 · 19/01/2011 19:39

Thanks ladies! You must spend a fortune each month, but it's money well spent if it means we get what we want!

What's the reason for more than 400mcg of the Folic acid? Is this something you have decided to do, or has it been advised because of our ages? When we went to see the GP, he said 400mcg, now I'm worried I'm not taking enough.

I am rubbish at taking tablets. I just can't swallow them and have bought anything I can in liquid or chewable form in the past. I think I might get the Folic that includes vitamin D that I saw the other day and I'll start a multi vit too. I know I can get them chewable aswell as a fish oil.

It feels strange to willingly walk into a sitation that you know can bring you a lot of heartache along the way. I don't think I've ever been in a situation like this before.

Hippy was it you saying you plan on moving to the IOW? I know the island very well, if there is anything you need to know, just message me. I'd be happy to help.

Louise How on earth do you find time to go swimming with all that SWI?!!! You must be exhausted! Good luck with the smiley face quest. I've bought some stick things from amazon I'll be peeing on this time round Smile

italian Hamsters are great, their poos are much smaller than my dogs, so much nicer to clean out Grin

Gum How are you now? It was so sad to be one minute reading about your good news and then a short time later reading your so sad news. Hope you're looking after yourself.
This may be old hat now, but that beach! wow! It must be good for the soul living there.

Big love to everyone else. Smile
