oh thats good lyraloo glad you got sorted.

ohh if you want a travelly type book I can recommend Shantaram. It's autobiographical, by Gregory david Roberts who ends up getting involved in Mumbai underworld, goes to Indian prison, then ends up living in the slum and sort of sets up a clinic and becomes self taught doctor. My friend actually met the author in the bar he mentions in the book and said he was amazing, he even signed her copy.

starnosemole · 01/11/2010 21:16

ooh ooh, I LOVED the Gargoyle (didn't mean to capitalise, but I really did love it that much) no one ever mentions books I've read, so am over excited

I just read a shit book and a good book on holiday, borrowed from the 'trust library' at our Sure Start centre play group- (yet another reason why they shouldn't get rid, but that's another soap box...) can't even remember name of first one, second was On Beauty, which again, I think is me coming late to something everyone else has read.

Did I already mention that I can't get on board with RA since he married the Vicar of Dibley? God, I'm going to get chucked out of the palais on today's performance; slagging off cats, and not loving Lucas.Next thing you know I'll be saying that if we all relaxed I'm sure we;d have babies in no time.. Please don't kick me out, see, look at my nipple tassles flying in opposite directions whilst I pour you all a finger or two of Wild Turkey.

rocketleaf · 01/11/2010 21:21

I hate to point this out moley but you wouldn't know that unless you had actually watched a whole episode of the vicar of dibbley. This almost qualifies you for ejection from the Palais but you can opt for a caning if you wish?

starnosemole · 01/11/2010 21:23

shineLyrashine Helllloooo! was just thinking bout you- glad birthday celebrations were fabulous-size of hangover being relative to amount o; fun=Good Times. We're going on Sat 4th- think only 3/4/5/7 were on sale at start, and though I knew extra dates would prob come up did panic buy slightly in order to get the saturday, as a couple of people have to travel up from London village. Do you think Gary et al sat around on Fri appreciating quite how much effort everyone made on their behalf- I hope so, and wouldn't mind a little note of thanks, perhaps flowers?

TwinkleToes76 · 01/11/2010 22:03

Moley I also don't love Lucas, but think Dimitri is rather lovely!

Currently reading The Finkler Question, pretty good so far.

PrincessBoo · 01/11/2010 22:05

I can't love him any more - he's toooo bad. I would still do him though.

Can't imagine what he's going to look like as a dwarf.

Ariesgirl · 01/11/2010 22:19

I can't believe it! Lucas is a baddie!

Yes, making him into a dwarf is going to be interesting. I'm not sure I'm going to fancy him any more :(

Hello Lyra my love! Am very Envy of your TT tickets. In the end I couldn't be bothered to try so I probably don't deserve them anyway! I'm going to Cardiff tomorrow (complete and random turn in conversation. Well, monologue) Every time I go, I get lost because it's all so different to when I were a lass.

PrincessBoo · 01/11/2010 22:35

My Aunt used to live in Cardiff .

and my half sister lives in Swansea.

what you going shopping for then?

starnosemole · 01/11/2010 22:44

oooh BOO you got us in most active! How, with one post in 15 mins I'm not sure-must be a quiet MN night! I have to go to work tomorrow and evryfing and I just want to sort out my shoe cupboard. Please fingers crossed it stops raining; I can't be doing with wet play.

Sad for Lily and family tonight.

PrincessBoo · 01/11/2010 23:01

Did I? Bloody Hell! Yep - must be a slow night then!

Ah yes, poor Lily, I have always had a soft spot for her, she's definitely a bit BESH too.

AlpinePony · 02/11/2010 06:38

I went to ballet school in Cardiff. This is not a joke - although I'm not going to win any Darcey Bussell lookalike comps any time soon... Wink

Casserole · 02/11/2010 09:20

This is my favourite book, though no-one's ever heard of it

Ivegotmrbitey · 02/11/2010 11:20

aries I went to cardiff a couple of weeks ago and got soooooo lost. Fantastic shopping there now and bought many many new things.

milano I loved the glass books, oddly dirty but not. You are quite right with the voyeurism description. There is a sequel also ++ good which is actually a bit proper filth in parts.

moley Gargoyle also very very good but am a bit of squeamish fainter so had to place head between knees to read some of it so it took me a while.

Currently reading Let the Right One In. Is too scary and can only read it in the daylight.

Hmm, have been through fred many times and still don't understand why Lucas is going to be a dwarf? What? Why? Still would despite of being baddie. Also, for those who watched spooks last night would also like a go on the real Lucas North too.

Headbanger · 02/11/2010 11:42

ARGH! People keep spoiling Spooks for me here and on FB Angry Sad Angry! STOP IT!!!!! I have to watch it on the iPlayer so I'm always behind! I knew Lucas was going to turn out to be a wrong-un because someone spilled on FB while I was still three episodes behind! However, Aries could stamp on a kitten and I would still luff her, so all is forgiff.

PS I would rather shag Sir Harry. I KNOW!!!?!?!! What the fuckery is wrong with me?! I am literally COMPLETELY immune to what people look like - I just always fancy whoever is most powerful/intelligent. Is like a weird sort of fetish.

Glad you had nice anniversaire times, Boo. Am not even slightly surprised by your change of heart: seen it happen many a time, oh yes .

Well I ought to be commencing the 2WOOFL but we only done it once this month (the OM been on lots of bizarre shifts, and I've been pissed/exhausted/hungover most days), so I shall be relaxed instead. And able to enjoy booze-fuelled birthday parties.

I haz just ordered some Duo boots. Anyone else ever had these? I nearly swooned at the price but the OM insists that he does not want to endure the torments of last winter, viz., my arriving him in thin tights and flat pumps actually weeping with cold and then weeping all over again as my scarlet swollen toes defrosted. Imagine my fucking horror that I had to get the second largest calf-fitting! Jesus! I'll be getting my knickers on prescription next!

Headbanger · 02/11/2010 11:43

arriving him HOME

PrincessBoo · 02/11/2010 11:56

mrsnappy is because he is going to play Thorin in The Hobbit you see.

Soz for the spoilers - will be extra specially careful next week as it's the last one - promise.

We managed the anniversary SFF today as we are still on annual leave while the boy is at nursery. Good times...have had a sleep and now the smell of bacon is wafting up the stairs. So can sperm live for 6 days or will we have to do it again? :o

PrincessBoo · 02/11/2010 11:57

that was meant to be MrSnappy as a take on Bitey but it looks like Mrs Nappy! oops!

owlshoes · 02/11/2010 12:04

Did you save half in the fridge for later, Boo ? Grin

HB my mate swears by Duo boots, hers have lasted for years.

Can I just add on the book list, don't bother with Frankie Boyle's My Shit Life So Far as it is, in fact, shit. At least he was honest. I have a Kindle and have ill-advisedly purchased many many books for it.

PrincessBoo · 02/11/2010 12:41

Dammit Wolboots why didn't I think of that? :o

Scorpette · 02/11/2010 12:59

My fave(ish - love reading too much to have a no. 1) is Try by Dennis Cooper, which I think means Social Services will take baby off me minutes after I give birth...

(I did my undergraduate Diss on this book. I might be slightly strange).

Ivegotmrbitey · 02/11/2010 14:56

Sorry pencil! have you ordered the boots on line? Would you like to post a link? Have quite a boot fetish Always like to see other people's boots and admire them.

Booby, I quite like Mrs Nappy! Makes me feel like the more efficent sleeper of the seven dwarves!

owlshoes · 02/11/2010 15:21

I also luff the boots. I have just bought a pair of rocket dog ones online. I bet they don't fit or make me look like the proverbial mutton.

HeadGirl I shall also offer you my special pair of comfy socks whilst waiting for the expensive boots to arrive. They are so soft.

PollyPoo · 02/11/2010 15:55

HB I have some duo boots, they are fab. I am however living in these since there are no zips or laces, and I can't actually reach my feet too easily atm. Blush I do have an extraordinary collection of shoes and boots, some of which live in pristine condition in their original packaging, taken out only to be stroked lovingly and then put away. I do luff shoes, but boots are even more special.

Gah to the Spooks spoilers, I am 3 weeks behind. Sad I don't care if Lucas is a baddie, I will still have him. Bad boys are always soooo much more attractive. Wink

AlpinePony · 02/11/2010 15:58

HB I've had 3 pairs of boots & 1 pair of shoes. I've got the red patent leather knee high hooker boots and a more sensible day-to-day brown ones.

Sign up to their mailing list and then have an "ordering frenzy" in the sales. The first week they knock 30% off, after a week or so the prices are far more acceptable. E.g., the pair I got in Jan are on the website for 180 euros - I got them for 65... (plus 6 p&p). The red ones were full price though - a price which I must never repeat. Blush

Headbanger · 02/11/2010 16:10

Oooo Oooo thanks for indulging my boot chat Grin!

I have ordered these. I think they will go admirably with my 'look', viz., of a governess in an Agatha Christie novel circa 1951 who is fond of floral skirts but would not be above fossicking about in the undergrowth for dead bodies Grin.

I should get some birfday money off the in-laws, and they will be sunk into these, for days when I have ditched the floral dress & cardi combination for a tatty maxi-skirt and checked shirt and sulky expression. I have been over-thinking this haven't I?!

You see, I live a ver ver frugal life, and HATE spending money, but the OM has insisted that I have some of those things that you sort of need to get you through the winter without tears. He has just bought me this coat too, although I do need to stop thinking along the lines of him buying me stuff since I pay the rent..it's just it FEELS as if he is, if that makes sense, 'cos he never asks for anything more than half an hour to make me a Spotify playlist and the odd beer and pie!
