I've no idea how big PCTs are but am wondering whether any of the places you'd quite like to move to are in a more BESHfriendly one and so if moving pre-pregnancy might suddenly be an excellent idea. But I'm sure you've thought of that and your research will tell you.

Of course the chances still are that you'll conceive naturally and can wave two fingers at all the stupid rule makers. I know it doesn't feel like that, but it's still true, chances are it will happen.

I'm very glad TYF is looking after you, make sure you have lots of lovely sexy time. And if you can turn the anger into determination to lose weight and do other things you want to (not saying you need to lose weight apart from the smidgin to stop the NHS holding that against you, but it sounds like you'd be happier if you did) then hopefully this will just be a minor blip on the way to motherhood that brings about other good stuff too. Did that make sense? Ignore it if it didn't.

Bastard bleepy droid arrive this morning and drowned the last tiny mewling kitten of denial hope. Oh dear Scorps I feel sick reading this. I was dreading that ART would be one of the areas hit by reduced funding after the election and it seems I was right. I am so so sorry. It's such an easy area to chop a load of funding from - the old "well it's not life threatening!" excuses get wheeled out and people not staring the situation in the face often think it's the infertiles fault for leaving it too long (which is fuelled by the media).

Please please don't give up on this. I'm off to do some research as I know PCT can be persuaded to offer ART funding even after they have refused it. Funnel that rage, use it to lose some weight (so you can give a "fuck you" to the NHS on BMI grounds) do as much as you can to help yourself wrt. shagging regularly, using preseed and so on (I know that's patronising, but it's those things you can actually do something about and have control over).

If you start saving now IUI may be within your reach, and I would seriously think about accepting money from TYF family if that is what it takes. Keep all options open for now.

Just logged on and saw the update Scorp and am feeling very thoughts towards your PCT and the knee jerk reactions of a shitty- excuse for a fledgling government. Am hoping some of the suggestions from other BESHes can help and am looking forward with great anticipation to the day you can post an envelope full of dog poo through the appropriate letterbox along with a photo of your BFP (although you would obviously need to put said photo in some sort of clear plastic covering, to stop it getting dog pooed)
