Orchid I was told not to chart by my doc too- something about causing extra stress. Thought it was a load of rubbish as my cycles range from 30 - 40 days and was getting VERY stressed when I thought I was late and tested too early getting BFN after BFN. AF would then arrive and I'd realised we'd totally missed the window anyway. Charting put control and calm back in my life! I think it also gives you a little bit of time every morning to "obsess" and then get on with the rest of the day.

Also - you say that the NHS wouldn't pay for any treatment - I had a (free!) laparoscopy and dye to check my lone tube was still ok about 4 months ago and I've got 2 DC's. Maybe you could look into this?

spilttheteaagain · 19/08/2010 18:14

Congratulations to teason and Ell! Grin

teason I bet you couldn't believe it after the month you've just had!

Very impressive rate of conceptions this month!

emptyshell · 19/08/2010 18:19

Jeez charting was the only thing that kept us sane after months of bonking every 2 days from end of period to start of next one. The relationship was on the rocks and both of us were sick to death of sex... it was only charting and knowing when we HAD to get jiggy with it and when we could do so for fun that kept us sane after the MC!

newyearsday · 20/08/2010 13:19

Thanks hippy :)

I agree charting helps keep me sane. I was really stressed out before, trying to guess what was going on with irregular length cycles. Mine are also 30-40 days ell11.

I?m at CD19 today and all my signs are telling me I?ll OV today or tomorrow. Last chance before the day surgery so we?re making the most of it!

Roll on the weekend....

Danilou22 · 20/08/2010 14:43

EWCM!!!!! EWCM!!!!! I have just found some EWCM (does a little ewcm dance) Woohoo!!! At last!!!!! Hope that means I am finally going to ovulate Smile(cervix is quite low though Hmm)

Have warned my man to save his energy!!

It is so nice to be able to celebrate these things with someone Wink

Saladbomb · 20/08/2010 17:41

Hey sorry you guys, I have been a bit rubbish at keeping up with this thread as have my hands full with the BESH thread (they can talk!) If only I could get MN in work it would all be good, although I might not have a job for long!!

I finally set up my home page so feel free to have a gander, its not really very interesting yet as early days although had a weird temp spike today. I am putting that down to waking up at 5 am and being a bit fitful before I temped at my normal time although that hasn't seems to make much difference in the past.

www.fertilityfriend.com/home/303fb8

emptyshell I hope alls ok with you now?

Danilou I would love to see what the EWMC dance looks like. :o (or maybe not! haha) Glad you are oving tho, get to it!

Cant believe advise is to STOP charting, what guff. Surely it depends on the person. At least if feels like you are 'doing' something (other than the obvious)

LittleSilver · 20/08/2010 18:44

Great news Ell and teason!!!
empty how are you?

Re: doctors telling you to stop charting. My personal temptation would be to tell them to stop trying to disempower me.

Danilou22 · 20/08/2010 19:38

With my cycles being all over the place temping has stopped me from symptom spotting and testing all the time. When you can see your temp hasn't changed you know you can't be. Saves dissapointment.

hippychick66 · 20/08/2010 20:20

I have EWCM too - can you see me dancing????

Not a positive on an OPK yet though so think I'll save the shagging for the morning - my birthday tomorrow (please note birthdays get dramatically less fun once you are over 40 and all you can see is your chance at that last baby slipping away - arrrghghh I wanna be 30-something again!!!)

Good luck Dani - hope the EWCM whisks the lads up to where they need to be and the egg is delighted to see them Smile

I agree that there is no harm in charting, as empty said. Bonking every other day all month is not practical and it's helpful to know when you really need to make the effort.

I wonder:- Are all these doctors, men - the ones who say just keep doing it every other day - i think they might be Wink.

Also, I think you only have to look at how many BFP's we get on here to know that charting does work. I do appreciate that some people have fertility issues and need some extra help but I really can't see how knowing where you are in your own bloody cycle can do any harm at all.

Love to all - I am drinking Cava tonight (don't care if I am about to Ovulate - I'm f*cking 44 tomorrow Sad.

Saladbomb · 20/08/2010 20:31

happy birthday for tomorrow hippychick hope you have a lovely day. think you might be right about those doctors being male :D my (female) acupuncturist on the other hand thinks it is brilliant, funny that.

Danilou22 · 20/08/2010 20:38

Happy birthday for tomorrow Hippy. I hope this does mean I am ovulting as now on CD 86 and if it keeps going I will be 44 (not that it is old) before I even manage to get one baby out!(am 31 now)

digitalgirl · 20/08/2010 20:46

Happy Birthday tomorrow hippy!

Sooooo, 8dpo. Bit of a temp rise this morning. Of course my last cycle looked triphasic and that didn't end well, so can't get too excited.

Got guests for lunch tomorrow and having lunch at a friend's on Sunday - so plenty to do this weekend to stop me from staring at my chart and willing it to spell pregnant in a dot to dot fashion.

Saladbomb · 20/08/2010 20:53

So am i right in thinking that a 2nd temp rise around half way thru the LP could indicated implantation? Would it need to stay up for the rest of the cycle? Hope thats whats happening for us both digitalgirl!

hippychick66 · 20/08/2010 20:53

dani day 86 Shock - my god no wonder you got excited about the EWCM. Can you imagine if you just went down the'lets do it every other day and see what happens' route!!!!

You defo deserve to ovulate now, my love.

Get those bloody troops up there pronto!!!!

hippychick66 · 20/08/2010 20:57

salad yes I think if it stays up for the rest of the cycle it is triphasic and could indeed suggest a pregnancy.

But, (I don't wanna be the voice of doom) you can get the odd one or two that go up a bit and then it can settle back to your usual post ov temp.

I really hope you are tri-phasic - and you digi. Grin

hippychick66 · 20/08/2010 20:58

dani bless ya for saying 44 isn't old Smile.

Saladbomb · 20/08/2010 21:02

but 44 isn't old! thanks hippy, well i'll try not to get my hopes up too much! lets see what the next few days bring.....

theteasonme · 20/08/2010 21:13

Ooh! digi how exciting! Fingers crossed!

Happy birthday for tomorrow hippy I hope you have a fab day Smile

well still no obvious symptoms to report here, had a weird wave of nausea mid morning but managed not to puke. I suppose my boobs feel a bit different but I don't think I'd notice if I wasn't checking IYSWIM. Still in denial I think!

I caved and text DH a pic of the test this morning though - he was rather surprised to say the least and is now claiming he has super sperm!

So, so happy Grin xxxxxx

Ell11 · 20/08/2010 23:51

Teason my DH said "sh*t the bed" when I showed him the stick. I'm glad he didn't.

Happy birthday Hippy!

spilttheteaagain · 21/08/2010 09:34

Happy birthday hippy Smile

emptyshell · 21/08/2010 13:20

teason my husband spent a fornight insisting his knob is now adressed as "super willy" and that it's worthy of a medal when I got the BFP.

As for the charting thing - Yahoo had something on its page a few days back when I was checking my Freecycle email on there with Dr Chris Steele (the This Morning blokey - dunno if he still is - I haven't watched it since I was a student) and his "tips to get pregnant". I was peed off by the end of it - he told you to basically buy a tonne of OPKs, and that temp charting was rubbish and not to bother. Funny how my chart spotted I was preggo before the test sticks did huh?

Grrrr.

hippychick66 · 21/08/2010 14:00

Thanks for the birthday messages.

Day 8 for me - lots of EWCM. Troops are in place.

I am determined to keep shagging every 2 days for bloody ages this month. I wanna be preg again (decent embryo this time please...)

Love to all xxx

hippychick66 · 21/08/2010 14:02

Ps. Imagine how proud my DH is. he has managed to get an old bird like me preggo twice within 6 months!! Super Sperm is a term we use often!!!! Grin Wish the bloody eggs were a bit more super Sad.

Saladbomb · 21/08/2010 14:11

Aww loads of luck hippychick hope you get a good egg as a birthday present. Another slightly elevated temp this morning and i had some strange twinges in my lower abdomen earlier, ha, most likely just a bit of wind :D

are you doing anything nice for your birthday? (apart from SWIing that is?)

hippychick66 · 21/08/2010 14:25

Hope the temps stay up salad. Yes I would love a healthy young egg for my birthday.Grin

Not doing much. I am going out next Saturday with my extended family for a big family day out. We were meant to be going to our beloved Isle of Wight this week but Hubbie was needed at work so we will go later in the year.

Am getting lots of kisses from my two boys (and of course DH).
